1. ASSURE Method
1-Teaching the months of the year to a 1st grade class, Special Ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white
20% African-American and 10% Latino.7 students in the class have mild to severe ADHD
(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
1-Teaching the basic colors to a 1st grade class, 5 students are color
blind. 3 of these students are girls and 2 of the students are boys.
A-Colorblind students
S - The learning outcomes would be the student doesn’t feel different
and they learn their colors
S – Coloring books that are labeled with the colors in them
U - Prepare coloring book that labeled and crayons for them to color
with that had the name of the color on the side of the crayon.
R – Make sure that the student is participating in the coloring activates
to make sure that they understand.
E – Before introduce the color one at a time so that the students clearly
understand the colors that they are learning. Once the activities is over
collect the papers and make sure that everyone understood the colors.
Step One: Introduce the colors in front of the whole class one at a time.
Step Two: Have an activity where they can color that color on a
coloring book and while the students that are not colorblind are doing
that work with the students who are.
Step Three: Explain the colors to them like this is green they might see
it as blue but they will know the true word for it.
Step Four: with the colorblind kids that online see black and white and
not the shade of it label things for him/her.
