Background of study
Dessert is a sweet foods and beverages , but may include coffee, cheeses...Dessert was largely
defined as a sweet ending to the dinner meal but most of customer today, they're eating dessert items
any time a day due to easily accessible to reach , hand held and also sometimes used as meal

My Passion, My Business
MY PASSION What is really my passion? Is it desserts? I have been asking myself to that question
lately. For me, dessert is my most preferred. But the only thing that I like best right now is a pastry
shop. I want to own a confectionary shop because ever since when I was a child I've always wanted
to eat sweets and candies that's why I decided to own a business related to it after I graduate into
college, believing that it will really come to pass. When I was in the elementary, I have never liked
anything that is inline about business. It was not my style at all. Though we already had a business
before that my father built but it never lasted because he was working at the San Miguel Cor., that's
why he decided to sell it to one of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I consider MONT BLANC as a unique pastry shop and there are things you are going to enjoy while

business is beside the beach so that the clients will experience to see the beautiful scenery beside the
sea. It is a vintage style and a two storey building. The lower part of the building is where you can
find all the products you want to buy and the upper part of the building is very open so that the
clients will feel refreshed by the air of the beach. The costumer's can choose where they wanted to
sit comfortably. Now for the products, we sell sweets and pastry like: Gelato, pies, cakes, cookies

environment. It will only cost for 50 pesos above and lower than 150 pesos, except for the coated
chocolates that only cost for 10 pesos per gram. It will be more relaxing because of the surroundings
and I want it to be known by the community or society. I will advertise it to the television, radio or
even go beyond borders like advertising it to the World Wide Web or online. Customers will be
attracted. I also offer delivery services,

I remember Eddie 's Sweet shop when I was just a boy. Growing up in Queens, I use to beg my
parents to drive me over to Eddie 's sweet shop where I would watch the employees make the
homemade ice cream from behind the counter and pour a giant helping of ice cream onto a metal
dish. Now, years later, I have aged but Eddie 's Sweet Shop has remained the same. It 's location still
hasn 't changed on Metropolitan Avenue in Queens, NY near the movie theater. The exact address of
Eddie 's sweet shop is 10529 Metropolitan Avenue in Flushing, NY in the borough of Queens. Eddie
's Sweet Shop is about as Old Fashioned as you can get. How many restaurants have you heard of
that can say they still make homemade ice cream? Eddie 's Sweet shop is a true classic and the
customers who go to Eddie 's sweet shop always come back for its great taste. Even more
memorable than the homemade ice cream and enormous scoops of ice cream that they give you is
the hot fudge they pour onto your ice cream. The hot fudge is also homemade, as are all of the
ingredients used at Eddie 's sweet shop. The ambiance is very unique and well represented of a little
kids store with teddy bears and kids toys scattered by the window sills. There is a long wooden
counter top where the employees serve customers ice cream. Most customers enjoy sitting at the
counter stools and there are also about half a dozen booths in the restaurant to

The Italian Market: A Short Story
When I woke up on the bus I could tell we weren't in Lancaster anymore. Arriving at Philadelphia
seemed like we were farther than just an hour away. It seemed like we time traveled. The Italian
Market looked like it didn't urbanize, only the surrounding community did. All around us were these
tiny "mom and pop" stores. They had your traditional hanging signs with the stores' name. They
didn't light up, rotate, or have many colors. The roads and streets were significantly smaller than the
average. The sidewalks were packed with people selling things on stands and shoppers. The
different aromas filled the air. The south 19th street was lined with different stores that appeared to
be trapped in the early 20th century. Some of the stores have been there since the very beginning of
the Italian Market. Instead of a giant grocery store in those times, you had to go to different stores
that specialized in different things. Therefore as you walked down the street each store had a distinct
aroma. If you didn't look at the sign, just by the smell you could tell what they sold. Everything was
made fresh which made the smells so strong. Throughout the day we stopped at numerous places at
the Italian market. The first stop was DiBruno Brothers. At the first glance, it seemed like your
average delly that you can get meats and cheeses from. I was surprised by the arrange of things they
sold, like century–old cheese and their history. Next stop was Cardenas Oil & Vinegar Taproom. I've
been

First Day On The Job
First Day on the Job I've been employed in the fast food industry for just over three months now.
That may not seem like very long to someone with years of experience under their belt, but I cannot
stress enough how much these last few months have changed me. I've learned more about personal
responsibility and independence at this job than I did during four years of high school. While the
whole process has been meaningful to me, what really set it in motion was my first day behind the
counter. My first day at a real job taught me that no one is going to hold your hand past high school,
and that they shouldn't be expected to.
I was given papers to study in advance, detailing the ingredients of the food we served and the
methods behind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No request to add cheese or hold the sauce was missed in the chaos, and the food was quickly
prepared and sent away to the right register. It was amazing, especially because our cook was also
our manager. Between the meals she prepared, she also kept us all in order. Everyone else
multitasked just as effectively. The supervisor who was training me was also working the drive
through window. Everyone was racing around in their non–slip shoes, effectively juggling more
balls than I even thought possible. I looked down at the rubber non–slip covers I had pulled over a
worn–out pair of sneakers, and realized how temporary I was. If I couldn't keep up, I'd be handing in
my shoe covers and going home before the dinner rush even started.
I signed in, and it was time to find my place in the organized chaos. I met the supervisor responsible
for training me by the drive through window, and between orders from customers she directed me to
the "fountain" area, where drinks and desserts were prepared. It was hardly more than a corner, with
sticky metal containers of fruit and candy flavors embedded in the counter. It faced a soda dispenser,
and an ice cream dispenser that I was about to become very familiar with. My job for the day was to
make drinks and desserts as they were ordered at the drive through window. Simple, right? On
paper, it certainly seemed that way. I didn't even have to ring up the orders or begin to worry about
how the food was made. But in practice, I was dropped

Wine Food Charging
If you're looking to hold a dinner party, whether for your friends, family or coworkers, and you plan
on having wine with dinner, you should pay attention to wine food pairing. Certain wines are
excellent with certain foods. This is most often seen in fine restaurants where menus will have wine
recommendations next to certain food items.
To get a list of wine food pairing options, search online or call one of those restaurants where they
should be more than willing to help you out. So if you want your dinner party to go on without a
hitch and you want it to be unforgettable then choose your wines and foods according to wine food
pairing and plan everything down to the minor detail. That should have people talking about your
party for a long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nearly all wine goes great with cheese, for instance, which is why you usually see wine and cheese
sold in the same locations in stores. Nevertheless, some wines don't go very well with certain foods.
You can sample them to see which ones go with certain foods, which is very fun, or you can find a
list that teaches you proper wine food pairing.
Red wine is excellent with foods that include pasta and red sauce, such as Italian food. Red wine
also goes great with beef and chocolate. Likewise, some red wines, such as Pinot noir, go great with
pork. Considering there are a few types of red wine, you should do a little more research to
determine if the food you plan on serving goes with the red wine food pairing.
As far as white wine food pairing goes, white wine is the best choice for poultry and Asian food.
White wine also goes great with seafood, such as shellfish. It can also go great with most appetizers.
Sparkling wines is an excellent choice with desserts and fruit so they are perfect for after dinner.
And just like white wine, they also look great with certain appetizers.
Of course, this is just a sampled list of wine food pairing. You should do a search based on what you
plan on having for dinner for your dinner party. If you're not certain of the wine food pairing, ask a
chef or inquire at your favorite restaurant. Pairing your wine and food perfectly will make for the
ultimate dinner party and it will most definitely leave everyone who attends satisfied and happy.

