1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. My course
• In the process of making my media product I used a
wide variety of hardware and software appliances.
Using a wide range of these allowed me to progress
throughout my project as I was able to adapt and get
used to different programmes. I had never made a
blog at the start of my media course and joining this
course allowed me to blog sufficiently and up to a
high standard also my used of being able to edit
photos of Photoshop has excelled as I never used it
before and every time I used this application I learnt
more about it and am now confident to use it with
different aspects of my work.
3. Use of software
• When doing my market research I used a range of
software to gather information such as I used survey
monkey to produce my survey and then used Facebook
to put my survey out there and allow people to take
part in my survey for me to gather information, I also
viewed other magazines through Google to compare
the differences between them and my magazine.
• I also used these products; blog spot, Mictosoft Word,
Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, Dafont,
Paint, SurveyMonkey to plan out my magazine.
4. Hardware
• I used a Sony camera to take pictures to put
on my final image, I also used a pen drive to
back up all my work that was saved onto my
computer so it wouldn’t be lost if it wasn’t
updated onto my blog.
5. What I’ve learnt
• I’ve learnt a great deal throughout this course, I’d never used a
blog before and I learnt to blog frequently and found myself at
ease doing so. I also then found myself using survey monkey for
my market research which allowed me to used a brand new
website that I wasn’t familiar with and gain an understanding of
how to use it and also came in useful to use on my other courses
in college. The main thing I learnt the most about was using
Photoshop, I had used it previously but hadn’t used the majority
of tools on their and wasn’t confident in using it and now I am
able to produce a magazine cover and edit photos, cut out
images to fit what I need, used different layers and do this
without feeling like I’m unsure of what to do which enabled me
to slowly grasp different concepts of Photoshop and develop
deeper into them as I could edit things and if I didn’t like it I
could always change it back.
6. Use of technology
• The idea of having the coursework all done
entirely through computer work is a good idea as
paper based work would put you at a
disadvantage as work wouldn’t have been as well
presented and as neat as on a computer, the use
of computer means it’s all saved onto a computer
and there is less risk of anything getting lost
which is a negative of paper based work.
Although I did come across some problems when
using the computer I still have a preference
towards the outcome of my work on the
computer than if I had to do it all by hand.
