Ceremony In The Giver By Lois Lowry
The Giver by Lois Lowry took place in a Dystopian society where a young boy named Jonas went
on a risky journey to make people feel feelings. In the community there was ceremonies when they
reach a ceremony and they get something from that ceremony. In the ceremony of one they get
named and out into a family unit. In the ceremony of three they are instructed in correct language
and dream telling begins. Ceremony of four their jacket fastens on the back. In the ceremony of
seven they begin wearing front button jacket. In the ceremony of eight they get smaller buttons their
jacket, they get their comfort object taken away, and they start their volunteer hours. Ceremony of
nine they get their bike and the girls lose their hair ribbon. In ceremony

The Giver Epilogue
"Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard
music too. But perhaps it was only an echo"
As Jonas look at Gabe he realized that he and Gabe had finally made it. Jonas then glanced up from
Gabe's face and he realized where he was. He thought it looked familiar to him. It was a memory the
Giver had given him before. It wasn't just any memory either, it was the Giver's favorite. The
thought of the Giver made him tear up. Jonas never realized how much he enjoyed the company of
him, how he shared all of his feelings and the memories together, now all he has right now is Gabe.
He was so happy to have Gabe. Now he had to keep Gabe safe, protect him and share his memories
with. Jonas starts to get up off the sled with Gabe in hand. he trudges to the door, and knocks hoping

The man then tried to deny it. The two of them were interrupted when Elida walked back into the
room. She was carrying soup and two big fleece blankets.Jonas immediately got up and grabbed a
blanket. He then thanked Elida and curled up in front of the fire. Elida picked up Gabe and started to
feed him some of the soup. He ate all that he was given right up.
"So what did you and Jonas talk about Samuel?" Elida questioned the man.
"I think he knows," Samuel told his wife.
" How did he find out?" She questioned.
" I might have accidentally called him by his name," Samuel mumbled.
" What is going on here?" Jonas said with a puzzled look.
Elida sat down and looked at Samuel, " When you were born you looked just as Gabe does. Now
that doesn't surprise me though, considering you are brothers. Please Jonas don't worry i'm going to
explain everything."
Jonas didn't know how to react, at the same time he was happy that he had saved his brother, but
also confused as to how these random strangers are telling him about his

Sign Language: A Short Story
Sitting at the dinner table, I watched my mom take the freshly cooked steak and bread out of the
oven. I have been long awaiting the food since less than an hour ago, my family came back from
sledding at First Parish, a five–minute drive from my house in Norwell. My mom brought the food
over to the table and my family and I began our usual Sunday night dinner. I immediately began to
tell them about my day in preschool and how my teacher, Mrs.Rose taught me the alphabet in sign
language. I put my fork down to sign my name when my mom stopped me. Looking back on it, I
realized I saw it coming, the accumulation of cardboard boxes and the recent yard sale was only a
portion of the weird things that have been taking place in my previously monotonous ... Show more

I was sad that I would have to once again leave my new found friends and much to my disbelief,
North Carolina felt like home. That August the cardboard boxes came back out from retirement and
the yard sales began once again, and suddenly, I was ecstatic about moving back home. I wish I took
that time to enjoy the last of my stay, yet I ended up fantasizing over the first cold weather I would
get to experience in two years, causing me to miss out on all the fun things that the beginning of

How To Write An Essay About We Ll Meet Again Poem
We'll Meet Again By Vera Lynn We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn was released in 1942 during World
War II. Vera Lynn is a british artist who is known for writing inspiring and cheerful songs for
soldiers during the war. She was considered to be an "allied forces' sweetheart" meaning the the
soldiers from the United States of America, United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China would
listen to her songs regularly in order to keep their spirits up during the war. With other songs being
broadcasted over the radio such as White Cliffs of Dover, I'll be Seeing You, It's a Lovely Day
Tomorrow, and even more, she was able to reach out to the British soldiers to provide peace and
comfort in hard times. She is still a household name and alive and kicking today. I chose this song
for many reasons. One of the reasons is that; she is because she is a well–known artist from this day
and age. While she sings songs about war, she touches the hearts of many other people. In the first
portion of the song ,she starts it by saying "We will meet again, don't know where, don't know when,
but I know we'll meet again some sunny day, keep smiling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His song entitled Same Love really shows how much he cares about this topic. He believes that
equality should be allowed for everyone and that it does not matter what gender, race, ethnicity, or
any other topic not included in that list, is. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis both stand by the concept
that human beings are to be treated the same way with the same rights no matter the circumstance.
In this song, he really demonstrates how everyone should be treated the same. In the modern era,
most recently to be exact, people have been advocating and protesting to make things equal for
everyone. The most recent case was when the LGBTQ successfully made gay marriage legal in
every state. It is absolutely insane to me that that was even illegal at a point in

