स्वस्थ एवं स्वास्थ्य की परिभाषा -
चक्रपाणि अनुसार –
सुष्ठु णनणविकारत्वेनावणिष्ठि इणि स्वस्थ :। स्वस्थस्य भाव: स्वास्थ्य || (च.पा. च.
सू. 5/3)
• जो व्यक्ति णवकार रणिि अवस्था में क्तस्थि िो, उसे स्वस्थ करिे िैं ।
• स्वस्थ व्यक्ति क
े भाव को िी स्वास्थ्य कििे िै।
स्वस्थवृत्त की परिभाषा
स्वस्थ + वृत्त = कायय / क्रिया
णजस व्यक्ति क
े दोष, अणि, धािुऐ.. मल आणद सम प्रमाि में िो, उनकी
णक्रयाऐं सम्यक
् िो िथा आमा इक्तियााँ मन प्रसन्न िो ।
उत्थायोत्थाय सििं स्वस्थेनारोग्यणमच्छिा । धीमिा यदनुष्ठेयं
िदक्तिन् सम्प्रवक्ष्यिे ॥ ( सु. सू.)
• स्वास्थ्य परररक्षि िेिु स्वस्थ पुरुष णनत्य सोकर उठने क
े बाद जो कमि
करना चाणिए, उसे िी स्वस्थवृत्त कििे िैं।
• णजस शास्त्र में व्यक्ति क
े स्वस्थ रिने क
े णनणमत्त जो उपाय , पररचयाि आणद
(राणिचयाि , णदनचयाि, ऋिुचयाि, आिार, सद् वृत्त ) का वििन णकया जािा िै,
उस शास्त्र को स्वस्थवृत्त कििे िै।

सुश्रुत अनुसाि
समदोष: समाक्रिश्च समधातु मलक्रिय : ।
प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमना: स्वस्थ इत्यक्रभधीयते || (सु.सू. 15/41)
णजस पुरुष क
े दोष, धािु, मल, िथा अणि व्यापार सम िो अथािि् णवकार
रणिि िो, िथा इक्तियााँ, मन, आत्मा प्रसन्न िो विी स्वस्थ िै।
चरकानुसार
सममांसप्रमािस्तु समसंिननो नर: । दृढेक्तियो णवकारािां न बलेनाणभभूयिे ।
क्षुक्तिपासाि सि शीिव्यायाम संसि । समयकिा समजर : सममास चयोमि : ॥ (च.
सू. 21 / 19)
• णजस व्यक्ति की मांस चािु सम प्रमाि में िो।
• शरीर गठन समान िो ।
• इक्तियााँ दृढ िो ।
• रोगों का बन णजसे पराणजि न कर सक
े
• भूख, प्यास, धूप, शीि, व्यायाम को सिन कर सक
े
• पाचन शक्ति सम िो।
• ठीक समय पर शयावस्था आये
• मांसाणद धािुओं का उपाय समान िो,
वि अणनन्दनीय व्यक्ति िै,अथािि् स्वस्थ िै।
काश्यप संणििा अनुसार –
अन्नाणभलायो भुिस्य पररष्क': सुश्वेन च। सृणिणनवाित्व गरीवस्य िु लाघवं ।
सुप्रसन्नेक्तियत्वं च सुखस्वप्नप्रबोधकम् ।बलवषाि लाभ: सौमनस्य समाणिि। णवद्ाारोग्य
णसद्धणम णववशले णवपयियम् ।। ( का. क्तख . 5/6-8 )
• अन्न करने की इच्छा।
• खाऐ हुए अन्न का सुखपूविक पाचन
• मल-मूि एवं वायु का अनुलोमन िोना
• शरीर में लघुिा बक्तन्दयों की प्रसन्निा
• सुखपूविक णनद्रा एवं जागना
• बल, वषि . आयु की प्राक्ति
• मन की प्रसन्निा
• अणि समिा ।
यि आरोग्य (स्वस्थ) क
े लक्षि िै।
मनोदैणिक स्वास्थ्य का वििन आयुवेद शास्त्रों में णदया िै।
आरोग्यिा की परीक्षा
कायि धािुसाम्यं, िस्य लक्षिं णवकारोपशमः। परीक्षा त्वस्य-रुगुपशमनं, स्वरविियोगः, शरीरोपचयः,
बलवृक्तद्धः, अभ्यविायािणभलाषः, रुणचरािारकाले, अभ्यवहृिस्य चािारस्य काले सम्यग्जरिं, णनद्राला
यथाकालं, वैकाररिां च स्वप्नामदशिनं, सुखेन च प्रणिबोधनं, वािमूिपुरीषरेिसां मुक्तिः
सवािकारैमिनोबुद्धीक्तियािां चाव्यापणत्तररणि ॥८९॥
धािुओं को सम करना वैद्ों का कायि िोिा िै, रोगों का शान्त िो जाना उसका लक्षि िै।
इसकी परीक्षा णनम्न प्रकार से की जािी िै-
• वेदना का शान्त िोना,
• स्वर और विि का ठीक रिना,
• शरीर एवं बल की वृक्तद्ध,
• भोजन करने की इच्छा,
• आिार में रुणच का िोना,
• समय पर खाये हुए आिार का उणचि समय से ठीक पर जाना,
• समय से णनशा का थाना,
• बुरे स्वप्नों का न देखना,
• सुखपूविक समय से सोकर उठ जाना,
• बाि, मूि, पुरीष और शुक्र का अच्छी प्रकार से णबना णकसी कर क
े णनकल जाना,
• मन, बुक्तद्ध और इक्तियों का सभी िरि से किरणिि िोना
अथािि् शारीररक या मानणसक रोगी से पीण़िि न िोना,
• धािुसाम्य (स्वस्थ मनुष्ों क
े ) कायि की परीक्षा िै।
Definition of Health →
According to WHO
Health is well being a state of complete physical, mental spiritual social & not merely
the absence of disease or infirmity .
