surreal we know this because the poster also uses
sophistication to appeal to a more teen audience.
This picture portrays the main character firing an
arrow into the air. Her facial expression is very
serious. Behind her is the mockingjay logo. If you
haven't read the books then the logo would be
hard to understand but I think that not knowing
what it means would want me to research the film
more or ask friends which in a way would be
promoting the film because you would be talking
about it and spreading it around. It looks like the
whole set is on fire, which is very effective and
dramatic. It also relates to her nickname in the
film “The Girl on Fire”.
The poster is aimed at an older audience as its
very sophisticated and shows some expectation of
violence because we her holding a bow and arrow

“welcome to the home of the brave”- this tells us
that the film is about courage and you cant be
weak to be accepted.
5. The poster for Spider-man 2 is very serious and
dramatic. It has spider-man looking down on us
and the background is really effective because
you can clearly see the spider webs on the poster
which represents ‘spider-man’ himself very well,
promoting his character. The new York city works
well because its almost as if ‘spider-man’ is
looking down on us and protecting us from the
evil. The light helps ‘spider-man’ stand out more
against the dark city background. Also having the
reflection in his eyes backs the point even more
that he’s watching/protecting us.
The title is in white and stands out in the picture
because it is against a dark , masculine colour,
the colour gives us a sense of darkness and evil to
come in the film. The fonts quite cool because its
more modern.
The poster appears to a more wider audience
because spider-man is a part of the marvel series
which has a very wide fan base worldwide, also

very dark , mysterious and sinister way.
on the right side of his face it is flaking
which gives you an even more dark look.
Its as if he's deteriorating/changing into
the dark side.
The title stands out nicely because its
silver and against a dark background, the
font its self could represent the time
period the film was set in, which gives us
clues about the film.
This poster is aimed at teens and above
as some people under 12 could find this
scary and haunting.

expresses happiness and joy. It has the
two main characters ‘in love’ looking at
each other. The image is very realistic
and makes you want to know more about
there relationship in the film.
The title isn't as obvious as other poster
I've looked at but is still nicely
presented as the colours are fresh and
bright .It is aimed at a more youthful
audience because the man and woman are
both young and ‘in the now’. The actors
are very recognisable in this day and age
so people who are fans of the actors will
be keen to see the film. Having the
actors names across the top help to get
that across, it also gains the film
publicity as people who write for
magazines and newspapers like to share
what actors (famous people) are doing so

8. This poster is for total recall. It is a very
interesting poster as there is lots of things to
discover in the background.
It has a man holding a gun looking away, his facial
expression is serious so we can see that the
situation he’s in might be quite difficult.
I particularly like the catch phrase “what is real?”
as it makes us engaged and keen to find out more.
In the top left corner it almost looks like he’s
deteriorating or even pixelated which could possibly
be related to the tag line because being pixelated
would make you think if he's not a real person or
isn't leading a real life. We can also see some kind
of buildings in he background that may even be
some kind of ‘hover crafts’ or ‘spaceships’. Which
gives us the impression that it could be a ‘Sci-fi
film’.
The title isn't as eye-catching as the picture but
is light and against a dark background so still
stands out.

violence involved. The web-link at the bottom of

Each character has a different facial expression
some serious, mysterious and some sinister.
The colours are dark and mysterious which ties in
nicely with the title.
The title is in a light ‘silver’ and against a dark
background which allows it to stand out nicely.
The tag line is very eye-catching.
The poster is targeted at a more young audience
as the characters are young and cool. Having
Johnny Depp’s name on the front would also
increase people wanting to see it because he is
very recognisable as a actor and has many fans.

“every family has its demons”- is actually very
realistic. It gives you a sense of something bad to
come though but makes you also want to know
which one it could possibly be out of the people on
the picture.
10. This poster is for ‘This Means War’. It
has the three main characters looking
straight at us. The two men on each
side pointing a gun at each other . As
if they are ‘fighting over the girl’.
The title is very bold and the colours
work well. The font is quite modern so
that people don’t get bored.
The catch phrase gives us the
impression that the war ‘is on’
The poster is aimed at a more youthful
audience as the characters are young
and ‘in the now’. With the actors being
attractive more people will come see
the film because the actors are
recognisable so some may be fans of
them. The web-link at the bottom of

11. This poster is for ‘The Dark Knight’.
Its dark and mysterious.
The background is very interesting ,I
really like the building on fire making
the ‘batman’ shape its very creative
and also is a way of advertising
‘batman’ as its self. It also works well
with the dark colours ,the dark colours
also work quite nicely with the title,
there masculine and show darkness in
the film.
The title is light against a dark
background which allows it to stand out
more. The angle of the photo is quite
interesting because it looks like the
city is falling down and batman can still
stay strong through it all, making him
look like a super hero even more.
The poster is aimed at a more younger
audience as the explosions and fire
just ‘grip’ you in. Batman is a very
recognized character which would make
people want to see it even more.
12. ALL
•They all have a picture- to make it more interesting and
recognizable.
•They all have the name of the film included- so it is more
recognizable .
•They all have actors included in the picture- they do this
because the actors will be recognized by people all around the
world so it will be more recognized and publicised.
13. most
•Some have tag lines- which can sometimes be little hints for
the film so makes you more intrigued to learn more about the
film.
•Some are teaser posters- this makes you more excited and
eager to see it.
•Some have the dates of release- this makes you know when
its coming out and makes you more eager to see it because it
builds up the anticipation and gets you really excited.
14. few
•Few have places they are being released in- this is not so
important because most films will be released in the cinemas
but some films are starting to be released in IMAX cinemas
which is a 3D film so it just lets the audience know where you
can see it.
•Few have the actors names on them- I think this should be on
most of them because having the actors name on the cover
would help boost publicity and get more talk about the film,
which would make people more eager to see it.
•Few have website links for the film- this is a good thing to
have as it gives teens more of an opportunity to research the
film and most teens use a lot of technology so there be willing
to research it.
