5. Norma dates the sheriff Alex Romero, this
soon drives Norman crazy because he wants
his mother alone for himself. In some parts
of the series you can see that Norman is a
little sexual and obsessed towards his
mother.
6. I LOVE YOU MOTHER
• His mom is beginning to notice his behavior and sends him to Therapy
although it wasn’t the right form of therapy and Norman refuses to
participate in a lot of the activities.
8. When Norman kills Norma by releasing carbon monoxide while she sleeps, Norman
conjures in his head that her death was a shame because she wants to live in isolation. He
mummifies her corps in a fruit cellar in the basement where he communicates with her as if
she is alive. In his own mind he becomes his mom in order to escape the awareness of her
death.
9. Conclusion
Norman was abused as a child and experienced traumatic stress and
the only person who was there to protect him was his mother. That Is
why under pressure his mother is the one he personates during his
blackouts and also why he can’t stand his mother not giving him all of
her attention. During his therapy sessions Norman was never fully
there and responded to the therapist when his “mother” told him what
to say. The therapy he was in was only making his disorder worse and
caused him to be more psychotic and delusional. When things got too
out of hand he snaps and kills his mom, but because of his need for her
he goes through extreme lengths to keep her alive in his mind.
