2. There are lots of species
of birds in Pisay.
They tend to stay/nest on
buildings.
They scavenge for food.
I want to feed them.
3. There’s a lot of possible
recyclable materials in
Pisay.
These materials are just
simply thrown away
without actually
recycling it.
4. Thus, to make use of
recyclable materials and
feed the birds, I
constructed a bird feeder
made from found
materials.
I named it, The Green
Feeder. (not just because
it’s green. Because green
= environment).
5. 1. Gathering Materials.
Found Materials Bought Materials
PET bottles Adhesives
Plywood Bird seeds
Microwavable
container
Fruits
Wooden stick Nails
Cement Brackets
Ice cream container
6. 2. Making a prototype.
The initial prototype
made use of
illustration board first
and have no stand yet.

Microwavable

Real leaf PET bottles
7. 3. Constructing the
Final product.
After making a
prototype, here are
the problems
encountered. (Click
on it to see how the
problem was solved. I
hope Slideshare will
let you click but if not

8. The height of the project
was adjusted from low to
high because low bird
feeder can be susceptible
to ants and can be
dangerous to cats.
• But the PVC pipe used
wasn’t able to completely
filled with cement thus it
ended up being unstable.
Part 2
here
9. To make it unstable the
material that should be
used must be hard
already that’s why I used
wooden stick.

Part 1
10. The initial design has
wide space thus it blocks
the light and looks
sketchy for birds to go.
Cutting the plywood used
to make it narrower, the
food and water can be
now seen easily.
11. Illustration board, as we
know, is not sturdy thus
the search for found
plywood is important.
Additionally, illustration
board can be destroyed if
there’s a rain.
12. I tried a variety of foods
for the birds. I tried bird
seeds with sunflower
seeds, fruits such as apple
and orange, coconut and
cooked rice.
The birds do not seem to
like these food.
13. Looking at it first, it
seems so dull and boring.
Adding colors to it is
pretty much good idea.
Birds tend to feel safe to
camouflage colors such
as green that’s why I
painted the project green.
14. The initial design shows an
upside-down coke bottle.
Refilling it is a major hassle
because you have to turn it
upside-down first.
Combining the two half-of-
the-coke-bottle with cap on
both ends was a good idea
but the water overflows
without stopping.
That’s why I settled on the first idea.
15. The completed bird
feeder was tested outside
to see if birds will go to it
and eat/drink.
It was tested at the
Backlobby, Basketball
Court and Back of the
ASTB.
16. No bird went to eat/drink or even
stay on it .
There are several factors that may
affect the birds’ decision to visit
the bird feeder:
1. They still don’t like the food.
2. The environment already
supply them water that they
don’t need to search for it.
3. The birds might not like the
painted bird feeder.
4. They are still not used to
having bird feeder in their
environment.
5. The bird feeder is too close to
humans.
17. It was pretty fun making this project even though it failed
to attract birds and feed them.
I am really a fan of environment-friendly projects because
personally, I think that the continuous progress of
technology makes our environment suffer. We only have
one earth. Don’t destroy it.
It was fun looking at birds even if I’m near to salvaging
them and force them to eat on my bird feeder. It is relaxing
to see them chirping and flying freely. Remember, the bird
you see is not maya, it is the Eurasian Tree Sparrow.
Not recommended to have birds as external validator. I’m
failing because my subject has wings .
