Macbeth Fate Analysis
Why? What prompted this heinous act? What knowledge did these men obtain that condemns my
dear family to this execrable fate? A week past saw my blade unsheathed. Here I lie, cold, wet and
helplessly betrayed on my death bed. Do I deserve such a detestable death? Perhaps I do? No, I
know that I lived an honourable and just life. My principles in life were built upon moralities
synonymous with that of loyalty, honour, honesty; especially for those I hold close. I battled against
the dreams of those prophecies and proved myself worthy of what was told. I defended my character
and was sincere to what I stood for. Never did I succumb or weaken in the wait of temptation. Since
the day on the heath when those foul witches' prophesised the doomed fates of Macbeth and myself,
Macbeth's unpretentious character has ominously changed, as if ... Show more content on

Furthermore onto Thane of Cawdor, this named shortly after the predictions, doing nothing to
intentionally attain the title but demonstrate his own character, a strong, passionate and loyal
countryman. This was the Macbeth regarded as a man with pride, with honour! However, the final
prophecy was the one that changed Macbeth, a title that toyed with his ambition. Being told he
would become King I believe was the beginning of his timely demise. Over time his aspirations
steered him to take a path the true Macbeth would have certainly ignored. He was tempted by those
strange creatures to descend onto this path of commotion and turmoil. His courageous ways were
overcome by his ambition, lost, as he was not strong enough to combat his devious emotions. He
began to become isolated; acting suspiciously, plotting wicked schemes with Lady Macbeth. He was
given an opportunity to take the position of King and he took it, viciously, deprived of restraint. I lay
here in rebuke to Macbeth and his ghastly ways, choosing a path in which ambition need not lead to

The First Humans Were Hunter Gatherers
The first humans were hunter–gatherers. The men hunted and the women organized the farming and
gathering in an egalitarian social model of equality for all men and women. Approximately 12,000
years ago agriculture replaced the traditional hunter–gatherer routines for a more permanent and
consistent lifestyle centered on agriculture. As a result class or rank based societies were formed.
The dominant government and society in European was the feudal system where land was granted
for service. After a thousand years the feudal system was replaced by capitalism an economic and
political system. Over time the industrial revolution transformed capitalist nations from agriculture
to industrial nations. Throughout history countries have wanted to control lands beyond their
borders and a new practice named colonialism give Europeans full or partial political power over
countries they occupied, or settled in the "Age of exploration." The feudal system is often referred to
as Europe Dark Ages or Middle Ages. During the feudal system small communities were formed
near the lord and the manor. The king, the church, barons, and lords owned land. The kings in feudal
times "Believed God gave them the "divine right" to rule"(Stutz & Warf 29). The king granted or
rented the land to the baron for soldiers or taxes or shield money. The baron ruled a large area of
land called fiefs that was divided among lords who were in charged of the land and served in the
army. Lords and Barons swore

Similarities Between Samurai And Knights
In about 1000 to 1600 CE in history two warriors were made with a different name and in two
different countries. "More than a thousand years ago, a class of professional warriors arose, who
swore oaths of loyalty to noble lords and fought to the death to defend them in battle" (Overview).
The two warriors were samurai and knights. Samurais were fighting for Japan in the class of
military retainers of the daiyomes while across the seas the knights were fighting on horseback in
Europe. To keep order in the land both regions developed a system that historians called
federalism. There were more differences than similarities and here are some reasons why the
differences were greater than the similarities.
The first reason why the differences are greater than the similarities is because of the social order in
feudal Japan and Europe. "Historians and other scholars use social pyramids to show how societies
were structured" (Document A). The samurai owned loyalty and military service to daimyo 's for
land or regular payment while on the other hand knights owned loyalty and military service to the
lords. Another difference about samurais and knights was the population. Samurai with families
took about 10% of Japan 's population and in Europe, there was estimated 12,000 knights in
England and Normany France in the 12th century. One more difference is that there are four people
above the knight in the social order but only three for samurai.
The second reason why the differences

Manorialism: Feudalism During The Middle Ages
Manorialism was the economic element of feudalism during the Middle Ages and a manor was a
lord's piece of land or estate where they employed serfs to maintain and cultivate the land. In
exchange, he gave the serfs protection and housing as long as the serfs fulfil their labor obligations
and pay taxes. This arrangement allowed the landless serfs and peasants to have safe and permanent
housing while also benefiting the lord with labor and other economic services. Manors varied in
their sizes and many lords had more than one manor. The lord's manor included the manor house,
church, cottages where the peasants lived, mill, woodland, the pasture and the lord's demesne which
was the farmland. The peasants would grind the grain for the manor in the mill and a ... Show more

Some crops they cultivated were wheat, vegetables, rye, oats and barley. Some products were traded
outside which included millstones, salt and iron. Within the manor, there was a manorial court
which regulated the property and services such as the number of pigs that can be pastured per
household. The courts also cleared up disputes around inheritance and property. Peasants were
required to pay taxes on grain and marriage and they paid a church tax or a tithe which was one–
tenth of their income. Some baked bread as a way to avoid taxes, however, this was illegal and
treated as a serious crime. A marriage had to be approved by the lord and a unfree peasant could not
marry a free peasant. Peasants seldom left the estate and travel more than 25 miles away. Even
though serfs were restricted and had few rights, they were not slaves due to the inability of the lords
to sell or buy them. The peasants' living conditions were harsh and crowded. Between 15 to 30
families lived in small two room cottages close to each other in the village within the

Internal Identity Conflicts In Lord Furnival, By Nathaniel...
Crispin's identity is something that he struggles with throughout the book. At the beginning of the
book, his name is Asta's son since he lives with his mother and never knew his father. He grew up
with no personal name and little dignity because he and his mother were so poor. Later, he becomes
the servant of Bear and finds out he is the son of Lord Furnival, the Lord of his small village and
various others throughout England. Simply because of the fact he is Lord Furnival's son, he is
sought to be silenced and killed. At the end of the book, he chooses to become what he wants to
really be, a free man who decides where his own path will take him. Crispin realizes that he
ultimately decides who he will serve while doing what action. The social restrictions that previously
bind him are cut off and he begins his new life. The picture with the question mark in the man's head
represents the internal identity conflict.
When John Aycliffe, the steward from Crispin's village, declares Crispin a wolf's head, it becomes
legal for anyone to kill Crispin. Whoever spots him, may kill him and reap a monetary award.
Crispin does not realize until the end of the book why he is to be killed. Much conflict of the book
stems from the escaping and dodging of men searching for Crispin. He always has the fear that he
will be spotted in one of the towns while he and Bear are performing. His fears become true when
he is spotted in Great Wexley. The picture used to represent this key event in the

Superhero Or Supervillian Analysis
In the world today there is a great variety of morals. People act out of personal morals depending on
the amount of leeway given. In the article "Superhero or Supervillian" by Will Oremus, the author
speaks on superpowers and how they may be affecting peoples character. Throughout this essay the
reader will read a synopsis of "Superhero or Supervillian", synthesized ideas, and connections to
Christian worldview. Throughout Oremus's article a statement is made in paragraph seven stating "It
would be nice to think that morality emanates from the sheer goodness of people's souls, but
research has consistently shown that people behave far better when they think they're being
watched." Each person has their own personal virtues. What someone ... Show more content on

1. Gather a shoe box and paint it completely black all over the box.
2. Wrap the flip of the shoe box with aluminium foil so the sun can reflect the sun rise into the base
of the shoe box.
3. Gather another box to place inside the base of the bigger box.
4. Put your two thermometers in the smaller box and check the room temperature on a regular basis
so you can compare the difference between your solar oven and outside temperature.
5. Cover the smaller box with cling wrap to absorb the heat within the box.
6. In the base of the box once the smaller box is in fill the rest of the space with crunched up
newspaper so more heat will be absorbed to keep a high temperature.
7. Once your solar oven is fully complete you will be able to start your experiment. The aim is to see
if your oven gets to rapid temperatures so you need to check your temperatures on a regular basis.
You will need to check at least every hour to see if your oven is a success!