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to live in a perfect world? In the story "The Giver" by
Lois Lowry, Jonas a 12 year old, lives in a utopian society, and is chosen to be the next Receiver of
Memory. As he goes though his training, Jonas soon learns that his world is not as perfect as it
seems. Jonas and The Giver, the old Receiver of Memory, decides that they have to change the way
the society works. So late at night, Jonas runs away with his brother Gabriel, who was supposed to
be released in the morning. As they run away, they go through many struggles, but in the end they
make it to their new home. I believe that Jonas and Gabriel make it to the new world because they
love and trust each other, they are optimistic, and they are resourceful and strong.
The fact that Jonas and Gabriel love and trust each other helps them survive and make it to the new
world. Jonas makes it very clear in the story that he loves Gabriel because if he didn't love him, then
why would he risk his life and mission to save Gabriel. Gabriel in return, protects Jonas as much as
he can even though he is only a little toddler. Gabriel helps Jonas spot planes that are searching for
them while Jonas pedals the bicycle through various districts and turains. The love and trust they
have for each other is a key factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story it states" Jonas felt more and more certain that the destination ley ahead of him.". This
quote shows that even in the most critical moments that Jonas is optimistic about his and Gabriel's
future, even though they could die with one wrong move. In the story it also states on page 164, that
he had gotten this far that he had to keep going showing that he was not going to give up, and that
he was going to find a way for him and Gabriel to survive. Jonas' optimistic point of view makes his
and Gabriel's chances of survival considerably

Celebrities Right To Privacy
The Right to Privacy
Many individuals believe that when someone becomes a 'celebrity', they must give up their privacy
and personal lives. This statement, concluded by several people, is completely incorrect. Celebrities
do not want to give up their freedom or right to privacy when becoming famous, unfortunately, it is
their crazy, obsessive fans who want to know every single detail about what is happening in that
star's, not so secretive, life. They are continuously followed and stalked by reporters and the
paparazzi who never take a day off, leaving celebrities with constant claustrophobia. Digging into
the lives of celebrities and discovering their deepest, darkest secrets, is simply just entertainment for
those interested. Forgetting that those who are famous need privacy in their lives, is a serious issue
in society that is causing many conflicts with celebrities nowadays; individuals are invading their
privacy and not accepting this right, they are making them feel claustrophobic and watched at all
times, and they truly do not care for those who are famous, only for the entertainment they are
creating.
Modern day people continue to ask the following question; Seriously, they get paid loads of cash,
why do they get mad about pictures? The truth, however, is that everyone deserves their privacy,
after all, celebrities are just like everyone else, human beings. Being an actor or actress is an
occupation like any other. There is a difference between taking photos while they're working or
publishing information and taking photos of them with their children, families or friends on their
own time. Imagine being in their position and being watched all the time, while living their life and
sometimes making poor decisions. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone's mistakes are all
over social media. People go through rough times when growing up, in order to become the best
version of themselves, but every celebrity is constantly reminded of every bad choice they have
made. Many celebrities including Justin Bieber have been in this type of situation. For instance, in
2012, Bieber was accused of battery by a photographer who claimed he roughed him up and left him
in need of medical attention after he tried to

The Giver
"It wasn't a practical thing, so it became obsolete when we went to the Sameness." (pg. 84) The
Giver, by Lois Lowry, is told from the point of view of a twelve–year–old boy named Jonas, who

Receiver of Memory, the most honored assignment that anyone could have been given in their

It shows that the society he lived in was controlled to a point where they were afraid that even the
slightest change of weather would harm the members. Though, what does the snowfall really mean
for Jonas? Jonas's experiences with his memories are intimately connected with the idea of snow,
from his first received the memory of sledding through snow on a hillside to his experience of a
broken leg, and finally to his real encounter with it at the novel's ending. As with many other things
that have been eradicated through Sameness, snow involves the dangers that the community chose
to end in its hope for safety. At the same time, however, it brings Jonas great joy, through his
exhilaration in his first memory and in his apparent recognition of the existence of Elsewhere in the
last chapter. Snow is neither good nor bad, but the novel shows Jonas enjoying the fact that he did
have a choice to make the best out of it, even when he was hurt by his sledding

Demi Lovato's Cool For The Summer: Song Analysis
Demi Lovato is a Pop song singer and writer. After breaking away from acting she began to focus on
her musical career. As Demi developed as a singer and song–writer, she began writing songs about
the world around her, and soon Demi's songs took on the under lying tune of Cultural Marxism. This
tune has become more and more evident over the four–year span of Demi's music–only career. Her
songs have grown into a sexier provocative theme, many of her most popular songs question and
promote sexuality, the focal point being the LGBTQ community. These songs come from Demi's
two latest albums. Demi Lovato is an artist who has entwined Cultural Marxism in the heart of her
sound to stand up the LGBTQ community.

