Difference Between Private And Public Schools
Society was to be based on Egalitarianism (Shuker, 1987), but there is still a difference between private & public schools.
Two of top five reasons parents give for choosing a private school are :
пЃ±Small Class room Sizes
пЃ±More Individual attention (Kelly & Scafidi, 2013).
пЃ±In 2012, Education Minister, Hekia Parata, decided to increase
пЃ±the class size as quality of teaching mattered more because teacher quality is far more cost–effective than reducing class
пЃ±size ("Editorial: Size Matters,"2012).
пЃ±As a result of this decision there will be an increase of up to five extra students in a class – that has upset parents, teachers and others in the
education sector.
пЃ±Joelle Walker wrote if teachers are qualified and motivated to engage kids, class size does not matter (Fuatai, 2012).
пЃ±according to Alexander Forgie these changes were positive because there would be a standard for class size (Fuatai, 2012).
пЃ±Principals ' Federation president Paul Drummond argued and said that class size makes a big difference. A smaller class teacher are able to deal
with a more personalized program (Fuatai, 2012).
пЃ±NZEI president Ian Leckie said all parents knew that young children learn in a better way when they had better one–to–one time with teachers. So
how does a reduction in the number of and the creation of bigger class sizes result in better outcomes?(Law, and Hartevelt, 2012).
Critics of the changes to class sizes point out the National–led Government double standard

Benefits Of Private School Education
How important is it for you to provide this for underprivileged students?
It's huge for me to help all kids, kids are our future if we give them all the tools they can do anything they want in this world. For me, it's trying to put
kids in the right situation, and give them the opportunity to succeed in whatever field they choose.
Did you have many educational experiences such as the one that you're currently providing growing up in SC?
I went to a private high school, my parents received help from a lot of anonymous donors that I'm truly grateful for. It's cool that I'm in the position to
help kids do the same thing that was given to me.
How was the educational system for you growing up before you went to private school?
It was rough, I went to public school up into seventh grade my parents felt like private school was going to help me be a better leader so they stressed a
private school education. It was a dramatic change for me, but I needed it for college, and for after college.
What's the difference between Public and Private School?
It was different, in Public school you have everyone from your neighborhood, and the surrounding neighborhoods, it was fun, but going to private
school is different, you have all these types of kids from all over Charleston that were all about their education. It was a huge change for me and it
took me a while to adjust, but looking back it was the best decision that I made.

Prayer In Public School Vs. Private Schools And Public...
Prayer in school is a controversial topic of today's time. There are different pros and cons when it comes to bringing religion into schools. Varying
from state to state the court's perspective has played a major role in the decision of having prayer in schools, as well as the opinions of society.
Understanding that your personal opinion is not the same as everyone else's is important and others may have different point of views. The
controversial topics that give examples for each position allows you to realize whether you agree or disagree. You could start out with a set opinion
about it, but after reading the different sides and stories it may change your mind. There is a difference in public schools and private schools that
practice prayer in school. If you sign your child up for a private school and the handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you cannot later
go against it. Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything they say goes. Private schools are allowed more freedom and less
restriction on prayer in school. The students in a private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private schools are known as independent schools,
which means they are non governmental and not administered by local, state or national government. Students are allowed more freedom of religion
and allowed to express their religious beliefs more openly(Prayer in School Pros and Cons List, NYLN).

The government is the reason we have order, safety, schools, roads, and many more things that we don't think too much about in our everyday lives.
There are two branches of government the Democrats, and the Republicans. Our president, Donald Trump, is a republican. He believes in more
investment in our military than our schooling. We already took a pay cut in our schooling system because of that, and the money that is going towards
our schools are either going to public or private schools. But is it really necessary for the government to fund private schools when students already
have to pay tuition? The government should be funding more towards public schooling.
By funding private schools, what will happen to the public schools that rely on that money from the government to provide an education to the students
in their community? What if the public schools close, and the only other option that is reasonably close is a private school? A lot of people cannot afford
the tuition cost of private schools. The average cost of a private elementary school in Michigan is 9,000 dollars per year. When kids move up to
high school the cost jumps up to 13,500 dollars per year. (Average Private School Cost, 1) Most middle class families cannot afford the tuition, and
also any extracurricular activities such as volleyball, or track. The average person in Michigan makes about 73,000 dollars per year (pay scale, 1).

Abstract
In today's society, receiving a good education has become of the utter most importance. The real choice that is being faced now is what type of
schooling program kids should be sent to. Should it be private school, with smaller class sizes or public school, where the massive attendance count
tends to make kids learning last on the lists of priorities? The obvious choice should be where the kids have better opportunity to thrive, and this would
be at private schools. Since there is not an over whelming amount of kids in attendance there is not only greater opportunity to learn, but the children

