Job Description

1. The person selected will be required to do many things due to the job being in a small specialty
store. This person will be trained to theme & customized gift baskets to a customer's
specification. The individual will be able to be creative in designs but all designs are subject to
approval by supervisor. Sometimes this will entail using gifts that the client brings in & then
design a basket around these items and other items in the store. The selected individual is
responsible for making sure that he/she can account for all items that are used in the basket for
costing purposes. This person will need to be able to make a beautiful bow. Beautiful bows are
essential in this business. This person will need to know how to work with cello/ shrink bags to
finish the look of a custom basket.
Other required duties will be to work in the retail store and help customers. This employer’s
philosophy is to welcome all customers to the store and to talk to all customers. When a
customer is in the store, that person or persons are the most important people at the time. It is
important that the person has the skills to be able to talk to the customers and make them feel
welcome and appreciated that they came into our store. The candidate selected will need to
read, watch videos and learn as much as possible concerning the growth patterns, harvesting
and the different grades of dates so to be able to speak to our customers and answer their
questions to the best of their ability. Every customer is told "Thank You". This should be an
automatic reply to a purchase but whether a person purchases anything or not, the customer will
know that we appreciate them taking the time to look at the items that are in the store.
The candidate will learn how to add and edit items to the cash register and learn how to operate
the cash register and the credit card machine. The selected individual will need to be able to
process packing slips and check in merchandise. Counting back change correctly is imperative.
Training will also be given on how to process a package through the Federal Express Ground
computer system.