Crayon Research Papers
¨These are so simple yet delicious and are a very fun project to try!¨ –Karina Garcia I chose to
research edible crayons because I thought it would be interesting. I already knew you were able to
eat the crayons. My essential question for research was ¨How might I make edible and working
crayon?¨ Researching my project was not the easiest thing to accomplish. First, I found as many
websites as I could find about edible crayons. Then, I tried figuring out how to make the crayons
and if they would actually work like real crayons. Once I figured out they would actually work like
real crayons I got much more excited about the project. One problem I had was trying to figure out
where I would find all of the things I need. The most helpful information I received was learning
how to make the crayons with candy melts (TheKarinaBear). ... Show more content on

I was able to answer most of my questions that I was stumped on. For example, I asked ¨How might
I make edible and working crayons?¨ And I found the answer by looking through my sources
(TheKarinaBear). Another question I answered had was ¨Where am I supposed to buy my supplies
at?¨ And I figured this out by asking my mother and she told me we could buy the supplies I needed
at a nearby cake store. At the beginning of my research, I wondered if edible and working crayons
even existed. I discovered that edible and working crayons really do exist. I found a few websites
involving edible crayons (Edible Crayons for Teacher Appreciation Week, msz.cookie) and I also
found a video on how to make edible crayons (TheKarinaBear). In conclusion, I learned that it was
possible to make edible and working crayons. Finally, I think the crayons will come out cool and be
great! If I had a chance to further research my project I would try to figure out if it is possible to
make other school supplies like erasers, pencils, or even

Ice Cream Sundae
Introduction
ATTENTION–GETTER: Can you describe the perfect cure for a blazing hot summer day? Upon
hearing the phrase "so sinfully delicious," what sensations tend to stir within your body? Throughout
America, a common response typically emerges: "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice
cream!"
Introduce Self: Hi, my name is Maria Papadopoulos, and with summer rapidly approaching, there
proves no greater treat than indulging in a home–made ice cream sundae.
THESIS: In fact, by following three simple steps, one can concoct the perfect ice cream sundae.
Main Point One: First of all, one must decide upon a base, a flavor that will accentuate the delightful
taste of this treat.
Main Point Two: Secondly, the smothering of a rich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TRANSITION: Upon pouring a rich sauce over the ice cream base, one can then enjoy embellishing
the sundae at the very top.
III. As the finishing touches to the creation of an ice cream sundae, an individual must emphasize
the extravagance of such a dessert through the application of tasty toppings.
A. Part of the beauty of a sundae lies in the notion of its having no restraint, for embellishment
options remain practically endless.
1. With its soft, dreamy peaks, whipped cream provides one with a fluffy effect.
2. At the same time, other toppings such as crushed oreos, sprinkles, nuts, and bright red maraschino
cherries together complete the perfect ice cream sundae.
B. Although it seems as if an ice cream sundae emerges as rather costly with its various toppings and
other ingredients, a home–made sundae proves far less expensive than one from an actual ice cream
store.
1. I would like you to listen to this figure from a USA Today article in July of 2001. The price of
milk fat, which exists as the prime component of ice cream, has increased by nearly seventy percent!
2. Surely, even we can relate to this huge price increase here in Champaign–Urbana, for a cup of
plain ice cream smaller than the size of my palm costs around two dollars at the Union.
3. For this very reason, it actually proves wise to create an ice cream sundae to one's own liking at

Ancient Greek Food
Ancient Greek Food Imagine yourself in a room with one of best cooks in all of Ancient Greece,
you are watching him put in Bechamel Sauce, the Kalamata Olives, and Feta Cheese, you breathe in
and smell the dish as it comes together. Then he pours in the best red wine in all of Ancient Greece,
and lets his creation sit for forty five minutes. Now it is your turn to try the masterpiece. You feel as
if your mouth has exploded with the best flavors you have ever tried. Soteriades the Sage was one of
the most famous cooks in Ancient Greece. Legends say he served many kings and always had a new
dish for each type of person he served, including the elderly, lovers, and philosophers. This is
proven in my source "Greekalicious" a historical cookbook written by Maria Bernardis; "Who
(Soteriades the Sage) claimed he prepared different dishes for different moods and ages." The
Ancient Greeks had very similar culinary techniques as the modern day Greeks. The Greeks valued
a variety of foods and plants and incorporated them in preparing some of their finest dishes, many
that are still prepared and eaten today.
Bread and wine were some of the most important ingredients to the Ancient Greeks. They ate bread
with almost every meal. The Ancient Greeks most common breakfast was bread dipped in red wine
with fruit. They also occasionally ate bread with lunch and dinner and often had it as a midnight
snack. To support this, the Ancient Greeks drank wine with their breakfasts.

Descriptive Essay About My Room
My room has always been really basic. It didn't really have anything special. The bed was so
uncomfortable that I hated to even look at it. The window didn't have any curtains, so I always woke
up when the sun would shine through. There was a tiny nightstand to the left of the bed. There were
carpeted floors that smelt horrible, and walls that were painted beige. There wasn't anything that
stood out to me, which was the reason why I was ecstatic when HGTV chose me to have my room
completely redone. The best part was that there was an unlimited budget. I decided that I would
make it the best room in the universe, and it was going to have all kinds of things. I was very
grateful that HGTV decided to choose me to be the lucky person who gets a branch new bedroom. I
told the makers of the show that I was being featured in all kinds of things I would like to have in
my bedroom. I wanted it to be the most unforgettable, phenomenal, and mesmerizing bedroom
anybody would ever see. A few days later, the makers of the television show made me wait outside
my house, while their employees put the final touches on the bedroom. Next, I walked down to my
bedroom, while I was being filmed. I wasn't disappointed when I saw everything that they had done.
The bedroom was better than I had expected. I walked into it and smelt a pumpkin scented candle,
which I knew I would use frequently. It had tiled floors, which was much better than my carpeted
floors. They gave me a brand–new bed to sleep

