This proposal is for a new rock music magazine called "Raw" targeted towards teenagers interested in rock music. The magazine will include gossip and stories about rock artists, their lives and careers. It will also have the regular sections about news, reviews, and reader questions. The magazine will use bold, bright colors and a fiery font for the masthead to make it stand out visually from other magazines. The proposal seeks to have Susan Plagemann, known for successfully publishing magazines like Vogue and Marie Claire, publish this new rock magazine.
1. PROPOSAL:
This is a proposal for my music magazine and I would like to have a rock-theme to my music magazine. What I
would like to call my music magazine is ‘Raw.’ This name goes very well with my themes because it sounds very
current, fresh and very rock which is what rock music is all about and this name goes perfectly with it. I would
like to choose rock because there are teenagers who are more into RnB and Hip Hop and then there’s a certain
amount of teenagers these days who are very current and up to date with rock and I would like my magazine
to be targeted at mostly for teenagers who are into rock music. I would like to put something out in the market
for teenagers who are into rock music because there are magazines out there in the shops which contain
mostly either gossip about celebs or RnB music mostly, I would like to have young rock artists for young fans
who love rock music. Plus, even if you are not interested in rock music you could still pick this magazine up and
be interested in it because it is bold and eye-catching. Furthermore, what will be included in my music
magazine would still be all the is all the regular items such as all the updates/reviews/gossips/articles/question
and answer and many more seeing as these are the type of topics people are most interested in. There would
be updates from the rock industry about the gossip in their lives and how the artists became who they are
today and got their glory and fame in rock music. Moreover, the logo and the colour scheme which I would
choose for this magazine would be consisted and be throughout most of the pages in this magazine and also
on the other magazines which would be produced so everyone can familiarise with it. I would choose big,
bright, bold, eye-catching colours which would make my magazine stand out from all the rest of the
magazines. I would like Susan Plagemann and her team to publish my magazine because she is famous for
publishing ‘Vogue’ which have been a success in Britain and all over other countries too. She also went on to
publish ‘Marie Claire’ and ‘Cosmopolitan’ which have also been a huge success. Since she is known very well
and has had a huge hit with her other magazine she has published I would like her to publish my magazine
too. My target audience for this magazine would be teenagers up to young adults mostly; around from the
age, 12-22. Teenagers these days are very keen on music and some may find this is their hobby which they
enjoy doing. Both genders can be interested in this magazine as it is not targeted just for one type of gender.
2. MASTHEADS:
All these fonts are similar to one another
1) because these go very well with my music
magazine which is all about rock. They all look
very edgy and bold which is what my music
magazine is all about.
2)
The one I’m going to choose is number 3
because it looks very fiery, bold and edgy.
I wouldn’t for example choose number 5
3)
because there seems to be writing on top of
the font and if I had a image as the background
of my front cover then it would just look too
much.
4)
Although number 4 is quite similar to my
chosen number 3, it still looks a bit plain
whereas, number 3 looks like it’s on fire at the
5)
bottom of the font which looks very good
because it’s edgy and rock.