My mother, Mrs. Naomi Jackson Rhodman a Christian, wife, mother, and social activist. When I
think about my momma, some of her favorite things come to mind, her favorite color, blue, her
favorite food, vegetables, and favorite dessert, cake. Mahalia Jackson, her favorite Gospel singer
and favorite gospel songs: "Oh How I Love Jesus" and "Precious Lord". My momma, oh boy, could
she SING! Singing "Precious Lord" would bring tears to my eyes. My mother's voice had great
versatility, momma could sing soprano, tenor, and alto most singers can only sing in one voice.
Whatever the melody needed, she could sing it, the music of the choir was sweeter because momma
was singing. The extra time in her schedule went to the church, serving as the church treasurer and
as a member of the Board of Trustees. Momma and daddy (George Rhodman) were very active in
our church, Standfield, and our community. Love of the Lord, family, and all people, my parents
exemplified that unconditional love. In fact, momma designed our church edifice and daddy built it
with their own resources. Serving the church with dedication, professionalism, and their service
blessed all. Health challenges curtailed my parent's participation in church events, but their faithful
service for all those years continues to bless us. The success that I have realized in my life and the
ministry can be tied to my parent's dedication and faithfulness. Through forty years of marriage,

Peasants And Serfs
Peasants were members of the lowest class, those who work. They were the most common class.
They were the millers, blacksmiths, butchers, carpenters, farmers, and other trades people. Peasant
women in particular, spent much of their time taking care of children, making clothes, and cooking
meals. They also tended gardens, took care of animals by tending chicken, shearing sheep, and
milking cows (Cels 16). Within peasants, there were two main groups of people, the serfs and the
freemen. Both were employed by the lords. And serfs were people that paid more fees, and had less
rights. Freemen on the other hand paid less fees and had more rights than serfs (Noiret). While
freemen could leave the manor when at whim, serfs were not allowed to leave ... Show more content

practice of it mostly disappeared with the Middle Ages, it is still an imprinted government in

Vows: A Narrative Fiction
The days were definitely getting colder and shorter. Catelyn drew her cloak more tightly around her
as she walked from the Great Hall back to the Keep after breaking her fast. She was to meet with
Robb and Willas Tyrell in Ned's solar this morning to discuss the letter which had arrived from
King's Landing bearing the royal seal.
She had known it was coming, of course, but reading those imperious words which could barely be
called even courteous and made no pretense of being anything other than commands dictated by the
woman now styling herself Queen Regent had made Catelyn's blood boil. The woman had actually
put a time limitation on her demands, explicitly stating she expected to see the party from Winterfell
in King's Landing within two moons.
No response had as yet arrived to the letter she'd Ned, but scarcely enough time had passed for a
raven to fly to the Wall and back again, even if the weather remained fair throughout its journey.
Tyrell had sent a vaguely worded response to his brother's letter hinting that Lord Redwyne's fleet
might be needed somewhere other than Dragonstone, but of course King's Landing was even further
from Winterfell than the Wall was so they had no reply from Ser Garlan as of yet. Tyrell had actually
given his letter to Robb to read before having Maester Luwin send it, a gesture which caused Robb
to look upon him more favorably.
Tyrell was still in the Great Hall, breaking his fast with Sansa. In spite of the tremendous strains of

Peasants
Manorialism was a part of feudalism and supported it. Peasants were very important on the manor.
Peasants lived on and farmed the manor's land. In return for the work, lords would protect the
peasants and gave them a share of land to grow their crops (Cels 4). Peasants that did not own any
land would be hired by lords or peasants who were in better condition than them to work for them
on the land (Cels 8). Peasants had to work almost for the whole day growing food and making other
things for their family and to give to the lords (Cels 4). Peasants would work for three days a weeks
for the lord and they had to work for extra time during harvest time (King and Epperly 34). They

While she was a child, she would learn how to act properly as a lady. Her father would usually be
knight and her family would be noble (Butterfield 9). Her husband's family were friends with her
father because her father's land was in the neighboring area (Butterfield 9). She was taught from a
young age about how she should behave (Butterfield 9). When she was born, she was forced and
expected to be a lady and had no choice in any other lifestyle (Butterfield 9). When she got to the
proper age for marriage her new life as a lady would start. The wife of a knight (nobility) was called
a lady (Butterfield 9). The lady would be the most noble in her husband's manor, the lady of the
manor (Butterfield 9). Her husband had a higher ranking than her and had more rights than she did.
St. Augustine, a famous philosopher of the Christian church wrote "The husband should give orders
to the wife, parents to the children and masters should give orders to servants" (Howarth 25). Her
husband also owned everything on the estate. The law stated that everything that she owned
belonged to him and she was ranked second after husband on the estate (Butterfield 9). The lady and
her husband have their own servants to dress them, look after their clothes and their well being

was a way to increase wealth or prestige of each family. It was not for love between two people
(Howarth 25). At seven years old, she would know who her husband was going to be (Butterfield 9)
and soon enough she would be married off to a husband of a much older age (Howarth 25). Her
husband was chosen from a suitable background (Howarth 25) and the lady would have married the
knight at around 13 years old and would have left her family's estate or manor for her husband's
manor which was not far from her old home (Butterfield

Lord Kelvin 's Discovery Of The Kelvin Scale
William Thomson, seems like an ordinary man living in the 19th century, but what if I said, Lord
Kelvin...would that spark any knowledge? Lord Kelvin, otherwise known as William Thomson, is
well known for his discovery of the Kelvin scale. Without multiple inventions and discoveries made
by William Thomson, the science world would be lacking much insight of thermodynamics,
navigation at sea, and communication across the Atlantic. Although not an Einstein, Thomson's
contributions to the science world have allowed scientists and our physics class to learn about
absolute zero and how to make calculations using the Kelvin scale. Without knowledge of these
things, I know the world of science would not be the same.

In 1841, Thomason's paper, Fourier 's expansions of functions in trigonometrically series, was
published defending Fourier's mathematics and in 1842, his third paper was published, On the

college years, he began to notice and look extra carefully into electricity, magnetism, and heat. The
professors at Cambridge taught and interested William of modern experiments that were being done
involving these following topics. With more interest in electricity, magnetism and heat, Thomson
wanted to find out how all of these things related and how they interacted with one another.
After graduation from Cambridge, he worked in a Paris laboratory with the physics professor, Victor
Regnault. Working with Regnault allowed him to gain experimental competence to help him further
his education about science. After working in the lab, an open position arose at the University of
Glasgow in 1846 and William's father made a careful and well–thought out campaign to allow his
son to get the position. At the age of 22, William was named to the position and accepted the job.
Thomson, for most of his life, remained in this position and resigned his university chair in 1899
when he was 75 years old. One of his colleagues, Professor J. D. Cormack, wrote this explaining

Jefferson Davis : The Civil War
The date was June 28th, 1861. On this day, Jefferson Davis Tant was born to William and Mattie
Tant of Paulding County, Georgia (Tant 16–17). His namesake was derived from the Confederate
president who had presided over one of America's bloodiest conflicts: the Civil War (17). Merely
two months and sixteen days before, this war had officially begun. Shortly thereafter, Tant's father,
William, heeded the call of the Confederacy and left his family behind to fight against the Union
armies (17–18). Three years later, the war had reached Tant's home in northern Georgia. The
homestead that he had labored to establish there was destroyed five days before the Battle of New
Hope Church occurred, leaving his wife and three young sons to fend for themselves amid a hostile
environment (12–15). This was J.D. Tant's first taste of what the world offered. The years following
the War, his parents did what they could to provide for their children. When William Tant returned
home, he attempted to retrieve the deeds to some of his property, but it was promptly stolen by a
man named Babe Forsythe (20). William proceeded to move his family to South Georgia where he
tried his hand at farming, trading, carpentry, and various other odd jobs, but none of these
occupations yielded any sustainable income (21). By 1876, however, William Tant had set his sights
on a new horizon: Texas. In the fall of that same year, the family packed up the few belongings they
possessed and made the journey westward