The Eastern Slope Of The Mingus Mountain
On the eastern slope of the Mingus Mountain in central Arizona sits the town of Jerome. Starting its
life as a mining town in the late 1800's, Jerome, at one time, was known as the Wickedest Town in
the West. Between its bars, brothels, and gambling establishments, Jerome became one of the one of
the most accomplished locales in separating miners from their money.
With the dawn of the 1900's, Jerome became more dignified with the establishment of churches,
schools, and businesses catering to its growing population. It even had its own post office and five
car dealerships. At its peak, Jerome boasted over 15,000 residents with 3000 miners employed in the
town.
By the 1950's, the local mining industry had all but collapsed and the population dwindled to about
100 people. The perseverance of the remaining residents to prevent Jerome from becoming just
another ghost town, however, led to recognition of the town as a National Historic Site. Over the
next couple decades, Jerome went from being a downward spiraling, abandoned mining town to a
major central Arizona tourist destination.
Today, Jerome is a tourist mecca with numerous restaurants, galleries, wine tasting rooms, and
unique shops. A literal Ghost Town aspect of Jerome exists today in the form of local supernatural
legends and ghost tours. With its proximity to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, and Interstate–17 and its
unique shops and restaurants, Jerome is a must see destination when traveling in central Arizona.

Case 25: E. & J. Gallo Winery
Introduction The dessert wine industry realized huge success during the great depression years when
buying regular wine was a luxury that few could afford. Characterized by its sweet taste, high
alcohol content, and cheap price it was until the 80's an easy to buy alcoholic beverage that gave
people with lower income the opportunity to have wine on their table. The 1980's was a decade of
change in people's lifestyle with an emphasis on healthier habits and thus, consuming healthier
products. This change, combined with an increased consciousness about society's moral obligations
had a negative impact on dessert wine, since it was viewed as a cheap wine with higher alcohol

Nevertheless, despite the criticism, the company still produces and sells its signature type of dessert
wines; Thunderbird and Night Train.
Discussion According to the Wine Institute the dessert wine segment is 8% of the total U.S. wine
sales, with Gallo controlling 16.1% of the segment (Wine Institute). The key success factors in the
dessert wine segment have been the placement of this product. Supermarkets, corner liquor stores,
and warehouse clubs all carry it. These wines were the beginning of Gallo and it was not until the
late '70's that Gallo started producing premium wines and wine coolers. At first the premium wines
were marketed without Gallo's name on them but as years have passed and Gallo's various premium
wines have won major awards, the Gallo name became associated with the premium wines, and not
the dessert wines. While there is not a strategic fit per se between the two there is an economy of
scale present and both Gallo and the liquor distributors/ retailers benefit by the company offering a
wide range of products, which helps with bracket buying, merchandise assistance, and signage.
According to Times Magazine, Gallo's dessert wine accounts only for 3% of its total wine sales ever
since the company transitioned to higher quality wine products (Times Magazine). However, dessert
wines, despite the criticism they encounter, have a sweet and more palatable taste which allows for
an easy entry for "new drinkers" to the wine

Speech On Wine Headaches
We've all been there earlier than we're at the quiet of a long nighttime, having consumed lots of
wine, and an intense headache starts off evolved to form. For maximum folks, the cause of a wine
headache is sincerely drinking an excessive amount of wine and now not enough water. The easy
solution right here is to continually be conscious of how plenty alcohol you consume and

But for a small phase of our population, headaches from wine can occur even if we don't drink

Essay About Syllabub
Syllabub may be unknown to many into today's society, but during the 17th century and the early
20th century it was a dish regularly served. The first recorded reference to the dessert was in 1537
play where the character Thersytes declares that "You and I...muste walke to him and eate a
solybubbe!" It has gone through minor changes along the way but it's original idea has remained the
same. Originally milk was sweetened and mixed with cider sack and was left for days to curdle and
treated as a drink that could be served either hot or cold. At the same time, a more solidified version
was being created using cream, wine, and spirits. More recently, however, less alcohol and more
cream is being used to produce the dessert so that it could stand in a cool place and remain delicious,
soft, and fully whipped – this was known as an 'everlasting syllabub'. Sillie is the french word for
sylla and comes from the Champagne region of France where wine got it's name, and the word bub
is Elizabethan slang for a bubbling drink. When the two terms are put beside one another, "Sillabub"
means wine mixed with a frothy cream. This dish is best when covered in tiny bubbles. The best way
to achieve this effect is to spray milk from the udder into the wine.By 1800's, the syllabub recipe

The Cultural, Economical And Social Factors That Affect...
Introduction
An interior project called Gelatoria is being developed. To make this successful, it is important to
become familiar with the industry not just by knowing the components and ingredients of product
but also through familiarity with other factors correlated with the success and survivability in the
market. The typical gelato shops in Italy are characterized by its unique atmosphere imitating the
European lifestyle. Its homemade frozen desserts are the center of attraction not only for adults but
for all consumers of all ages. Gelato is indeed popular in Italy as it is enjoyed by all kinds of
consumers (D'amico, Nevstrueva, Guan, Gon, Annini, and Yang 8). This paper aims to provide a
discussion of the cultural, economical and social factors that affect the industry of gelato, ice cream,
yogurt and other frozen desserts. These factors will provide a deeper understanding why certain
products become successful in specific regions and how culturally diverse products could be

a. For the frequency table: students will use their previous knowledge of tally marks and build on
that by taking it one step further and making a frequency table using pretzel sticks. They are going
to use their desk to create a frequency table using their dry erase markers and pretzel sticks. Walk
them through how to draw it using the illustration below for clarity. They will need to fill in the
types of pies before being given the data; you can use the types of pies that are listed in the book on
page 12, or you can have the class fill it in with 4 different types of pies. After they have drawn their
table, they will need to fill it in. Give them the following data: First row (whatever type of pie you
decided) 8, second row 4, third row 11, fourth row 5. As you give them each number, they need to
fill in the tally section with that number of pretzel sticks; the fifth pretzel stick should sit diagonally
across the other pretzel sticks just like regular tally marks. Once they have all their tally marks, have
them write the numerical total for each row in the last column. b. For Dot Plot (found on page 13):

For this piece, I have made a wonton dessert. It has a caramel colored top and bottom, with cream
cheese drizzle inside. Over the drizzle is pistachio cream and strawberries. I used a bit of my own
style, along with how the dessert is made. My piece is titled, "Wanton Love." I made "Wanton Love"
using clay. I used the slab building technique for the top and bottom pastry part. For the pistachio
cram, I used an extruder (similar to one you would find in a play dough box). My artwork was
inspired by Wayne Theiboud. It shows that one can be complicated on the inside, even though the
outside may look simple. I was trying to express the complications of a person, through the

