2. Flippin' PD 4 Teachers fully supports T-TESS goals!
This targeted professional development is done together
during team planning meetings or Faculty Meetings.
Teachers can decided the order of the video segments to
watch based on their goals and the needs of their
students. The strategies presented can be applied the
next class period! Reflection sheets are included with
each segment to document progress on T-TESS goals.
How do schools find quality professional development
without losing valuable instruction time in a year of
budget cuts?
No instructional time is lost and there is
no need to hire a substitute teacher!
3. We meet with the department heads or team leaders before school
starts to set up the professional development calendar for the year.
Before the meeting, the team leader or department head prints of PDF
copies of the materials that will be used in the PD.
Teams meet to watch the new strategy during team planning time or
during faculty meetings. They participate in the strategy to get the
full experience. Since the strategy only takes 20 minutes to complete,
teams will have time to add the strategy into their plans! The new
strategy is implemented in the classroom and the team meets the next
week to reflect on how it went.
Repeat!
How it Works
4. ELA Strategies
Want students to have a deeper meaning of any content area and
become better readers and writers? Close Reading and writing across
the curriculum strategies are essential for students to grasp content at
deeper levels and see the connections between content areas.
Teachers will be involved in hands-on lessons that can be turned
around and used in the classroom! All comprehension strands are
embedded in each lesson!
5. Math Strategies
Math has become more that computation. In these PD sessions,
teachers will learn strategies for problem solving that require
students to read closely. These strategies focus on student discussion
or Math Talks. Train your entire math department with consistent
strategies to fully support all learners in mathematics.
6. New Teacher Academy
Do you have teachers that are new to the profession?
At Flippin' PD 4 Teachers, we know how hard it is to find a good
mentoring program. Scheduling a time when all of the mentors and
new teachers can get together for a meeting is almost impossible! We
created a series of 9 videos for the mentor and the new teacher to
watch together when it is convenient for the both of them. The videos
are short and provide opportunities to discuss things that are going
on in the classroom!
7. At Flippin’ PD 4 Teachers, we believe
professional development shouldn’t be an add
on to the teacher’s job. They shouldn’t have to
get a sub and miss instruction time to learn
great strategies.
That is why we keep our PD short with
strategies that teachers can leave the meeting
and implement the next class period!
