Food packaging is packaging for food. A package provides protection, tampering resistance, and special physical, chemical, or biological needs.
Now lots of products are made out of plastic. A lot of it is throw away and will stay in garbage dumps for thousands of years. Biodegradable plastic, unlike normal plastic made from petroleum, will decompose and become part of the soil. This Intractable will show you how one easy way to make some biodegradable plastic.
Then we can do with the biodegradable plastic a clever and eco-friendly food packaging systems on a high demand .

9. Our project idea
Eat your food , Grow a plant , Save the planet
Now lots of products are made out of plastic. A lot of it is throw away and will
stay in garbage dumps of thousands of years. Biodegradable plastic,
unlike normal plastic made from petroleum, will decompose and become
part of the soil. This Intractable will show you how one easy way to make
some biodegradable plastic.
Then we can do with the biodegradable plastic a clever and eco-friendly food
packaging systems on a high demand .
10. The biodegradable plastic
1- Materials: -Corn Starch –Water -Cooking Oil
2- Mix the ingredients together to form a milky looking liquid.
3- Put the mixture in the microwave and set the microwave on high for 25-30 seconds.
4- When it looks slightly transparent, take it out. Let it cool a bit so you can handle it. Then knead the
plastic until it is soft and can be molded like play-dough. Now you can mold it into whatever shape you
want it to be. Once molded leave it for about 24 Hrs.
11. The friendly food packaging systems
Eat your food , Grow a plant , Save the planet
12. Eat your food , Grow a plant , Save the
planet
Results:
This way we were able to solve the problem of non-plastic biodegradable .
And we were able to protect the country from desertification .
13. Eat your food , Grow a plant , Save the planet
Recommendations:
We can use the biodegradable plastic to make plant pots so you start the
plants indoors and when they've grow you can put them in the ground.
The product is easy to apply and will not face any difficulties in the way it
works.
14. Conclusions
The module was very useful to us and we gained much information about
food packaging. AL-Bairaq improved our personality and thinking and was
a great experience to us.
15. Acknowledgment
Many thanks to my teachers, school and AL-Bairaq team from
Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar University for
supporting us during our journey with a AL-Bairaq.
Also, I would like to thank the sponsors UNESCO, Ras Gas,
Maersk Oil and Shell.
