3. PHOTOSYNTHESIS
It is a process by which green plants
synthesize carbohydrates such as
sugar and starch from carbon
dioxide and water in the presence
of chlorophyll and sunlight.
6. LIGHT REACTION
It takes place in the GRANA of the chloroplast.
• Light energy converter to chemical energy contained
in ATP molecule.
Water is broken down in to hydrogen and oxygen
utilising light energy.
7. DARK REACTION
Takes place in the STROMA of the chloroplast.
This phase do not require light.
Formation of glucose.
8. FORMATION OF GLUCOSE
The hydrogen atoms that are released by the
break down of water molecules during the
light reaction combine with the carbon atoms
from carbon di oxide molecules for the
synthesis of glucose in dark reaction.
9. Glucose is highly soluble in
water so the plants convert the
glucose in to starch and store in
their tissues.
10. IMPORTANCE OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS
I
It is not only a process of carbohydrate
formation,but also a process of
transformation of solar energy.
All organism including depends
directly or indirectly up on this process.
Convert the solar energy in to the
utilizing form of energy.
11. The plants form the major
source of human food.
It support the advanced
industrial civilization of the
world.
It purifies the atmosphere by
taking in co2 and liberating o2