II. Methods:
The materials that were used to complete this lab was an instruction packet, probe thermometer, IR

III. Results:
For this lab my classmates and I all had to go to different locations to collect the data that was
needed. Some of us were out in the sun, others were in the shade so we all got different answers on
our sheet. For my location I was out in front of the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences
(CELS). At that location we looked at three sub location for our data, there were the grass, mulch,
and rocks. The sites had many characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the
location had direct sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing
at CELS but it felt like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had a very diverse
landscape. We also gave characteristics for the three sub locations that we observed. For number one
we looked at the grass and it was yellow with wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black,
brown, and dry. Number three was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. The
characteristics of the three sub locations affected out data in many different ways.
For my three locations the surface temperature was greater than the air temperature. I would expect
that because the surface is absorbing

Charles 's Law Of Temperature And Volume
Charles 's Law of temperature and volume helped discover the concept of absolute zero. Charles
discovered that when a fixed amount of gas is cooled at constant pressure, the volume of the gas
decreases. When looking at a graphical representation of Charles's Law the temperature in which the
volume is said to be zero is –273.15 degrees Celsius, in which it is now referred to as absolute zero.
Charles's Law describes that temperature and volume are directly proportional. Therefore, when
temperature increases, volume increases and the same for the opposite, when the temperature
decreases, the volume decreases as well. The mathematical way to display Charles's Law is where
the V represents the volume of the gas, the T represents the temperature of the gas , and b represents
the pressure of the gas.
The graphical representation of Charles's law is shown as a graph where the x–axis is the
temperature in degrees Celsius and the y–axis represents the volume of gas in milliliters. The
relationship between temperature and volume creates a positive slope in the graph itself, in which it
demonstrates that when the temperature increases the volume of gas increases as well.
As the graph continues to represent the relationship of volume and temperature of the gas, when the
temperature decreases to a point where the temperature is zero degrees Celsius, the volume is not
zero. As the gas is cooled beyond zero degrees Celsius, as it is shown by the graphical
representation in the

Canterbury Tales Literary Analysis
Throughout the semester in class, we read a lot of short stories, and poems. One of the stories that
stuck out to me the most to me, is The Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer. This tale is
based on the millers, which is the topic of my paper. When it comes to the millers, there is a lot to
know such as who they are, what they do, how the mills worked, their role in the Feudal system,
how they make a living, what they ate, where they lived, what kind of clothing they wore, how the
millers are able to assure they can continue to make enough money to live on, and so much more. To
start with, a miller is someone who worked in a mill, especially a grain mill ("Medieval Miller"). A
miller would work on a lord's estate and rented the mill from a lord for periods of a year at a time. A
miller lived above their mills or in cottages very close to their mills, so they could wake up and go
straight to work. Millers wore Roman style tunics made of wool and they wore leather shoes.
Sometimes the millers also wore a leather apron and cap, that was on rare occasion. Millers had a
special food diet, in which they ate similar to a serf, eating pottage, soup, bread, ale and sometimes
pork. miller's had better bread because they had better access to better grains. Unfortunately, millers
did not get paid that well as they only got one–twelfth or one–sixteenth of grains that they grew and
ground up. Some millers stole their pay before they got paid so they received double the pay.

Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The poem demonstrates
how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he pleases, and
because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This brings into light the difference
between higher and lower class people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not
believe her and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations. According to the maiden, Kate's love
was not real. 'O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was writ in sand'.
This tells us that Kate's love was going to disappear and was only a temporary emotion which was
later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the maiden's love was real. The maiden may
just be saying this for revenge against Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel better but we do not
know. The Lord's love towards the maiden was not real, 'His plaything and his love'. 'Plaything' and
'love' are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her for a while or was it all
just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her then left her for Kate.
The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used this, his power
and his wealth against the maiden.
The Lord casts off the female once he meets Kate, who is 'fairer' than the narrator. This shows that
males do not always get emotionally involved in

Sodomy In Seventeenth-Century England
In seventeenth–century England, the crime of sodomy was considered to be a heinous sin. In a time
when religion governed law, homosexuality was not tolerated. The case against Lord Audley, Earl of
Castlehaven, represents the treatment of those convicted in engaging in sexual behavior with men.
Not only was sodomy frowned upon because it went against God's laws, but it was also considered a
crime against honor. Lord Audley's trial shows that a crime of deviance is worse than a crime
against another human being in seventeenth–century England.
"The Tryal and Condemnation of Mervin, Lord Audley Earl of Castle–Haven At Westminster, April
the 5th 1631" and "The Arraignment and Conviction of Mervin Lord Audley, Earle of Castlehaven"

"The charge of prevaricating with his religion obviously weighed heavily against Castlehaven" as it
received the blame for his sinful ways. The Lord High–Steward stated that if there were false
accusations made, "God will put it into'th Hearts of these Noble Lords to find it out" but their hearts
had been tainted with the fear of sodomy. Homosexuality was not recognized but was attributed to
deviant behavior. This deviance was feared so much that those who committed it would be
sentenced to death. It is referred to as something "so abominable and vile a nature" and "a Crime not
to be named among Christians" . In Cynthia Herrup's article "The Patriarch at Home: The Trial of
the 2nd Earl of Castlehaven for Rape and Sodomy", she updates Bingham's analysis of the trial and
brings it into the modern world. She writes that "he was convicted of these crimes in defiance of the
power delineations of early modern society" Herrup supports Bingham's theory that she "understood
the trial to be primarily about the fear of sodomy" rather than the crimes themselves. The fact that he
encouraged the raping of his wife and daughter are surpassed as the crime of sodomy comes to light.
Whether the crime was punishable by death because it was a crime against God's commands or
because of society's fear is questioned in the trial. However, the evidence points to the latter. He
allowed his wife to

Investigating The Effect Of Ligand On The TFT Properties...
To investigate the effect of ligand on the TFT properties, we focused on the In2O3 NCs films cured
at 150 °C. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were conserved on the NCs surface in the TFT
devices at a curing temperature of 150 °C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss at 150 °C
(Figure. 4). Moreover, the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 °C also supported the
existence of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the alkyl group Csp3–H
and carboxylate group COO– (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The µ increased after the ligand
exchange process because of the decrease ligand length from OA (1.97 nm) to BET (0.48 nm). In
the In2O3 NCs films cured at 150 °C, the NCs are separated by insulating ligand OA ... Show more

Table 1. TFT characteristics of the In2O3–OA NCs and In2O3–BET NCs thin films annealed at
different temperatures.
The µ of In2O3–OA NC and In2O3–BET NC thin films increased by 2–4 orders of magnitude with
increasing annealing temperatures from 150 °C to 350 °C, at which the OA or BET ligands
decomposed as discussed in the TGA (Figure 4) and FTIR results (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Specially,
the highest mobility obtained in this study are 4.1 cm2V–1s–1 for the In2O3–BET NC TFT
annealed at 350 °C. This can be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands OA or
BET on the NC surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with increasing
annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the crystalline domain
sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the supplementary information). The
crystalline domain sizes were not significantly affected by the annealing temperature, indicating that
the In2O3 NC thin films still consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15].
Temperature dependence of In2O3 NC TFT devices To know the charge transport mechanism, the
relationship between the mobility and temperature was investigated. The temperature dependence of
the mobility takes the general form

