Dear Judges:
I am excited to tell you about my senior project. My name is Aaron Pratt and for three of the four
years I have spent at CreekviewHigh School my favorite class has been Broadcast and Video
Production. So for my senior project I decided to combine my love of movie making with my
dreams of having a career in emergency medicine. I decided that I would spend time with the fire
fighters at station five in Macedonia. Then I would use the information I learned to create a
documentary about what it’s like to have a career in Emergency Medicine.
I attended a two hour training every Thursday night that my project facilitator taught. After I had
done this a few times I decided to gain more knowledge and earn my CPR certification. So I
attended a CPR class taught by David Kleiman. This proved to be more difficult than I thought it
would be as we not only had to work around his schedule and my schedule but also work around
another person’s schedule that also needed to take the class. Once I finished getting my CPR
certification I picked a few people that I had met during the course of my project and interviewed
them. I then had to compose those into a short video. This proved difficult as I had to make a
movie shorter than I thought and it was more difficult to make a documentary then I had
originally thought.
I chose to do this project because I had been highly influenced throughout my life to go into the
medical field, for reasons such as the reliability of having a job and the amount of money they
make. Beacause of the senior project I not only learned that I didn’t want to go into the field of
emergency medicine but that I don’t want to go in to the medical field at all. Instead I plan on
pursuing a career in psychology. I will be going to Gainesville State University and earning my
associates degree then transferring to a larger university. I learned through the senior project that
I don’t enjoy medical classes or physical contact with people. I learned how to communicate
with adults on a professional level.
2. The senior project has helped me more in deciding my career than in helping me with my work
habits. This being said I am still glad that I was made to do it because without the senior project I
would probably still be going to college for a career that I would not be interested in.
Sincerely,
Aaron R Pratt
