2. What is it? Hypoglycemia is a condition in which a persons blood sugar levels are low. Low blood sugar levels cause symptoms to let you know you need to take care of it. Once your blood sugar returns back to normal, these symptoms go away. It affects your pancreas, liver, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
3. Why does it happen? Hypoglycemia occurs when a persons blood sugar is low. How does someone’s blood sugar get low? Low blood sugar occurs when the level of sugar, or glucose, in the blood drops too low to give the body energy. Glucose is a sugar produced from digested carbohydrates. Glucose is carried in the blood stream. When your blood sugar rises, your pancreas releases insulin from its cells to help maintain normal blood sugar levels. When the blood sugar drops, glycogen is released. Unused glucose is stored in the liver as glycogen. Low blood sugar triggers hormones by pituitary and adrenal glands (these help bring the blood sugar back to normal).

6. Why should you care? Diabetes is becoming a more and more common disease. The biggest reason is from obesity. Hypoglycemia many times is from having diabetes.