The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times
The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good military, this system
was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval time period, they were the ones, along
with the freemen, who did the hard work in the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for
the whole manor, the lord, and the king. Feudalism was a type of government, it was created not for
fairness, but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore, there
needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done. Feudalism brought many
things to everyone in this time period, some people got more freedom than others, some worked
harder than others, everyone had a role, they may be treated differently for the role, but they all
matter.
Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time period. In the
beginning of the 1100's, serfs were used for farming and they were able to farm more land, because
there was an increase in improved farming tools (Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs,
participated in farming, the other 10% would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt

The feudal system would simply not survive off of the work from the freemen, there needed to be
serfs, people to be bound to the land, to work for simple pay, to provide for the manor. The feudal

fairness. Serfs were the lowest class in the feudal system, they were bound to the land, and couldn't

Saint Margaret Mary And The Sacred Heart Of Jesus Summary
Discover the history and the origin of the First Friday devotion and Sacred Heart of Jesus in Saint
Margaret Mary and the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Mary Fabyan Windeatt. Saint
Margaret Mary and the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus tells the astounding story of a french
nun, from her painful and ailing childhood to her glorious visions of Jesus as a humble and healthy
nun. During Margaret's lifetime , she grows in the virtues of obedience, loyalty, and piety.
Throughout Margaret's Lifetime she develops the virtue of Obedience, by her words and actions .
One morning, Margaret was planning to gather some wild flowers for Our lady's shrine but Aunt
Benedicta forbade her to leave the house without permission and put her to work. Even though
Margaret was very disappointed that she couldn't go pick flowers for Our Blessed Mother, Margaret
obediently answered "I....I'll be glad to help" and though still very weak, Margaret obeyed, and did
the list of things her aunt told her to do. During Margarets time in the convent, the Lord had asked
her to make a very big sacrifice, and that was to eat cheese. Margaret absolutely despised cheese, "It
would be a thousand times easier to die than to eat cheese" thought Margaret. She had tried to eat

Answer 1.
As described in the question store summarized this data into single score by multiplying the number
of responses by number assigned. With this procedure, they got mean value of 3.19. Which lies
between the 3–unsure and 4–agree.
With which store manager will conclude that response is mild agreement or small unsure.
This is not correct interpretation of data. As this argument relies on assumption that psychological
distance between agreement and strong agreement is same as in agreement and unsure. Which is not
correct as the responses can also be distorted on psychological attitudes. To put it in simple terms
Ordinal data cannot possess a mean value.

a). Gender Requires one of two responses – male or female
From this question, we will get Nominal data. Because it has two possible values male or female.
We can count no. of males and females but both doesn't have their actual values neither we can
compare them to each other i.e. we can't say that male has higher value than female. But we can say
no. of males are less than or greater than no. of females.
b. Fahrenheit thermometers
Collects values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit
Collected values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit(F) is an Interval Data. As in the terms of
temperature there is fixed interval. As difference between 1F and 3F is same as in 22F and 24F.
However, we cannot say that 5F is half than 10F because there is no absolute zero in temperature.
Temperature can increase to infinity as well as decrease to infinity in Fahrenheit.
c. Kelvin thermometers Collects values representing temperatures in Kelvin
Collected values representing temperature in kelvin(k) is a Ratio Data. Because in terms of kelvin
temperature there is fixed intervals and as well as absolute zero. As there is absolute zero in kelvin
temperature we can say that 5 degrees is half hot as compared to 10 degrees.
d. The number of items a customer buys
In whole numbers
It is also a ratio Data because there can be a customer buying no item. So, there can be an absolute
zero. Moreover, we can also say that 5 items are half of 10

Analysis Of The Book ' The Bible '
One of my favorite stories in the bible is about Paul and Silas and how they were able to overcome.
They had a mind to be triumphant. In a dark, dismal, and hopeless situation, Paul and Silas began to
sing. I'm sure that they weren't singing any of the classic or mainstream R&B, Country or Pop
songs. Don't get me wrong, those songs are nice. But when you are going through, you need to sing
something that is going to strengthen your faith. You need to pull out that good ol Thomas Dorsey,
"Like a ship that's tossed and driven, battered by an angry sea; when the storms of life are raging,
and their fury falls on me. I wonder what I have done, that makes this race so hard to run; then I say
to my soul, take courage, the Lord will make a way somehow!" In other words, though I've been
beaten, hurt and taken advantage of, I know that the Lord will make a way somehow. Though the
pain in my body becomes unbearable, I know that He will make a way somehow. Like a ship, I've
been tossed and driven, battered by the angry sea of life, yet, I will encourage my soul for the Lord
will make a way somehow. Every now and then, you've got to learn to encourage yourself. You've
got to learn to speak over your life abundance, blessings, and favor.
As long as the Lord allows you and I to live, we will be confronted with drama, confusion, trials and
misfortune. And the only way to deal with the mess is to realize that you are blessed and not to
stress. Paul and Silas were victimized,

The word that Paul uses forward Rejoice comes from the word Chairo in the Greek which means to
rejoice as in being cheerful. Paul is telling us that you to rejoice always despite your circumstances.
We are to rejoice in the good times. It seems easy to do, as many of us is taking tests before and

you get your grade back and it is passing with flying colors. How many of you in that situation

Lord Kelvin Contributions
William Thomson also known as Lord Kelvin, is a chemist that is famous for Devising the absolute
temperature scale, now called the Kelvin scale. He also formulated the second law of
thermodynamics. Thomson was given a good education at home by his own father. Thomson was
the second child out of four children. Also, his mother passed away when he was at the age of six.
Thomson suffered from heart problems at the age of 9 and even came close to death. Thomson's
biggest contribution to his area of expertise was the kelvin scale and the second law of
thermodynamics. Thomson knew that it would be easier to define extremely low temperatures
precisely. Therefore, Thomson made the Kelvin scale where he noted that molecules stop moving at
absolute zero and made and absolute temperature scale which is the kelvin scale where absolute zero
is 0 Kelvin. Thomson had a major role in making the second law of thermodynamics. The law states
that heat will not flow from a colder body to a hotter body. It was actually first formulated to explain
how a steam engine works. In conclusion, William Thomson, also, known as Lord Kelvin was a
famous chemist who had an extraordinary career that had a great impact on chemistry.
Anytime you use your five senses such as seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasteing involves
chemicals and chemistry. They all involve chemical reactions and interactions in a person's body.

Temperature Increase In The Rainforest Ecosystem
1. During a summer day the air temperature goes through the most fluctuations. It is much easier for
the ambient air temperature to increase and decrease rapidly. It takes much longer for the much
denser ground to both heat up and cool down. During the day the sun's radiation heats up the air in
the atmosphere. This happens for many hours and causes large increases in temperature. The air
temperature increases as this occurs, whereas the ground takes much longer. Additionally when the
sun sets the temperature begins to drop. The air temperature drops rapidly, but the ground
temperature does not. This is due to the insulating properties that the ground possesses. Therefore it
can keep a certain temperature for longer and is more resistant to ... Show more content on

Theses similar patterns do not mirror the patterns observed in the summer data. The primary reason
for this is due to the fact that the reduced amount of sun from a lower aspect and less time in the sky
means that both ecosystems don't have time to be affected. Both soil temperatures sit around the
same average since there is no real exposure to sun and both are insulated. The natural density of
dirt and other contributions to the soil insulate it from temperature changes. The air temperature in
both ecosystems fluctuates with the same patterns and are similar. The approaching winter means
that naturally temperatures will go down and the lack of sun is a large factor which causes a
normalizing effect on the ecosystems, it brings them down to similar

