1. The Sun heats water in lakes, rivers, seas and
oceans.
Some of this water evaporates and changes into
water vapour.
Water vapour rises into the sky and forms
clouds.
Water in the clouds falls down to the Earth as
rain, snow or hail.
Most of this water flows into rivers, and the rivers
take it back to the sea.
The Sun heats the water and the water cycle
starts again.
2. ● Water is constantly
moving and changing
place and state.
● But the Earth’s water is
never lost.
● Water in rivers travels to
the sea.
● Some of the water in the
sea then evaporates
and forms clouds.
● Later, it rains and the water in the
clouds falls down to the river again.
3. FROM THE SEA TO THE AIR
● The heat from the
sun makes water in
seas, lakes and
rivers evaporate little
by little.
● This water vapour
rises and forms
clouds.
● Clouds are made
up of tiny water
droplets.
4. FROM THE AIR TO THE EARTH
● The water in clouds
can fall to earth as
rain.
● If the temperature
is very low, the
water in the clouds
can freeze and fall
to earth. It falls in
the form of snow or
hail.
5. FROM THE EARTH TO THE SEA
Water falling to earth can
form rivers, lakes or pools.
It also can be stored as
snow on the mountaintops.
It can also percolate
through the soil.
Rivers take this water back to the sea.
In this way, the water cycle begins all
over again.
