Descriptive Essay On Aggressive Suicide
My Impressive Warning
"Don't move", a gun pointed my friend and me at a night that I might not forget. That night, my best
girl friend who came from Columbia went through a big change in her life because she suffered
from a sexual assault. I finished the SMU questionnaire about sexual problem in few days ago.
Actually I had either sad or little delight because assigning a questionnaire to students means that a
collage pays high attention to students' sexual problems. However, I felt sad because I recalled my
girlfriend's sexual assault again. No matter how old the women is, there is no doubt that she or her
family or friends were influenced a lot by sexual assault. Also, I was impacted by my friend's sexual
assault so I got warnings and some ideas after that. In order to avoid sexual assault, everyone had
better pay attention to her safety and not have prejudices against someone who suffered from sexual
assault.
I contacted my girlfriend on Instagram two weeks ago. I thought that everything was better about
her at that time because I felt she already had a normal life from her photos. However, I burst my
tears after my friend told me she tried her best to accept the physical and psychological treatment.
Although the sexual assault happened in last year, my girlfriend still faced in her trouble. I
remembered that that day was the second day of our winter vocation. The strange phenomenon was
that a few messages appeared on my phone about same content "Do you know where Lisa

Friends
Friends is an American sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman and produced by
Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
In 1993 David Crane and Marta Kauffman initially named friends as Insomnia Café. They presented
the project to Bright, and together they purposed it to NBC, which is a commercial TV broadcaster,
this means that this broadcaster is financed by advertisers. Regarding the society issue, Friends
satisfy the need for pluralism, more precisely, it can be watched by different publics (different ages,
tastes, ethnics, genres, etc.)
In 1994, after many changes and updates the sitcom was finally named Friends and aired on ... Show

They live together, share their problems, happiness, successes and failures. Friends was a great
success and this created a strong relation between the broadcaster and the viewers, which in a
certain way pressured the broadcaster to want to continue broadcasting Friends and even offered a
superior amount of money than the revenue from advertising. This strong link allowed the
production of two new seasons, in which the last one had the highest price in television history for a
30–minute series.
Historical, social, cultural, political environment of Friends
Historical environment With the early system modifications many sitcoms and telefilms series
started to be produced in Hollywood. Friends is one of these examples.
Friends portrays the 90s period of the United States in which there were no serious problems. In this
comedy we can see the daily life of the characters and there's no focus on the historical environment.
Social environment
Friends changed sitcoms' rules. Particularly, it changed the narrative environment in a sitcom,
changing the main object, the family, to a friends' group. During all series friends have a strong
impact in each other's lives, the characters don't live with their families, but with each other, and in
some situations the friends become lovers. They spend the thanks giving holiday together, without
their families, which started to become common in

Best Friend Story
Let me tell you the story of a boy named Blake who moved to a new town called Weston. In his new
school, he thought he would never make any friends for the next couple of months, but man was he
wrong! Blake was a shy guy today because he was going into a new school and was young for his
grade. And furthermore, almost everyone was older than him, except for in his old school in Natick,
where he had a friend who was 3 hours older than him, born on the same day, month, year, and
surprisingly, the same hospital! But dreadfully, he had to leave his best friend because his parents
got a new job. Anyway, let me tell you the story.
In the summer, Blake was wondering what his new school would be like. He wondered how fast he
would make friends, if the kids there would like him, and he even thought if any girls would think
that he was cool! Blake was sort of confident about going to this new school because he had lots of
friends in his old school, so he would think the same thing would happen here! He asked his parents
what his new school would be like and they said that everything would be fine as long as he is
confident the whole way through. But now that they said that, he knew he wouldn't be fine. So
instead of being confident, he was feeling bad how he isn't going to make any friends in this new
school.
When Blake got to school, he walked inside and went to the front office, and asked where he should
go because he is new here. The woman at the front office told him to go

My Best Friend
Having a best friend that is independent, respectful and hard–working is the type of person Chandler
is. Finding that one person, someone can start to relay on them for countless and bountiful things.
Having that one loving person can do many wild justices for you in your life time and having them
stay in your life is the most overjoyed feeling. Being able to have them see you express the feelings
that you are devotedly feeling; sad, cheerful, angry, and excited means that they won't be making
fun of you, when you are feeling these emotions. Having Chandler be a glowing best friend, is
something that will never be a misconception. Chandler is a beautiful, tall human being with a
skinny build; Chandler has dirty–dish water colored hair with a lush shine to it. He consistently has
a magnificent smile on his face with his dazzling blue eyes. This kid is the most independent,
respectful and hard–working person ever. Chandler is a special person that has entered a life that is
crazy and loving; cherishing every moment with him is the way of growing and sticking together;
the amazing way that someone can impact the way the wild lives today with just a touch of their
precious heart. Being independent is very important to many people these days. Chandler will
always be independent, even with his stubborn mindset personality. He is a kid that will always do a
challenging or easy activity himself or he would prefer to do things himself. While being a sweet,

Aristotle's Six Elements Of Drama Essay
In the popular sitcom TV series Friends (1994– 2010), has displayed all of Aristotle's six important
elements throughout the show that were required for the drama. The main plot of the show is
revolving around six best friends living together in Manhattan, and following up with their everyday
personal and professional lives. Throughout the show, all six elements of drama are being taken
place in the modern series showing that regardless of small changes here and there, there are still
connections back to Aristotle's view.
Aristotle's first element is Plot which requires to have the whole, complete, and magnitude. In the
first episode of season 1: The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate, the storyline starts out with
Monica meeting her old high school best friend Rachel. And since Rachel was having some personal
life problems, she ends up moving in with Monica and stays as her best friend till the end of the
show. The whole of the show is Monica and Rachel's relationship from the beginning till the end has
stayed the same. Although eventually Rachel had to move out of Monica's apartment, their
friendship still continued on and is considered to be stronger compared to the beginning of their
meeting. The complete which is also known as the unity of action was displayed because when the
two girls were having problems, both were able to solve and help out each other. They were able to
put each other as their main priority and showing each other the attention they need. And the
magnitude is absolutely present because although it was quite abrupt with Rachel is moving in with
Monica, but as the story went on. Everything was relevant to all the other characters: Chandler, Joey,
Ross, and Phoebe. Which show the whole purpose of the show, friends are meant to stay together till
the end, even though they all had problems with one another at one certain point, but were still able
to move past and have a stronger, inseparable bond throughout the whole sitcom series.
The second element is Character and each of the characters have displayed moral goodness, true to
life, and had a consistent appearance throughout the show. The first character is Monica Geller, who
is known to be the mom of the group. She has always provided