Coming To Faith Research Paper
"I used to think that I could shape the circumstances around me, but now I know Jesus uses
circumstances to shape me." –Bob Goff Faith is an integral part of many lives. It is what makes
many who they are. It shapes and molds people in life–changing ways and make them feel whole
and complete. Knowing that feeling God's call is one of the most life–changing experiences
someone can ever have, I asked a family friend to share her story of coming to faith. This is her
story as I interpret it. I grew up near Detroit in Michigan where lived with my mom, dad, and
younger brother. We were Catholic but faith was never a quintessential part of our daily lives. It was
merely something we did out of obligation to culture and tradition. In eighth grade, my world came
crashing down around me when my mom left. From then on, my dad became my rock, someone
always present no matter the trial. Next, came high school. I attended St. Thomas Aquinas High

Peasants Daily Life During The Middle Ages
Peasants' daily lives revolved around work to provide food for their families through mostly
farming. They were the backbone of society during the Middle Ages because they paid the taxes and
produced the food. Most peasants lived in small two–room cottages with dirt floors or farms on a
manor. The common room was the kitchen, living room and dining room. Their beds were piles of
straw, the windows were holes and light was provided by candles. Peasants owned a few furnishings
and a wealthier one would own a bed frame. In the winter, peasants brought their livestock inside to
keep the cottage warm and some peasants died from overexposure to the cold. Their clothing

Their livestock provided them with milk, cheese and meat. Peasants died when there was low

dangerous and the infant death rate was high. Also, situations where the infant was left alone or in
the care of a sibling because the family has to work increased the death rate. During childbirth, the
mother would be in company with a midwife. Peasants and lords followed the same procedures in
regards to childbirth and baptisms. Children played with what toys were available to them and did
small chores such as tending to the livestock until the age of seven. At the age of seven, males
would received formal education led by the church and become an apprentice to learn the work of
his father so they could support the family. Girls stayed home to help with the household and did not

St. Johns Lutheran Church
For as long as I can remember, St. Johns Lutheran Church has been like a second home. It is the
church where I was baptized (for a second time), took first communion and affirmed my faith
through confirmation. I belonged at St. Johns. I was a member of St. Johns.
As I entered adulthood, I had a natural instinct for organization and leadership and I had a strong
interest in using those talents to serve the church. I worked with youth groups, participated in
WELCA, served on the church council and it seemed there wasn't a task I would not take on. Many
people, myself included, anticipated the next logical stop on my journey would be seminary.
But I didn't feel or hear the call at the time.
Nearly two decades later, I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. It would start with a
simple but powerful statement, "We are called to make disciples, not members." That statement
would lead me to reflect on and seek out a better understanding of what it meant to be a disciple.
That, in turn, led me to study and reflect on the concept of servanthood. I realized that developing a
more personal and authentic relationship with Christ required more than just attending worship,
working in the church and simply believing in Him. I realized that living a Christ–like life required a
different way of thinking, a different way of living.
The years that followed were filled with more questions than answers. It was a time of skepticism
about the work of the church and how much time

the Kings ("People of the Middle Ages"2), and the king would make laws, with ministers and
parliament (Macdonald, 30). Since there was only one of him, he gave land to loyal Lords and
Knights to rule land ("People of the Middle Ages"). The king would give land to Knights, who
would become vassals. The king even allowed peasants to make a living off his land which would
take place in for example a manor run by a Lord or vassal (Brooks 1). From the feudal system,
Kings also gained many things. From the Knights turned vassals, a king would gain military

A Life Of My Life
PEASANT
I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour
that is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It's no wonder
waking up at 3 am isn't a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to
the lord's farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to
work, from dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we'll have to work harder since
there is a lot of harvest in summer.
We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally
the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn't have to work, but
go to the Lord's castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life.
Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn't agree with the idea that
you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the
knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of
"justice". It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That's just over the top. It
should be that he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it's continuous, I
agree that more serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys' first time.

When knights would go through training, they did not go to school. They go through chivalry which

from ages 7–14 (Alchin). At age 7 boys are sent away to castles and or to a lords home to have some
experience with them to get a good experience on what it's like to be a knight. They would watch the
things knights had to do and learn from them (Alchin). They were not able to use real weapons
because of their young age so they would instead practice their skills with wooden horses, swords
etc (Alchin). Because they were kids and could not practice on real horses they would practice
fighting by giving piggyback rides (Alchin). Pages had to use physical skills like climbing
swimming throwing archery and wrestling (Alchin). When they were young the boys would start
with practicing on ponies and as they grew were expected to care for the horses (Alchin). As they
grew up, they were expected to actually ride a horse, and eventually end up owning several war
horses. War horses were large and strong which was very helpful during battle (Alchin). As they got
older to become a knight grew they had to do more dangerous things to feel what it is like to be a

or wrong. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, young boys are stranded somewhere totally new, both
in its physical and social environments, and once civilization is stripped away, a clear dividing line
separates those who fight the savagery from those who embrace it. The physical environment of the
island greatly impacted the characters and their storylines in The Lord of the Flies. The climate of
the island meant that the boys did not need to struggle to stay alive, so they were not unified in the
desire to survive. The article The New Psychology of Leadership states "social identity also allows
people to identify and act together as group members"(pg.3) If they had needed to focus on staying
warm, for example, the boys would have had a group identity in the original tribe. However, the
island they crashed on was warm and habitable, so the boys did not have a group identity, until Jack
shaped one with his tribe. The island they were on was also inhabited by pigs, so there was an outlet
for Jack's aggression, leading to his increasing tendency to be cruel. Jack was emotionally driven in
the beginning of the book, and exercising the power he had through the hunting of pigs only
increased that hunger for power, which led to the division of the boys. Jack's need to be in

Medieval Manor Pros And Cons
A medieval manor was a large agricultural estate that was made up of various types of farming
lands, a village where the current manor tenants would live, and a manor house where the lord who
owns or controls the estate lives. It was typically the wealthy who owned or had control over any of
the manors. Most manors were built of natural stone and were built to last. Their size usually
illustrated the owner's wealth.
During the 16th century, medieval manors were built by lords and ranged in size from 1,200–1,800
acres and were primarily used for agricultural purposes. There were a wide variety of people who
resided inside a medieval manor. The manor's lord acted as a direct line of communication to the
King. The vassal or "liege", was known