Operation definition of Health by WHO →
In broad sense →
Health can be seen as condition or quality of Human organism expressing the adequate
functioning of organism in given condition genetic or environmental.
In narrow sense →
Health means-
(a) There is no obess evidance of disease & that a person is functioning normally i.e ,
conforming with normal limits of variation to the standard of health criteria generally
accepted for once age, sex , community & geographic reason.
(b) The several organ of the body are functioning adequately in themselves & in relation
relation to one another which implies a kind of equilibrium.
स्वस्थवृत्त प्रयोजन
प्रयोजन चास्य स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थ्यरक्षिमािुस्य णवकारप्रशमनं च । ( च. सू. 30/26)
आयुवेद क
े दो प्रमुख उद्देश्य िै –
(1) स्वस्थ क
े स्वास्थ्य की रक्षा करना ।
(2) आिुर (रोगी) क
े णवकार का प्रशमन ।
इनकी प्राक्ति स्वस्थवृत्त द्वारा की जा सकिी िैं।
धमायथयकाममोक्षाणां आिोग्यं मूलमुक्तमम् ।
िोगास्तस्थापहतरि : श्रेयसो जीक्रवतस्य च ॥ (च . सू .30/26)
• पुरुषाथि की प्राक्ति सम्भव िभी िै, जब व्यक्ति णनरोग रिेगा
क्ोंणक रोग व्यक्तियों क
े सुख व स्वास्थ्य को िर लेिा िै।
• णि ऐषिाओं की प्राक्ति भी स्वस्तृि द्वारा की जा सकिी िै।
महत्व -
सवयमन्य परित्यज्य शिीिमनुपालयेत् ।
तद् भावे क्रह भावानां सवायभाव: शिीिणाम ।। ( च.क्रन.6/7)
व्यक्ति को सभी कायि छो़िकर सविप्रथम शरीर का पालन
अथािि् स्वास्थ्यरक्षि करना चाणिए, क्ोंणक स्वस्थ रिने िी अन्य
भाव िै। यणद स्वास्थ्य िी ठीक निीं िोगा िो क
ु छ कायि सम्भव
निीं ।
न जन्ुुः कक्रश्चदमिुः पृक्रथव्ां जायते क्वक्रचत्। अतो मृत्युिक्रनवाययुः
स्यान्द्रिन्ु िोगाक्रन्नवाियेत् ।। ( श.संक्रहता )
इस पृथ्वी पर ऐसा कोई भी जन्तु निीं िै, जो अमर िो, मृत्यु अणनवायि
िै। परन्तु, रोगों का णनवारि णकया जा सकिा िैं।
DIMENSIONS OF HEALTH
Physical Dimension
• All the organs of the body are of proportionate in size.
• Body well clothed with firm flesh
• Good appetite , regular activity of bowels and bladder
• Coordinated bodily movements
• Sound sleep
• Pulse ,B.P , R.R. Evercise tolerance are normal and according to age
ad sex .
Mental dimension-
• A state of balance between the individual and the surrounding world, a state of harmony
between oneself and the others, a coexistence between the realities of the self and that of the
other people and that of the environment.
• Free from internal conflicts, he is not at "war" with himself
• Well adjusted with others
• Searches for identity
• Has a strong sense of self-esteem
• Faces problems and tries to solve them intelligently
3. Social dimension-
• Harmony and integration within the individual, between each individual and other members of
of society or environment in which they live.