Cheerleading
At football games you could hear people cheering for the football teams. They were yelling and
being happy. The coaches were cheering for the football team and the crowd was cheering with the
cheerleaders.
The Coach yells," Do your best Girls." In cheerleading the people around you will tell you good job
and they will help you out.
At the Football games people will tell the Cheerleaders and the Football players if we lost that," It is
ok to lose there is more games to win". During the practices and the games, I would get down on
myself and the coach told me," To never get down on myself and to just keep moving forward and to
leave all of the mess up's in the past". There was a lot of people supporting the football team and the
Cheerleaders. My parents told me," To never stop what I was doing if I loved it". At the end of the
football games the cheerleaders and the coach talked and told us," We did a good job at cheering".
Cheerleading was a lot of fun I learned to be a nicer person to people and to help them if they need
it.
The coach told all of us that," We all work better together than not being together because we were
all better together than doing stuff on our own.
At the Practices the cheerleaders did a lot of cheering and stunting.
The coach told us," To never get down on ourselves and to just do our best".
The coach helped me with some of the cheers and the cheerleaders helped me with the stunts. When

Is Friendship Part Of One 's Life?
Is friendship part of one's life? What are the requirements for a friend? Are friends there whenever
one needs him or her? Is there constant communication between friends? How many people
remember the lyrics from that Houdini song? "Friends, how many of us have them? Friends, the
ones you can depend on." The philosopher Aristotle said, "In poverty and other misfortunes of life,
true friends are a sure refuge. They keep the young out of mischief; they comfort and aid the old in
their weakness, and they incite those in the prime of life to noble deeds." In the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Rachel Green, Ross Geller, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Phoebe Buffay are all
friends, living off of one another in the heart of New York City. Over the course of 8 years, these
average group of friends go through massive mayhem, family trouble, romances, fights, laughs,
tears and surprises as they learn what it really means to be a friend. Therefore the TV show
F.R.I.E.N.D.S represents friendship as dependable, honest, and disclosure.
Being supportive of others in their bad times is a defining quality of a good friend, but being
supportive of others in their good times is also essential. Friends show a true depiction of being
supportive when Monica and Ross' grandmother passes away, and all the other four friends go to the
service to pay their respects. Another example is in the episode "The One with the Fertility Test"
Monica and Chandler, who have been trying to have a baby

The Complexity Of Friends In The Tv Show
The tv show Friends is the most funniest and meaningful sitcom of all time. It is about six friends,
three men and three women, who live in the same apartment complex in New York and face life
together as a family. This wonderful sitcom displays the real meaning of friendship and loyalty.
They live their most crazy, funny, and sad moments together. They help guide and support each
other through their tough times. Even though, many people, including myself, may consider the
sitcom Friends as the funniest show ever, many other people disagree; some people think it is
boring, not funny, and very predictable. Each of the characters in the sitcom have a funny
personality of their own. One of the characters is Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox. ... Show

One of the odd traits about Chandler is that he hates Thanksgiving. When he was nine years old, his
parents announced that they were getting a divorce while eating Thanksgiving dinner and also his
father was having an affair with the houseboy. As a result, he refuses to celebrate Thanksgiving
traditionally and eat Thanksgiving dinner. Another character is Phoebe Buffay. She is played by Lisa
Kudrow. Her personality is very outgoing, impulsive, spontaneous, and friendly. She also has an
unbelievable imagination; she created a doll house out of shoe boxes with a slide, an aroma room,
licorice room, and a bubble machine. Also, she has a weird side which she really shows with her
songs. One of her famous songs is called "smelly cat." Furthermore, Rachel Green is another
character in this great sitcom. She is played by Jennifer Aniston. Rachel is caring, loyal, and
dependable. One of the most enjoyable episodes with Rachel is when she sings with Ross, her
baby's father, "Baby Got Back" to her baby daughter to make her laugh. Finally, Ross Geller is one
of the characters that I most enjoyed in the sitcom. He is introverted, caring, shy, and trustworthy. In
one episode, he wanted to show his friends that he knew how to flirt so he was going to flirt with the
pizza delivery girl. Instead Ross ended up talking about different smells of gas with her. All of the
characters have different personalities, but that makes their friendship

Charlie is the main protagonist, he is depressed and sucidal. He is also very awkward and a over–

going into adulthood and don't exactly know what i'm doing. I also like that Charlie changes through
out the book, he becomes happier. The next one is Sam, Sam is a kind and supportive friend but you
know that she has a rough past by the way she talks. She is also in a abusive relationship with a man
three years older than her. As Charlie has romantic feelings for Sam he sees her as only good. That
makes it hard for me to do a character analys on her because it was also some time since I read the
book. The last one is Patrick, I think everyone should have a Patrick in their life. Even if Patrick had
his problems I could always feel that he was a true friend. Patrick is being bullied but he still stays
happy and shots snarky comments to his bullies. He makes it seem like he dosen't care and that it is

Sex refers to the biological distinction between males and females; by contrast, gender concerns the
social differences between males and females. In episode 15 Joey uses pickup lines to try to attract
girls to him which is an example of sex. Also in season 2 episode 4 Rachel rented a movie for the
girls to watch, however Ross does not understand why he is not allowed to join them for movie

Furthermore, the male leads had arguably more respected and higher paying jobs than the female

large multinational corporation. Joey was shown being not as well off financially but was an actor in

Independence Definition Essay
Independence! What is the meaning of this word? Some people have different thoughts, ideas, or
notions of the word but we always hear our parents telling us, from a young age, what it is and we
grow up wanting and striving for that "independence". I remember when I was a teenager, I got into
plenty of arguments with my mother about having friends over and the last thing she would always
tell me after every argument, "Once you get your own place you can do whatever you want." Right
after that I would mutter and mumble to myself, with anxiousness, ignorance, and sometimes anger,
"I can't wait till I'm old enough to get my own place." Little did know, I would soon be ingesting the
harsh reality of my own words.
When I was nineteen the wait was over, I finally got that first step to independence, I had the

roommate and luckily, I thought at the time, my friend told me that he had a friend who has a child
and needed a place to stay. First glance when I met my roommate I saw a beautiful, mature, well–
mannered person; whose clothes looked neat, clean, and pressed. I thought she was the best
candidate to be my roommate, but I was wrong. The first two weeks after her move–in were a living
hell, she was filthy and a slob. She would leave dirty diapers everywhere, her room looked like a

Social Media And Its Impact On Society
In 2008 Joel Garreau conducted interviews and wrote a piece titled "Friends Indeed" for the
Washington Post. Garreau brings up possible dangers, minor inconveniences, and what truly defines
a friend in the new media world we live in. I felt Garreau came across as jaded by most of the
interviews he conducted. He did not seem to speak with a wide array of people that gave positive
impacts social media can have, but rather focused on the negatives of the subject. Garreau did bring
up valid points, however, from personal safety to the aspect of different people in your life seeing
your different personalities. For instance your Grandma that you go to church with on Sunday 's is
now seeing the pictures of you partying with your friends on Saturday night. Specifically in "Friends
Indeed" Garreau covers views on social media and the impacts it has on relationships, representing
all different walks of life from a college student transitioning into the work force to a cattle rancher
from Wyoming. Garreau states, "Networked people who haven 't seen each other in forever already
know about the new boyfriend, and what happened to the old one–in very great detail" (122). In
making this comment, Garreau states that catching up with old friends or family has drastically
changed and seems to imply a real world disconnect in our relationships. However I come from a
large spread out family and it adds to the experience of seeing them when I do know what has been
going on in their lives.

