3. The Image
The model of my front page will be male
I prefer to find someone black for the image,
but even if I don’t find someone black I can still
take a picture of someone white.
The shot will be a medium close up.
The model will wear a wide hoodie in red, black
or white, a cap, a bandana on his head and a
necklace which will be over his hoodie.
I will do the lightning from the right and I make
sure it drops a lot of shadow, because then the
picture gets a dark side, like rap has a dark side to
it.
4. The Masthead
I have to think about a name for my magazine. It should attract my target audience and
it should have a name which sticks in peoples minds.
I looked at some rap magazine-names and I found:
- Vibe
- XXL
- Rap up
These are all short names and they really stick into peoples minds. So I might use a slang
word for the masthead, for example:
- Smooth
- Fresh
After some research and a lot of thinking I came to the decision to call my magazine:
Rap Circus
5. The Headline
The Headline will be in white and very large compared to the cover lines, but it will be
smaller then the masthead.
The headline will be: 50 CENT ‘New Mix tape released’
The comment under it will be: featuring Eminem and Dr.Dre (written in yellow)
The reason why I took this as the headline is, because while I analysed front pages of
rap and hip hop magazines I saw that the headline always has the name of the rapper,
which is the picture of the front page, in big capital letters and before or after it it is
written something in a smaller font.
For example: In Recovery(written a bit smaller) EMINEM ( written bigger and in capital
letters)