New Products / Special Project Manager For California...
Introduction
As the New Products/ Special Project Manager for California Valley Wine Company (CVWC), I am
left with the responsibility of recommending a new product to correct the diminishment of sales and
declining profitability to the New Product Evaluation Committee. I've gathered information to
develop the following plan to address my recommendation based upon CVWC's current situation.
Key Characteristics
1988 CVWC owned 1,600 acres of grapes mostly Chenin Blanc, Thompson Seedless, and Ruby
Cabernet.
The company marketed wines in 1.5 and 3.0 liter bottles which retailed for $3.59 and $6.79.
The three wines sold were Chenin Blanc, Mountain Burgundy, and Mountain Rose.
In recent years, the wine business in California experience particular difficulties.
The highest–ever consumption level occurred in 1985 and 1986 at 2.43 gallons per capita.
In 1987, for the first time in 25 years, per capita consumption of wine decreased due to the
following: o Growing Health Consciousness in society o Greater awareness of physical problems
associated with alcohol consumption o Stiffer DUI laws and a rising drinking age
After 15 years of solid growth, total wine consumption (including coolers) in 1987 slipped to 581
million gallons.
The number of California wineries grew from 240 in 1970 to over 600 by 1980.
The wine market became flooded with inexpensive foreign wines, mainly from Italy, France, and
Germany.
In 1984, imports held 25.7 percent of the total wine

A Shape In Truman Capote's A Christmas Story
There must be something to fruitcake. It appears at Christmas every year without fail. And yet, it's
also the brunt of some serious jokes. (Who can forget Johnny Carson proclaiming that there is only
one fruitcake in the entire world: It just gets passed around a lot...)
But thankfully, that's not all there is to it, according to Smithsonian.com. In Truman Capote's "A
Christmas Story," some weather officially counts as fruitcake weather, which attests to this seasonal
concoction's staying power and unique deliciousness.
Truth be told, fruitcake in some form goes all the way back to the Romans, who mixed up raisins,
pomegranate seeds, barley, and a plethora of nuts to form what was probably history's first energy
bar. Along the way, people began to add spices. And rum. And even some melted butter and sugary
glazing. It seems that the butt of many people's Christmas jokes is actually quite delicious. It's just
that its reputation hasn't quite caught up with the truth of this holiday treat.
That's where you and your leftover fruitcake come in. You know it has potential to be truly
magnificent, given its long history. You just don't quite know what to do with it. No problem. We've
collected some of the tastiest recipes for leftover fruitcake around. We promise. They really ARE
delicious. We've tried them.
Here are some of our favorites...

Gallo Wines
How important is the dessert wine segment to the industry? to E. & J. Gallo Winery? How do these
products fit with Gallo's stated position on the quality of its products? Do brands like Thunderbird
and Night Train have any redeeming features as a product, even if they are in demand by a segment
of the population?
Dessert wines are very important since it makes up a large portion of the wine industry. Before
Gallo upgraded their image, they had more of a brownbag jug wine image through products like
Thunderbird and Night Train wines. These products for Gallo Winery do very well for the company.
Consumers remain loyal to the brands, especially those that cannot afford other brands. The Gallo

Yet they continue to produce it because it is very profitable. However they feel it is right to produce
dessert wines because, as the result of their study, if they stopped, that segmented population that
purchases the dessert wines would just go and drink something else. However, "by 1989, in the face
of public concern over alcoholism and internal family pressure, Gallo had asked distributors not to
sell its flavored fortified wines to retailers in low–income neighborhoods." (Hoover's profiles).
3. Which approach to managing a company's ethical conduct (see chap. 9, table 9.2) would you say
Gallo seems to be applying? What are the challenges associated with this approach?
Gallo seems to be applying the unconcerned or nonissue approach. They distance themselves from
being associated with Thunderbird and Night Train brands but they allow it because its legal to sell
liquor and they are not worried – everyone else is doing the same thing. The challenge they face is
that stakeholders may not agree with borderline ethical/legal conduct and not invest in the company.
This can lead to image loss and financial downfalls and undermine the entire company.
4. If Gallo Winery decides to abandon the Thunderbird and Night Train brands, what will be the
impact on those individuals who abuse the dessert wine products?

Italian Food Importance
The Importance of Food in Italy Italy is a country vast in history, amazing architecture, historical
ruins, stunning scenery, fabulous food and more. Traditions rule throughout the years. One of the
traditions is the food they make and how it is passed down from generations. The relationships
Italians have with their family are very strong and it is important to them to pass down their
traditions and recipes. Food has a strong social aspect with the Italians. It is important for them to
get together to cook and share meals. In Italy, Italian food is a big part of their culture. Some four
million Italians came to America, largely from the south of Italy and the island of Sicily. People that
come to America carry along the tastes and sometimes also the seeds, recipes and ingredients of
their homes. What the world today knows as pizza is the product of a long history of changing
connections between Italy and the Americas and between both countries and the entire world. It is a
history of travel, tourism, migration, agriculture, industry, commerce and creativity in the kitchen.
(Pizza, pasta and red sauce: Italian or American). More Italians have migrated to the United States
than any other
Europeans. They had a long history of migrating to foreign countries as a way of coping with
poverty and dislocation. The earliest Italian immigrants to the United States were northern
Italians, who became prominent as fruit and food merchants in New York and wine growers in
California.

E J Gallo wineries: A case study
For the purposes of this case analysis of E. & J. Gallo Winery, the wine industry is composed of all
alcoholic beverages that contain between eight and twenty percent alcohol by volume. This
distinction is based on the assumption that beer and the typical malt liquor contain less than eight
percent alcohol by volume. The twenty percent limit is a result of state and federal tax and licensing
laws. The three top competitors that are identified in this case study are E. & J. Gallo, Canandaigua
and Mogen David.
This industry has seen very limited growth since 1986. Based on Exhibit 4 (C–271, the total wine
consumption in the US) and Exhibit 5 (C–271, per capita wine consumption in the US) the wine
industry is in the maturity stage. It could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although financial information is not available for all competitors, the top 3 competitors show a
discrepancy in production efficiency. This would lead the analysis to support the existence of other
significant factors influencing the value chain outside of production. These could be the cost of
supplies, distribution and marketing.
The learning curve does not appear to be a significant factor in this industry because the
winemaking industry has been around for a very long time. The industry competitors have years of
experience and low cost labor at their disposal.
The following analysis will use Porter's 5 Forces Model to identify the market power. The grape
growers are the suppliers, the winemakers are the sellers and the consumer is the buyer. This
discussion could also include the suppliers of raw materials for bottling the wine, the shipping
companies used to carry the wine to the point of sale and also the supermarket, liquor store and
restaurant owners where wine is often purchased by the consumer.
The power of the supplier is very low since grapes are a readily available product both in the US and
throughout the world. Most growers are also under contract with some of the major winemakers and
therefore they are bound by law to provide grapes of specific quality to the seller. Grapes are an
easily had agricultural commodity on the open market. This could change if the supply of grapes
decreased significantly due