The issue of where to send one's child for schooling has recently become a growing problem in not only America, but around the globe. Why should
parents send their children to a school they must pay extra for, when there are schools funded by the government and their taxes? Part of the answer to
this question can be found inside of the question: public schools are state funded. This means that schools will be littered with thousands of other
students, and not allow for enough focus on actually teaching the kids (West & Woessmann 2008). The reasoning behind this ties into the issue of over
population in schools that are unable to accommodate the growing number of college–bound individuals. The high influx of students causes the student
to teacher ratio to skyrocket through the roof (Chen 2011). It is shown that "proper student to teacher ratio count is about 12:1," however, in most
public schools Chen (2011) states that the more common ratio averages to about 45:1. A rising query of educators is what true problem is there with
having a higher ratio. Answering this questions requires a few things to be taken into consideration. In a classroom sized at forty–five students, at least
two will have an attention disorder, and three more will have a more prominent learning disability, such as "dyslexia" (Chen 2011). These specific

Essay On Public Schools Vs Private Schools
When raising children and sending them through a schooling system, many parents will take into consideration sending them to a private school,
because the believe that it will provide their child with a better education and leave them better prepared for the future. A better education comes at a
price, private schools have a high tuition and many parents do not know if it will be worth it in the end. While private schools and public schools both
have the same overall goal of educating young minds, their teaching methods and curriculum differ in many ways; furthermore, the results that the
schools see in their students are vastly different. One of the most prominent differences between private and public schools is the curriculum
regulations that they have to follow. Public schools have state regulations set for them that they have to follow that tell teachers what subjects to teach,
what books to have students read, and what tests to give their students. This includes teaching their students about the controversal theory of evolution.
Sara Vitaska, a policy specialist at NCSL, talks about the importance of the Monkey Trials which put evolution into schools curriculum and how, "That
historic ruling... subsequently paved the way for adopting new evolution–based science curriculum policies across the nation."( Vitaska 24). Private
schools, on the other hand, do not have to follow the state standards. This allows the private schools to create their own curriculum, which can

Private School Vouchers
I agree with Mark that vouchers divert public money to unaccountable private institutions, such as charter schools. Most private schools also have the
ability to deny admission and still be able to accept the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry–pick students, unlike public
schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in a dual parent household because they believe that those
parents are more likely to be involved in school activities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public schools that are
accountable and open for all people. Another reason why I dislike the voucher system is that vouchers do not actually improve opportunities for

Are Private Schools Better Than Public Schools?
Andrew Bates Ms.Weikle Pre–AICE Global Perspective September 20,2017 How should we deal with the problems in our education system? Are
private schools better than public schools? Private schools and public schools are very different in both education level and the way how they
function and operate. Private schools are known to be better but with the cost of money while public schools are free but require lower standards
to make a middle class and the poor people able to get education. Global Perspective On a global perspective America is making the learning
process geared toward itself which is making some countries not able to get better scores at the test that American's administer. This has made the
creation of private schools which are biased, only for the rich, and with their own agenda. Private schools are usually better than normal schools in
both staff and students because of the fact that they require money to be there. Doing this makes only the higher class of people able to send their
child to a good school around the world like in South Korea and the Netherlands. If countries around the world all had public schools people would
have been a lot dumber because there is very limited funding going toward them. Because of the fact that private schools are better than public schools
more and more rich people are going to them and funding them. If more and more public schools are destroyed, closed(due to funding),or forgotten

contrasts, economically, socially and geographically.Education is the action or process of impacting knowledge to another (Merriam Webster) with
trained teachers, good books, updated technology and a high–quality curriculum. The public schools are institutions open to all kinds of students
without monthly payments. For example, children with low income recourses, children with special needs (Handicapped, MR condition), aggressive
behavior, learning disabilities and most of the times these institutions accept children whose English is not their native language. Students wear
civilian cloths and they are not required to purchase any type of uniform. Most of the time parents do not have to pay for meals provided in schools
or pay for any extra class given by the school. However, several of the schools ask the parents to buy school supplies with the purpose of having a
productive school year.
Second, private schools are institutions which are managed with the money of those parents who can afford the high cost of each month. Parents not
only pay the high tuition fees but also should have to pay for school supplies, regular uniforms, sport uniforms, food provided inside of these

Difference Between Private School And Private Schools
There has always been a large debate between private and public schools. Even though this argument has been going on for a long time, no one can
seem to figure out which is the better choice. Some of the main things people tend to focus on when comparing and contrasting the two types of
schools are tuition, academic environment, curriculum, athletics, and how the students are disciplined. Each of these is equality important in their
own ways to people when choosing what school they think is best for them. The first topic, which is very important is tuition. Tuition is a crucial part
of making a decision for school because that's where the money comes in. Academics are also one of the main factors in choosing a school for a good
education is the whole reason why people usually attend a certain school. Next are athletics may not be the deciding factor, but for some people they
base the school they want to go to off of how well the school's athletics are doing. Lastly discipline is also sometimes considered because the possible
attendee might want to know how the students are punished. Out of all of these different topics to consider when choosing a private school education
comes out on top for all of these because of the smaller school environment and a more in depth attention to detail when dealing with students. Tuition
is a big factor when considering a school someone wants to go to. The main difference between public schools and private schools when it comes

children, not allowing them to reap the full benefits of their growing mind. "Our schools have been scientifically designed to prevent over–education

Additionally the student body as a whole is considerably smaller compared to the public sector, so the scholars have a healthier chance of getting
involved in student groups or other activities that will help them in the outside world. Not to mention there are less cliques around allowing the
majority of students to interact with each other with less judgment, which in turn helps administrate a better confidence level and learning environment
throughout the entire student body.
Private schools not only prepare the student for college course work and the corporate world, but they also give the student a choice between
specialized schools. This choice is convenient for several reasons. One of which involves the cost. There are varying amounts of cost depending on the
private school, but they also can work with you to allow your child to receive a better education. Another reason is that it helps the student to become
more active in determining their life. "The phrase 'school choice' covers a multitude of student assignment plans that vary significantly in
their...procedures. Their common denominator is that they encourage or require students and their families to become actively engaged in choosing
schools" (Cookson, Jr. 14).