This album is full of songs that promote the ideas of Cultural Marxism. The two singles from this
album, Confident, and Cool for The Summer express the most Cultural Marxism. The second single
from this album, Cool for The Summer, this song has many elements of hidden gay or lesbian
references. In this song the lyrics alone give out the sound of Cultural Marxism. This song is about
experimentation and keeping such things secret. Demi makes references to cherries and a paradise,
which are sexual allusions to the female body. Demi uses this song to promote that loving someone
of the same sex is not an evil thing and something to be curious, which she is stating isn't a bad
thing. The other single from this album, Confident, doesn't have such forward and apparent
references to of sexuality. This song is just as the title suggests, all about confidence. But just
confidence in the original sense, but confidence to be as you, whatever that maybe. Demi uses this
song as a backup to her other song Cool for The Summer. Since they are featured consecutively on
the album, they both play off one another to support Demi Lovato's Cultural Marxist

The Giver Theme
Imagine being trapped in a community and everyone is the exact same. Imagine feeling not special
in anyway. Everybody wears the same clothes, rides the same bike, the weather is always sunny
behind clouds, and there is no color. Well Jonas had to live in the society for many years until his
world was turned upside down. In The Giver, the Giver is the receiver of memory for the
community. The receiver of memory is in charge of the memories of the past that the community
doesn't know about. The ceremony of 12 is when the people of 12 is given there jobs picked out by
the elders. The elders are the main committee of the community, they make the decisions. Jonas was
then given the one of the highest job of the community, Reciever of memory. The job was rare and
only chosen once the old receiver is about ready to pass. The receiver of memory passes the
memories of the past that he got from the previous receiver of memory. The Giver is the receiver of
memory he gave Jonas memories he never knew about. He transferred them by putting his hand on
Jonas's back and transferring them. When his memory was gone and in the new receiver the memory
would vanish from his memory and transfer into the new receiver's memory. Until the new receiver
passes the memories on. In The Giver, By Lois Lowry, The theme of, sameness means everything
being the same and nothing being different is supported by these symbols: No Color, Bikes, and the
weather.

How would you feel if you were not able to have a choice? Your spouse would be assigned; you can

this seems too good to be true. The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a boy named Jonas in a fictional
utopia where the community, ruled by elders, implemented sameness and took away color to make
the community 'better'. Jonas is selected to be the Receiver, a job where you have to hold all the
memories of the community. But when Jonas sees his dad kill a twin that was too small and realizes
his baby brother will be released, his perspective changes. In the beginning of the book Jonas makes

I Am A Blonde Bombshell
Just like every other young girl at the age of ten, I screamed and cried for the Jonas brothers as they
sang "Burnin up" on my living room television. But, there was someone else who intriguingly
caught my attention every night in that same living room, her name was Tricia. Tricia, the second
oldest, blonde bombshell took the center of attention every night, as she dazzled everybody away
with her college etiquette. Behind her beauty, honor roll achievements, and being the only member
in our family to attend college, there was something else that I admired more than just Tricia herself;
it was the "gibberish" she spoke. It wasn 't "goo–goo gaga" baby gibberish. Her "gibberish" was
fluent, constant, bold, and captivating. She made every story sound interesting, and could keep her
audience listening in awe. Tricia's "gibberish" was state of the art vocabulary words I have never
even heard before, words that I never even knew existed. She baffled me with her sentences
containing words like; hackneyed, jubilation, and perfidious. "How could I gain this "gibberish"?"
"Did I have to be blonde?" "I was not smart enough?" Of course, these are some of the bizarre
viewpoints; I questioned myself about on, how I could obtain such "gibberish". I yearned to sound
"smart" just like Tricia, which later on led me to my obsession with Sanabria 2 enhancing every
aspect of my vocabulary. After spending sometime researching, I found that reading, writing,
listening, and speaking are the

Good Or Bad?-Personal Narrative
Have you ever done something that you knew was wrong? If so, it was probably just before or
during high school as an adolescent, when many kids start to rebel against their parents. I guess you
could say what I did was rebellious. On that beautiful, June day, I learned that if you try something
different, like I did with my friend, Addison, it doesn't change who you are, it's just a way of
learning more about yourself. To give you a little background information, I had been a good kid. I
didn't break the rules (other than talking too much) and I was a terrible liar. If I ever even attempted
to lie, I'd get nervous and start to do things like avoid eye contact, turn red, and get a shaky voice.
This always happened because I was so nervous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I simply said, "I just hung out with Bailey and Addi. Bailey had to bring her sister with because she
was babysitting." It was as smooth as ice and the best lie I had ever told. This experience didn't lead
me into doing anything crazy and when school came around, I got my restricted license like Addi,
and continued to be the good girl I always was. Just because I had done something that was crazy
and rebellious, didn't mean that my whole life had changed. I simply learned that it's okay to have
some fun every once in a while, but that it doesn't mean you are a different person. It's just like
cheating on a diet. If you "accidentally" eat something you shouldn't, it doesn't mean you have to
ruin a whole day or week of your diet to have a cheat day/week. A small lapse in judgement is what
makes for great stories and I think people need to live on the wild side every once in a while. So, I
pose a question once again... Have you ever taken a ride on the wild

shocked him. The change Jonas went through was dramatic. The events Jonas goes through is very
important in the how he changed. Jonas found out about things he never wished he knew. He was a
young, innocent, trustworthy boy who changed into a loving, older brother that rebelled against his
community.

