Positive Tú Commands 
• To form positive informal commands, we 
used the same form as the third person 
singular form. 
• ¡Anda! (Andar) 
• ¡Vende! (Vender) 
• ¡Abre! (Abrir)
Our irregulars were... 
• Ven (Venir) 
• Di (Decir) 
• Ten (Tener) 
• Sé (Ser) 
• Pon (Poner) 
• Haz (Hacer) 
• Sal (Salir) 
• Ve (Ir)
Negative Tú Commands 
• Go to the Yo form - Drop the “O” - Add 
the opposite tú form ending... 
• ¡No bebas en clase! (Beber) 
• ¡No salgas la clase! (Salir) 
• ¡No duermas en clase! (Dormir)
Our irregulars were... 
• No Seas (Ser) 
• No Vayas (Ir) 
• No des (Dar) 
• No estés (Estar) 
• No sepas (Saber)
Pronouns 
• Direct, indirect, and reflexive pronouns 
were attached to a positive command and 
before a negative command. 
• ¡Cómpralo! 
• ¡No lo compres!
Formal Commands 
• Formal commands are used to tell 
someone you are not familiar with (or 
someone you want to show respect to) to 
do something. 
• Teachers, doctors, waiters, friend’s parents...
Formal Commands 
• Positive and negative formal (ud/uds) 
commands are the same. 
• Go to the Yo form - Drop the “O” - Add 
the opposite ud/uds. form ending...

• Escriba / Escriban (Escribir) 
• Enseñe / Enseñen (Enseñar) 
• Haga / Hagan (Hacer) 
• Tenga / Tengan (Tener) 
• Ponga / Pongan (Poner)

Pronouns 
• Pronouns are placed in the same place as 
they are in the +Tú and -Tú forms 
respectively. Attached for positive and 
before for negative.
One last note 
• Verbs that end in Car-Gar-Zar will continue 
to have the same type of change in the 
Formal Commands that they do in the 
preterite tense. 
• Empiece / Empiecen - (Empezar) 
• Saque / Saquen - (Sacar) 
• Almuerce / Almuercen (Almorzar)67u