The High End Private School Essay
The high end private school segment has great potential for success. Rancho Solano Preparatory School (RSPS) has had many successes, but also many
challenges on their journey to becoming one of the best private school options in Arizona. To continue success, Rancho Solano must make significant
investments and a commitment to change internally and externally. This can be achieved by focusing on improving some of the subsystems of the
organization as well as people involved operationally.
RSPS is made up of many subsystems working together to ensure continuous viability and growth. One of the major subsystems are the teachers, who
guide the students on a daily basis. Another is the curriculum of RSPS, which must be maintained at a high level to challenge and assist students with
their learning. Lastly, the administration, which monitors, maintains, and makes business decisions that affect every area of the school.
Subsystem in Need of a Change When the decision was made to close the Hillcrest campus in 2014, the timing of the announcement and handling of
the parents involved was less than ideal. With less than one year as RSPS administrator, Dr. Menard was ill equipped to handle the closing decision and
properly communicate with parents. This led to many students leaving the Meritas Family of Schools entirely and tarnishing Rancho Solano's image in
the community. Her systematic faults can be summarized by Allison Stanton's article which states "by remembering that

Private and public intuitions have been in the industry for many of years. Many people discuss wither private schools or public schools are
subsequently better investment to how students adapt and learn over years. These topics have been around for centuries. By looking back at articles
and information I can find the information needed to examine how private schools and public schools differ but in addition have similarities. Private
schools seem to have a reputation of having higher intelligence in certain aspects of life but for some that's not the case. In an article by the
Washington post they state "We found that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more advantages associated with
academic success–things like money and highly–educated parents–we find that public elementary schools are, on average, simply more effective at
teaching mathematics." (Strauss) This for instance, may be because private schools are more expensive then public schools. You have to pay
anywhere from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where for a public institution the costs are free. The cost is so expensive in the
private institutions that after students finish off school and receive their diplomas most families will struggle financially to send their children to higher
education due to all the money they were spending in previous years. "For example, private school students are more likely than their public school
counterparts to sit in rows,

differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families' needs. In this paper, I will compare and contrast five major areas that relate

Another difference among public and private schools is the curriculum. Public schools must follow the curriculum that is outlined by the state. The
state outlines a curriculum for each subject at each grade level (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The state also mandates the assessments for each grade level
(Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The curriculums are similar among different states in the hope that if a students moves mid year, they will remain on track
for their new school. Private schools have the ability to set their own curriculum. Private schools might advertise specialized curriculums in order to
entice students (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). For example, private schools that are religiously affiliated will have religious based classes in addition to
their basic curriculum. This is something that parents need to consider too. Also, private schools determine their own assessments and do not have to
participate in standardized testing. Special education services are another difference between private and public schools. Public schools follow state and
federal guidelines and therefore must follow the special education laws (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). All students can attend public school and

Private School Stereotypes
Stereotypes are like a type of infectious sickness that wears down a person's true character, and they produce a sort of blindness to characteristics that
are worthwhile. Stereotypes perpetuate false and unnecessary judgments, and they devalue humans. When people are placed in a group, they are
limited and marginalized by those making judgments. Any factors such as race, religion, gender, and personality can be the source of astereotype, so
anyone can become a victim. Stereotypes are conclusions drawn by people that are heavily influenced by peers, family, pre–existing knowledge, and
the media, and that too often become accepted societal biases. Historically, in the United States, stereotypes and stereotype threats have always existed,

The Differences Of A Private School Vs. Private Schools
Public school is a school that is maintained at public expense for the education of the children of a community that constitutes a part of a system of free
public education commonly including primary and secondary schools. On the other hand private school is a school founded, conducted, and
maintained by a private group rather than by the government, usually charging tuition and often following a particular philosophy, viewpoint, etc.
There are many differences between a Public School and a Private School, one difference is that in public schools teachers need to be certified but in
private schools they do not need it. Many public schools do a good job of preparing students for college, but some others do not prepare their students.
Private schools don't have to follow state laws about what to teach. They offer special programs. "There is no doubt that the recession makes public

There are many decisions for parents to choose private or public school for their kids. Every parent wants what is best for his or her child. A person's
education is one of the most important aspects in determining whether they will become a productive member of society. Education is so important. We

Private encourages strong quality teaching, encourages higher education learning, and inhibit the rampant of bullying.
People thinks that private schools are better and have more advantages than public school. There are upsides and downsides for both schools. Private
schools have newer facilities and other materials. The benefits of private school for the students are that they have smaller class sizes and better teacher