My Favourite Actress
I could not wait till I got home today; today was the awards show and my favorite actress was
nominated for so many things. This actress also happened to be my best friend. Ever since high
school, her and I have been unstoppable. I made sure she never quit trying to become an actress
which was part of the reason she is where she is today. She had been in so many movies that came
out this year and each performance as graceful as the last. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the event
with her because I had an important meeting with my boss to go to earlier in the day and wouldn't be
able to get there in time. I got home and made popcorn to go along with the show. Before I got the
chance to eat any of it or even turn on the tv a knock was heard from my door. I opened it to see a
bunch of my friends with food and drinks and smiles on their faces. I told them not to throw a party
at my house but they seem to not listen. As they came barging in, they took up seats and then
waiting for me to sit down. I sat and we turned the tv on and waited for my best friend to win all the
awards she possibly could, all of which she rightfully deserved. The host of the show came to begin
the show but had a confused look on her face. Something was wrong with the tv equipment and they

The Scream Will Forever Haunt Me
The scream will forever haunt me. I hear "EMILYYYYY" on replay all day in my head. I can still
make out the despair and sorrow in her voice. I later found out that Emily Roland, a twenty year old
student at the University of Minnesota, had fallen to her death at a place I had been just ten minutes
before the fall. It makes me think about if times had changed, and I would have been the one to fall.
This haunts me. It all started with the desire to feel the adrenaline rush of urban explorations. Going

adults were doing it to seek adventure. On June 6, 2015 the abandoned structure I explored was the

obnoxious when they came in, so I assumed that they might be drinking. The group that was leading
my friend and I just ignored them, and kept going up. We stopped at a balcony type area that was

Emily and her two friends caught up with our group at the balcony. They started climbing on things
that were not meant to be climbed, so we left and continued our journey upwards. We finally made it
to the roof. It was about ten floors up. In order to get to the roof you had to climb two different
ladders. The first ladder led to an elevated platform, that had the second ladder leading to the roof.
When I was on the roof, I had the best view of the city I have ever had in my life. Since the building
was so high you could see the entire part of downtown Minneapolis. Eventually, Emily's group and
her made it to the roof. Everything was perfectly fine, until Emily and her two friends decided to
start smoking pot on the roof. Their recklessness made us feel unsafe. We left shortly after. On my

Steve Polimeni's Old Friends-Personal Narrative
Old Friends
A friendship that endures the stress of time is the most unlikely of relationships; much can happen to
separate us from those we decide to love. Unlike family, we choose our friends or, for their own
reasons, they choose us, but either way the bond is often temporary, a result of the circumstances of
the moment. Rare exemptions as durable and as exquisite as diamonds can endure for a lifetime. My
friend Steve Polimeni was my first, best, and continues to be my most enduring and precious
friendship.

My Relationship With An Old Family Friend
Reconnecting with an old family friend
To fully understand my current relationship with nature, it is important to look back over my life and
identify how the relationship came to be, what has hindered and what has sustained this relationship.
In order to do this, I have broken my life down into stages from early years, to teenage years, to
young adulthood and finally onto more recent times. This paper will examine not just my
experiences, but the meanings behind these experiences and how they have come to shape my
relationship with the natural world. Towards the end of this paper I will make links as to why this
understanding is important and how I can use it to enhance my future, not only as a citizen of this
earth, but as a worker in the human services industry, so that I can help others enhance their own
futures.
In the early years of my life, as is probably common to most people, I remember being fascinated by
everything around me and trying to learn as much as I could. During my early years I spent so much
time out enjoying nature whether it was beaches, parks, rainforests, or just lying on the grass under
the big old mango trees in the back yard. I was lucky enough to have a father who was a science
teacher and he was able to teach me so much about the world. No matter where we were, he always
had fun and interesting things to show and tell us. It didn't feel the same as school work, we were
out in nature and learning as we came across something, able to embrace this

Old Friends Research Paper
Though in our fast paced society and easy access to anything, anywhere, at any time with the click

our types of friends, as well as the amount of friends varies as we grow and change. Our lives
become busier, we move towns, we have new jobs, kids, and with all these changes we find that we
often have to adopt to the changes as well as sometimes make new friends. Starting with the young
child, he is a very self sufficient person. He is constantly in his own world and does not realize that
he is ignoring those around him. Because of this he has far fewer friends than what you would
expect for a young child. They often have many acquaintances and from my experience they
perceive themselves to have numerous best friends. He also see all his friends the exactly the same
as him, they all like MineCraft, programming, and what ever his favorite TV show is that week. He
loves himself so he surrounds himself with those like him. He is not upset about the amount of

The characters are like ordinary people who get rained on, like Rachel, and who get divorced, like
Ross. The imperfections are crucial because it brings in realism. In this episode, the viewers see that
Rachel is from a higher class and is used to having everything handed to her on a silver platter. The
rest of the group didn't come from families that are filthy rich, they always had to earn what they got
through hard work and determination. The morning after Rachel spends her first night at Monica's,
she tries to make coffee in the morning, but fails. This shows just how alienated she was from the
world that the rest of the group understands. Even though she has no work experience, she attempts
to get a job, proving how determined she is to become

Personal Narrative Essay : A Snowy Day In My Life
Introduction
It was a snowy day in Chicago Illinois. Joey had just moved in and he was about to have his first
day in school at Lincoln high school. He had just become a freshman that year. His mother Brittany
was unpacking all the boxes from the moving trucks as his father jack was chatting on the the phone
about some houses he was working on.
He took this as a chance to think about how he would have to make new friends from scratch. First
day
It had begun. His first day and year in high school. He was already missing his old friends and
school. The halls seemed like a void he had to go through every day. As the snow outside began to
melt he realized he was all alone. No sooner had weeks passed and he had managed to made a few
friends, to bad they were nothing like his old ones. He started getting into the routine of things since
he moved. His mom has been trying to look for a job so she is always home and on the computer
trying to find one. His dad is going to start working overtime until his mom finds a job so he doesn't
get to see his dad so much anymore. All considering he was almost all alone. "Is this a good thing or
a bad thing?" He thought. He did enjoy alone time because his parents didn't yell at him every five
minutes to get off his butt, stop playing games, and go outside, but at the same time he would
probably be dead without them