The main characteristic to classify crystal or glass is the content of lend in the glass. Lead that in
crystal make its more easily cut and engraved are the presence of the lead soften the glass in crystal.
The lead also increases the weight of the crystal glass and light will diffract though the glass. For the
glass stemware has the lighter weight than crystal glass and light will not diffract though the glass.
Besides, lead has tendency to filter out the crystal from the lead glassware. Nowadays, crystal glass
is unleaded because its use barium carbonate and zinc and titanium oxides to displace the lead
oxide. Those glasses are similar properties as lead crystal such as temperature control. Unleaded
glass has lighter weight but its has the similar characteristic of refractive index with lead crystal. The
highest quality crystal glass can provide a better wine testing experience than glassware but the
higher cost of the glass are not attract customer to purchase it. Crystal glass is very fragile so

Examples Of Desserts
1 INTRODUCTION
Caitlin Hines discusses in her research "Rebaking the Pie: The Woman as Dessert Metaphor" that
there is "a consistent, widespread, generally unconscious and undocumented metaphor in English
equating women–as–sex–objects with desserts" (Hines 1999: 145). Women as dessert metaphor
functions both in linguistic expressions, such as tart and cookie, and in customs, for example women
jumping out of cakes (ibid: 145). Hines argues that the woman as dessert metaphor reduces women
to objects, sexualizes and belittles women, making women seem like powerless, inanimate objects.
Moreover, she makes a point that women are not just objects, but sweet, and not just desserts, but
pieces or slices. She uses Sally McConnell–Ginet's theory that ... Show more content on

Rihanna states that a man wants to "lick the icing off", using cake and eating as metaphors for sex.
Moreover, in the example 4, blowing candles out could be a metaphor for an orgasm.
Unlike Trey Songz and Rihanna's songs, Melanie Martinez's "Milk and Cookies" does not have any
sexual allusions. However, it still depicts the use of the woman as dessert metaphor:
(5) I'm fucking crazy, need my prescription filled Do you like my cookies? They're made just for
you A little bit of sugar, but lots of poison, too (Martinez 2015b)
As Caitlin Hines defines in her research, the woman as dessert metaphor reduces women to sinful
and decadent (1999: 148), which is shown in the example 5. In the example, the female singer is
offering her poisonous cookies to the receiver, making a connection with women and cookies. The
example could be interpreted in an abstract sense. The singer is sweet with "a little bit of sugar", but
also sinful: "but lots of poison, too".
R. Kelly's "Cookie" is filled with sexual allusions and is a metaphor for sex:

Descriptive Essay On The Creperie
A chalkboard caught my eye as a I strolled down the streets of Old Town Flagstaff. Scribbled in an
array of colors was a quote by Nelson Mandela– "No one is born hating another person because of
the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can
learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than
its opposite". It was sat in front of a little alcove of an eatery called The Creperie. Seeing the
establishment transported me back to the summer of my freshman year when I went to Paris with
my family and enjoyed artisan crepes in a little cafe near the Seine river. My stomach immediately
began to grumble just thinking about those crepes, and I decided then that I would try out The
Creperie. However, the service, food, and ambiance would need to be superb in order to match the
level of the authentic French cuisine that I've enjoyed. When I walked through the door, moreso
opening in the brick wall, of The Creperie, I was greeted with a warm smile by a middle aged
Hispanic woman. She asked me about my day, my studies at college, and how I enjoyed living in
Flagstaff. Though this may come across to most as normal niceties, she seemed to be genuinely
interested in what I had to say. Not being familiar with the menu items, I asked her which dessert

The Labrusca variety is the only local vines that they are easy to grow. However, it does not produce
good quality wine like the Europeans did. Sooner, government prohibition had forced wineries to
remove vines and to plan crops instead ("A Brief History of The Okanagan Wine Industry", 2014).
The prohibition was then abolished in 1921.
Commercial wine production was then re–established. The first commercial winemaker, Calona
Vineyards in Kelowna has established during 1935. It used Labrusca vines to create dessert and
fortified wines. During the 1960s, the wine industry moved away from fortified wines and focused
on hybrid grapes (Hickton, 2005). Drinkers were being more specific in wine drinking. They search
for wines that are suitable to drink and to pair with food. During the 1980s, winemakers believe that
they have to produce quality wine in order to enter the competitive market. They then started to
grow vinifera vines. From this point, the wine industry starts to grow and has been successful in the
last few decades.

The Life Of The Landscape Essay
The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi–
arid region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for
golden rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry looking
terrain were the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come as a
surprise, but Canada's only desert is home to a growing wine community with many award winning
wines being produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos.
As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater
lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries are now a
member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non–profit organization with a goal to
develop the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While driving
through the region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and learn about

We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting to
anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family owned
winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us, who
together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre–orchard in 1979 and planted their first vines
in 1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award