Discipline In Private Schools Essay
I am choosing to focus on a problem from within my work setting. The problem that I am focusing on is the lack of discipline in private schools. My
study was completed in the private school St. Peter's. I visited here for four hours. St. Peter's was founded by Mother Katharine Drexel in 1913 and the
school provides quality education to students of all faiths in a culturally, diverse Christian environment. I had a conversation with the employees there
and they shared with me things about both the school and church. The educational program encourages the growth and development of Catholic faith
and values, academic excellence and civic responsibility. The staff and students also ensured to express to me that they commit themselves to assist
families in fostering the spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical growth of the students. Teachers informed me that through a curriculum
rooted in gospel values, they strive to educate the students to take their places in the church and the society of the 21st century. The school service
grades Pre–K though Eighth and has 18 teachers that service 212 co–ed students. The question to be researched is: How is disciplined handled with
students that are enrolled in private schools.
Literature Review Private schools are not like public schools in this very important regard: students have rights in a public school; but they do not have
rights in a private school. They are governed by what is known as contract law. That contract which you signed with the school spells out all the
obligations of the parties to that contract. Somewhere buried in the fine print will be a statement to the effect that one of your child's obligations is to
abide by the rules and regulations of the school and its community as set forth in the school's handbook and elsewhere. According to the staff; the
school discipline policy reflects the ideals of the gospel, and helps the individual student be responsible and accountable for his/her actions. Approved
methods of correction include reminders, conferences with parents, withholding privileges, reparation for damages, detention, suspension, or expulsion.
They made sure to mention that corporal punishment is never permitted. Discipline

Becoming A Teacher At A Private School

Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process which has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one
includes, learning about the education system. Step two is to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for
someone who does not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case art. Step five, gain classroom
experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and
teaching contracts. Finally step ten, the first year of teaching.
The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference between them. When attempting to become a teacher at
a private school, it may not be required to have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local, federal and
state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools
when accepted and charged a tuition. On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows national and
state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. There is a limit for age, from kindergarten to twelfth grade; and when

Private Schools Vs Public Schools
An Introduction of the Topic
Private schools differ from public schools for many different reasons. The major difference is that the government, unlike private schools that are
privately funded, funds public schools. Another difference would be that the private schools have more flexibility on what they can teach because the
government does not fund them. One other difference that is very prevalent is the social goals of schooling. This topic is a very important issue that
many parents struggle with when trying to figure out which school is best for their children, and to the teachers who are trying to decide which school
to apply to. Because it is affecting the parents and the teachers, this influences everyone as a whole. Many of the differences between the school
systems are religion, sex education courses, nutrition, pay rates, and crime within a school system. These are a few of the topics that will be discussed
throughout this paper. Historical Overview
Private schools first became known about in the United States in the sixteenth century when catholic missionaries came to the New England colonies.
Later public schools were created around the early 1800's. People hoped to instill in their children moral and political values, and discipline. They
hoped by doing this that there was a possibility for a nation to be crime free. Horace Mann, an educational reformer, made multiple statements

Public schools have to meet curriculum requirements, but private schools can use their independence to embrace new teaching methods and expand
upon whichever subjects they need. For example, a private school may have a highly advanced medical program, which most public schools don't

towards specific religious beliefs" (Great Schools). In this way they provide better quality education because they are able to tailor their courses to
make learning more effective. Instruction meets students' specific needs. The material taught to them is more beneficial as it will relate to what they
want to study after high school or influence their career decisions. Private schools will teach students high moral standards (specifically if they are
religious schools) that will give students a more positive high school experience. Moreover, since they have control over who and how many students
attend their schools, private schools can have smaller classes for students.

Private School Vouchers Essay
"30 years ago, America was the leader in quantity and quality of high school diplomas. Today, our nation is ranked 36th in the world." (Coleman,
2013) In the United States, a debate continues about how to address the issues of the education system. Some conservatives think that it is beneficial to
take money away from public schools and provide students with private school vouchers so they can "choose" between private and public schools.
While most liberals believe that there is no real choice and that taxpayer money should go toward strengthening our current public schools. Although
some Americans see an advantage in the voucher program, I believe the U.S Government should eliminate them entirely because the system violates

Public schools are primarily supported by taxpayers. However, when a public school loses a student to a voucher program, it loses thousands of
dollars that help pay for teachers and classroom costs. In this way, school vouchers take money away from public schools in order to help students
compensate for the immense cost of private schools. Consequently, public schools suffer and are not able to provide quality services for their students.
Furthermore, school vouchers usually only cover the amount that a typical public school would receive per student. This comes out to around $10,000
to $12,000 per student. However, this amount is not enough to cover the tuition of most private schools. Many families feel stuck between paying for
the rest of the private school tuition and sending their children to a struggling public school that is now even worse off because funding is being
syphoned off for vouchers. For this reason, the "choice" that school vouchers give low–income families is only putting them at a disadvantage. Due to
the high cost of private schooling, one would think that student achievement would increase in this setting, however, this is not the case. An article