"What do you mean 'you're not like me'?" Emele fumed at her sister. "I mean, I have blue hair and
I'm nice to people! You have neither of those qualities." Janelle said. "I was nice to you!" Emele

"Cross? YOU THINK WE'RE CROSS?!? Oh, no. Not just cross." She started. Nyssa smiled evilly.
"Oh dear, Margaret. I do believe you've just let out the beast." She said. "WE ARE BANANAS,

"Wow." Elphaba and Janelle said. The wicked witch leaned over to Nyssa's ear and whispered:
"What was that?" she asked. Nyssa leaned back casually. "It's what she does when she's mad." she

"She does, but we all get a little crazy when we're mad." Nyssa explained, and the two nodded. "Fair

Descriptive Essay: Between Old Friends
Between Old Friends I felt the waxy goo before I saw it. Squinting, for a better look, I carefully
separated the hair that grew from his temples, ordinarily bristling white, but now suspiciously black
and tarry. Interrupting my cutting, I ventured, "Doug, what's all over your hair?" As I awaited his
reply, I contemplated my long professional relationship with the man seated before me. I cut hair
and work with hairpieces for a living. I design, install, and maintain them for fees far below those of
large companies whose lavish infomercials are viewable following David Letterman's show. Doug
was not typical of my clients. He favored a vanity I could not understand and fed it as cheaply as
possible. His obsessive search for his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only the possibility that Doug had finally made a positive advance in his self–image therapy lifted
my spirits. I arrived as directed and waited in the icy dark for him for 45 minutes. He never showed.
A lioness on the hunt, I stalked by his vacant home ready for the kill. Finally capitulating to his
unavailability, I made the long drive home and was met by his very apologetic taped message stating
he had been detained in San Diego. He was contrite as Bill Clinton caught with a cigar in his mouth.
I let my temper roll from a boil to a simmer while I dialed his number. I made demands regarding
payment, playing on his remorse for having inconvenienced me. He agreed to them. Then using the
anonymity a phone affords, he grew bolder and told me to go ahead and order the same piece I had
ordered for ten years: same color and same youthful pompadour style. Cheaply. He had decided to
just dye his hair to match the pitch black thatch of his Wonder Years. Sighing in defeat, I let the
phone find its way to the cradle. I later found myself staring into the bathroom mirror at the lines
and folds which met at the corners of my mouth. I recalled my own struggles with the ravaging
wake of age. I noted the gray starting its asymmetrical march through my hair. I thought of my life
and its cruelties and

Heteronormativity In Nbc's Friends
NBC's hit show Friends has become one of the most–watched and highly acclaimed sitcoms of all
time. Instead of revolving around family and work, like prior sitcoms such as Family Matters and
Full House, Friends changed it up and revolutionized the sitcom landscape by featuring six 20–30–
year old friends living in the New York City borough of Manhattan as they attempt to discover
themselves. From the constant change of careers, whether it was getting laid off or promoted, to
going from relying on their parents to being completely on their own, Friends is able to relate to so
many and remains the show that captures the age group of 10–20 almost perfectly. Although Friends

Compulsory heterosexuality refers to the idea that women and men are innately attracted to each
other emotionally and sexually and that heterosexuality is normal and universal (Rich, 1). I have
evaluated two episodes of Friends that display this phenomenon in which the main characters
assume that heterosexuality is the norm, which often leads to prejudice and stereotyping. Through
these assumptions based off of compulsory heterosexuality, Friends displays evident
heteronormativity. The first example of compulsory heterosexuality occurs in the pilot episode of
the series. In the beginning of this episode, Ross, one of the main male characters, is seen
complaining about his divorce as the rest of his friends try to comfort him with jokes and sympathy.
Eventually, Ross questions the group by asking "What if there's only one woman for everybody,

among the characters. Heroism is described as great bravery. Perry, Peewee, and Lieutenant showed
the most heroism in and off of the field. Richard Perry was a young seventeen–year–old black boy
from Harlem. He did not have the money at go attend college so he decided to join the military.
Perry played basketball throughout his life which resulted in a knee injury, but that did not stop him.
On the way to Vietnam and at the beginning of his time there, Perry did not expect the events that
were about to happen. "We spent another day lying around. It seemed to be what the war was about.
Hours of boredom, seconds of terror." (Myers 132). Perry and the rest of the men in Vietnam were
put into hard positions and had to go through tough things. Perry had his friend, his leader, and was
put into the hospital twice. Jenkins was the first to die among Perry's friends. After the death he was
hurt, but had to continue of and fight for his country. His lieutenant was the next of his close friends
to die. Everyone was devastated about the loss of their lieutenant. The war had barely began,
everyone had to still fight their hardest and not leave their guard down for anything. Many questions

What Is Bumping Into Mr Ravioli
Perspective can change if the world opens up their eyes and hearts to everything around them. In
society, people tend to forget that there are those who have different living conditions compared to
themselves. They do not try to understand what others are going through or what can cause them to
engage in their actions. In "Bumping into Mr. Ravioli", written by Adam Gopnik, the author writes a
story about his daughter, Olivia, creating an imaginary friend that is too busy to play with her.
Gopnik assumes that her imaginary friend is a sign of trauma or a sign of loneliness. At first, he does
not take into account of Olivia's environment or how she sees the world. Outside influences,

Throughout the story, Gopnik decides that Ravioli is an astounding influence on Olivia and that he
was wrong about New York. At first, he thought New York was the problem because it is known to
be a busy state. He declares in the beginning that being busy is horrible and that it took a toll on his
daughter. Although, towards the end of the story, Gopnik changes his mind about busyness and
Ravioli altogether. He sees Ravioli with a new set of eyes and now he understands that even though
Ravioli is busy all the time, he is actually helping Olivia by doing so. Ravioli is allowing Olivia to
become independent, to see the outside of New York in her imagination. Gopnik expands his mind
and realizes that New York is not the perfect place he once thought. He learns about how dependent
everyone is with their communication devices. Adults go to work with their devices and come back
home with e–mails, fax machines and telephones. He believes that communication devices do not
allow one to finish a conversation and become satisfied with it. Also, New Yorkers are building up
walls within themselves and use technology to avoid their friends. Gopnik saw this as a negative
about New York but, he did not notice these negatives until he looked at New York in a new manner.
In order to become a successful human being, one has to open up their hearts and see what others
see. Outside opinions have

