of Shakespeare’s most bloodiest
tragedies with ‘Macbeth’.
- To explore some of the most
important themes in Macbeth,
including ambition, violence and the
supernatural.
- To explore Shakespeare’s language
through a variety of ways, including
drama and performance.
- To explore the origins of Sonnets,
reading and analysing some of
Shakespeare’s most famous poems.
Students will learn:
- The elements of detective
fiction, including the study of
one of Sherlock Holmes’ most
puzzling mysteries.
- To explore how language and
structure help create suspense
and tension in detective fiction
- How some of the most famous
villains in English Literature
were created.
- To create and describe their
own villain, taking inspiration
from the literary canon.
Students will learn:
- What is meant by dystopian
fiction and how settings,
characters and other features
help create dystopian stories.
- To read, understand and engage
with some of the most
important dystopian texts ever
written, including reading
Animal Farm.
- To explore extracts from stories
like 1984 and the Hunger
Games and use these examples
to develop their own dystopian
tales.