I want to own a confectionary shop because ever since when I was a child I've always wanted to eat sweets and candies that's why I decided to own a business related to it after I graduate into college, believing that it will really come to pass. When I was in the elementary, I have never liked anything that is inline about business. It was not my style at all. Growing up in Queens, I use to beg my parents to drive me over to Eddie 's sweet shop where I would watch the employees make the homemade ice cream from behind the counter and pour a giant helping of ice cream onto a metal dish. Now, years later, I have aged but Eddie 's Sweet Shop has remained the same. It 's location still hasn 't changed on Metropolitan Avenue in Queens, NY near the movie theater. The exact address of Eddie 's sweet shop is 10529 Metropolitan Avenue in Flushing, NY in the borough of Queens. Eddie 's Sweet Shop is about as Old Fashioned as you can get. How many restaurants have you heard of that can say they still make homemade ice cream? Eddie 's Sweet shop is a true classic and the customers who go to Eddie 's sweet shop always come back for its great taste. Even more memorable than the homemade ice cream and enormous scoops of ice cream that they give you is the hot fudge they pour onto your ice cream. The hot fudge is also homemade, as are all of the ingredients used at Eddie 's sweet shop. The ambiance is very unique and well represented of a little kids store with teddy bears and kids toys scattered by the window sills. • 7. The Italian Market: A Short Story When I woke up on the bus I could tell we weren't in Lancaster anymore. Arriving at Philadelphia seemed like we were farther than just an hour away. It seemed like we time traveled. The Italian Market looked like it didn't urbanize, only the surrounding community did. All around us were these tiny "mom and pop" stores. They had your traditional hanging signs with the stores' name. They didn't light up, rotate, or have many colors. The roads and streets were significantly smaller than the average. The sidewalks were packed with people selling things on stands and shoppers. The different aromas filled the air. The south 19th street was lined with different stores that appeared to be trapped in the early 20th century. Some of the stores have been there since the very beginning of the Italian Market. Instead of a giant grocery store in those times, you had to go to different stores that specialized in different things. Therefore as you walked down the street each store had a distinct aroma. If you didn't look at the sign, just by the smell you could tell what they sold. Everything was made fresh which made the smells so strong. Throughout the day we stopped at numerous places at the Italian market. The first stop was DiBruno Brothers. At the first glance, it seemed like your average delly that you can get meats and cheeses from. I was surprised by the arrange of things they sold, like century–old cheese and their history. Next stop was Cardenas Oil & Vinegar Taproom. I've been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. First Day On The Job First Day on the Job I've been employed in the fast food industry for just over three months now. That may not seem like very long to someone with years of experience under their belt, but I cannot stress enough how much these last few months have changed me. I've learned more about personal responsibility and independence at this job than I did during four years of high school. While the whole process has been meaningful to me, what really set it in motion was my first day behind the counter. My first day at a real job taught me that no one is going to hold your hand past high school, and that they shouldn't be expected to. I was given papers to study in advance, detailing the ingredients of the food we served and the methods behind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No request to add cheese or hold the sauce was missed in the chaos, and the food was quickly prepared and sent away to the right register. It was amazing, especially because our cook was also our manager. Between the meals she prepared, she also kept us all in order. Everyone else multitasked just as effectively. The supervisor who was training me was also working the drive through window. Everyone was racing around in their non–slip shoes, effectively juggling more balls than I even thought possible. I looked down at the rubber non–slip covers I had pulled over a worn–out pair of sneakers, and realized how temporary I was. If I couldn't keep up, I'd be handing in my shoe covers and going home before the dinner rush even started. I signed in, and it was time to find my place in the organized chaos. I met the supervisor responsible for training me by the drive through window, and between orders from customers she directed me to the "fountain" area, where drinks and desserts were prepared. It was hardly more than a corner, with sticky metal containers of fruit and candy flavors embedded in the counter. It faced a soda dispenser, and an ice cream dispenser that I was about to become very familiar with. My job for the day was to make drinks and desserts as they were ordered at the drive through window. Simple, right? On paper, it certainly seemed that way. I didn't even have to ring up the orders or begin to worry about how the food was made. But in practice, I was dropped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wine Food Charging If you're looking to hold a dinner party, whether for your friends, family or coworkers, and you plan on having wine with dinner, you should pay attention to wine food pairing. Certain wines are excellent with certain foods. This is most often seen in fine restaurants where menus will have wine recommendations next to certain food items. So if you want your dinner party to go on without a hitch and you want it to be unforgettable then choose your wines and foods according to wine food pairing and plan everything down to the minor detail. That should have people talking about your party for a long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nearly all wine goes great with cheese, for instance, which is why you usually see wine and cheese sold in the same locations in stores. Nevertheless, some wines don't go very well with certain foods. You can sample them to see which ones go with certain foods, which is very fun, or you can find a list that teaches you proper wine food pairing. Red wine is excellent with foods that include pasta and red sauce, such as Italian food. Red wine also goes great with beef and chocolate. Likewise, some red wines, such as Pinot noir, go great with pork. Considering there are a few types of red wine, you should do a little more research to determine if the food you plan on serving goes with the red wine food pairing. I already knew you were able to eat the crayons. My essential question for research was ¨How might I make edible and working crayon?¨ Researching my project was not the easiest thing to accomplish. First, I found as many websites as I could find about edible crayons. Then, I tried figuring out how to make the crayons and if they would actually work like real crayons. Once I figured out they would actually work like real crayons I got much more excited about the project. One problem I had was trying to figure out where I would find all of the things I need. At the beginning of my research, I wondered if edible and working crayons even existed. I discovered that edible and working crayons really do exist. I found a few websites involving edible crayons (Edible Crayons for Teacher Appreciation Week, msz.cookie) and I also found a video on how to make edible crayons (TheKarinaBear). In conclusion, I learned that it was possible to make edible and working crayons. Finally, I think the crayons will come out cool and be great! • 19. Ice Cream Sundae Introduction ATTENTION–GETTER: Can you describe the perfect cure for a blazing hot summer day? Upon hearing the phrase "so sinfully delicious," what sensations tend to stir within your body? Throughout America, a common response typically emerges: "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Introduce Self: Hi, my name is Maria Papadopoulos, and with summer rapidly approaching, there proves no greater treat than indulging in a home–made ice cream sundae. THESIS: In fact, by following three simple steps, one can concoct the perfect ice cream sundae. Main Point One: First of all, one must decide upon a base, a flavor that will accentuate the delightful taste of this treat. Main Point Two: Secondly, the smothering of a rich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... TRANSITION: Upon pouring a rich sauce over the ice cream base, one can then enjoy embellishing the sundae at the very top. III. As the finishing touches to the creation of an ice cream sundae, an individual must emphasize the extravagance of such a dessert through the application of tasty toppings. A. Part of the beauty of a sundae lies in the notion of its having no restraint, for embellishment options remain practically endless. 1. With its soft, dreamy peaks, whipped cream provides one with a fluffy effect. 2. At the same time, other toppings such as crushed oreos, sprinkles, nuts, and bright red maraschino cherries together complete the perfect ice cream sundae. B. Although it seems as if an ice cream sundae emerges as rather costly with its various toppings and other ingredients, a home–made sundae proves far less expensive than one from an actual ice cream store. 