Chloroplast consist of a green pigment called chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll helps to trap sunlight.
6. PHOTOSYNTHESIS IN GREEN PLANTS CONSIST OF TWO STEPS
Light Reaction
It occurs in the grana of chloroplasts
It takes place in the presence of sunlight
Light energy is converted into the energy in ATP molecules
Water molecule is converted into hydrogen and oxygen
Dark Reaction
It occurs in the stroma of chloroplasts
Light is not essential for this process
In this step hydrogen and carbon molecules combined to form glucose
