1. Self Reflection
The modern world is developing and the technology is also rapidly growing. ICT is becoming the new
way of life and people are aware of the impact and importance of ICT. I think that teachers nowadays
need to be equipped with the knowledge of ICT skills because most of the students are digital natives
and learn differently instead of the traditional way of learning. Besides that, teachers need to be up-to-
date with the latest technology and social media because teachers would be the one that can educate
and guide their students to use them rightfully and responsibly.
At first, I wanted to enroll to this course because I think this course would be very helpful for me to learn
about the use of technology in pedagogy and basic technology skills. This course has been a very
interesting experience for me. Dr Azidah was implementing the concept of flipped classroom which I
have experienced with only a few lecturers before. I think it was a very effective way to help learners to
be well-prepared before class and engaged throughout the lesson. I personally like the flipped classroom
concept because it is different from the conventional or traditional way of learning like the ‘chalk and
talk’ concept. Without realizing, I become more disciplined and alert for the lesson and tasks before
going to the class. There were also weekly tasks such as Edpuzzle prepared by Miss Voon Yeun Ting, that
we needed to complete. Those tasks also seemed as a guide and revision for me. I feel like I have the full
ownership of my own learning objectives while learning this subject and I need to take charge of my
learning. Therefore, I think ICT can provide both the resources and the pedagogical framework for
enabling pupils to become effective independent learners.
Other than that, I learned a lot about the latest technology such as web 2.0 and many kinds of learning
tools online that I have never encountered and known existed. These tools can be very helpful for me to
do audio-visual presentation for my assignments and for lessons to my students in the future. Through
ICT, I am able to create interactive classes and make the lessons more enjoyable, which could improve
students’ participation and concentration. Teaching tools such as piktochart, emaze, socrative and
kahoot! are able to make lessons more interesting and engaging. Pupils usually enjoy using computers
and other types of technology. Students would definitely be more excited and attracted to the
sophisticated looking lesson. Lessons would be more effective as they promote students active
participation during the activities in the classroom.
Now, I seem to be more curious and experimental to explore other tools online that can help students’
learning and encourage participation. This is because students have different styles of learning and
intelligence. Therefore, I need to be knowledgeable and more creative with new ways of presenting
lessons and teaching materials. I also believe that learning is always evolving and a lifelong process. Even
after this, I will try to learn more about ICT and integrate them in my daily life as much as possible. As a
teacher, I have to create and provide effective and high quality teaching that enables the development
and progression of all learners. I hope to create new learning opportunity and help the personal growth
of my future students. I also hope to inspire and motivate my future students to be well-educated and
knowledge-loving people. So, in the future they will contribute to the society and change the world to
be a better place.