The Television Sitcom Friends By Virginia Kantra
The television sitcom Friends has the six main characters involved in many relationships throughout
each season. Since season one, Ross and Rachel have been referred to as the power couple, the glue
that holds everyone together, and according to television critics as CBS they are, "probably the most
iconic TV couple in recent memory" ("The Best TV" 3). This being said, the couple was a known
favorite and attracted many people to the sitcom. This relationship is the favorite because it has what
an audience wants from a relationship. According to award winning, New York Times bestselling
author Virginia Kantra, audiences want relationships to have, "physical attraction, emotional
conflict, and scenes that foster emotional intimacy" (Kantra 1). The relationship that Ross and
Rachel have is a prime example of this all. It is known that Ross has a physical attraction to Rachel
since grade school, but Rachel also sitcoms her attraction to Ross with various flirtatious acts. Even
though Ross and Rachel seem to be the perfect couple, they have had their fair share of emotional
conflict. The well–known "we were on a break" fight causes comical scenes between the two.
Rachel will always make it clear that Ross cheated on her, but Ross claims that they were on a
break. The couple has an on and off relationship throughout the sitcom because of these many
conflicts. When the couple finally gets together at the end of season ten, everything felt complete.

Examples Of Archetypes In An Old Friend
Intro to Lit
Ellie Schwartz
Block 4
Mid–Term
After doing what a young girl at the edge of adulthood does like sneaking around, going to meet
boys rather than doing what she tells her parents, a young rebellious girl, Connie, who has a bad
relationship with her parents, works through the temptations and situations from a creepy guy by the
name of Arnold. Her consciousness of right and wrong outweigh all the temptations. These
decisions and temptations are shown through archetypes in Where Are You Going, Where Have You
Been by Joyce Carol Oates. Oates focuses on biblical symbols, symbolic colors, and her beliefs in
order to create her story and make it have the meaning it does. Arnold Friend is a mysterious, creepy
man who takes over Connie when her parents are away. Arnold's name is connected to "An Old

The light colors usually, most the time represent good things. Dark colors most likely mean evil. In
the story most the colors go from light to dark, so things are good and turn bad. Arnold's car is an
example of bright things having a dark meaning because "His car is painted a bright gold that caught
the sunlight opaquely" so even though it was bright, it had a dark feel to it meaning something bad
(2). His name appears on his car in tar like black letters and both boys, Arnold and Ellie, wear
metallic sunglasses constantly as if they don't like the sunlight and are avoiding it, reflecting and
keeping it out because they are evil. Connie's dress does the same thing. In the beginning she has on
"a bright green blouse" and toward the end the dress darkens because she's sweating(3). This shows
the tone of her being happy hanging with friends, to bad and scared because of what Arnold is doing

In

His grades tend to have mostly A's, he enjoys history and science since they are his strength. He

I don't like to punish him because I know that doesn't help, so instead I like to talk things through
with him and spend as much time as I can. This same research by Prinzie et. al. (2010), states that
it's actually not beneficial to not punish a child at all because they can grow to be very sensitive or
emotional to any punishment by anyone(pg.1317). This might be a reason why Jack was reported by
some teachers to get overwhelmed when something goes wrong in the class. Nevertheless, I insist
on not punishing Jack because he has been a great child. In addition, Jack has been influenced by
my partner and I because of our divorce when he was 6 years old. We knew that even though he was
very little, he would probably not be too affected by it but when he grew older, it was the way in
which we managed it that would affect him. According to Bigner & Gerhardt in Parent–child

Group members were to discuss barriers and limitations in developing new friends.
PO attended group on time and moderately participated in the group discussions. PO completed the
handout, and identified barriers and limitations for developing new healthy friendships. PO stated "I
walk away from friends that are still using or drinking. I have to take care of myself and my
recovery first". PO seemed to understand the negative impact of hanging out with old friends, and
appears to be internally motivated to abstain from all mind–altering substances and complete
treatment.

My Experience : My Personal Experience Of The Middle School
Middle School It was a windy evening, I sat on the bus to the way home. As I got off the bus from
high school, I started to remember the great memories my friends and I created during middle
school. This will take place throughout the 3 years in middle school we spent there.
It's great to get older and experience new things, but I do miss middle school. Nathan Hale, the
school I went to, I experienced a lot of great things over there I made a lot of new relationships with
different type of people, involving my teachers and friends. I miss that I would text my friends for
hours, a lot of the time we would stay up late texting or just goofing off with my friends. One time,
my friend was having a birthday party at Hollywood Park. It was very crowded at Hollywood Park,
because it was a Saturday night, but we eat pizza and cupcakes. There my friend spotted an
"attractive" guy, she was too shy to say "hi". Then my friend that was having the birthday party
decided enough was enough, she walked right up to him. And said, "Hey, so my friend over there
likes you and she's been following you around and she's been wondering if–" The boy interrupted
her, and said "I'm too old for her" and walked off. The boy seemed very flustered. My friend that
was having the birthday party, didn't mean to sound too forward or that she was a stalker, I don't
think she planned what she was going to say, but it wasn't her intention to sound

