The believe that taking a bath in natural bodies of water could cure physical

Hot springs in bath were discovered by the Celt kings in England
Spa –salus per aquam or sanitas per aquam meaning health through water.
Springs and pools – cure diseases because the water was blessed by their
gods

Baths became venues for Roman social gathering and recreational activities
18th century- spas became popular among members of high society not only
for their curative value but also for their events. Sightseeing and theatrical
performances served as further incentives.
Seaside Resort became famous, they believe that bathing and drinking could
cure illnesses