Pros And Cons Of Private Schools
Introduction
"Education inherently serves both public and private interests. It addresses public interests by preparing the young to assume adult roles that promote
civic responsibility, embrace a common set of economic and political values, and share a common language. Education serves private interests in
promoting individual development, understanding, and productivity that contribute to adult productivity and wellbeing." Levin (2001).
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" by Nelson Mandela (2013). Throughout the ages the essentiality of

Many people are biased either towards public schools or private schools. According to a 2009 poll, one out of four parents are currently considering
to switch their child's education from private to public or vice versa due to the economy (GreatSchools Staff, 2015). There are several advantages and
disadvantages of private school as compared to public school. One of the advantages of private schools is the smaller class size. Having less students in
a class allows the teacher to focus on each student individually. It also allows the teacher to be closer to the students and learn more about them,
therefore forming a bond between the teachers and students which makes learning more effective (Lawrence, 1997). Private schools also have better
access to educational technologies. An elite private school in Andover, United States called Philips Academy is one of the schools that uses a wide
range of educational technology. The school has launched an initiative to provide their students with a tablet computer in 2013, and they are integrating
software application into courses like computer science and statistics, this initiative also provide students the opportunity to access better

Private Schools vs. Public Schools Essay
Would you change your school? Would you go to a private school instead of a public school? Or to a public school instead of a private school? Private
and public education is different in many ways such as their performance, enrollment, and the overall education taught but yet they have somewhat
similar teachers.
Students' performance in public and private schools differ a lot. Private schools often have better grades and test scores. It is proven that kids who go to
a public school and attend a private school perform better (Williams 17). Student performance varies but the advantage would probably have to go to
the private schools.
Teachers in private and public schools are similar yet have some differences.

So, more than likely the way teachers are paid probably does not really affect the way they teach.
The enrollment in public and private schools is much different. The amount of kids in a school/classroom is going to effect the way the kids learn.
The less kids in a class probably the better their going to do. While the more kids enrolled in school the worse the kids are probably going to do. Public
schools usually have 300–599 students enroll (Klieg 22). They have an average of 527 kids per a school (Klieg 22). Where Private schools enroll
below 300 kids and have an average of 190 kids per a school (Klieg 22). Enrollment has gone up slowly with about 46.8 million kinds in public schools
and about 5.9 million kids in private schools (Klieg 21). The enrollment in schools will probably still continue to rise.
The overall education in both public and private schools could drastically be improved. There are many things that people could do to improve
education. For instance one way to improve private education is to make them have to take certain tests. As stated by Mary Williams "No State
requires private schools to take the same tests as public schools (Williams 62)." So therefore there is the public schools like in Missouri for example;
where they must take the MAP tests and such other tests, while the private schools are just sitting around doing the normal routine. No, these tests

Public Schools Vs. Private Schools
After having children many parents question which school system is better suited for their kids and which aspect is more important, convenience or
quality education? Some people believe the public schools provide the same education but at a lower cost. Tooley, Dixon, and Gomathi state "many
assume that private education is concerned only with serving the privileged, so is irrelevant to concerns about extending access to the poor."
Although there are some private schools that are expensive, most are affordable for lower income families. However, others feel that private schools
encourage a more advanced education because there are less students and smaller classrooms. I attended a private sector for five years in McAlester,

Private schools, unlike public schools, do not receive tax revenues. Therefore, they are not required to follow the same regulations and bureaucratic
processes that govern state–funded schools, which sometimes hinder the public system. According to Great Schools, "this allows many private schools
to be highly specialized, offering differentiated learning, advanced curriculum, or programs geared toward specific religious beliefs." While I was at
Lakewood the classroom size ranged from twenty–four to thirty students for each grade and the smaller rooms allowed more one–on–one time with the
teacher. The students were encouraged to reach out to the teacher when there was confusion over a topic discussed in class. Also if the student was not
progressing or making an initiative to study, the teacher would contact the parent/parents to create a plan that would help the learner. During my
elementary years, the private school also taught about manners, respect and Christian values. So when I moved to a different town, I was forced to go
to a public school in Ada. I learned very soon that the two school systems have extremely different methods of teaching. The teachers were sometimes
less willing to help the student succeed and most did not communicate well with my parents when I was having difficulty adjusting to a new school.
Another problem I noticed was the teachers did not try

The Pros And Cons Of Private Schools
Utilizing Private Schools Wreck Public Schools No one thinks twice about whether or not a child needs an education. As children grow, parents must
decide what route to take concerning education. The options include, but are not limited to, sending children to a private or a public school. Deciding
which type of schooling depends solely on personal preference. The argument 'If You Send Your Kid toPrivate School, You Are a Bad Person' by
Allison Benedikt, argued that sending children to private schools ultimately depletes actions to achieve what is best for the students. Although,
Benedikt's piece uses premises, and personal testimonies, overall the argument presented is lacking.
Premises
If this article was written correctly with factual information, the author would have done well with major premises followed by minor premises, but
the information given is biased. Parents will often send their children to private schools to make up for the poor education at the local public schools.
To make positive changes in public schools, parents need to send their children there. A premise the author stated "Parents have a lot of power"
(Benedikt, 2013) catches the attention of parent readers, evidence follows this premise from common, American human beliefs. It is well–known that
the parents of students have major influences on the way public school systems run. More challenging courses for advanced students, sometimes known
as enrichment programs are provided through money raised

