1. Beyonce Re-creation
Vicky and my task was to replicate a photo taken of
Beyonce as accurate as possible, in preparation for
our coursework, as we need to create an identity for
our artist and it helped us to experiment with make-
up and lighting.
3. We chose our friend Georgia to model this picture for us as she
has blonde, curly hair similar to Beyonce’s in the photo. We
began by applying her base make-up this had to be fairly dark to
match Beyonce’s skin tone.
4. Then we filled in her eyebrows to make them thicker and darker
5. We also applied eyeliner above and below her eye to create the
shadow and resemble the smoky eye effect beyonce has.
6. Finally we applied lip liner to thicken her lips and put a lipgloss
on top to get that plum effect. Next, was the tough part of getting
Georgia into the correct position.
7. We had to constantly adjust her ever so slightly in order to get it
as accurate as possible. We then had to place her hair in
specific positions, i.e. across one of her eyes, this took a lot of
time and we used hair grips to alternate specific places of her
hair. We took lots of pictures at different angles to see what
worked best, we also opened the curtain from the left side to let
the light in as in the picture one side is brighter than the other,
this worked really well in constructing the lighting effect of the
photograph.
8. Out of all the shots we took we decided she looked most similar
to the photo in this one. However, we needed to crop out a lot of
the background as it is only a white background.
9. For the post-production stage we turned the picture black and
white on the iphone app instagram then edited the final features
on Microsoft office 2010 by adjusting the contrast and darkness.
10. Our Final Picture
Overall I believe this photo is an accurate replication of the
original picture and it helped me learn how every minute detail
counts.
