  HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
An ancient phenomenon
  From   the very earliest historical period,
   travel has had a fascination for man.
  Travel in the distant past was not a thing
   of pleasure as is the case now.
  Trade and commerce was however the
   strongest force in the past.
  The trade relation matured into cultural
   relation and better understanding of
   each other’s way of life.
 As  civilization developed, conscious
  travel in order to explore and see the
  world began.
 Many traders could pay for
  transportation as well as accomodation
  either with money or by the exchange of
  goods.
 Many invaders came to India like
  Alexander , Vasco da gama , columbus.
Travel in middle ages
  After the collapse of the Roman empire and
   the onset of dark ages, travel became less
   attractive.
  The result was the most pleasure travel was
   undertaken close to home but international
   travel was available in a small scale.
  Holidays played an important role in the life of
   the public and from earliest time religion
   provided the framework within which leisure
   was spent.