• It is the ability to see oneself as a member of large society.
4. Spiritual dimension-
• Having meaning and purpose in life.
• Commitment to some higher being .
• Having intigrity, principles and ethics.
5- Other dimensions-
• Emotional
• Vocational
• Philosophical
• Cultural
• Socio-economic
• Environmental
• Nutritional
• Curative etc.
Well being -
Well being of an individual or group of individuals have
objective and subjective components.
Objective Components –
1) Standard of Living –
Income and occupation , Standard of housing , sanitation and nutrition ,
the level of provision for health , education , recreation and other services .
II ) Level of Living –
It consists of nine components :
1-Health 2- Food consumption 3-Education 4- Occupation 5- Working
conditions 6-Housing 7-Social security 8-Clothing 9- Recreation 10-
Leisure and Human right.
Subjective components –
It is referred to as Quality of life.
The condition of life resulting from the combination of effect of the
complete range of factors such as those determining health ,
happiness, education, social and intellectual attainments , freedom
of action, justice and freedom of expression.

  • 5. स्वस्थ क े लक्षि- सुश्रुत अनुसाि समदोष: समाक्रिश्च समधातु मलक्रिय : । प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमना: स्वस्थ इत्यक्रभधीयते || (सु.सू. 15/41) णजस पुरुष क े दोष, धािु, मल, िथा अणि व्यापार सम िो अथािि् णवकार रणिि िो, िथा इक्तियााँ, मन, आत्मा प्रसन्न िो विी स्वस्थ िै।
  • 6. चरकानुसार सममांसप्रमािस्तु समसंिननो नर: । दृढेक्तियो णवकारािां न बलेनाणभभूयिे । क्षुक्तिपासाि सि शीिव्यायाम संसि । समयकिा समजर : सममास चयोमि : ॥ (च. सू. 21 / 19) • णजस व्यक्ति की मांस चािु सम प्रमाि में िो। • शरीर गठन समान िो । • इक्तियााँ दृढ िो । • रोगों का बन णजसे पराणजि न कर सक े • भूख, प्यास, धूप, शीि, व्यायाम को सिन कर सक े • पाचन शक्ति सम िो। • ठीक समय पर शयावस्था आये • मांसाणद धािुओं का उपाय समान िो, वि अणनन्दनीय व्यक्ति िै,अथािि् स्वस्थ िै।
  • 7. काश्यप संणििा अनुसार – अन्नाणभलायो भुिस्य पररष्क': सुश्वेन च। सृणिणनवाित्व गरीवस्य िु लाघवं । सुप्रसन्नेक्तियत्वं च सुखस्वप्नप्रबोधकम् ।बलवषाि लाभ: सौमनस्य समाणिि। णवद्ाारोग्य णसद्धणम णववशले णवपयियम् ।। ( का. क्तख . 5/6-8 ) • अन्न करने की इच्छा। • खाऐ हुए अन्न का सुखपूविक पाचन • मल-मूि एवं वायु का अनुलोमन िोना • शरीर में लघुिा बक्तन्दयों की प्रसन्निा • सुखपूविक णनद्रा एवं जागना • बल, वषि . आयु की प्राक्ति • मन की प्रसन्निा • अणि समिा । यि आरोग्य (स्वस्थ) क े लक्षि िै। मनोदैणिक स्वास्थ्य का वििन आयुवेद शास्त्रों में णदया िै।
  • 8. आरोग्यिा की परीक्षा कायि धािुसाम्यं, िस्य लक्षिं णवकारोपशमः। परीक्षा त्वस्य-रुगुपशमनं, स्वरविियोगः, शरीरोपचयः, बलवृक्तद्धः, अभ्यविायािणभलाषः, रुणचरािारकाले, अभ्यवहृिस्य चािारस्य काले सम्यग्जरिं, णनद्राला यथाकालं, वैकाररिां च स्वप्नामदशिनं, सुखेन च प्रणिबोधनं, वािमूिपुरीषरेिसां मुक्तिः सवािकारैमिनोबुद्धीक्तियािां चाव्यापणत्तररणि ॥८९॥ धािुओं को सम करना वैद्ों का कायि िोिा िै, रोगों का शान्त िो जाना उसका लक्षि िै। इसकी परीक्षा णनम्न प्रकार से की जािी िै- • वेदना का शान्त िोना, • स्वर और विि का ठीक रिना, • शरीर एवं बल की वृक्तद्ध,
  • 9. • भोजन करने की इच्छा, • आिार में रुणच का िोना, • समय पर खाये हुए आिार का उणचि समय से ठीक पर जाना, • समय से णनशा का थाना, • बुरे स्वप्नों का न देखना, • सुखपूविक समय से सोकर उठ जाना, • बाि, मूि, पुरीष और शुक्र का अच्छी प्रकार से णबना णकसी कर क े णनकल जाना, • मन, बुक्तद्ध और इक्तियों का सभी िरि से किरणिि िोना अथािि् शारीररक या मानणसक रोगी से पीण़िि न िोना, • धािुसाम्य (स्वस्थ मनुष्ों क े ) कायि की परीक्षा िै।
  • 10. Definition of Health → According to WHO Health is well being a state of complete physical, mental spiritual social & not merely the absence of disease or infirmity . Operation definition of Health by WHO → In broad sense → Health can be seen as condition or quality of Human organism expressing the adequate functioning of organism in given condition genetic or environmental. In narrow sense → Health means- (a) There is no obess evidance of disease & that a person is functioning normally i.e , conforming with normal limits of variation to the standard of health criteria generally accepted for once age, sex , community & geographic reason. (b) The several organ of the body are functioning adequately in themselves & in relation relation to one another which implies a kind of equilibrium.