Descriptive Essay On Aggressive Suicide

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On Aggressive Suicide My Impressive Warning "Don't move", a gun pointed my friend and me at a night that I might not forget. That night, my best girl friend who came from Columbia went through a big change in her life because she suffered from a sexual assault. I finished the SMU questionnaire about sexual problem in few days ago. Actually I had either sad or little delight because assigning a questionnaire to students means that a collage pays high attention to students' sexual problems. However, I felt sad because I recalled my girlfriend's sexual assault again. No matter how old the women is, there is no doubt that she or her family or friends were influenced a lot by sexual assault. Also, I was impacted by my friend's sexual assault so I got warnings and some ideas after that. In order to avoid sexual assault, everyone had better pay attention to her safety and not have prejudices against someone who suffered from sexual assault. I contacted my girlfriend on Instagram two weeks ago. I thought that everything was better about her at that time because I felt she already had a normal life from her photos. However, I burst my tears after my friend told me she tried her best to accept the physical and psychological treatment. Although the sexual assault happened in last year, my girlfriend still faced in her trouble. I remembered that that day was the second day of our winter vocation. The strange phenomenon was that a few messages appeared on my phone about same content "Do you know where Lisa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Friends was a great success and this created a strong relation between the broadcaster and the viewers, which in a certain way pressured the broadcaster to want to continue broadcasting Friends and even offered a superior amount of money than the revenue from advertising. This strong link allowed the production of two new seasons, in which the last one had the highest price in television history for a 30–minute series. Historical, social, cultural, political environment of Friends Historical environment With the early system modifications many sitcoms and telefilms series started to be produced in Hollywood. Friends is one of these examples. Friends portrays the 90s period of the United States in which there were no serious problems. In this comedy we can see the daily life of the characters and there's no focus on the historical environment. Social environment Friends changed sitcoms' rules. Particularly, it changed the narrative environment in a sitcom, changing the main object, the family, to a friends' group. During all series friends have a strong impact in each other's lives, the characters don't live with their families, but with each other, and in some situations the friends become lovers. • 10. Best Friend Story Let me tell you the story of a boy named Blake who moved to a new town called Weston. In his new school, he thought he would never make any friends for the next couple of months, but man was he wrong! Blake was a shy guy today because he was going into a new school and was young for his grade. And furthermore, almost everyone was older than him, except for in his old school in Natick, where he had a friend who was 3 hours older than him, born on the same day, month, year, and surprisingly, the same hospital! But dreadfully, he had to leave his best friend because his parents got a new job. Anyway, let me tell you the story. In the summer, Blake was wondering what his new school would be like. He wondered how fast he would make friends, if the kids there would like him, and he even thought if any girls would think that he was cool! Blake was sort of confident about going to this new school because he had lots of friends in his old school, so he would think the same thing would happen here! He asked his parents what his new school would be like and they said that everything would be fine as long as he is confident the whole way through. But now that they said that, he knew he wouldn't be fine. So instead of being confident, he was feeling bad how he isn't going to make any friends in this new school. When Blake got to school, he walked inside and went to the front office, and asked where he should go because he is new here. The woman at the front office told him to go ... Finding that one person, someone can start to relay on them for countless and bountiful things. Having that one loving person can do many wild justices for you in your life time and having them stay in your life is the most overjoyed feeling. Being able to have them see you express the feelings that you are devotedly feeling; sad, cheerful, angry, and excited means that they won't be making fun of you, when you are feeling these emotions. Having Chandler be a glowing best friend, is something that will never be a misconception. Chandler is a beautiful, tall human being with a skinny build; Chandler has dirty–dish water colored hair with a lush shine to it. He consistently has a magnificent smile on his face with his dazzling blue eyes. This kid is the most independent, respectful and hard–working person ever. Chandler is a special person that has entered a life that is crazy and loving; cherishing every moment with him is the way of growing and sticking together; the amazing way that someone can impact the way the wild lives today with just a touch of their precious heart. • 18. Aristotle's Six Elements Of Drama Essay In the popular sitcom TV series Friends (1994– 2010), has displayed all of Aristotle's six important elements throughout the show that were required for the drama. The main plot of the show is revolving around six best friends living together in Manhattan, and following up with their everyday personal and professional lives. Throughout the show, all six elements of drama are being taken place in the modern series showing that regardless of small changes here and there, there are still connections back to Aristotle's view. Aristotle's first element is Plot which requires to have the whole, complete, and magnitude. In the first episode of season 1: The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate, the storyline starts out with Monica meeting her old high school best friend Rachel. And since Rachel was having some personal life problems, she ends up moving in with Monica and stays as her best friend till the end of the show. The whole of the show is Monica and Rachel's relationship from the beginning till the end has stayed the same. Although eventually Rachel had to move out of Monica's apartment, their friendship still continued on and is considered to be stronger compared to the beginning of their meeting. The complete which is also known as the unity of action was displayed because when the two girls were having problems, both were able to solve and help out each other. They were able to put each other as their main priority and showing each other the attention they need. And the magnitude is absolutely present because although it was quite abrupt with Rachel is moving in with Monica, but as the story went on. Everything was relevant to all the other characters: Chandler, Joey, Ross, and Phoebe. Which show the whole purpose of the show, friends are meant to stay together till the end, even though they all had problems with one another at one certain point, but were still able to move past and have a stronger, inseparable bond throughout the whole sitcom series. The second element is Character and each of the characters have displayed moral goodness, true to life, and had a consistent appearance throughout the show. The coaches were cheering for the football team and the crowd was cheering with the cheerleaders. The Coach yells," Do your best Girls." In cheerleading the people around you will tell you good job and they will help you out. At the Football games people will tell the Cheerleaders and the Football players if we lost that," It is ok to lose there is more games to win". During the practices and the games, I would get down on myself and the coach told me," To never get down on myself and to just keep moving forward and to leave all of the mess up's in the past". There was a lot of people supporting the football team and the Cheerleaders. My parents told me," To never stop what I was doing if I loved it". At the end of the football games the cheerleaders and the coach talked and told us," We did a good job at cheering". Cheerleading was a lot of fun I learned to be a nicer person to people and to help them if they need it. The coach told all of us that," We all work better together than not being together because we were all better together than doing stuff on our own. At the Practices the cheerleaders did a lot of cheering and stunting. The coach told us," To never get down on ourselves and to just do our best". Is there constant communication between friends? How many people remember the lyrics from that Houdini song? "Friends, how many of us have them? Friends, the ones you can depend on." The philosopher Aristotle said, "In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. They keep the young out of mischief; they comfort and aid the old in their weakness, and they incite those in the prime of life to noble deeds." In the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S Rachel Green, Ross Geller, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Phoebe Buffay are all friends, living off of one another in the heart of New York City. Over the course of 8 years, these average group of friends go through massive mayhem, family trouble, romances, fights, laughs, tears