The memory of family. Jonas had liked the feeling of warmth he received alongside with the
memory. He had asked his parents that night at dinner whether they loved him. Jonas was told that
love was an inappropriate term. The next morning "for the first time, Jonas did not take his pill.
Something within him, something that had grown there through the memories, told him to throw the
pill away." (Lowry 123).In other words, the memory Jonas received about family from the Giver
gave him wisdom/knowledge that told to throw away the pill. Jonas's action symbolizes a very big
change as Jonas used to follow the community rule to take his pill after he has had his stirrings. This
was until he received the memory of family from the Giver. The memories Jonas received from the

Future Choices In The Giver By Lois Lowry
Experiences humans have had in the past affect the choices they make. What if our memories never
affected our future choices? In The Giver, Lois Lowry shows us a society where all memory of the
past has been taken away in order to create peace and order. The community assigns one person to
hold all the memories of the past. In The Giver, things begin to change when Jonas receives his first
memory. The memories begin to alter Jonas's perspective and change his life. Lowry's novel shows
us that the memories we have experienced in the past have a direct impact on our future choices.
One time we see where memories affect choices is when Jonas runs away with his younger brother
Gabriel because the next morning Jonas's dad was going to kill Gabriel.

Anthropology : An Intimate Ethnography
Anthropology: An Intimate Ethnography
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was driving to Mount Shasta with my friend, Marley, and her
parents for the weekend. It was about a four–and–a–half–hour car ride full of two eight year olds
giggling in the back of the car and two parents blasting Disney radio in the front seats. Marley's
mom's phone rings and she picks it up as we continue to sing our young hearts out to the Jonas
Brothers. All of a sudden my friend and I hear her mother shriek with a pain we have never heard
before. Her mother cries out, with tears bursting uncontrollably from her eyes. Marley and I go
silent and wide–eyed with shivers down our spines. We had never seen a grown up act this way. She
hits her husband's bicep repeatedly rocking back and forth in her passenger seat screaming, "WHY!"
Her husband is in the driver's seat and he is pale. He is repeatedly yelling at his wife "What
happened?" getting louder and louder. We are swerving off the highway to pull over and she yells
"Dean died!" My friend and I look at each other. We didn't know a Dean. The father forces his
weight on the brake as we enter the shoulder of the highway, we jolt forward as our seatbelts lock.
Marley's mother immediately gets out and crawls into a fetal position on the curb. Her husband gets
out of the driver's seat and walks onto the highway, unfazed by the cars passing him on the freeway.
Her parents talk for what felt like hours to us children sitting silently in the back

From Britney Spears And Justin Timberlake
From Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, the "Disney
Machine" has produced numerous superstars that continue to be relevant in todays pop culture. No
other empire has managed to produce talent quite like Disney. So, how does the Walt Disney
Company do it? They combine fresh new talent with money, power, and a ton of control to produce
shows and artists that are constantly influencing pop culture. A large number of today 's pop stars are
tied to Disney in one way or another.
The Walt Disney Company is a multi–billion dollar powerhouse with many different revenue
sources including the Disney parks and cruises, Pixar Animation, Disney Channel, Radio Disney,
and many more. Even though it is such a successful company, there are some things that are not very
great about it, one of those being how the company treats its stars. Many former Disney stars have
expressed their unhappiness with the company since cutting ties years ago. Celebrities such as Joe
Jonas, Miley Cyrus, and Cole Sprouse have all recently discussed their issues with the megacorp.
However, before we get to that, let 's start at the beginning. Disney Channel, the focus in this paper,
was officially launched in April of 1983. The channel is marketed toward children, teens, and
families, calling itself a "family–oriented" cable channel. Disney 's Channel first hit show, Kids
Incorporated, launched in early 1986. The sitcom was about a group of friends who formed a pop

The three most downloaded songs from each of Taylor Swift's six albums, a total of 18 songs, will
be coded to identify the most commonly expressed themes that fans are likely to internalize. In order

(iTunes, Billboard, VEVO, Spotify). Songs under analysis include: – Taylor Swift (2006): "Our
Song," "Picture to Burn," and "Teardrops on my Guitar" – Fearless (2008): "Love Story," "You

The prominence of specific themes will be noted per song and then evaluated across all six albums.
By doing so, coders can locate the overarching themes expressed through Taylor Swift's music, as
they are more likely to be acquired by her fans. Only the themes that are explicitly and clearly
portrayed will be coded, in order to avoid over counting. Coder Training and Reliability Testing The
sample will be analyzed by two coders to check for reliability. Qualitative Content Analysis In order
to locate the expected themes for later coding, a preliminary qualitative content analysis was
performed of the 18 songs in the sample. One coder examined each song at the expression level in
order to identify the commonly expressed themes, as well as analyze the level of dominance per
each expression. This process constructed a list of themes, which were then ranked based on
prominence throughout Swift's six albums. The following measures were located: bad break–
up/revenge, one and only/soul mates, secrecy/intimacy, fairytale romance/idealization of the perfect
relationship, on–again off–again relationship, romanticizing of the bad boy trope, crazy ex–
girlfriend, girl power/feminism, unrequited love, and reckless adolescent

