Reading Recovery is an early intervention program for first grade students who are in the lowest 10% of reading abilities. It provides daily one-on-one 30 minute lessons for 12-20 weeks to help students develop literacy skills. Research on its effectiveness is mixed - two studies found it significantly improved students' reading abilities while one found no improvement over other interventions. Determining whether Reading Recovery truly works depends on which research is analyzed.