and surprises as they learn what it really means to be a friend. Therefore the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S represents friendship as dependable, honest, and disclosure. Being supportive of others in their bad times is a defining quality of a good friend, but being supportive of others in their good times is also essential. Friends show a true depiction of being supportive when Monica and Ross' grandmother passes away, and all the other four friends go to the service to pay their respects. Another example is in the episode "The One with the Fertility Test" Monica and Chandler, who have been trying to have a baby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is about six friends, three men and three women, who live in the same apartment complex in New York and face life together as a family. This wonderful sitcom displays the real meaning of friendship and loyalty. They live their most crazy, funny, and sad moments together. They help guide and support each other through their tough times. Even though, many people, including myself, may consider the sitcom Friends as the funniest show ever, many other people disagree; some people think it is boring, not funny, and very predictable. Her personality is very outgoing, impulsive, spontaneous, and friendly. She also has an unbelievable imagination; she created a doll house out of shoe boxes with a slide, an aroma room, licorice room, and a bubble machine. Also, she has a weird side which she really shows with her songs. One of her famous songs is called "smelly cat." Furthermore, Rachel Green is another character in this great sitcom. She is played by Jennifer Aniston. Rachel is caring, loyal, and dependable. One of the most enjoyable episodes with Rachel is when she sings with Ross, her baby's father, "Baby Got Back" to her baby daughter to make her laugh. Finally, Ross Geller is one of the characters that I most enjoyed in the sitcom. He is introverted, caring, shy, and trustworthy. In one episode, he wanted to show his friends that he knew how to flirt so he was going to flirt with the pizza delivery girl. Instead Ross ended up talking about different smells of gas with her. I also like that Charlie changes through out the book, he becomes happier. The next one is Sam, Sam is a kind and supportive friend but you know that she has a rough past by the way she talks. She is also in a abusive relationship with a man three years older than her. As Charlie has romantic feelings for Sam he sees her as only good. That makes it hard for me to do a character analys on her because it was also some time since I read the book. The last one is Patrick, I think everyone should have a Patrick in their life. Even if Patrick had his problems I could always feel that he was a true friend. Patrick is being bullied but he still stays happy and shots snarky comments to his bullies. Some people have different thoughts, ideas, or notions of the word but we always hear our parents telling us, from a young age, what it is and we grow up wanting and striving for that "independence". Right after that I would mutter and mumble to myself, with anxiousness, ignorance, and sometimes anger, "I can't wait till I'm old enough to get my own place." Garreau brings up possible dangers, minor inconveniences, and what truly defines a friend in the new media world we live in. I felt Garreau came across as jaded by most of the interviews he conducted. He did not seem to speak with a wide array of people that gave positive impacts social media can have, but rather focused on the negatives of the subject. Garreau did bring up valid points, however, from personal safety to the aspect of different people in your life seeing your different personalities. For instance your Grandma that you go to church with on Sunday 's is now seeing the pictures of you partying with your friends on Saturday night. Specifically in "Friends Indeed" Garreau covers views on social media and the impacts it has on relationships, representing all different walks of life from a college student transitioning into the work force to a cattle rancher from Wyoming. Garreau states, "Networked people who haven 't seen each other in forever already know about the new boyfriend, and what happened to the old one–in very great detail" (122). In making this comment, Garreau states that catching up with old friends or family has drastically changed and seems to imply a real world disconnect in our relationships. However I come from a large spread out family and it adds to the experience of seeing them when I do know what has been going on in their lives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She had been in so many movies that came out this year and each performance as graceful as the last. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the event with her because I had an important meeting with my boss to go to earlier in the day and wouldn't be able to get there in time. I got home and made popcorn to go along with the show. Before I got the chance to eat any of it or even turn on the tv a knock was heard from my door. I opened it to see a bunch of my friends with food and drinks and smiles on their faces. I told them not to throw a party at my house but they seem to not listen. As they came barging in, they took up seats and then waiting for me to sit down. It makes me think about if times had changed, and I would have been the one to fall. This haunts me. It all started with the desire to feel the adrenaline rush of urban explorations. The group that was leading my friend and I just ignored them, and kept going up. We stopped at a balcony type area that was connected to the building, but outside. They started climbing on things that were not meant to be climbed, so we left and continued our journey upwards. We finally made it to the roof. It was about ten floors up. My Relationship With An Old Family Friend Reconnecting with an old family friend To fully understand my current relationship with nature, it is important to look back over my life and identify how the relationship came to be, what has hindered and what has sustained this relationship. In order to do this, I have broken my life down into stages from early years, to teenage years, to young adulthood and finally onto more recent times. This paper will examine not just my experiences, but the meanings behind these experiences and how they have come to shape my relationship with the natural world. In the early years of my life, as is probably common to most people, I remember being fascinated by everything around me and trying to learn as much as I could. During my early years I spent so much time out enjoying nature whether it was beaches, parks, rainforests, or just lying on the grass under the big old mango trees in the back yard. I was lucky enough to have a father who was a science teacher and he was able to teach me so much about the world. Through these assumptions based off of compulsory heterosexuality, Friends displays evident heteronormativity. The first example of compulsory heterosexuality occurs in the pilot episode of the series. In the beginning of this episode, Ross, one of the main male characters, is seen complaining about his divorce as the rest of his friends try to comfort him with jokes and sympathy. Eventually, Ross questions the group by asking "What if there's only one woman for everybody, y'know? I mean what if you get one woman– and that's it?" ("The One Where Rachel Gets A Roommate" ... In Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers, heroism is shown vastly among the characters. Heroism is described as great bravery. Perry, Peewee, and Lieutenant showed the most heroism in and off of the field. Richard Perry was a young seventeen–year–old black boy from Harlem. He did not have the money at go attend college so he decided to join the military. Perry played basketball throughout his life which resulted in a knee injury, but that did not stop him. On the way to Vietnam and at the beginning of his time there, Perry did not expect the events that were about to happen. "We spent another day lying around. It seemed to be what the war was about. Hours of boredom, seconds of terror." (Myers 132). Perry and the rest of the men in Vietnam were put into hard positions and had to go through tough things. Perry had his friend, his leader, and was put into the hospital twice. Jenkins was the first to die among Perry's friends. After the death he was hurt, but had to continue of and fight for his country. His lieutenant was the next of his close friends to die. Everyone was devastated about the loss of their lieutenant. The war had barely began, everyone had to still fight their hardest and not leave their guard down for anything. Many questions and prayers were spoken throughout the time in Vietnam. In society, people tend to forget that there are those who have different living conditions compared to themselves. They do not try to understand what others are going through or what can cause them to engage in their actions. In "Bumping into Mr. Ravioli", written by Adam Gopnik, the author writes a story about his daughter, Olivia, creating an imaginary friend that is too busy to play with her. Gopnik assumes that her imaginary friend is a sign of trauma or a sign of loneliness. At first, he does not take into account of Olivia's environment or how she sees the world. Outside influences, cultures, values, and personal beliefs may change a person's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the story, Gopnik decides that Ravioli is an astounding influence on Olivia and that he was wrong about New