1. I would like you to listen to this figure from a USA Today article in July of 2001. The price of milk fat, which exists as the prime component of ice cream, has increased by nearly seventy percent! 2. Surely, even we can relate to this huge price increase here in Champaign–Urbana, for a cup of plain ice cream smaller than the size of my palm costs around two dollars at the Union. 3. For this very reason, it actually proves wise to create an ice cream sundae to one's own liking at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ancient Greek Food Ancient Greek Food Imagine yourself in a room with one of best cooks in all of Ancient Greece, you are watching him put in Bechamel Sauce, the Kalamata Olives, and Feta Cheese, you breathe in and smell the dish as it comes together. Then he pours in the best red wine in all of Ancient Greece, and lets his creation sit for forty five minutes. Now it is your turn to try the masterpiece. You feel as if your mouth has exploded with the best flavors you have ever tried. Soteriades the Sage was one of the most famous cooks in Ancient Greece. Legends say he served many kings and always had a new dish for each type of person he served, including the elderly, lovers, and philosophers. This is proven in my source "Greekalicious" a historical cookbook written by Maria Bernardis; "Who (Soteriades the Sage) claimed he prepared different dishes for different moods and ages." The Ancient Greeks had very similar culinary techniques as the modern day Greeks. The Greeks valued a variety of foods and plants and incorporated them in preparing some of their finest dishes, many that are still prepared and eaten today. Bread and wine were some of the most important ingredients to the Ancient Greeks. They ate bread with almost every meal. The Ancient Greeks most common breakfast was bread dipped in red wine with fruit. They also occasionally ate bread with lunch and dinner and often had it as a midnight snack. To support this, the Ancient Greeks drank wine with their breakfasts. As Jeffrey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Descriptive Essay About My Room My room has always been really basic. It didn't really have anything special. The bed was so uncomfortable that I hated to even look at it. The window didn't have any curtains, so I always woke up when the sun would shine through. There was a tiny nightstand to the left of the bed. There were carpeted floors that smelt horrible, and walls that were painted beige. There wasn't anything that stood out to me, which was the reason why I was ecstatic when HGTV chose me to have my room completely redone. The best part was that there was an unlimited budget. I decided that I would make it the best room in the universe, and it was going to have all kinds of things. I was very grateful that HGTV decided to choose me to be the lucky person who gets a branch new bedroom. I told the makers of the show that I was being featured in all kinds of things I would like to have in my bedroom. I wanted it to be the most unforgettable, phenomenal, and mesmerizing bedroom anybody would ever see. A few days later, the makers of the television show made me wait outside my house, while their employees put the final touches on the bedroom. Next, I walked down to my bedroom, while I was being filmed. I wasn't disappointed when I saw everything that they had done. The bedroom was better than I had expected. I walked into it and smelt a pumpkin scented candle, which I knew I would use frequently. It had tiled floors, which was much better than my carpeted floors. They gave me a brand–new bed to sleep ... • 29. The Eastern Slope Of The Mingus Mountain On the eastern slope of the Mingus Mountain in central Arizona sits the town of Jerome. Starting its life as a mining town in the late 1800's, Jerome, at one time, was known as the Wickedest Town in the West. Between its bars, brothels, and gambling establishments, Jerome became one of the one of the most accomplished locales in separating miners from their money. With the dawn of the 1900's, Jerome became more dignified with the establishment of churches, schools, and businesses catering to its growing population. It even had its own post office and five car dealerships. At its peak, Jerome boasted over 15,000 residents with 3000 miners employed in the town. By the 1950's, the local mining industry had all but collapsed and the population dwindled to about 100 people. The perseverance of the remaining residents to prevent Jerome from becoming just another ghost town, however, led to recognition of the town as a National Historic Site. Over the next couple decades, Jerome went from being a downward spiraling, abandoned mining town to a major central Arizona tourist destination. Today, Jerome is a tourist mecca with numerous restaurants, galleries, wine tasting rooms, and unique shops. A literal Ghost Town aspect of Jerome exists today in the form of local supernatural legends and ghost tours. With its proximity to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, and Interstate–17 and its unique shops and restaurants, Jerome is a must see destination when traveling in central Arizona. Where ... Gallo Winery Introduction The dessert wine industry realized huge success during the great depression years when buying regular wine was a luxury that few could afford. Characterized by its sweet taste, high alcohol content, and cheap price it was until the 80's an easy to buy alcoholic beverage that gave people with lower income the opportunity to have wine on their table. The 1980's was a decade of change in people's lifestyle with an emphasis on healthier habits and thus, consuming healthier products. This change, combined with an increased consciousness about society's moral obligations had a negative impact on dessert wine, since it was viewed as a cheap wine with higher alcohol content than regular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, despite the criticism, the company still produces and sells its signature type of dessert wines; Thunderbird and Night Train. Discussion According to the Wine Institute the dessert wine segment is 8% of the total U.S. wine sales, with Gallo controlling 16.1% of the segment (Wine Institute). The key success factors in the dessert wine segment have been the placement of this product. Supermarkets, corner liquor stores, and warehouse clubs all carry it. These wines were the beginning of Gallo and it was not until the late '70's that Gallo started producing premium wines and wine coolers. At first the premium wines were marketed without Gallo's name on them but as years have passed and Gallo's various premium wines have won major awards, the Gallo name became associated with the premium wines, and not the dessert wines. While there is not a strategic fit per se between the two there is an economy of scale present and both Gallo and the liquor distributors/ retailers benefit by the company offering a wide range of products, which helps with bracket buying, merchandise assistance, and signage. According to Times Magazine, Gallo's dessert wine accounts only for 3% of its total wine sales ever since the company transitioned to higher quality wine products (Times Magazine). However, dessert wines, despite the criticism they encounter, have a sweet and more palatable taste which allows for an easy entry for "new drinkers" to the wine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Essay About Syllabub Syllabub may be unknown to many into today's society, but during the 17th century and the early 20th century it was a dish regularly served. The first recorded reference to the dessert was in 1537 play where the character Thersytes declares that "You and I...muste walke to him and eate a solybubbe!" It has gone through minor changes along the way but it's original idea has remained the same. Originally milk was sweetened and mixed with cider sack and was left for days to curdle and treated as a drink that could be served either hot or cold. At the same time, a more solidified version was being created using cream, wine, and spirits. More recently, however, less alcohol and more cream is being used to produce the dessert so that it could stand in a cool place and remain delicious, soft, and fully whipped – this was known as an 'everlasting syllabub'. Sillie is the french word for sylla and comes from the Champagne region of France where wine got it's name, and the word bub is Elizabethan slang for a bubbling drink. When the two terms are put beside one another, "Sillabub" means wine mixed with a frothy cream. This dish is best when covered in tiny bubbles. • 60. E J Gallo wineries: A case study For the purposes of this case analysis of E. & J. Gallo Winery, the wine industry is composed of all alcoholic beverages that contain between eight and twenty percent alcohol by volume. This distinction is based on the assumption that beer and the typical malt liquor contain less than eight percent alcohol by volume. The twenty percent limit is a result of state and federal tax and licensing laws. The three top competitors that are identified in this case study are E. & J. Gallo, Canandaigua and Mogen David. This industry has seen very limited growth since 1986. Based on Exhibit 4 (C–271, the total wine consumption in the US) and Exhibit 5 (C–271, per capita wine consumption in the US) the wine industry is in the maturity stage. It could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although financial information is not available for all competitors, the top 3 competitors show a discrepancy in production efficiency. This would lead the analysis to support