3. Teaser
The teaser trailer for The Blair Witch Project is only a short 46 second clip
which for the majority of the time focuses on only the voice of the female
protagonist. The screen starts of black, then appears the tagline which can
be seen in nearly all advertisements for the film which is seen at the bottom
of this slide. Then panting and heavy breathing begins, enticing audience’s
to continue watching in order to reveal what disruption is about to occur.
The target audience would be intrigued by the typical horror conventions
used in a short 46 second teaser clip. The diegetic sound which is heard is
the voice of the female protagonist who claims the disruption of the film is
down to her and that she is to blame due to the project being her idea. Her
face then appears in a low angle view as she is clearly holding the camera
herself in an awkward position, the young girl looks distressed and
frightened until the title of the film appears and the teaser ends. The target
audience would be encouraged to go on and watch the film due to the
teaser including no re-equilibrium to the film.

5. Official trailer
The official trailer follows the same style as the teaser as it includes the
same and even more horror conventions. The trailer however includes what
looks like real life footage from police and detectives investigating the crime
which has taken place in the woods. The trailer does not follow the whole
narrative of the film which is some ways could add more suspense as
audiences will be more intrigued to see the film. The trailer is not fast-paced
or full of action, it is slow and calm creating more of a sinister effect for
viewers. The way the title of the film is presented is possibly the loudest
noise included and this helps audience members to recognize, hence
remember the name of film and get them talking about it.