York. At first, he thought New York was the problem because it is known to be a busy state. He declares in the beginning that being busy is horrible and that it took a toll on his daughter. Although, towards the end of the story, Gopnik changes his mind about busyness and Ravioli altogether. He sees Ravioli with a new set of eyes and now he understands that even though Ravioli is busy all the time, he is actually helping Olivia by doing so. Ravioli is allowing Olivia to become independent, to see the outside of New York in her imagination. Gopnik expands his mind and realizes that New York is not the perfect place he once thought. He learns about how dependent everyone is with their communication devices. Adults go to work with their devices and come back home with e–mails, fax machines and telephones. He believes that communication devices do not allow one to finish a conversation and become satisfied with it. Also, New Yorkers are building up walls within themselves and use technology to avoid their friends. Gopnik saw this as a negative about New York but, he did not notice these negatives until he looked at New York in a new manner. In order to become a successful human being, one has to open up their hearts and see what others see. Outside opinions have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joey was only 12 years old. It wasn't his time to go. He didn't get to say his last goodbye. Sometimes I wonder why him. Why was he chosen to die? The only option is to believe he's in a better place, and looking down on us. While we are down here living our life, he'll be up there living his new one. It was July 24, 2015. I'm getting ready to leave to go to the fair to feed my rabbits. I ran out to the garage to get all the things we need, then ran back inside to grab some other things. By the time I was to the end I was about to cry. I don't know how I managed to do this, but I pushed through it and still went to the fair. On the way there Joey is all I could think about. I had so many questions running through my mind. I thought it would be good to go to the fair and not think about what happened. But that was almost impossible. Once I got to the fair I went around to find my one friend. Once I found her I didn't say anything about what happened. Every couple minutes I kept going on my phone and checking for updates, but I never saw anything. After a while of going on rides my friend had to go. So I found my other two friends (Natalie and Keverlyn). Since they didn't like going on rides, we played games most of the time. We decided to go watch the pig auction at around 5:30. We watched it until around 6:00 o'clock pm. At that time I was still checking my phone for anything new. All I saw was more and more comments each time. • 119. The Television Sitcom Friends By Virginia Kantra The television sitcom Friends has the six main characters involved in many relationships throughout each season. Since season one, Ross and Rachel have been referred to as the power couple, the glue that holds everyone together, and according to television critics as CBS they are, "probably the most iconic TV couple in recent memory" ("The Best TV" 3). This being said, the couple was a known favorite and attracted many people to the sitcom. This relationship is the favorite because it has what an audience wants from a relationship. According to award winning, New York Times bestselling author Virginia Kantra, audiences want relationships to have, "physical attraction, emotional conflict, and scenes that foster emotional intimacy" (Kantra 1). The relationship that Ross and Rachel have is a prime example of this all. It is known that Ross has a physical attraction to Rachel since grade school, but Rachel also sitcoms her attraction to Ross with various flirtatious acts. Even though Ross and Rachel seem to be the perfect couple, they have had their fair share of emotional conflict. The well–known "we were on a break" fight causes comical scenes between the two. Rachel will always make it clear that Ross cheated on her, but Ross claims that they were on a break. The couple has an on and off relationship throughout the sitcom because of these many conflicts. When the couple finally gets together at the end of season ten, everything felt complete. As many Friends fans know, Phoebe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Growing up Lindsay was considered a good girl and now she wants to join a different social order, the burnouts. She struggles to balance the old good girl while trying to form a new friendships with the burnouts. At first the transfer from being a mathlete and friends with Millie to being friends with kids who are known for skipping class is a little shaky. In a lot of ways I can compare to Lindsay especially getting a new friend group. All my life my neighbor and I have been best friends; around freshman year he started to hang more and more with this new group of kids, our school's infamous burnouts. I found myself at a crossroad. I could either hang out with this new group of kids or the friend group I grew up with since elementary school. I ended up with the "burnouts" just as Lindsay made the transition from so called nerds to the rebel students. Just like my situation, first the transition was awkward and I struggled to balance both sides but also had to also maintain my grades. Having friends who are constantly wanting to skip and still being able to keep the A in Biology was a hard tribulation. Yes, Lindsay and I are a like in many ways when it comes to our new choice in friends, but unlike Lindsay I did not forsake my past. Examples Of Archetypes In An Old Friend Intro to Lit Ellie Schwartz Block 4 Mid–Term After doing what a young girl at the edge of adulthood does like sneaking around, going to meet boys rather than doing what she tells her parents, a young rebellious girl, Connie, who has a bad relationship with her parents, works through the temptations and situations from a creepy guy by the name of Arnold. Her consciousness of right and wrong outweigh all the temptations. These decisions and temptations are shown through archetypes in Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been by Joyce Carol Oates. Oates focuses on biblical symbols, symbolic colors, and her beliefs in order to create her story and make it have the meaning it does. Arnold Friend is a mysterious, creepy man who takes over Connie when her parents are away. Arnold's name is connected to "An Old Friend" if you take out the r on Arnold. Friend is misinterpreted though when the description of him states he is "a boy with shaggy, black hair, in a convertible jalopy painted gold"(1). Oates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The light colors usually, most the time represent good things. Dark colors most likely mean evil. In the story most the colors go from light to dark, so things are good and turn bad. Arnold's car is an example of bright things having a dark meaning because "His car is painted a bright gold that caught the sunlight opaquely" so even though it was bright, it had a dark feel to it meaning something bad (2). His name appears on his car in tar like black letters and both boys, Arnold and Ellie, wear metallic sunglasses constantly as if they don't like the sunlight and are avoiding it, reflecting and keeping it out because they are evil. Connie's dress does the same thing. In the beginning she has on "a bright green blouse" and toward the end the dress darkens because she's sweating(3). Each of the characters in the sitcom have a funny personality of their own. One of the characters is Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he was nine years old, his parents announced that they were getting a divorce while eating Thanksgiving dinner and also his father was having an affair with the houseboy. As a result, he refuses to celebrate Thanksgiving traditionally and eat Thanksgiving dinner. Another character is Phoebe Buffay. She is played by Lisa Kudrow. He is shy to make friends so he has a few, and gets incredibly good grades in school. His grades tend to have mostly A's, he enjoys history and science since they are his strength. He always has to be doing something so he loves to be involved in school. For example, he likes to do art design, play in the school orchestra as a violinist, play baseball and likes to build things at home that I help him with. I don't like to punish him because I know that doesn't help, so instead I like to talk things through with him and spend as much time as I can. This same research by Prinzie et. al. (2010), states that it's actually not beneficial to not punish a child at all because they can grow to be very sensitive or emotional to any punishment by anyone(pg.1317). This might be a reason why Jack was reported by some teachers to get overwhelmed when something goes wrong in the class. Nevertheless, I insist on not punishing Jack because he has been a great child. In addition, Jack has been influenced by my partner and I because of our divorce when he was 6 years old. We knew that even though he was very little, he would probably not be too affected by it but when he grew older, it was the way in which we managed it that would affect him. According to Bigner & Gerhardt in Parent–child relations, an introduction to parenting, they state that in the family systems theory what happens to one, happens to the other. There is a series of steps in how a divorce unfolds in the family system but the last one, family redefinition is what the child can have difficulty transitioning to, since they will have to become a part of a binuclear family (2014, pg.252–253).