the existence of other significant factors influencing the value chain outside of production. These could be the cost of supplies, distribution and marketing. The learning curve does not appear to be a significant factor in this industry because the winemaking industry has been around for a very long time. The industry competitors have years of experience and low cost labor at their disposal. The following analysis will use Porter's 5 Forces Model to identify the market power. The grape growers are the suppliers, the winemakers are the sellers and the consumer is the buyer. This discussion could also include the suppliers of raw materials for bottling the wine, the shipping companies used to carry the wine to the point of sale and also the supermarket, liquor store and restaurant owners where wine is often purchased by the consumer. The power of the supplier is very low since grapes are a readily available product both in the US and throughout the world. Most growers are also under contract with some of the major winemakers and therefore they are bound by law to provide grapes of specific quality to the seller. Grapes are an easily had agricultural commodity on the open market. This could change if the supply of grapes decreased significantly due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the glass stemware has the lighter weight than crystal glass and light will not diffract though the glass. Besides, lead has tendency to filter out the crystal from the lead glassware. Nowadays, crystal glass is unleaded because its use barium carbonate and zinc and titanium oxides to displace the lead oxide. Those glasses are similar properties as lead crystal such as temperature control. Unleaded glass has lighter weight but its has the similar characteristic of refractive index with lead crystal. • 64. Examples Of Desserts 1 INTRODUCTION Caitlin Hines discusses in her research "Rebaking the Pie: The Woman as Dessert Metaphor" that there is "a consistent, widespread, generally unconscious and undocumented metaphor in English equating women–as–sex–objects with desserts" (Hines 1999: 145). Women as dessert metaphor functions both in linguistic expressions, such as tart and cookie, and in customs, for example women jumping out of cakes (ibid: 145). Hines argues that the woman as dessert metaphor reduces women to objects, sexualizes and belittles women, making women seem like powerless, inanimate objects. Moreover, she makes a point that women are not just objects, but sweet, and not just desserts, but pieces or slices. She uses Sally McConnell–Ginet's theory that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rihanna states that a man wants to "lick the icing off", using cake and eating as metaphors for sex. Moreover, in the example 4, blowing candles out could be a metaphor for an orgasm. Unlike Trey Songz and Rihanna's songs, Melanie Martinez's "Milk and Cookies" does not have any sexual allusions. However, it still depicts the use of the woman as dessert metaphor: (5) I'm fucking crazy, need my prescription filled Do you like my cookies? They're made just for you A little bit of sugar, but lots of poison, too (Martinez 2015b) As Caitlin Hines defines in her research, the woman as dessert metaphor reduces women to sinful and decadent (1999: 148), which is shown in the example 5. In the example, the female singer is offering her poisonous cookies to the receiver, making a connection with women and cookies. The example could be interpreted in an abstract sense. The singer is sweet with "a little bit of sugar", but also sinful: "but lots of poison, too". R. Kelly's "Cookie" is filled with sexual allusions and is a metaphor for sex: (6) You gon' wanna claim this dick, fuck with a nigga –– Mmm, like an Oreo I love to lick the middle like an Oreo (turn ... • 66. Descriptive Essay On The Creperie A chalkboard caught my eye as a I strolled down the streets of Old Town Flagstaff. Scribbled in an array of colors was a quote by Nelson Mandela– "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite". It was sat in front of a little alcove of an eatery called The Creperie. Seeing the establishment transported me back to the summer of my freshman year when I went to Paris with my family and enjoyed artisan crepes in a little cafe near the Seine river. My stomach immediately began to grumble just thinking about those crepes, and I decided then that I would try out The Creperie. However, the service, food, and ambiance would need to be superb in order to match the level of the authentic French cuisine that I've enjoyed. When I walked through the door, moreso opening in the brick wall, of The Creperie, I was greeted with a warm smile by a middle aged Hispanic woman. She asked me about my day, my studies at college, and how I enjoyed living in Flagstaff. Though this may come across to most as normal niceties, she seemed to be genuinely interested in what I had to say. Not being familiar with the menu items, I asked her which dessert crepe she preferred. This was met with her giving me different options for different taste preferences– Nutty Nana for those who enjoy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is located in the southern part of the province. It is the second largest wine region with approximately 4000 hectares of vineyards ("Okanagan Wine", n.d.). The region grows slight more red grapes compared to whites. According to a report by Bremmer (2014), white grape varieties represent 49%, whereas reds represents 51%. Some of the wines that are famous in this location include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. This location is also suitable to produce icewine every year despite of the excellent cold climate conditions that it has. Each region has different climate and therefore has slightly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Labrusca variety is the only local vines that they are easy to grow. However, it does not produce good quality wine like the Europeans did. Sooner, government prohibition had forced wineries to remove vines and to plan crops instead ("A Brief History of The Okanagan Wine Industry", 2014). The prohibition was then abolished in 1921. Commercial wine production was then re–established. The first commercial winemaker, Calona Vineyards in Kelowna has established during 1935. It used Labrusca vines to create dessert and fortified wines. During the 1960s, the wine industry moved away from fortified wines and focused on hybrid grapes (Hickton, 2005). Drinkers were being more specific in wine drinking. They search for wines that are suitable to drink and to pair with food. During the 1980s, winemakers believe that they have to produce quality wine in order to enter the competitive market. They then started to grow vinifera vines. From this point, the wine industry starts to grow and has been successful in the last few decades. 3. Appellation System The appellation system in the Okanagan Valley is called the BC VQA, which stands for British Columbia Vinters Quality Alliance. It is established in 1990. It guarantees origin and to ensure wines meet minimum quality requirements ("What is BC VQA?", n.d.). The wines are regulated under the Wines of Marked Quality Regulation in 2013. It is ... The perfect place is Margie's Candies it has so many choices of ice cream combos and many more desserts to choose from, and with homemade candy for more than 90 years. My first time there was with all my cousins and my sister. We did not know anything other than they sell ice cream. When we got to the location the first thing we saw is the line;the line at Margie's is so long usually because it is a really small place. But we had enough time. So we waited. Once we finally got seated, we began to order our food. My older cousin and my sister went first and he ordered a "Zombie" it is basically a root beer float... a jumbo root beer float. Though everyone always wants "some more" of the fireside dessert, they can leave behind a large mess; this is particularly true when young children eat the treats. The solution to this mess is to make "S'mores Dip," a dip that features all of the flavor of the s'more in a single dish that can be shared. A side benefit of the less–mess dip is that it can be made year–round, without a campfire. The dip also adds a peanut butter flavor to the treat, making it a recipe that everyone is sure to love. • 78. The Life Of The Landscape Essay The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi– arid region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for golden rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry looking terrain were the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come as a surprise, but Canada's only desert is home to a growing wine community with many award winning wines being produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos. As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries are now a member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non–profit organization with a goal to develop the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While driving through the region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and learn about their history. Stoneboat Vineyards We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting to anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family owned winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us, who together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre–orchard in 1979 and planted their first vines in 1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award ...
