2. I first used my own image of Emily
which was a mid shot, I used this
because it was intense enough to
focus on just Emily and also because
it left no room for distractions.
After changing the image to black and
white I had to add my masthead which
was the white ‘R’ in the blue box.
This was simple as all I needed to do
was copy one image on top of another.
3. After the masthead I
added the headline which
read ‘EMILY HAYES’, it
was simple and eye
catching and sat on the
right hand side of my
masthead like other
magazine layouts show.
4. After creating my main
headline, I then created
my sub heading which
uses the same font and
colour as the headline
but sits under it in a
small font size.
5. Writing colour- I wanted to
change the font colour to
white as I thought the black
was too harsh but I came
across and issue which meant
that the white writing was
hard to read against the
black and white image so I
decided to tamper with the
image of Emily
Image- Using the
Image tab, then
adjustments, I
was able to tone
down the
brightness which
made the white
writing easier
to read.
6. The subheading
seemed to blend in
too much with the
heading so I
decided to colour
co-ordinate it with
the masthead blue
and so it resulted
in the subheading
standing out more.
Underneath the heading and
subheading I added a post
saying ’10-PAGE SPECIAL
INSIDE’ I wanted this to
stand out therefore put it
on a different colour
pattern to the rest of the
writing so far. The two
quotes underneath also
stood out which I was happy
with as I want to readers
attention to be drawn to
them.
7. Lure- Making my lure
was the easiest part
as it was a plain
circle with another
circle inside which I
made opaque as it gave
of a more
sophisticated and
edgier effect.
8. Inside the lure I
added a piece of
writing unattached
to the main
headline and used a
different font for
the number 25 so it
is clear it is an
unrelated piece of
text.
Left third-
The left third
mentions two other
unrelated articles
which are inside, one
on interviews and the
other on dates not to
miss. I made
subheadings which are
placed above opaque
boxes so that the
opaque theme remains
and that they stand
out from the rest of
the writing
underneath.
9. Barcode- Adding
the barcode was
simple as all I
needed to do
was open up the
already saved
image of it and
place it at the
bottom right
corner of my
magazine
11. First I opened up the
image and adjusted the
Hue/Saturation to make
the colours brighter. I
then flipped the image
vertically so that was I
add the writing on the
contents page the image
is not entirely covered.
12. Sticking with the
opaque box theme I
added two long opaque
rectangles vertically
and horizontally to
where my writing
shall lay. This will
make the writing
clearer to read.
Once again I had
to open up an
image of the
masthead and copy
it directly onto
the magazine
contents page. The
masthead sits
behind the opaque
box giving the
contents page a
little something
different.
13. Under where the
masthead sits is
where my article
titles will be so I
added a self made
united kingdom flag
to sit there as it
relates to my first
paged article.
I then added
my ‘CONTENTS’
title and my
first article
title and
page number.
14. After continuously
adding other article
titles I added another
picture of Emily which
relates to the main
article down the bottom
left corner. I also
added large white page
numbers so that it is
clear where the articles
are located.
16. When creating my
double page spread I
needed to use two A4
documents to represent
my double page. The
first page I copied an
image of Emily holding
a guitar and for the
second I had to crop
some of the leaves
from the previous
image and spread it
out to fill the whole
page.
17. The second page contains all the writing and it was
quite simple to create. Using the opaque boxed I
made the headline which reads ‘EMILY IS BACK WITH A
BANG’. The ‘BANG’ is in a larger font as I wanted
this word to stand out the most. The actual article
is written underneath in three columns on
white, small writing. The two paragraphs inside
begins with larger letters just like professional
magazines and this gives of a more sophisticated and
professional look to my magazine.