A Brief Summary Of The Giver By Lois Lowry
Jonas. An interestingly vague character. As the story starts we get almost no background. Yet as the
story progresses we learn more, and more about his life. Past, Present, and Future. He never knew
his true parents, and was essentially adopted by his current family. He has one sister and two
parents. He is 11, I believe, at the beginning of the story, and is tentatively awaiting the ceremony of
the 12's. The coming of age ceremony in his society. Being supposedly "chosen" by an anonymous
council, becoming essentially the keeper, or more accurately the receiver, in his (presumably post–
apocalyptic) civilization. To fulfil this calling, he must go through pain, trials, threats, and many
people lurking, and watching. After many months of training he unearths ... Show more content on

babies' failure to thrive) in a storm he steals the baby away from the daycare only a day before the
baby was scheduled to be released. And he sets out on his amazing, and epic journey. Slowly yet
surely he makes his way through forest, desert, and snowy mountains. Yet halfway through his
travels he realizes he is going to run out of food. As a true Samaritan he cuts his food intake down to
only the bare minimum, so that the baby may be able to eat and survive. As time goes by Jonas has
stopped eating at all and is giving everything to his brother. As he unknowingly ascends the final
mountain his body begins to fail. As he arrives at the summit, he looks down and with everything he
has left, he takes one step. A step full of agony, and despair and as he completes his step he fumbles
and collapses. Falling down the mountain he desperately tries to protect his brother... Hours later he

Musical Autobiography
My life has always been centered around music even before I was born. Music is a big part of whom
I am because it something I can go to and play on the piano when I am stressed or sad. Music for me
is a calming force that helps solve my emotions. Music is such an important role in my life because
at a very young age I watched my mother play the piano which in time made me want to learn as
well. Throughout my life, I have learned to play the piano and the flute and wished I knew how to
play the cello and the oboe. I grew up in a family who loved music. Ever since I was in first grade, I
could read music and started to learn to play the piano. There was always a piano in our house, and

had a music appreciation class where we had two assignments that really helped shape my musical
tastes. The first one we were told to make a playbill on a Broadway musical we liked but prior to
that class I had never been to Broadway. My partner and I chose to do ours on Wicked which is now
one of my favorite albums to listen to and I hope I get to see in person someday. This assignment
started my love for all things Broadway. The second assignment we had in that class was a report we
had to do on one of our favorite artists. I had done mine on the Rascal Flatts but the really changed
my opinion on music from that assignment was the peer pressure of my class to like rock music and
rap. To this day I still don't like to listen to rap but I have learned to like rock music. The music I
like to listen today ranges from Contemporary Christian music with artists like Matthew West,
Newsboys and Francesca Battistelli to Rock bands like Bon Jovi and Journey. I still hold some
country bands like Reba McEntire and the Rascal Flatts dear to my heart but they are not the only
genre that I hold dear to my heart. There are a lot of artists that I no longer like to listen to some of

Conformity versus Individuality in A Wrinkle in Time and The Giver
In The Giver, and The Wrinkle In Time they finally realize individuality. The wrinkle in time author
is Madeleine L'Engle. The givers author is Lois Lowry. Meg finally realizes that individuality is
good. Being your own person is good. Instead of being all the same. Jonas realizes that they had

importance of individuality through the characters' realizations, the leaders who control society, and
the conflict the characters resolve.
One way the authors show the theme is through the characters realizations. In A Wrinkle in Time,

Chapter Summary: The Giver
As the sled slowed Jonas had checked his surroundings and the first thing he glimpsed was a house
with a smoky chimney, indicating someone was in fact in there. "Look Gabe we did it," Jonas said
still observing the small house. Now as he looked down at Jonas he realized he looked very pale and
felt extremely cold. "OH NO! Did his memory of the warm sunny day wear of on him?" Jonas
thought to himself. He called out Gabe's name still no response, he even yelled in his ear, sobbing
with tears for he knew what was really wrong, but denying the truth because the pain would be
unbearable. Gabe was dead. Jonas finally accepted this. He never felt pain like this before, not even
when the Giver gave him the most painful memories. His head ached from crying. His heart was
broken. He took Gabe out of the community to prevent death. Now Jonas felt like his dad because
he feels like he was accountable for Gabe's death. "I brought him from death only for him to die,"

The Role Of Music In My Life
Bono once said, "Music can change the world because it can change people". Music has changed me
into the person I am today. I believe that music heals my life problems. I remember running around
in the Blockbuster video store my parents owned, always drawn to the music section. Although my
parents weren't heavily influenced by music, I branched out and discovered a whole new world. I
found myself getting my first MP3 player at age 7. Although The Jonas Brothers and High School
Musical were less influential in my life, it did expose my mind to music. In a more recent time, I
find the lyrics to songs very powerful and meaningful. Each song has a meaning, and every song I
listen to can relate to my life. I mostly listen to very sad songs, and although it sounds disheartening,
it's what I can relate to the most. There was a time in my life when I was very lonely and unhappy. I
had no one to relate to, except for when I found lyrics in a song. Music helped save my life, it was
there even in the darkest of days. Music then made me a much happier person. It was difficult to
express my feelings and emotions, but I felt that I finally wasn't alone. It helps me find myself and
my happiness every day. Every time I am in a bad mood, I just put on my headphones, listen to
some of my favorite voices, and tune out the rest of the world. At the end of the day, if no one else is
there for me, I know music is. The tune of a song is always something that I enjoy because it brings

