NETWORK BRIEF
Brief: Support for Schools, Colleges and University Institutions in
using the CXC® e-Learning platform Notesmaster®

WHAWHAT IS THE NOT IS THE NOTESMASTER SUPPORTESMASTER SUPPORT NETWORK?T NETWORK?
The CXC-Notesmaster initiative is supporting schools, colleges and universities across the Caribbean,
in building on their existing ICT capacities and generating new digital resources to better serve their
students. A collaborative approach has been developed to promote a community of practice involving
the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®), Ministries of Education and regional Intergovernmental
Organisations such as the Commonwealth of Learning.
The Notesmaster® e-Learning platform was founded in 2008, to assist in the effectiveness of
technology in raising education standards. Its potential to bring about regional change, led to an equity
partnership with CXC® in 2012. CXC® endorsed Notesmaster's approach in using digital versions of
CXC's own syllabuses to act as a framework for teachers to archive their materials. Notesmaster® is the
only platform in the Caribbean to be configured this way, thus giving significant advantages to users in
helping organise their teaching and learning materials.
The CXC-Notesmaster program is intended to be inclusive, therefore to help schools and institutions in
making the most of this e-learning technology, a support network is available; the Notesmaster Support
Network. Joining the network is not compulsory and schools may use the platform independently.
However it is important to realise that the technology itself is only part of the solution. Communities
need to feel confident in using the technology with an emphasis placed on teacher led experiences and
accessible support when needed. The training workshops throughout the year will allow participants
to learn new skills and gain confidence in using the platform.
Notesmaster® specialises in the collaborative creation and sharing of learning materials between
teachers and their students. The emphasis is on content generation directly on the Notesmaster®
platform; lesson plans, interactive quizzes, assignments and class resources covering the CXC®
curriculum. These materials are stored online in dedicated repositories for schools, institutions,
examination bodies and Ministries of Education. The Notesmaster Support Network focuses on the
creation and utility of these resources, emphasising teaching management for teachers and learning
management for students.
Joining the network is intended to be accessible to all schools, colleges and universities, at a cost
of US$50 per month. If your school or institution is interested in joining the Notesmaster Support
Network, please contact us to schedule a demonstration of the CXC-Notesmaster platform and to
discuss a tailored support program.

Customised Group.
Every member of the support network will have a dedicated group created for them on the
CXC-Notesmaster platform, for the exclusive use of their community. This is linked with the 'Classes'
feature and allows teachers to save and use their materials more easily. Schools and institutions not
in the Support Network are free to create their own groups on the platform.
Provision of introductory training and support workshops for staff and community.
This involves a series of workshops scheduled at convenient times to support teachers and students
in using the platform.
Provision of Training Manual.
A training manual is provided to all members for reference and support in using the CXC-Notesmaster
platform.
Full support to lead liaison.
Each member in the Support Network identifies a CXC-Notesmaster liaison as a point of contact for
their program. Full support via WhatsApp, Skype and Notesmaster® groups, is provided to the liaison.
The liaison is able to contact Notesmaster® support at any time.
Full support to entire school community.
It is crucial that students are also given adequate support in using the platform. This support should
also come at the time of their need; revision, note taking, assignments. The Support Network is
intended to build a community of practice amongst students, encouraging them to help one another.
STEPS TSTEPS TO JOINING THE SUPPORO JOINING THE SUPPORT NETWORKT NETWORK
If you wish to Join the Notesmaster Support Network, the next steps are detailed below:
1. Request a Notesmaster Support Network Agreement: this is a short digital document which is
signed online and returned to us automatically. Upon receipt of a signed agreement, an invoice
will then be emailed with payment details.
2. Appoint the Notesmaster® liaison for your institution.
3. The liaison will be contacted to schedule the introductions and plan the support program.

  • 1. NOTESMASTER SUPPORT NETWORK BRIEF Brief: Support for Schools, Colleges and University Institutions in using the CXC® e-Learning platform Notesmaster® Date: September 2016
  • 2. WHAWHAT IS THE NOT IS THE NOTESMASTER SUPPORTESMASTER SUPPORT NETWORK?T NETWORK? The CXC-Notesmaster initiative is supporting schools, colleges and universities across the Caribbean, in building on their existing ICT capacities and generating new digital resources to better serve their students. A collaborative approach has been developed to promote a community of practice involving the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®), Ministries of Education and regional Intergovernmental Organisations such as the Commonwealth of Learning. The Notesmaster® e-Learning platform was founded in 2008, to assist in the effectiveness of technology in raising education standards. Its potential to bring about regional change, led to an equity partnership with CXC® in 2012. CXC® endorsed Notesmaster's approach in using digital versions of CXC's own syllabuses to act as a framework for teachers to archive their materials. Notesmaster® is the only platform in the Caribbean to be configured this way, thus giving significant advantages to users in helping organise their teaching and learning materials. The CXC-Notesmaster program is intended to be inclusive, therefore to help schools and institutions in making the most of this e-learning technology, a support network is available; the Notesmaster Support Network. Joining the network is not compulsory and schools may use the platform independently. However it is important to realise that the technology itself is only part of the solution. Communities need to feel confident in using the technology with an emphasis placed on teacher led experiences and accessible support when needed. The training workshops throughout the year will allow participants to learn new skills and gain confidence in using the platform. Notesmaster® specialises in the collaborative creation and sharing of learning materials between teachers and their students. The emphasis is on content generation directly on the Notesmaster® platform; lesson plans, interactive quizzes, assignments and class resources covering the CXC® curriculum. These materials are stored online in dedicated repositories for schools, institutions, examination bodies and Ministries of Education. The Notesmaster Support Network focuses on the creation and utility of these resources, emphasising teaching management for teachers and learning management for students. Joining the network is intended to be accessible to all schools, colleges and universities, at a cost of US$50 per month.   • 4. OPTIONS EXPLANAOPTIONS EXPLANATIONTION Customised Group. Every member of the support network will have a dedicated group created for them on the CXC-Notesmaster platform, for the exclusive use of their community. This is linked with the 'Classes' feature and allows teachers to save and use their materials more easily. Schools and institutions not in the Support Network are free to create their own groups on the platform. Provision of introductory training and support workshops for staff and community. This involves a series of workshops scheduled at convenient times to support teachers and students in using the platform. Provision of Training Manual. A training manual is provided to all members for reference and support in using the CXC-Notesmaster platform. Full support to lead liaison. Each member in the Support Network identifies a CXC-Notesmaster liaison as a point of contact for their program. Full support via WhatsApp, Skype and Notesmaster® groups, is provided to the liaison. The liaison is able to contact Notesmaster® support at any time. Full support to entire school community. It is crucial that students are also given adequate support in using the platform. This support should also come at the time of their need; revision, note taking, assignments. The Support Network is intended to build a community of practice amongst students, encouraging them to help one another. STEPS TSTEPS TO JOINING THE SUPPORO JOINING THE SUPPORT NETWORKT NETWORK If you wish to Join the Notesmaster Support Network, the next steps are detailed below: 1. Request a Notesmaster Support Network Agreement: this is a short digital document which is signed online and returned to us automatically. Upon receipt of a signed agreement, an invoice will then be emailed with payment details. 2. Appoint the Notesmaster® liaison for your institution. 3.