Private School Vouchers Essay
Proposals to use private school vouchers, a marketplace strategy, as a mechanism by which to improve the general quality of public education have
produced a lively debate. Frequently, that debate has degenerated into a disagreement about whether public schools are as good as private schools or
whether a given private school is better than a certain neighborhood public school. Other issues raised in these discussions include the appropriate use
of public funds, the role of competition in improving public education, and the right of parents to choose a school for their children. Although these
issues are of interest, they are not the fundamental questions which must be raised about the future of public schools in a democracy. Two Core Issues...

The Thompson proposal for Wisconsin's schools embraces this belief system it is a denial of the fundamental role of public education in affirming the
public good.A second issue which remains unexamined in the rush to the marketplace concerns the claims offered in defense of private school choice.
Choice is offered as a "lesson learned" rather than a proposition to be examined. Advocates of private school choice have ignored its
history. Despite the claims made for a market–based school restructuring strategy, the history of choice does not support the claims of its proponents.A
Declaration of CrisisWillingness to abandon strong support for public schools and to turn to marketplace solutions is driven by a crisis rhetoric.
This rhetoric, which suggests that public education is failing, is not only misleading, it is dangerous because it may erode public confidence in the
very institutions on which our capacity for a democratic response depends.Criticism of public education has continued unabated since the publication of
A Nation At Risk in 1983. Stimulated in large part by new international economic realities, by a domestic economy based on traditional production
models, and by changing domestic demographics, the critics have sought solutions to these challenging problems by turning to schools and educators.
The data cited by critics of public schools were accepted at face value until the late 1980's. However, since

Homeschooling Vs. Private Schools
"Education, after all, is a process intended to produce a product. So we have to ask ourselves: What sort of product is being produced by the current
system?" (Prose 99). Education is something every parent wants for their child, but many parents are starting to question modern days public and
private school systems. Nowadays, there are many educational options for students. Homeschooling is an increasingly popular alternative to public and
private schools. Homeschooling has many advantages and disadvantages, but homeschooling is an option for students to benefit themselves individually.

Along with reasons one might choose homeschooling, there are deeper benefits that can enhance a student's education. One thing homeschooled
students do not have are classmates. In a public or private school there are around twenty–five to thirty–five kids in one class room. A large amount of
students of all different paces which can cause certain student's education to suffer. Ralph Waldo Emerson, a well accomplished essayist, gave a
speech to college graduates that would soon be teaching. Emerson said to them, "You have to work for large classes instead of individuals; you must
lower your flag and reef your sails to wait for the dull sailors..." (Emerson 105). By holding back a class for slow learners, students who learn quicker
loose interest. As a result of lost interest, such students start receiving poor grades. A homeschooled student has no classmates to hold them back from
learning. On the other hand, if a student grasps concepts slower than most, homeschooling offers more individualized help. A homeschooled student
has one teacher to their self or to share with any siblings, but not thirty–four completely different individuals. Carbajal said "If I need any help I can
spend as much time as I need..." (Carbajal). Carbajal has an advantage over public school students. She is the only student the teacher must care about,
therefore, Carbajal's teacher will spend as much time needed to help her understand something fully.

Private schools offer ample education opportunities. There are some factors to consider when choose a private school education over a public one.

potential, a wider range of opportunities, and a more rewarding career. The key decision remains between the choices of private or public institute to
pursue one's higher studies.
There are several reasons for choosing to enroll in private institutes owing to the following advantages. One of the most commonly stated factors is
smaller class sizes that ensure a greater degree of individual attention than in public institutes. The individual attention given, will help most of the
students to concentrate and gain more knowledge and have a better understanding about that subject. Another consideration is the higher level of
academic performance that private institutes expect from students. Most of the students work harder and acquire

Private Schools Vs. Public Schools
Education is a key component in our nation. People today might say that private schools are superior to public schools, saying that they are safer and
a better environment to learn in. Some might say that a private school is a way of sheltering your child and not letting them experience opportunities
and face many problems to learn from. There are many positives and negatives to both sides; it mainly depends on whom you are talking to. Some
parents might want their child to go to a private school because the class size is smaller and that their child will learn better that way. However, they
might also want their child to go to a private school because of the religious aspects. Many private schools have religious compliances, where as
public schools do not. Many people think that we have always had public schools, "Public education in America has a history dating back nearly to the
landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock in 1620" (Gina Diorio). The first public school was established in Boston. The largest reason why people
attend a public school is to save money since the government and taxes fund public schools. National Center for Education Statistics says, "Nearly 50