Macbeth Fate Analysis: Why Macbeth's Ambition Led to His Demise

  • 1. Macbeth Fate Analysis Why? What prompted this heinous act? What knowledge did these men obtain that condemns my dear family to this execrable fate? A week past saw my blade unsheathed. Here I lie, cold, wet and helplessly betrayed on my death bed. Do I deserve such a detestable death? Perhaps I do? No, I know that I lived an honourable and just life. My principles in life were built upon moralities synonymous with that of loyalty, honour, honesty; especially for those I hold close. I battled against the dreams of those prophecies and proved myself worthy of what was told. I defended my character and was sincere to what I stood for. Never did I succumb or weaken in the wait of temptation. Since the day on the heath when those foul witches' prophesised the doomed fates of Macbeth and myself, Macbeth's unpretentious character has ominously changed, as if ... Furthermore onto Thane of Cawdor, this named shortly after the predictions, doing nothing to intentionally attain the title but demonstrate his own character, a strong, passionate and loyal countryman. This was the Macbeth regarded as a man with pride, with honour! However, the final prophecy was the one that changed Macbeth, a title that toyed with his ambition. Being told he would become King I believe was the beginning of his timely demise. Over time his aspirations steered him to take a path the true Macbeth would have certainly ignored. He was tempted by those strange creatures to descend onto this path of commotion and turmoil. His courageous ways were overcome by his ambition, lost, as he was not strong enough to combat his devious emotions. He began to become isolated; acting suspiciously, plotting wicked schemes with Lady Macbeth. He was given an opportunity to take the position of King and he took it, viciously, deprived of restraint. I lay here in rebuke to Macbeth and his ghastly ways, choosing a path in which ambition need not lead to betrayal and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The First Humans Were Hunter Gatherers The first humans were hunter–gatherers. The men hunted and the women organized the farming and gathering in an egalitarian social model of equality for all men and women. Approximately 12,000 years ago agriculture replaced the traditional hunter–gatherer routines for a more permanent and consistent lifestyle centered on agriculture. As a result class or rank based societies were formed. The dominant government and society in European was the feudal system where land was granted for service. After a thousand years the feudal system was replaced by capitalism an economic and political system. Over time the industrial revolution transformed capitalist nations from agriculture to industrial nations. Throughout history countries have wanted to control lands beyond their borders and a new practice named colonialism give Europeans full or partial political power over countries they occupied, or settled in the "Age of exploration." The feudal system is often referred to as Europe Dark Ages or Middle Ages. During the feudal system small communities were formed near the lord and the manor. The king, the church, barons, and lords owned land. The kings in feudal times "Believed God gave them the "divine right" to rule"(Stutz & Warf 29). The king granted or rented the land to the baron for soldiers or taxes or shield money. The baron ruled a large area of land called fiefs that was divided among lords who were in charged of the land and served in the army. Lords and Barons swore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Similarities Between Samurai And Knights In about 1000 to 1600 CE in history two warriors were made with a different name and in two different countries. "More than a thousand years ago, a class of professional warriors arose, who swore oaths of loyalty to noble lords and fought to the death to defend them in battle" (Overview). The two warriors were samurai and knights. Samurais were fighting for Japan in the class of military retainers of the daiyomes while across the seas the knights were fighting on horseback in Europe. To keep order in the land both regions developed a system that historians called federalism. There were more differences than similarities and here are some reasons why the differences were greater than the similarities. The first reason why the differences are greater than the similarities is because of the social order in feudal Japan and Europe. "Historians and other scholars use social pyramids to show how societies were structured" (Document A). The samurai owned loyalty and military service to daimyo 's for land or regular payment while on the other hand knights owned loyalty and military service to the lords. Another difference about samurais and knights was the population. Samurai with families took about 10% of Japan 's population and in Europe, there was estimated 12,000 knights in England and Normany France in the 12th century. One more difference is that there are four people above the knight in the social order but only three for samurai. The second reason why the differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Manorialism: Feudalism During The Middle Ages Manorialism was the economic element of feudalism during the Middle Ages and a manor was a lord's piece of land or estate where they employed serfs to maintain and cultivate the land. In exchange, he gave the serfs protection and housing as long as the serfs fulfil their labor obligations and pay taxes. This arrangement allowed the landless serfs and peasants to have safe and permanent housing while also benefiting the lord with labor and other economic services. Manors varied in their sizes and many lords had more than one manor. The lord's manor included the manor house, church, cottages where the peasants lived, mill, woodland, the pasture and the lord's demesne which was the farmland. The peasants would grind the grain for the manor in the mill and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some crops they cultivated were wheat, vegetables, rye, oats and barley. Some products were traded outside which included millstones, salt and iron. Within the manor, there was a manorial court which regulated the property and services such as the number of pigs that can be pastured per household. The courts also cleared up disputes around inheritance and property. Peasants were required to pay taxes on grain and marriage and they paid a church tax or a tithe which was one– tenth of their income. Some baked bread as a way to avoid taxes, however, this was illegal and treated as a serious crime. A marriage had to be approved by the lord and a unfree peasant could not marry a free peasant. Peasants seldom left the estate and travel more than 25 miles away. Even though serfs were restricted and had few rights, they were not slaves due to the inability of the lords to sell or buy them. The peasants' living conditions were harsh and crowded. Between 15 to 30 families lived in small two room cottages close to each other in the village within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Internal Identity Conflicts In Lord Furnival, By Nathaniel... Crispin's identity is something that he struggles with throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, his name is Asta's son since he lives with his mother and never knew his father. He grew up with no personal name and little dignity because he and his mother were so poor. Later, he becomes the servant of Bear and finds out he is the son of Lord Furnival, the Lord of his small village and various others throughout England. Simply because of the fact he is Lord Furnival's son, he is sought to be silenced and killed. At the end of the book, he chooses to become what he wants to really be, a free man who decides where his own path will take him. Crispin realizes that he ultimately decides who he will serve while doing what action. The social restrictions that previously bind him are cut off and he begins his new life. The picture with the question mark in the man's head represents the internal identity conflict. When John Aycliffe, the steward from Crispin's village, declares Crispin a wolf's head, it becomes legal for anyone to kill Crispin. Whoever spots him, may kill him and reap a monetary award. Crispin does not realize until the end of the book why he is to be killed. Much conflict of the book stems from the escaping and dodging of men searching for Crispin. He always has the fear that he will be spotted in one of the towns while he and Bear are performing. His fears become true when he is spotted in Great Wexley. The picture used to represent this key event in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Superhero Or Supervillian Analysis In the world today there is a great variety of morals. People act out of personal morals depending on the amount of leeway given. In the article "Superhero or Supervillian" by Will Oremus, the author speaks on superpowers and how they may be affecting peoples character. Throughout this essay the reader will read a synopsis of "Superhero or Supervillian", synthesized ideas, and connections to Christian worldview. Throughout Oremus's article a statement is made in paragraph seven stating "It would be nice to think that morality emanates from the sheer goodness of people's souls, but research has consistently shown that people behave far better when they think they're being watched." Singing "Precious Lord" would bring tears to my eyes. My mother's voice had great versatility, momma could sing soprano, tenor, and alto most singers can only sing in one voice. Whatever the melody needed, she could sing it, the music of the choir was sweeter because momma was singing. The extra time in her schedule went to the church, serving as the church treasurer and as a member of the Board of Trustees. Momma and daddy (George Rhodman) were very active in our church, Standfield, and our community. Love of the Lord, family, and all people, my parents exemplified that unconditional love. In fact, momma designed our church edifice and daddy built it with their own resources. Serving the church with dedication, professionalism, and their service blessed all. Health challenges curtailed my parent's participation in church events, but their faithful service for all those years continues to bless us. The success that I have realized in my life and the ministry can be tied to my parent's dedication and faithfulness. Through forty years of marriage, child rearing, and ... • 18. Peasants And Serfs Peasants were members of the lowest class, those who work. They were the most common class. They were the millers, blacksmiths, butchers, carpenters, farmers, and other trades people. Peasant women in particular, spent much of their time taking care of children, making clothes, and cooking meals. They also tended gardens, took care of animals by tending chicken, shearing sheep, and milking cows (Cels 16). Within peasants, there were two main groups of people, the serfs and the freemen. Both were employed by the lords. And serfs were people that paid more fees, and had less rights. Freemen on the other hand paid less fees and had more rights than serfs (Noiret). • 20. Vows: A Narrative Fiction The days were definitely getting colder and shorter. Catelyn drew her cloak more tightly around her as she walked from the Great Hall back to the Keep after breaking her fast. She was to meet with Robb and Willas Tyrell in Ned's solar this morning to discuss the letter which had arrived from King's Landing bearing the royal seal. She had known it was coming, of course, but reading those imperious words which could barely be called even courteous and made no pretense of being