2. What is it?
The Philosophy of Teachnology is a
teacher’s personal philosophy
about how they use technology as
a teaching tool.
I’m not a fan of the tech thing.
3. What I’ve learned
I’ve learned that as teachers we want
to develop
Engaged Thinkers,
Ethical Citizens,
with an Entrepreneurial Spirit
And apparently tech is how we should
do it.
4. What else I’ve learned and
relate to Teachnology
-Wi fi should be extended to the
school yard so students can take
their ipads outside to the
playground. Really.
-Smartboards are necessary in
elementary schools. Hmm.
-Because kids are connected, that’s
how they best learn. Check.
5. Rationale for Statement
• Kids should play on playgrounds at
recess. Not be on ipads. This thought
makes me want to vomit.
• Children can learn to add, read and work
together without thousands of dollars in
tech.
• One stat I read in a reading said the
average college grad will have spend 6
hours/day watching TV and 3 hours/day
playing video games. Seems like a lot of
being connected to crap, not learning
with tech.
6. How learning about
concept will impact me as
a teacher.
Wasn’t keen on technology before
this course, and am extremely
turned off it now. So probably won’t
be using a lot of it.
7. I’ll throw you a bone
Although overall there have been many
tech examples in this class that make me
question is we are beginning to focus on
compensation over remediation, I see the
value of some tech.
Assisted technology for learning is pretty
awesome. Text to speech stuff and the
Brailled Writer from Aroga would be great
for student with the applicable disability.
