2. Throughout, this whole project, audience feedback
has played an immense role. The most important
thing, which I was really conscious about, on which
I was depending, from which I have been taking
help and due to which I was able to complete my
project was the “audience feedback”. Because this
fact cannot be ignored that whatever media
project you have worked on is made up for the
audience and your first duty is to fulfill their
demand, only then, one will be able to achieve
satisfactory results; you cannot give them what
you wish to give (this is something which we have
studied in our theory as well). For example, I
wanted a confusing ending for my music video, but
the questionnaire results were not in that favour,
therefore, I changed the ending into a happy one.
In order to follow this phenomena properly, I
carried a detailed research on the chosen genre-
Pop and on its codes and conventions, so the
audience would be able to relate its codes and
conventions with the other pop music videos,
which the people like to see.

4. For a more in-depth knowledge of the demand
of our target audience, I used various methods. I
designed a questionnaire based on pop music,
but it was not a proper close ended
questionnaire; a semi-structured questionnaire
was used. Though, most of the questions were
multiple choice questions, however, the
audience was also asked their opinions about the
requirements and promotion of a music video.
Then, I took interviews of my actors (who are
fans of popular music, therefore, fall under the
category of its target audience as well). Besides
that, comments were also received through
various methods. For example, during the
construction stages my media teacher used to
show my blog to the whole class on multimedia
and my classmates used to give their opinion,.
Then, through my cell phone by using
applications such as whatsapp, viber and etc, I
used to ask my friends about my projects and
they used to give me ideas which were quite
helping.
5. I used to get
feedback through
all these
elements.
6. Through, this target audience research, I got to know what
kind of elements and shots I need to add in my music
video. Then, other blogs from some other senior students
helped me a lot, as people used to comment on their
products and work, and sites such as twitter, blogger,
Facebook and etc, and all those elements such as like or
dislike, which these social sites contain as an entertaining
and interesting feature determines the popularity of a
product among people, which as an audience response
proved to be highly significant for me.
I can’t say that my work is flawless, but I’m sure I’ve added
all those things which the target audience (teens, couples,
girls, even families) of Popular music finds exciting. For
example, through comments on Youtube and Dailymotion
videos, I got to know that those songs which had that mis-
en-scene showing an indoor area, dim lighting and
romantic atmosphere are really appreciated by people; like
a video song on Dailymotion known as “ Sadi Galli Ajaa”
received a lengthy discussion between people, which was
only about that particular scene, and I should mention this
that I was not impressed by that scene, but the viewer’s
discussion diverted my attention towards that scene, and I
7.
8. decided to put something like that in my music video as well.
The audience feedback is a major reason behind the better
outlook of my second year’s blog as compared to my first
year’s blog. In fact, I was able to produce this video because
my friends and classmates suggested me to cast the most
famous couple of my school, though, they refused me, but it
was because of that idea that I got this idea (so there won’t
be any issues about the romantic scenes) to ask two of my
friends (who are in a relationship) to be a part of my music
video and they agreed, and it resulted in a good product, with
great maintenance and attribution of realism.
Then, during the making of my ancillary products audience
feedback played a vital role.
I was not sure about the colour contrasts and designing styles,
my friends and classmates gave me ideas and I used to apply
those, which I found the best. When I asked people, for the
final feedback some criticized my work and some appreciated
it, but whether it was the criticism or the appreciation, it
brought benefits to me, as I’ve learned so many things from it.
Moreover, it helped me build my confidence, taught me to
face criticism, advised me not to be too pseudo-professional
and most importantly, it gave me experience!