Private Schools Vs. Private School Education Essay
There's nothing a parent wants more for their child than to get a great education. The main thing they have to decide is if they want their child to go
to public or private school. Another thing to consider is, which type of school will provide the best education for their child. However, only some
families have this choice, and others don't. Families that aren't financially stable might not be able to afford a private school education, even if that's
what they would prefer for their children.
From previous experience, I feel as though private schools provide a better education. I do not feel it is fair to families, or children themselves, that
the cost for an opportunity to gain more knowledge at a faster pace is not available to everyone who would like to take advantage of it. As a child, I
was attending a catholic school up until the fifth grade. Once my mother and I moved to Maryland, we lived closer to a public school. At this time my
mother was single and did'nt have the funds to send me to a private/catholic school. When I was in catholic school, I had a lot more homework and
it was a bit of a challenge. Once I started going to public school everything that was being taught was a review for me. I continued going to public
school until I graduated and the work never seemed vigorous enough for it to benefit me or prepare me for college. From my personal experience, I feel
as though a private school education is necessary for children to be prepared for college,

Stereotypes Of Private School Students
I first became a private–schooler when I attended pre–school at age 4 and maintained this group until my senior year of high–school. Throughout my
twelve plus years of a private education, I have seen and heard nearly every stereotype, both complimentary and derogatory, accurate and erroneous, as
well as, prejudicial and supportive. Private schoolers are typified by false stereotypes just as any other minority group is. For example, private school
students are expected, by society as a whole, to be successful and intelligent by default. Yet, there are some stereotypes that hold true, such as the
majority of private school students hold academic achievement as paramount alongside respect and courteousness to others. Private school students are
generally students in a family with a high socioeconomic status and parents with a college education or higher. At large, society tends to typify private
school students as conceited, haughty, and arrogant. While this is true for some private school students, it does not describe the majority of students
of these students in an accurate light. I was placed in the private school environment by my parents at age 4, and by my own personal decision, I
decided to continue until university. This decision was made in order to raise me in a safer and more controlled setting, and personally, to remove as
many negative influences as possible.
Due to the frequent discussion of superiority between the two schooling methods, much research has been

A school is a that place which is designed to provide learning spaces as well as environments for the teaching of students under the direction of
teachers. Schools are the roots of every children in his/her life. With the help of school students grasps wide array of knowledge from school which is
beneficial for them in their future. However, some people argue that private schools are better over public school. From my point of view, private school
are better because it is enriched with academic opportunities, well qualify staff and extracurricular activities as compared to public School. Hence, I
agree with this statement that private schools are better than public schools.
The reason why private schools are better than public schools because it enriched with academics' opportunities to a great extend rather than public
schools. It is true that private schools have more rigorous academic programs such as Advanced Placement courses are commonly found in private
schools. There courses are not less than a boon for a student in their long run because it leads to a various kind of jobs from which they can easily

Public Schools vs. Private Schools
Everyone wants to provide their children with the best possible education. That being said there are things to consider before choosing to send your
child to a public school or private school. Perhaps doing so would be much easier if you would take the time to research the differences between the
two. Public schools are better than private schools because of the diversity, funding and extracurricular activities available.
Eileen Gale Kugler, a national advocate for diverse schools, wrote an article about how the diversity in schools makes academic and social
improvements. She recalls a memory about a meeting she had. "Parents of fourth and fifth graders were already putting up moving signs on their front
yards rather than risk sending their children to a high school that was not majority white. In an effort to debunk the myths, parent leaders from the high
school organized meetings in the local elementary and middle schools, bringing students, parents, and faculty from the high school to give testimony to
the positive academic and social environment. As the meeting opened to questions, a longtime real estate agent from the neighborhood stood up. His
own children had attended Annandale High 15 years earlier, when it was virtually all white. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about the changes in the
surrounding community, which now included an array of immigrants from every continent. "So, what you are telling me is that you are taking lemons
and making lemonade," he said.

Another issue is that the lack of variety could not be interesting to the student which causes them to lose focus. If the student is restricted to math,

everyone in their life. Students should not have a limited variety of opportunities that can help students reach their God–given potential. This is a major

In public schools, there is a lack of tolerance regarding such behavior of a non–disciplined student. For example, if the student does not follow the rules
or purposely misbehaves, the student will receive automatic consequences instead of a high toleration policy. This is because they go by a specific
standard and expectation for all students. The students must follow this procedure in order to meet such expectations by the school. If the student does
not adjust to these expectations, automatic consequences such as in–school suspension, out of school suspension, prohibited free time, lack of freedom,
or even expulsion. These are the requirements for agreeing to join a public school system. Private schools have a different way of disciplining their
students. Often times warnings are given, and the teachers give second or third chances. The discipline method is more of a hands–on and watched
over method where it is more of a one on one discipline. The teacher will be more gracious and accepting of such things, as they see it as a way to
teach the kids what is right and wrong. If a student is misbehaving, the teacher typically talks about what is wrong and what is expected. They spend
time doing this instead of teaching the student the curriculum. Eventually, this becomes unnecessary because the student should be able to have the
common sense to tell what is right and wrong. It may also feed into the student's' misbehavior

