2. I used a wide variety of media technologies in each stage of my promotional package. In the construction
stage, I had to rely on creative forms of production. My video required quality production methods which
involved the use of equipment such as Canon 600D cameras, tripods and studio lighting, as well as editing
software for post-production for which I used Adobe Premier Pro to edit my footage. Editing software is a
very successful and efficient technology as it quickly and accurately allowed me to reorder and trim my
footage, meaning I had no trouble when it came to intertwining separate footage to combine my narrative
and my performance. Using the equipment gave me good end results, however using things such as
shoulder mounts or Steadicams to place my camera on so that walking movements in some of the
narrative shots were smoother could have given a higher quality finish, but I am happy with my videos
outcome. As my ancillary products didn’t have any photographs and was constructed around my freehand
graphic designs I didn’t need to rely on as many media technologies as I did for my video, so I utilised
programs such as Adobe Photoshop and also used web browsers such as Google Chrome for reference
when it came to my artwork and researching the existing products to make sure I followed the codes and
conventions of legal content and publishing rights. I could have used Adobe InDesign when constructing
ancillary products as it is a more flexible programme in terms of adjusting font spacing and accurate
alignments, but I feel as though the final outcome in Photoshop required no additional features which
InDesign provides, allowing me to use a programme which I myself am much more familiar with.
3. When in my research and planning stages, I relied on the internet (web 2.0) to research existing products,
which had strong influences on my final outcome in terms of following appropriate codes and conventions
as well as making decisions to break them for reasons relating to genre and audience response. To present
my ideas, I used a wide range of software from Microsoft office documents to internet presentation
websites which I embedded into my blog to present. These methods were efficient as it allowed me to
explore new and exciting ways of presentation which could relate to the information appropriately, for
example charts, diagrams and posters which could be created to emphasise my findings.
4. My evaluation stage combined both kinds of techniques from my research and planning and construction
stages. To obtain feedback I used programmes such as Microsoft PowerPoint to present questions to peers,
and used physical media technologies such as voice recorders and a camera to provide evidence for my
focus group, as well as using online services such as SoundCloud to upload and present my work, allowing
my evaluation to be varied not only in content but in methods of obtaining and presenting feedback. I have
also used different presentation methods to present my evaluation responses, making each response not
only detailed but fresh and interesting to view. The use of media technologies is efficient and reliable due
to the utilisation of things like web 2.0 and cross media convergence, making sharing, receiving and
accessing all kinds of products and information simple and fast. I have also created a compilation of logos
showcasing all of the media technologies I have used.
