2. WHAT IS POLYDIPSIA????
• Polydipsia is a symptom associated with Diabetes mellitus and Diabetes
insipidus. Polydipsia is a term used to explain excessive thirst which is one of
the symptoms of diabetes. Polydipsia is also associated with temporary or
prolonged dryness of the mouth. Diabetics who experience excessive thirst
also can have high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Hyperglycemia causes
diabetes to have an imbalance of water in their body. Polydipsia is usually
the first symptom a diabetic will have due to the fact that diabetics usually
have urinary conditions.
• Polydipsia is caused by not drinking enough water after the lost of a lot of
fluids. It also cause dehydration, sweating, excessive urinating. Some
medications can cause polydipsia such as corticosteroids, diuretics (in pill
form). Consuming a lot of salt, vitamin D in some foods and drinks, boredom
or anxiety can cause you to drink a lot of water due to nervousness.
3. SOME SYMPTOMS
• Extreme thirstiness, passing abnormally high amounts of urine, a
persistent feeling of dryness in the mouth. Diabetics may have
symptoms such as feeling abnormally hungry, having blurry vision,
exhaustion, abnormal weight loss, getting frequent sores or infections.

• What is HYPERCALCEMIA???????
• IT is a condition where the calcium levels in your blood is above normal.
Too much calcium in your blood can weaken your bones, create kidney
stones, and interfere with how your brain and heart works.
Hypercalcemia is usually caused by the tiny (parathyroid glands) in your
neck to having to much activity. (working harder then normal) or it can
be a result of cancer. The most common cancers that are associated with
hypercalcemia are breast, lung, and multiple myeloma.
5. SOME SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
• Nausea, poor appetite, vomiting, and constipation may be present with
mild increases in blood calcium levels. High levels may cause fatigue or
excessive tiredness. Abnormal heart rhythm, increased urinary frequency,
and kidney stones. Also increased thirst, belly pain, bone pain, muscle
weakness, and confusion.
6. HOW TO CORRECT HYPERCALCEMIA
• In some cases the doctor may recommend: Calcitonin (miacalcin)
• Which is a hormone from salmon that controls calcium levels in the
blood.
• Calcimimetics This is a drug that helps to control overactive parathyroid
glands
• Bisphosphonate
• Denosumab
• Prednisone
• IV fluids and diuretics
