increase in demand for resources and space. To achieve their goals, humans have caused major
changes in the surrounding ecosystems in many ways. First, they have cleared many areas thriving
with organisms to build roads and cities destroying different ecosystems. Second, they have
overharvested many species for food and resources causing many species to go extinct. Lastly, they
have polluted natural habitats in numerous ways declining species biodiversity. Many people are
familiar with pollution such as air pollution, trash pollution, and chemical pollution. However, a less
apparent type of pollution that is equally important is the pollution of artificial lighting.
Over the past hundred plus years artificial lighting has increased in use dramatically. From 1992 to
2013 there has been an increase in light intensity on coastal zones of about 42% (Brei et al. 2016).
This increasing use of light has had major impacts on surrounding species on land and in water.
Many organisms are nocturnal or depend on light cues to go on through normal daily activities such
as foraging, migration, and reproduction. This disruption in schedule has seen to have major impacts
on varied species. La Sorte et al. (2017) shows how light pollution affects nocturnal migrating birds.
These birds seemed to be attracted to highly lit urban areas disrupting natural behaviors like
migration. Perkin et al. (2014) displays how artificial lighting can affect insects and their ability to

This following science lab reflection is about light and how it bends while it travels from one thing
to another. Our main goal for this lab was to discover how light bends. But the problem is that we
have to break–in and get past laser security in the Whitehouse. I hypothesised that, if we can bend

I think this poem is a story about someone who is dreaming because it says "if I wake up I can write
it down". We don't know who the speaker is or if it's a man or a woman. It could be Kate Barnes.
The first thing I noticed is that the word black is used seven times in the poem. The word silhouette
is also in the poem and a silhouette is a black image. The words dark, darkness, and Ink Spot are
also used. Ink Spot is the name of a thin black dog, so that is an example of imagery for black or
darkness. The word light is used three times. Darkness and light is a recurring theme in the poem.

It's saying that we need to take the time to stop and relax and enjoy life. I think the poet John
Tagliabue is the speaker and he is giving advice about how to live your life. He thinks people should
"stop trying to pull yourself together for some clear 'meaning'" by taking life too seriously. He uses
Van Gogh as an example of someone who was a great painter, but he wound up cutting off his own
ear because of his depression and mental illness, "Look what intensity did to poor great Van Gogh".
Instead, he says we should "be a dumb bell for a few minutes at least". We should let our minds rest
and clear the stress. I think the line "we don't want Sunday church bells ringing constantly" is a
symbol for people always having to be somewhere at a certain time, having too many commitments.
I think the title of the poem means that if you don't go to extremes, then you won't be bored and you
can still be a little intense if you want to be. You can still get really into the things you love, but
don't let anything take over your life. The poem is written as a question and then one long sentence
in two–line stanzas with the second line indented until the final stanza which is three lines with the
second and third line indented. Tagliabue uses a commas and semi–colons as punctuation in the long
sentence. He doesn't capitalize the first letter of the sentence. The punctuation looks different on the

During the Light Dependent reaction, the suns energy is caught by the chlorophyll molecule, this
happens as oxidation. Energy in the form of a photon is required to increase the energy levels of
electrons which move out of the chlorophyll during oxidation. The energy must then be linked to the
ADP reduction to ATP and coenzyme NADP+ which is condensed to NADPH + H+. This reaction
requires light for it to take place, where it occurs on the thylakoid membranes. Energy from the light
is converted into chemical energy. The molecules of chlorophyll are then attached to the thylakoid
membranes, which can be attached with accessory pigments and different types of proteins to
produce a photo system; in the middle of all photo systems there are different types of chlorophyll
each one has a specialized task to absorb a certain wavelength of light. The Electrons inside of the
chlorophyll absorb the energy produced by the photons and intensifies them so that they are excited.
These excited electrons are easily detached from the chlorophyll in the form of oxidation.
The light dependent reaction is used by the light independent reaction by utilizing the chemical
energy from the light to fix the carbon from the atmosphere natural molecules such as glucose. This
process does not need light, which enables it to occur in both the dark and the light periods within
