In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions
         of real media products?

Introduction
• In this presentation I will be explaining the
  codes and conventions that I have used and
  challenged and I will explain my reason for
  them
• One of the ways that I have used a convention
  of making a music video is by reflecting the
  narrative of the song in my video I have done
  this by capturing some shots of the sun which
  reflects the lyrics “Here Comes The Sun” as
  well as other shots of the singer being happy. I
  felt that this worked well considering the
  music video is mainly a performance video.
• Another way that I have used a convention of
  music videos is that I tried to make the pace of
  editing to match the song which I believe has
  gone out of synch a couple of times but I am
  planning on fixing it
• In my music video I got the singer to play on
  his own as well as having the band playing
  together. So it shows him as the main person
  in the band. I done the filming of the band
  outside to make it look like organic
  surroundings and I played the song out loud
  so they can play along with it. I felt that the
  performance from the singer and the band
  was good, but my video needs to include
  more variety from the band playing.
• The location of the music video was all in
  grassy wooded areas as I felt that this went
  well with the lyrics and the era of the original
  songwriters The Beatles. I thought the
  location showed well in the video and that I
  made sure the weather worked well, which it
  did and the sun gave a nice glare in some of
  the shots, to give a nice effect.
• The costumes that were worn in the music
  video were casual clothes. The style of the
  music video is not a serious one as it is a very
  laid back happy song, so the costumes that
  they are wearing are clothes that are modern
  and are likely to be what young people are
  wearing these days. The costumes I felt were
  pretty good as it worked well and there is a
  shirt that says rising dawn which worked well
  with the sun theme.
Props
• The reason that I chose the music instruments
  that was in the video to be simple is that the
  song is simple and not to many different
  sounds was used in the song so I wanted to
  match it. I thought that it worked, as there
  were no inappropriate instruments in the
  piece and they were all clear to see. The props
  of the music video was an acoustic guitar a
  stripped down drum kit and a bass.
Digipak
Front Image
• In the front image of the digipak I got the
  band together and I took a few shots of the
  band. I n this image I done a few layers in
  Photoshop with effects over each other to
  give it a look as if it was from the same era as
  the Beatles as that was a experimental time. I
  also done a 60s like font which was used in
  the 60s,although I would like to change it as it
  doesn’t look right with the image
Inside
• On the inside of the Digipak I used an image that
  was from the music video and layered it with
  other images. I felt that this worked well as the
  picture gave a similar feel to the front and back
  image. Like the front image a used effects in the
  layering. The font was also the same as the font
  in the front image but unlike the front image I felt
  that this worked well with the image. In other
  albums I noticed a thank you page that mentions
  people that got involved with the making of the
  album so I thought it would look nice.

Back Image
• On the back of the digipak I got an image with
  the singer playing as he’s the main front man
  in the band and it shows his significance
  against the other members of the band. I also
  done the song titles in the same font as the
  other pages but I think I should of done it
  different to give more of a variety as well as a
  different colour.

• For the magazine advert I noticed that other
  bands have used the same picture in there
  adverts and Digipak so I thought that might
  work well with this. So I used the same picture
  but underneath I named some websites that
  they can get it from as well as the date it will
  be released. I think I should have sized the
  picture better as well as blending the logos for
  iTunes and Amazon

I felt that this worked well considering the music video is mainly a performance video.
  • 4. • Another way that I have used a convention of music videos is that I tried to make the pace of editing to match the song which I believe has gone out of synch a couple of times but I am planning on fixing it
  • 5. • In my music video I got the singer to play on his own as well as having the band playing together. So it shows him as the main person in the band. I done the filming of the band outside to make it look like organic surroundings and I played the song out loud so they can play along with it. I felt that the performance from the singer and the band was good, but my video needs to include more variety from the band playing.
  • 6. • The location of the music video was all in grassy wooded areas as I felt that this went well with the lyrics and the era of the original songwriters The Beatles. I thought the location showed well in the video and that I made sure the weather worked well, which it did and the sun gave a nice glare in some of the shots, to give a nice effect.
  • 7. • The costumes that were worn in the music video were casual clothes. The style of the music video is not a serious one as it is a very laid back happy song, so the costumes that they are wearing are clothes that are modern and are likely to be what young people are wearing these days. The costumes I felt were pretty good as it worked well and there is a shirt that says rising dawn which worked well with the sun theme.

Props • The reason that I chose the music instruments that was in the video to be simple is that the song is simple and not to many different sounds was used in the song so I wanted to match it. I thought that it worked, as there were no inappropriate instruments in the piece and they were all clear to see. The props of the music video was an acoustic guitar a stripped down drum kit and a bass.
  • 10. Front Image • In the front image of the digipak I got the band together and I took a few shots of the band. I n this image I done a few layers in Photoshop with effects over each other to give it a look as if it was from the same era as the Beatles as that was a experimental time. I also done a 60s like font which was used in the 60s,although I would like to change it as it doesn’t look right with the image
  • 11. Inside • On the inside of the Digipak I used an image that was from the music video and layered it with other images. I felt that this worked well as the picture gave a similar feel to the front and back image. Like the front image a used effects in the layering. The font was also the same as the font in the front image but unlike the front image I felt that this worked well with the image. In other albums I noticed a thank you page that mentions people that got involved with the making of the album so I thought it would look nice.   • 12. Back Image • On the back of the digipak I got an image with the singer playing as he’s the main front man in the band and it shows his significance against the other members of the band. I also done the song titles in the same font as the other pages but I think I should of done it different to give more of a variety as well as a different colour.

  • 14. • For the magazine advert I noticed that other bands have used the same picture in there adverts and Digipak so I thought that might work well with this. So I used the same picture but underneath I named some websites that they can get it from as well as the date it will be released. I think I should have sized the picture better as well as blending the logos for iTunes and Amazon
