12. Aim of our study
• The aim of our study was to increase the
awareness and knowledge of diabetic eye
conditions among type 2 diabetic population
attending Diabetic Center, Buraidah Central
Hospital (BCH).
• To determine the knowledge and awareness of
type 2 diabetic patients on diabetic eye
conditions.
• To know the effect of Intervention (health
education) on knowledge of diabetic eye
conditions.

13. Materials & Methods
• Prospective hospital based -cross sectional
study.
• Questionnaires (Pre & Post test) were
given to 100 Diabetic patients to find out
the knowledge and awareness of Diabetic
Eye Conditions before and after
intervention ( booklet).

24. Discussion- Research Significance
• Optometrists have both the capacity and
responsibility to increase patient
awareness about diabetes , facilitate early
detection, and assist in eye disease
management and treatment.
• Awareness and knowledge could lead to
better understanding and early treatment
of diabetic eye complications ,thereby
reducing visual impairment in Saudi
Arabian diabetic population

25. Conclusion:-
• Information booklet intervention on diabetic eye
conditions by final year OD student to type 2 diabetic
patients demonstrated a better understanding among
patients visiting Buraidah Central Hospital.
