Can you tell me a typical day as a cashier in the
jewelry store?
At our company, the cashier is responsible for a
wide range of tasks, including opening the store,
maintaining the cleanliness of glass cabinets and
floors, periodically cleaning jewelry products on
display, and responding to messages from online
customers. Additionally, at the end of their shift,
the cashier is responsible for counting the money
and handing it over to the person in charge of the
next shift.
What are your primary responsibilities and
duties as a jewelry cashier?
My responsibilities include managing and
overseeing the store, ensuring that it is always
kept clean and tidy, and regularly checking to
see if any items on display have been lost. My
primary duties involve welcoming and advising
customers who purchase items in-store or
online. After my shift ends, I am responsible for
ensuring that my sales revenue is accurate and
complete.

Do you have any specific responsibilities
related to handling valuable items or
ensuring security in the store?
There are two scenarios related to the security
of valuable items in the store. If any item is
found missing during the opening of the store, I
will have to check with the employee who
worked in the previous shift or the previous
night. However, if any loss occurs during my
shift, I will have to carefully inspect whether the
item has fallen off somewhere in a dark corner
or is being carried by a customer. If it is due to
my negligence, I will have to compensate for the
original value of the lost item. During my shift, I
always observe every action of customers,
including opening the door to invite them in. I
also request them to place their coats and large
bags in the seating area.
Are there any tools or software you use as a
jewelry cashier to assist with your job?
Our company has developed specific software
to respond to inquiries from customers who are
unable to visit the store or have other questions.
This software merges all messages from popular
applications such as Facebook, Instagram, and
Tiktok. Additionally, we use a main software
system to manage payments at the counter,
control receipts and payments, shipping orders,
and canceled orders due to other specific
reasons. Finally, our store also equipped the
basic equipment: cash register, POS machine,
jewelry polish machine

What skills do you think are needed to do
this job well?
The job of a cashier does not require any
advanced degrees or advanced skills. However,
it requires sharp skills, good observation, and
long-term memory to control the orders
received and predict the type of customers to
make necessary adjustments. Additionally,
managing emotions well is crucial to always
satisfy customers. Finally, having good
personal aesthetic taste is important to advise
on jewelry suitable for each type of person and
their temperament
What characteristics do you think are needed to
do this job well?
To excel in this job, one must possess agility and
flexibility in consulting and serving each type of
customer. There are many types of customers who
purchase products for different purposes such as
gifts, personal use, souvenirs, etc. Therefore, a wide
range of consultation skills will be required.
Additionally, honesty is crucial throughout the
working process related to the store’s internal
affairs.
ANSWER
Are there any special procedures you follow
when handling returns or exchanges for
jewelry items?
Our company’s policy on returning or
exchanging jewelry items is straightforward. We
only support exchanges for other products
available at our store within the first 3 days from
the date of purchase. If you exchange for a
product of equal or higher value, you only need
to pay the remaining balance of the total
invoice. However, if you exchange for a product
of lower value, we will not refund the remaining
amount to you. It is important that you keep the
invoice and warranty card to check your
purchase history. In case you lose both, the
solution will depend on the situation.
Is there any ongoing training or professional
development provided to you as a jewelry
cashier? If yes, is the training long or short and
what did you learn in your training time?
Upon being hired, you will undergo a 10-day
internship that includes both theoretical and
practical training at the store. You will learn
about the properties of silver and the different
types of silver jewelry, as our store specializes in
silver jewelry. Additionally, you will be trained on
how to use the machines at the store, how to
advise customers, and how to repair damaged or
broken products.
ANSWER
Can you tell me about any specific challenges
you face in your role as a jewelry cashier and
how you overcome them?
As the main consultant for customers, the jewelry
cashier is often confronted with people who have
bad attitudes or unreasonable demands about
product warranties, even though they have been
tested when consulting. To prevent theft, it is
essential to check that the product is in good
condition before making payment, as some
customers may steal it when the cashier is not
paying attention. This happens relatively often,
and it is the cashier’s job to control their emotions
and ensure customer satisfaction to avoid future
disadvantages for the store. Additionally, revenue
inventory must be clear and transparent to avoid
suspicion and trouble.
Does your company have any compensation for
the cashier? How much are you paid to work in
this position?
The salary will be paid according to levels ranging
from 18K - 26K VND/h. If you work 12 days in a
month, you will move up one level. If you work
productively and enthusiastically during the
month, do more than 12 sessions, and receive
praise from customers, you will receive a bonus
from your superiors. Additionally, if the KPI on the
sales day is higher than the set level, you will also
be rewarded.
ANSWER
What do you usually do to maintain the
safety of the items?
I usually lock the glass cabinets for the security
of the store, open only when the customers
have the demand to try it on.
Does the cashier in KaT jewelry need to be
fluent in English?
Candidates who are fluent in English will have
a competitive advantage in the recruitment
because sometimes cashiers of the store
need to take care of a foreign customers.
In order to perform best in your position,
apart from the required skills you have
mentioned above, do the employees have
any other knowledge?
To perform the work best, employees might
do some research about the ongoing fashion
trends in jewelry items, sales performance
metrics and understand the customers’
behaviors and mindsets.

Our mistakes
The output: “reach the KPI of the company” the customers
can’t measure
=> Eliminate this output.
Have a mistake in differentiating between skills and
other categories:
”Basic math and arithmetic operations” should be put
into the abilities
“Be honest throughout the working process related to
the store’s internal affairs, such as reporting sales,
inventory, and expenses.” is considered to be the
personality rather than abilities
=> Put them into the right category

  • 8. ANSWER N e w L o o k . Can you tell me a typical day as a cashier in the jewelry store? At our company, the cashier is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including opening the store, maintaining the cleanliness of glass cabinets and floors, periodically cleaning jewelry products on display, and responding to messages from online customers. Additionally, at the end of their shift, the cashier is responsible for counting the money and handing it over to the person in charge of the next shift. What are your primary responsibilities and duties as a jewelry cashier? My responsibilities include managing and overseeing the store, ensuring that it is always kept clean and tidy, and regularly checking to see if any items on display have been lost. My primary duties involve welcoming and advising customers who purchase items in-store or online. After my shift ends, I am responsible for ensuring that my sales revenue is accurate and complete.