anything other than commands dictated by the woman now styling herself Queen Regent had made Catelyn's blood boil. The woman had actually put a time limitation on her demands, explicitly stating she expected to see the party from Winterfell in King's Landing within two moons. No response had as yet arrived to the letter she'd Ned, but scarcely enough time had passed for a raven to fly to the Wall and back again, even if the weather remained fair throughout its journey. Tyrell had sent a vaguely worded response to his brother's letter hinting that Lord Redwyne's fleet might be needed somewhere other than Dragonstone, but of course King's Landing was even further from Winterfell than the Wall was so they had no reply from Ser Garlan as of yet. Tyrell had actually given his letter to Robb to read before having Maester Luwin send it, a gesture which caused Robb to look upon him more favorably. In return for the work, lords would protect the peasants and gave them a share of land to grow their crops (Cels 4). Peasants that did not own any land would be hired by lords or peasants who were in better condition than them to work for them on the land (Cels 8). Peasants had to work almost for the whole day growing food and making other things for their family and to give to the lords (Cels 4). Lord Kelvin, otherwise known as William Thomson, is well known for his discovery of the Kelvin scale. Without multiple inventions and discoveries made by William Thomson, the science world would be lacking much insight of thermodynamics, navigation at sea, and communication across the Atlantic. Although not an Einstein, Thomson's contributions to the science world have allowed scientists and our physics class to learn about absolute zero and how to make calculations using the Kelvin scale. Through his college years, he began to notice and look extra carefully into electricity, magnetism, and heat. With more interest in electricity, magnetism and heat, Thomson wanted to find out how all of these things related and how they interacted with one another. His namesake was derived from the Confederate president who had presided over one of America's bloodiest conflicts: the Civil War (17). Merely two months and sixteen days before, this war had officially begun. Shortly thereafter, Tant's father, William, heeded the call of the Confederacy and left his family behind to fight against the Union armies (17–18). Three years later, the war had reached Tant's home in northern Georgia. The homestead that he had labored to establish there was destroyed five days before the Battle of New Hope Church occurred, leaving his wife and three young sons to fend for themselves amid a hostile environment (12–15). This was J.D. Tant's first taste of what the world offered. The years following the War, his parents did what they could to provide for their children. When William Tant returned home, he attempted to retrieve the deeds to some of his property, but it was promptly stolen by a man named Babe Forsythe (20). William proceeded to move his family to South Georgia where he tried his hand at farming, trading, carpentry, and various other odd jobs, but none of these occupations yielded any sustainable income (21). Methods: The materials that were used to complete this lab was an instruction packet, probe thermometer, IR gun, the Kestrel weather instrument, and a finger. III. Results: For this lab my classmates and I all had to go to different locations to collect the data that was needed. Some of us were out in the sun, others were in the shade so we all got different answers on our sheet. For my location I was out in front of the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS). At that location we looked at three sub location for our data, there were the grass, mulch, and rocks. The sites had many characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the location had direct sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing at CELS but it felt like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had a very diverse landscape. We also gave characteristics for the three sub locations that we observed. For number one we looked at the grass and it was yellow with wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black, brown, and dry. Number three was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. • 36. Charles 's Law Of Temperature And Volume Charles 's Law of temperature and volume helped discover the concept of absolute zero. Charles discovered that when a fixed amount of gas is cooled at constant pressure, the volume of the gas decreases. When looking at a graphical representation of Charles's Law the temperature in which the volume is said to be zero is –273.15 degrees Celsius, in which it is now referred to as absolute zero. Charles's Law describes that temperature and volume are directly proportional. Therefore, when temperature increases, volume increases and the same for the opposite, when the temperature decreases, the volume decreases as well. The mathematical way to display Charles's Law is where the V represents the volume of the gas, the T represents the temperature of the gas , and b represents the pressure of the gas. The graphical representation of Charles's law is shown as a graph where the x–axis is the temperature in degrees Celsius and the y–axis represents the volume of gas in milliliters. The relationship between temperature and volume creates a positive slope in the graph itself, in which it demonstrates that when the temperature increases the volume of gas increases as well. As the graph continues to represent the relationship of volume and temperature of the gas, when the temperature decreases to a point where the temperature is zero degrees Celsius, the volume is not zero. • 38. Canterbury Tales Literary Analysis Throughout the semester in class, we read a lot of short stories, and poems. One of the stories that stuck out to me the most to me, is The Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer. This tale is based on the millers, which is the topic of my paper. When it comes to the millers, there is a lot to know such as who they are, what they do, how the mills worked, their role in the Feudal system, how they make a living, what they ate, where they lived, what kind of clothing they wore, how the millers are able to assure they can continue to make enough money to live on, and so much more. To start with, a miller is someone who worked in a mill, especially a grain mill ("Medieval Miller"). A miller would work on a lord's estate and rented the mill from a lord for periods of a year at a time. A miller lived above their mills or in cottages very close to their mills, so they could wake up and go straight to work. Millers wore Roman style tunics made of wool and they wore leather shoes. Sometimes the millers also wore a leather apron and cap, that was on rare occasion. Millers had a special food diet, in which they ate similar to a serf, eating pottage, soup, bread, ale and sometimes pork. miller's had better bread because they had better access to better grains. Unfortunately, millers did not get paid that well as they only got one–twelfth or one–sixteenth of grains that they grew and ground up. Some millers stole their pay before they got paid so they received double the pay. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti 'Cousin Kate' by Christina Rossetti describes a cottage maiden who was seduced and used by the lord of the estate for which she worked. She was surprised and taken a back by the fact that someone so great and powerful could be slightly interested in her, and so she automatically fell in love with him. It wasn't until after he had slept with her that he left her for her cousin, Kate. The cottage maiden was devastated that he had done that to her. She felt unclean and unwanted. Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The poem demonstrates how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he pleases, and because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This brings into light the difference between higher and lower class people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not believe her and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations. According to the maiden, Kate's love was not real. 'O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was writ in sand'. This tells us that Kate's love was going to disappear and was only a temporary emotion which was later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the maiden's love was real. The maiden may just be saying this for revenge against Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel better but we do not know. The Lord's love towards the maiden was not real, 'His plaything and his love'. 'Plaything' and 'love' are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her for a while or was it all just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her then left her for Kate. The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used this, his power and his wealth against the maiden. The Lord casts off the female once he meets Kate, who is 'fairer' than the narrator. This shows that males do not always get emotionally involved in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Sodomy In Seventeenth-Century England In seventeenth–century England, the crime of sodomy was considered to be a heinous sin. In a time when religion governed law, homosexuality was not tolerated. The case against Lord Audley, Earl of Castlehaven, represents the treatment of those convicted in engaging in sexual behavior with men. Not only was sodomy frowned upon because it went against God's laws, but it was also considered a crime against honor. Lord Audley's trial shows that a crime of deviance is worse than a crime against another human being in seventeenth–century England. The Lord High–Steward stated that if there were false accusations made, "God will put it into'th Hearts of these Noble Lords to find it out" but their hearts had been tainted with the fear of sodomy. Homosexuality was not recognized but was attributed to deviant behavior. This deviance was feared so much that those who committed it would be sentenced to death. It is referred to as something "so abominable and vile a nature" and "a Crime not to be named among Christians" . In Cynthia Herrup's article "The Patriarch at Home: The Trial of the 2nd Earl of Castlehaven for Rape and Sodomy", she updates Bingham's analysis of the trial and brings it into the modern world. She writes that "he was convicted of these crimes in defiance of the power delineations of early modern society" Herrup supports Bingham's theory that she "understood the trial to be primarily about the fear of sodomy" rather than the crimes themselves. The fact that he encouraged the raping of his wife and daughter are surpassed as the crime of sodomy comes to light. Whether the crime was punishable by death because it was a crime against God's commands or because of society's fear is questioned in the trial. However, the evidence points to the latter. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were conserved on the NCs surface in the TFT devices at a curing temperature of 150 °C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss at 150 °C (Figure. 