  • 11. स्वस्थवृत्त प्रयोजन प्रयोजन चास्य स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थ्यरक्षिमािुस्य णवकारप्रशमनं च । ( च. सू. 30/26) आयुवेद क े दो प्रमुख उद्देश्य िै – (1) स्वस्थ क े स्वास्थ्य की रक्षा करना । (2) आिुर (रोगी) क े णवकार का प्रशमन । इनकी प्राक्ति स्वस्थवृत्त द्वारा की जा सकिी िैं।
  • 12. धमायथयकाममोक्षाणां आिोग्यं मूलमुक्तमम् । िोगास्तस्थापहतरि : श्रेयसो जीक्रवतस्य च ॥ (च . सू .30/26) • पुरुषाथि की प्राक्ति सम्भव िभी िै, जब व्यक्ति णनरोग रिेगा क्ोंणक रोग व्यक्तियों क े सुख व स्वास्थ्य को िर लेिा िै। • णि ऐषिाओं की प्राक्ति भी स्वस्तृि द्वारा की जा सकिी िै।
  • 13. महत्व - सवयमन्य परित्यज्य शिीिमनुपालयेत् । तद् भावे क्रह भावानां सवायभाव: शिीिणाम ।। ( च.क्रन.6/7) व्यक्ति को सभी कायि छो़िकर सविप्रथम शरीर का पालन अथािि् स्वास्थ्यरक्षि करना चाणिए, क्ोंणक स्वस्थ रिने िी अन्य भाव िै। यणद स्वास्थ्य िी ठीक निीं िोगा िो क ु छ कायि सम्भव निीं ।
  • 14. न जन्ुुः कक्रश्चदमिुः पृक्रथव्ां जायते क्वक्रचत्। अतो मृत्युिक्रनवाययुः स्यान्द्रिन्ु िोगाक्रन्नवाियेत् ।। ( श.संक्रहता ) इस पृथ्वी पर ऐसा कोई भी जन्तु निीं िै, जो अमर िो, मृत्यु अणनवायि िै। परन्तु, रोगों का णनवारि णकया जा सकिा िैं।

DIMENSIONS OF HEALTH Physical Dimension • All the organs of the body are of proportionate in size. • Body well clothed with firm flesh • Good appetite , regular activity of bowels and bladder • Coordinated bodily movements • Sound sleep • Pulse ,B.P , R.R. Evercise tolerance are normal and according to age ad sex .

Mental dimension- • A state of balance between the individual and the surrounding world, a state of harmony between oneself and the others, a coexistence between the realities of the self and that of the other people and that of the environment. • Free from internal conflicts, he is not at "war" with himself • Well adjusted with others • Searches for identity • Has a strong sense of self-esteem • Faces problems and tries to solve them intelligently 3. Social dimension- • Harmony and integration within the individual, between each individual and other members of of society or environment in which they live. • It is the ability to see oneself as a member of large society. 4. Spiritual dimension- • Having meaning and purpose in life. • Commitment to some higher being . • Having intigrity, principles and ethics.

  • 18. Well being - Well being of an individual or group of individuals have objective and subjective components. Objective Components – 1) Standard of Living – Income and occupation , Standard of housing , sanitation and nutrition , the level of provision for health , education , recreation and other services . II ) Level of Living – It consists of nine components : 1-Health 2- Food consumption 3-Education 4- Occupation 5- Working conditions 6-Housing 7-Social security 8-Clothing 9- Recreation 10- Leisure and Human right.
  • 19. Subjective components – It is referred to as Quality of life. The condition of life resulting from the combination of effect of the complete range of factors such as those determining health , happiness, education, social and intellectual attainments , freedom of action, justice and freedom of expression.