The Giver Movie And Book Comparison Essay
The Giver started off as a book. Then it was transformed into a movie. These are some differences
between the two. First off, in the book Jonas is 12 years old and in the movie he is 18. Which brings
me to my next reason. They added a special ❤ between Jonas and Fiona that was not in the book.
In the movie there was a lot of things left out. Like in the movie they skipped a year. When you look
In the book it showed when he was a 11 and then his sister was waiting for a bike. Also when Jonas
left in the movie the giver gave him the memory of strength and courage. In the book he does not
receive the memories of strength and courage. In the movie when Jonas was escaping from the
community he rode off in a motorcycle from one of the leaders. In the book he rode a bike. In the
book when Jonas is riding away with Gabe he has to hide behind trees and duck behind bushes so he
would not be seen by the drones. He also runs out of water so he has to drink from a pond he passes.

Here they are. The movie and the book have all of the same characters. The movie didn't add
anything or leave out any characters. The book and the movie have the same concept. Like Jonas has
been chosen to be the new receiver of memory. He gets the memories and figures something bad
out. So then he wants to leave because his "brother" is going to be killed. He has to go to
"elsewhere" to give the community all of the memories. The book says that there is no color. In the
movie it is all in black and white until the very end where he gives everyone the memories. In the
book they all have the same jobs as the movie they did not add any or take any away. The movie had
the same type of community as the book. They have the same rules and the same objects. Finally
they have the same memories. Except in the movie they have like a montage of him getting the
memories. In the book they have them all