4). Moreover, the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 °C also supported the existence of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the alkyl group Csp3–H and carboxylate group COO– (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The µ increased after the ligand exchange process because of the decrease ligand length from OA (1.97 nm) to BET (0.48 nm). TFT characteristics of the In2O3–OA NCs and In2O3–BET NCs thin films annealed at different temperatures. The µ of In2O3–OA NC and In2O3–BET NC thin films increased by 2–4 orders of magnitude with increasing annealing temperatures from 150 °C to 350 °C, at which the OA or BET ligands decomposed as discussed in the TGA (Figure 4) and FTIR results (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Specially, the highest mobility obtained in this study are 4.1 cm2V–1s–1 for the In2O3–BET NC TFT annealed at 350 °C. This can be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands OA or BET on the NC surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with increasing annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the crystalline domain sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the supplementary information). The crystalline domain sizes were not significantly affected by the annealing temperature, indicating that the In2O3 NC thin films still consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15]. Serfs had a major role in the medieval time period, they were the ones, along with the freemen, who did the hard work in the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for the whole manor, the lord, and the king. Feudalism was a type of government, it was created not for fairness, but for organization. Don't get me wrong, those songs are nice. But when you are going through, you need to sing something that is going to strengthen your faith. You need to pull out that good ol Thomas Dorsey, "Like a ship that's tossed and driven, battered by an angry sea; when the storms of life are raging, and their fury falls on me. I wonder what I have done, that makes this race so hard to run; then I say to my soul, take courage, the Lord will make a way somehow!" In other words, though I've been beaten, hurt and taken advantage of, I know that the Lord will make a way somehow. Though the pain in my body becomes unbearable, I know that He will make a way somehow. Like a ship, I've been tossed and driven, battered by the angry sea of life, yet, I will encourage my soul for the Lord will make a way somehow. Every now and then, you've got to learn to encourage yourself. You've got to learn to speak over your life abundance, blessings, and favor. As long as the Lord allows you and I to live, we will be confronted with drama, confusion, trials and misfortune. And the only way to deal with the mess is to realize that you are blessed and not to stress. Paul and Silas were victimized, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Lord Kelvin Contributions William Thomson also known as Lord Kelvin, is a chemist that is famous for Devising the absolute temperature scale, now called the Kelvin scale. He also formulated the second law of thermodynamics. Thomson was given a good education at home by his own father. Thomson was the second child out of four children. Also, his mother passed away when he was at the age of six. Thomson suffered from heart problems at the age of 9 and even came close to death. Thomson's biggest contribution to his area of expertise was the kelvin scale and the second law of thermodynamics. Thomson knew that it would be easier to define extremely low temperatures precisely. Therefore, Thomson made the Kelvin scale where he noted that molecules stop moving at absolute zero and made and absolute temperature scale which is the kelvin scale where absolute zero is 0 Kelvin. Thomson had a major role in making the second law of thermodynamics. The law states that heat will not flow from a colder body to a hotter body. It was actually first formulated to explain how a steam engine works. In conclusion, William Thomson, also, known as Lord Kelvin was a famous chemist who had an extraordinary career that had a great impact on chemistry. • 59. Temperature Increase In The Rainforest Ecosystem 1. During a summer day the air temperature goes through the most fluctuations. It is much easier for the ambient air temperature to increase and decrease rapidly. It takes much longer for the much denser ground to both heat up and cool down. During the day the sun's radiation heats up the air in the atmosphere. This happens for many hours and causes large increases in temperature. The air temperature increases as this occurs, whereas the ground takes much longer. Additionally when the sun sets the temperature begins to drop. The air temperature drops rapidly, but the ground temperature does not. This is due to the insulating properties that the ground possesses. Therefore it can keep a certain temperature for longer and is more resistant to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Theses similar patterns do not mirror the patterns observed in the summer data. The primary reason for this is due to the fact that the reduced amount of sun from a lower aspect and less time in the sky means that both ecosystems don't have time to be affected. Both soil temperatures sit around the same average since there is no real exposure to sun and both are insulated. The natural density of dirt and other contributions to the soil insulate it from temperature changes. The air temperature in both ecosystems fluctuates with the same patterns and are similar. The approaching winter means that naturally temperatures will go down and the lack of sun is a large factor which causes a normalizing effect on the ecosystems, it brings them down to similar ... Coming To Faith Research Paper "I used to think that I could shape the circumstances around me, but now I know Jesus uses circumstances to shape me." –Bob Goff Faith is an integral part of many lives. It is what makes many who they are. It shapes and molds people in life–changing ways and make them feel whole and complete. Knowing that feeling God's call is one of the most life–changing experiences someone can ever have, I asked a family friend to share her story of coming to faith. This is her story as I interpret it. I grew up near Detroit in Michigan where lived with my mom, dad, and younger brother. We were Catholic but faith was never a quintessential part of our daily lives. It was merely something we did out of obligation to culture and tradition. In eighth grade, my world came crashing down around me when my mom left. From then on, my dad became my rock, someone always present no matter the trial. Next, came high school. I attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Southgate, Michigan. Then, the preacher held an altar call. Moved by the Holy Spirit, my hand shot into the air. It was so very sudden, but inside, all I felt was a peace and love like nothing before. • 63. Peasants Daily Life During The Middle Ages Peasants' daily lives revolved around work to provide food for their families through mostly farming. They were the backbone of society during the Middle Ages because they paid the taxes and produced the food. Most peasants lived in small two–room cottages with dirt floors or farms on a manor. The common room was the kitchen, living room and dining room. Their beds were piles of straw, the windows were holes and light was provided by candles. Peasants owned a few furnishings and a wealthier one would own a bed frame. Peasants and lords followed the same procedures in regards to childbirth and baptisms. Children played with what toys were available to them and did small chores such as tending to the livestock until the age of seven. At the age of seven, males would received formal education led by the church and become an apprentice to learn the work of his father so they could support the family. • 65. St. Johns Lutheran Church For as long as I can remember, St. Johns Lutheran Church has been like a second home. It is the church where I was baptized (for a second time), took first communion and affirmed my faith through confirmation. I belonged at St. Johns. I was a member of St. Johns. As I entered adulthood, I had a natural instinct for organization and leadership and I had a strong interest in using those talents to serve the church. I worked with youth groups, participated in WELCA, served on the church council and it seemed there wasn't a task I would not take on. Many people, myself included, anticipated the next logical stop on my journey would be seminary. But I didn't feel or hear the call at the time. Nearly two decades later, I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. It would start with a simple but powerful statement, "We are called to make disciples, not members." That statement would lead me to reflect on and seek out a better understanding of what it meant to be a disciple. That, in turn, led me to study and reflect on the concept of servanthood. I realized that developing a more personal and authentic relationship with Christ required more than just attending worship, working in the church and simply believing in Him. I realized that living a Christ–like life required a different way of thinking, a different way of living. The years that followed were filled with more questions than answers. It was a time of skepticism about the work of the church and how much time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was indeed a 'flaming June' and there were those in Axholme who declared it too hot to work. • 71. A Life Of My Life PEASANT I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour that is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It's no wonder waking up at 3 am isn't a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to the lord's farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to work, from dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we'll have to work harder since there is a lot of harvest in summer. We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn't have to work, but go to the Lord's castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life. Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn't agree with the idea that you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of "justice". It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That's just over the top. It should be that he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it's continuous, I agree that more serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys' first time. Then there's Sybilla. She cheated on her husband, and got what she deserved: a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis When placed somewhere new and confusing, filled with unfamiliar sights and sounds, people will desire to make sense of their environment, no matter their previous conditioning as to what is right or wrong. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, young boys are stranded somewhere totally new, both in its physical and social environments, and once civilization is stripped away, a clear dividing line separates those who fight the savagery from those who embrace it. The physical environment of the island greatly impacted the characters and their storylines in The Lord of the Flies. The climate of the island meant that the boys did not need to struggle to stay alive, so they were not unified in the desire to survive. The article The New Psychology of Leadership states "social identity also allows people to identify and act together as group members"(pg.3) If they had needed to focus on staying warm, for example, the boys would have had a group identity in the original tribe. However, the island they crashed on was warm and habitable, so the boys did not have a group identity, until Jack shaped one with his tribe. The island they were on was also inhabited by pigs, so there was an outlet for Jack's aggression, leading to his increasing tendency to be cruel. Jack was emotionally driven in the beginning of the book, and exercising the power he had through the hunting of pigs only increased that hunger for power, which led to the division of the boys.
