Helen asks…
Any ovulation or fertility calculators online you suggest?
I’ve been trying to find one that could record four or five of my last few periods to find a good
average of when I may be fertile.
I alter between 28, 29, and 30 days.
So I have a variety of days if I do it myself.
Are there any that you suggest that could do this for me?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
I use mymonthlycycles.com You can input all of your periods and it helps you with an average
cycle and tracks your fertility dates. As the others said, its hard to count on a computer
generated fertility dates, so I use OPK’s too. I’m on a regular 28 day cycle- so the computer
generated fertility dates is correct for me. Good luck!

Hey,
yes theres a chance you could become pregnant, if its not what you want then you can get the
morning after pill just to be on the safe side, otherwise wait until your next period is due if it
doesnt arrive then test away !
He sounds like a **** to be having sex with you then the day after throwing u away
Hope your ok x

Best way to track FERTILITY w/ irregular periods?
My periods can very every 27,28, 29 and 30 days. My husband and I are trying to conceive and
I’m struggling how to best track my most fertile times. I’ve used online fertility calculators but
those don’t work because of the inconsistencies. I’ve used those ferttility kits and they don’t
work as well and they can get fairly pricey. Any other tips?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Nimi’s response is good. Please read that book.
You are considered “fertile” during the few days before ovulation day and including ovulation
day. How do you know when those days are? You have to check your cervical fluid and know
when you have “fertile” cervical fluid.
Checking your cervical fluid does not involve any supplies. Some suggest just swiping the
opening of the vagina with a finger or toilet paper, but I have found it most helpful to insert a
clean finger within the vagina and swipe around inside. I usually do it when I am in the shower
squatting. This way, I get a good sample of what kind of fluid I have.
Cervical fluid changes throughout the month. After your period is over, you may find that your
finger comes out pretty clean. That’s normal. Within a few days, you will probably start
observing some type of cervical fluid. It starts off “not fertile”, which is usually sticky or gooey or
dry. Then it will start to get wetter (another few days or so) and become more gooey wet or
creamy. Then when you have reached your “fertile time”, it will become slimy and slippery with
a clear or streaked coloring. Your fertile fluid looks and feels a lot like egg whites or semen. You
may even be able to stretch it between you fingers. Your body will produce this fertile fluid for up
to 5 five days or so before ovulation day. When you find this fertile fluid, your body can support
the life of sperm, which can live in this fluid for up to five days. It is during this time, that you are
fertile and therefore should aim to have intercourse at least every other day throughout this time

4. up through ovulation day.
How do you know when ovulation day is? You will observe a shift in your morning temperatures
of at least .2 degrees to a higher range the day after ovulation day. You need to be taking your
temperature every morning around the same time before you get out of bed to even go to the
bathroom. Record these temperatures. They will stay in a low range before ovulation. My low
range is between 97.0 and 97.9. After ovulation day, my temperatures rise to 98.1 to 98.4.
(Each person’s temps are different, but mine are pretty normal.) The last day of low
temperatures is ovulation day. Your cervical fluid will dry up either the day of ovulation or the
day after ovulation.
In summary, you are fertile during the days that you have fertile cervical fluid before the shift up
in morning temperatures.
I have a nice article on the whole thing, as well as a free chart you can use to log in your temps
and cervical fluid findings on my website under the fertility section.
I hope this helps you understand the two main fertility signs a little better.

How good are online fertility calculators?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

5. They’re accurate for most women, however if you have irregular cycles or have been trying
unsuccessfully for several months, then buying ovulation predictor kits from the drug store or
learning how to chart your temperature would be more accurate.

Fertility & Ovulation Calculators?
Why is it that every fertility & ovulation calculator I look at on different websites, all show me
different fertile & ovulation days. Even though I’ve entered the same information for each of
them? I’m so confused.
I don’t know when I ovulate and that’s what I’m trying to find out. Fertility friend is kind of
confusing to me. I dont know why lol
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Oh i hate ovulation calendars! They don’t help at all..at least in my opinion they don’t. Your
ovulation day can vary from month to month, so it’s never very accurate. I would use OPK’s
(ovulation predictor kits) if i were you..that’s what i use. I also use fertilityfriend to chart my BBT
(it’s so easy!!). Charting wont predict ovulation, but after a few months you will begin to see a
pattern and you will know your body a lot better! The OPK’s are really nice, you just start
testing a few days after your period and then when you get a positive, you stop and BD for the
next few days. The OPK will test for an LH surge..once it detects it, you usually have about
12-48 hours before you’ll ovulate. I take a test a day, usually in the afternoon or evening, they

Mandy asks…
Do period-like cramps in the week after you have unprotected sex
mean anything?
My husband and I had unprotected sex last week, and I did an online fertility calculator to
pinpoint where I had been in the 28-day cycle, and found that it was at the beginning of my
“fertile” phase. Now I am having period-like cramps, and my period was only two weeks ago, so
I couldn’t be having it again so soon. I have read that you don’t have any symptoms of
pregnancy the week after conception, but could cramps mean your body is doing something?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Yes, it is possible that the body could be doing something in relation to pregnancy but this kind
of cramping can also sometimes be an indication of an infection such as with the cervix (an
example only).
I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