Ceremony In The Giver By Lois Lowry

  • 1. Ceremony In The Giver By Lois Lowry The Giver by Lois Lowry took place in a Dystopian society where a young boy named Jonas went on a risky journey to make people feel feelings. In the community there was ceremonies when they reach a ceremony and they get something from that ceremony. In the ceremony of one they get named and out into a family unit. In the ceremony of three they are instructed in correct language and dream telling begins. Ceremony of four their jacket fastens on the back. In the ceremony of seven they begin wearing front button jacket. In the ceremony of eight they get smaller buttons their jacket, they get their comfort object taken away, and they start their volunteer hours. • 3. The Giver Epilogue "Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo" As Jonas look at Gabe he realized that he and Gabe had finally made it. Jonas then glanced up from Gabe's face and he realized where he was. He thought it looked familiar to him. It was a memory the Giver had given him before. It wasn't just any memory either, it was the Giver's favorite. The thought of the Giver made him tear up. Jonas never realized how much he enjoyed the company of him, how he shared all of his feelings and the memories together, now all he has right now is Gabe. He was so happy to have Gabe. Now he had to keep Gabe safe, protect him and share his memories with. Jonas starts to get up off the sled with Gabe in hand. he trudges to the door, and knocks hoping ... She was carrying soup and two big fleece blankets.Jonas immediately got up and grabbed a blanket. He then thanked Elida and curled up in front of the fire. Elida picked up Gabe and started to feed him some of the soup. Now that doesn't surprise me though, considering you are brothers. Please Jonas don't worry i'm going to explain everything." Jonas didn't know how to react, at the same time he was happy that he had saved his brother, but also confused as to how these random strangers are telling him about his ... • 5. Sign Language: A Short Story Sitting at the dinner table, I watched my mom take the freshly cooked steak and bread out of the oven. I have been long awaiting the food since less than an hour ago, my family came back from sledding at First Parish, a five–minute drive from my house in Norwell. My mom brought the food over to the table and my family and I began our usual Sunday night dinner. I immediately began to tell them about my day in preschool and how my teacher, Mrs.Rose taught me the alphabet in sign language. I put my fork down to sign my name when my mom stopped me. Looking back on it, I realized I saw it coming, the accumulation of cardboard boxes and the recent yard sale was only a portion of the weird things that have been taking place in my previously monotonous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was sad that I would have to once again leave my new found friends and much to my disbelief, North Carolina felt like home. That August the cardboard boxes came back out from retirement and the yard sales began once again, and suddenly, I was ecstatic about moving back home. I wish I took that time to enjoy the last of my stay, yet I ended up fantasizing over the first cold weather I would get to experience in two years, causing me to miss out on all the fun things that the beginning of second grade would ... • 7. How To Write An Essay About We Ll Meet Again Poem We'll Meet Again By Vera Lynn We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn was released in 1942 during World War II. Vera Lynn is a british artist who is known for writing inspiring and cheerful songs for soldiers during the war. She was considered to be an "allied forces' sweetheart" meaning the the soldiers from the United States of America, United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China would listen to her songs regularly in order to keep their spirits up during the war. With other songs being broadcasted over the radio such as White Cliffs of Dover, I'll be Seeing You, It's a Lovely Day Tomorrow, and even more, she was able to reach out to the British soldiers to provide peace and comfort in hard times. She is still a household name and alive and kicking today. I chose this song for many reasons. One of the reasons is that; she is because she is a well–known artist from this day and age. While she sings songs about war, she touches the hearts of many other people. In the first portion of the song ,she starts it by saying "We will meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day, keep smiling ... He believes that equality should be allowed for everyone and that it does not matter what gender, race, ethnicity, or any other topic not included in that list, is. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis both stand by the concept that human beings are to be treated the same way with the same rights no matter the circumstance. In this song, he really demonstrates how everyone should be treated the same. In the modern era, most recently to be exact, people have been advocating and protesting to make things equal for everyone. The most recent case was when the LGBTQ successfully made gay marriage legal in every state. It is absolutely insane to me that that was even illegal at a point in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your jobs are chosen for you, your partners as well, no one bothers to question the ways of the committee of elders. You could say that the committee of the elders is their form of government. Every year during December, until you've reached the year of 12, there is a ceremony for each age as you pass onto the next, helping you age, for example, at age 9, you get a bicycle, it's against the rules to have a bicycle or ride one before then. At the ceremony of Twelve, you get your predetermined lifelong jobs. Jonas gets chosen for a very important job, one which gives you a great honor. He is chosen to be the next receiver of memories. He is chosen to keep the memories of the past, when things were different, much different. The memories are passed down to Jonas by the receiver before Jonas, who's now known as the Giver. The protagonist is the main character of the story or the 'hero'. The protagonist makes the important choices and experience's the consequences of these choices. Jonas is the protagonist of The Giver. Jonas has light eyes, which are very rare in the community (pg26). He has dark hair which is cut short like the rest of the males. • 11. The Giver Research Paper Have you ever imagined what it would be like to live in a perfect world? In the story "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, Jonas a 12 year old, lives in a utopian society, and is chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory. As he goes though his training, Jonas soon learns that his world is not as perfect as it seems. Jonas and The Giver, the old Receiver of Memory, decides that they have to change the way the society works. So late at night, Jonas runs away with his brother Gabriel, who was supposed to be released in the morning. As they run away, they go through many struggles, but in the end they make it to their new home. I believe that Jonas and Gabriel make it to the new world because they love and trust each other, they are optimistic, and they are resourceful and strong. The fact that Jonas and Gabriel love and trust each other helps them survive and make it to the new world. Jonas makes it very clear in the story that he loves Gabriel because if he didn't love him, then why would he risk his life and mission to save Gabriel. Gabriel in return, protects Jonas as much as he can even though he is only a little toddler. Gabriel helps Jonas spot planes that are searching for them while Jonas pedals the bicycle through various districts and turains. The love and trust they have for each other is a key factor ... • 19. Celebrities Right To Privacy The Right to Privacy Many individuals believe that when someone becomes a 'celebrity', they must give up their privacy and personal lives. This statement, concluded by several people, is completely incorrect. Celebrities do not want to give up their freedom or right to privacy when becoming famous, unfortunately, it is their crazy, obsessive fans who want to know every single detail about what is happening in that star's, not so secretive, life. They are continuously followed and stalked by reporters and the paparazzi who never take a day off, leaving celebrities with constant claustrophobia. Digging into the lives of celebrities and discovering their deepest, darkest secrets, is simply just entertainment for those interested. Forgetting that those who are famous need privacy in their lives, is a serious issue in society that is causing many conflicts with celebrities nowadays; individuals are invading their privacy and not accepting this right, they are making them feel claustrophobic and watched at all times, and they truly do not care for those who are famous, only for the entertainment they are creating. Modern day people continue to ask the following question; Seriously, they get paid loads of cash, why do they get mad about pictures? The truth, however, is that everyone deserves their privacy, after all, celebrities are just like everyone else, human beings. Being an actor or actress is an occupation like any other. There is a difference between taking photos while they're working or publishing information and taking photos of them with their children, families or friends on their own time. Imagine being in their position and being watched all the time, while living their life and sometimes making poor decisions. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone's mistakes are all over social media. People go through rough times when growing up, in order to become the best version of themselves, but every celebrity is constantly reminded of every bad choice they have made. Many celebrities including Justin Bieber have been in this type of situation. For instance, in 2012, Bieber was accused of battery by a photographer who claimed he roughed him up and left him in need of medical attention after he tried to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(pg. 84) The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is told from the point of view of a twelve–year–old boy named Jonas, who thought he growing up in a Utopian society. He attended the Ceremony of Twelve, where every Twelve receives their life–long occupation, and Jonas found out he has been selected to be the Receiver of Memory, the most honored assignment that anyone could have been given in their Community. The current Receiver (called Giver by Jonas) transfers memories of pain, joy, feelings, and the idea color to him, which takes a big toll on the child. It shows that the society he lived in was controlled to a point where they were afraid that even the slightest change of weather would harm the members. Though, what does the snowfall really mean for Jonas? Jonas's experiences with his memories are intimately connected with the idea of snow, from his first received the memory of sledding through snow on a hillside to his experience of a broken leg, and finally to his real encounter with it at the novel's ending. As with many other things that have been eradicated through Sameness, snow involves the dangers that the community chose to end in its hope for safety. At the same time, however, it brings Jonas great joy, through his exhilaration in his first memory and in his apparent recognition of the existence of Elsewhere in the last chapter. Snow is neither good nor bad, but the novel shows Jonas enjoying the fact that he did have a choice to make the best out of it, even when he was hurt by his sledding ... The community had changed a great deal, since Jonas left. Where he had gone, no one knew, in fact many suggested a ceremony of loss for him, but it was never executed. There was no ceremony needed to remember Jonas, for he had given them something more. When the community first received the memories, there was chaos. They panicked at the fact that they now saw, and felt things that no amount of word precision could describe. As Demi developed as a singer and song–writer, she began writing songs about the world around her, and soon Demi's songs took on the under lying tune of Cultural Marxism. This tune has become more and more evident over the four–year span of Demi's music–only career. Her songs have grown into a sexier provocative theme, many of her most popular songs question and promote sexuality, the focal point being the LGBTQ community. This song is about experimentation and keeping such things secret. Demi makes references to cherries and a paradise, which are sexual allusions to the female body. Demi uses this song to promote that loving someone of the same sex is not an evil thing and something to be curious, which she is stating isn't a bad thing. Everybody wears the same clothes, rides the same bike, the weather is always sunny behind clouds, and there is no color. Well Jonas had to live in the society for many years until his world was turned upside down. In The Giver, the Giver is the receiver of memory for the community. The receiver of memory is in charge of the memories of the past that the community doesn't know about. The ceremony of 12 is when the people of 12 is given there jobs picked out by the elders. The elders are the main committee of the community, they make the decisions. Jonas was then given the one of the highest job of the community, Reciever of memory. The job was rare and only chosen once the old receiver is about ready to pass. The receiver of memory passes the memories of the past that he got from the previous receiver of memory. The Giver is the receiver of memory he gave Jonas memories he never knew about. He transferred them by putting his hand on Jonas's back and transferring them. When his memory was gone and in the new receiver the memory would vanish from his memory and transfer into the new receiver's memory. Until the new receiver passes the memories on. But, there was someone else who intriguingly caught my attention every night in that same living room, her name was Tricia. Tricia, the second oldest, blonde bombshell took the center of attention every night, as she dazzled everybody away with her college etiquette. Behind her beauty, honor roll achievements, and being the only member in our family to attend college, there was something else that I admired more than just Tricia herself; it was the "gibberish" she spoke. It wasn 't "goo–goo gaga" baby gibberish. Her "gibberish" was fluent, constant, bold, and captivating. She made every story sound interesting, and could keep her audience listening in awe. Tricia's "gibberish" was state of the art vocabulary words I have never even heard before, words that I never even knew existed. She baffled me with her sentences containing words like; hackneyed, jubilation, and perfidious. "How could I gain this "gibberish"?" "Did I have to be blonde?" "I was not smart enough?" Of course, these are some of the bizarre viewpoints; I questioned myself about on, how I could obtain such "gibberish". I yearned to sound "smart" just like Tricia, which later on led me to my obsession with Sanabria 2 enhancing every aspect of my vocabulary. On that beautiful, June day, I learned that if you try something different, like I did with my friend, Addison, it doesn't change who you are, it's just a way of learning more about yourself. To give you a little background information, I had been a good kid. I didn't break the rules (other than talking too much) and I was a terrible liar. She wouldn't cut me from the team. There was no doubt in my mind that my seventh grade year was going to be the best and I was going to make the team. The school day had finally ended, and the loud siren indicating the end the class had gone off temporarily deafening everyone in the building. I was super anxious walking down the hall to the gym. I asked the teacher if I could go to the bathroom and change so I wouldn't waste time changing in the locker room. When I had finally reached the gym I sat in the bleachers and tossed my bag behind me. I closed my eyes and smelled the stench of the newly polished floor. I imagined being out on the floor and a crowd of people behind me chanting my name. I was abruptly pulled out of my daydream by my name being called by the coach. She asked me to help set up the net and get the equipment. I was an expert at setting up the net. I did it with ease as the others watched in awe. • 61. The Role Of Music In My Life Bono once said, "Music can change the world because it can change people". Music has changed me into the person I am today. I believe that music heals my life problems. I remember running around in the Blockbuster video store my parents owned, always drawn to the music section. Although my parents weren't heavily influenced by music, I branched out and discovered a whole new world. I found myself getting my first MP3 player at age 7. Although The Jonas Brothers and High School Musical were less influential in my life, it did expose my mind to music. In a more recent time, I find the lyrics to songs very powerful and meaningful. Each song has a meaning, and every song I listen to can relate to my life. I mostly listen to very sad songs, and although it sounds disheartening, it's what I can relate to the most. There was a time in my life when I was very lonely and unhappy. I had no one to relate to, except for when I found lyrics in a song. Music helped save my life, it was there even in the darkest of days. Music then made me a much happier person. It was difficult to express my feelings and emotions, but I felt that I finally wasn't alone. It helps me find myself and my happiness every day. Every time I am in a bad mood, I just put on my headphones, listen to some of my favorite voices, and tune out the rest of the world. At the end of the day, if no one else is there for me, I know music is. The tune of a song is always something that I enjoy because it brings people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