Around half millions of students study in private schools, which almost represents the fifth of students in Saudi Arabia. Although a lot of families
prefer to make their children study in private school, that does not mean they are completely satisfied about the schools' quality and their children'
achievement (Al–Hagbani, 2013). Nevertheless, they still enroll their children in private schools, believing they will benefit more from studying in
private schools than public schools. In addition, some parents believe that private schools are more flexible, have more educational activities and are
more conscientious of students' problems and needs (Al–Garieb, 2013). In a study aimed at exploring the reason behind the penchant towards private
schools, Bukhari and Randall (2009), after reviewing literatures about parents' choices, stated that parents tend to choose private schools over public
schools when they realize that their children's needs are not met in public schools. Many studies have been conducted in the educational field to
explore the differences between private and public schools. These studies were conducted in an attempt to find out which type of school is better.
Some of these studies focused on teaching quality such as a study conducted by McKinnon et al (2013), while others were a qualitative comparison,
such as a study conducted by Iqbal (2012). Since schools can help students create good study habits, some of the studies compared the study habits

Difference Between Private And Public Schools

  • 1. Difference Between Private And Public Schools Society was to be based on Egalitarianism (Shuker, 1987), but there is still a difference between private & public schools. Two of top five reasons parents give for choosing a private school are : пЃ±Small Class room Sizes пЃ±More Individual attention (Kelly & Scafidi, 2013). пЃ±In 2012, Education Minister, Hekia Parata, decided to increase пЃ±the class size as quality of teaching mattered more because teacher quality is far more cost–effective than reducing class пЃ±size ("Editorial: Size Matters,"2012). пЃ±As a result of this decision there will be an increase of up to five extra students in a class – that has upset parents, teachers and others in the education sector. пЃ±Joelle Walker wrote if teachers are qualified and motivated to engage kids, class size does not matter (Fuatai, 2012). пЃ±according to Alexander Forgie these changes were positive because there would be a standard for class size (Fuatai, 2012). пЃ±Principals ' Federation president Paul Drummond argued and said that class size makes a big difference. A smaller class teacher are able to deal with a more personalized program (Fuatai, 2012). пЃ±NZEI president Ian Leckie said all parents knew that young children learn in a better way when they had better one–to–one time with teachers. So how does a reduction in the number of and the creation of bigger class sizes result in better outcomes?(Law, and Hartevelt, 2012). • 2. Benefits Of Private School Education How important is it for you to provide this for underprivileged students? It's huge for me to help all kids, kids are our future if we give them all the tools they can do anything they want in this world. For me, it's trying to put kids in the right situation, and give them the opportunity to succeed in whatever field they choose. Did you have many educational experiences such as the one that you're currently providing growing up in SC? I went to a private high school, my parents received help from a lot of anonymous donors that I'm truly grateful for. It's cool that I'm in the position to help kids do the same thing that was given to me. How was the educational system for you growing up before you went to private school? It was rough, I went to public school up into seventh grade my parents felt like private school was going to help me be a better leader so they stressed a private school education. It was a dramatic change for me, but I needed it for college, and for after college. What's the difference between Public and Private School? It was different, in Public school you have everyone from your neighborhood, and the surrounding neighborhoods, it was fun, but going to private school is different, you have all these types of kids from all over Charleston that were all about their education. It was a huge change for me and it took me a while to adjust, but looking back it was the best decision that I made. Do you think that if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prayer In Public School Vs. Private Schools And Public... Prayer in school is a controversial topic of today's time. There are different pros and cons when it comes to bringing religion into schools. Varying from state to state the court's perspective has played a major role in the decision of having prayer in schools, as well as the opinions of society. Understanding that your personal opinion is not the same as everyone else's is important and others may have different point of views. The controversial topics that give examples for each position allows you to realize whether you agree or disagree. You could start out with a set opinion about it, but after reading the different sides and stories it may change your mind. There is a difference in public schools and private schools that practice prayer in school. If you sign your child up for a private school and the handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you cannot later go against it. Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything they say goes. Private schools are allowed more freedom and less restriction on prayer in school. The students in a private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private schools are known as independent schools, which means they are non governmental and not administered by local, state or national government. Students are allowed more freedom of religion and allowed to express their religious beliefs more openly(Prayer in School Pros and Cons List, NYLN). Public schools are ran and funded by the ... • 4. Private Schools And Public Schools Brooke Ward Mr. Falor Gov/Econ 9–28–17 The government is the reason we have order, safety, schools, roads, and many more things that we don't think too much about in our everyday lives. There are two branches of government the Democrats, and the Republicans. Our president, Donald Trump, is a republican. He believes in more investment in our military than our schooling. We already took a pay cut in our schooling system because of that, and the money that is going towards our schools are either going to public or private schools. But is it really necessary for the government to fund private schools when students already have to pay tuition? The government should be funding more towards public schooling. By funding private schools, what will happen to the public schools that rely on that money from the government to provide an education to the students in their community? What if the public schools close, and the only other option that is reasonably close is a private school? A lot of people cannot afford the tuition cost of private schools. The average cost of a private elementary school in Michigan is 9,000 dollars per year. When kids move up to high school the cost jumps up to 13,500 dollars per year. (Average Private School Cost, 1) Most middle class families cannot afford the tuition, and also any extracurricular activities such as volleyball, or track. The average person in Michigan makes about 73,000 dollars per year (pay scale, 1). Depending on how many kids ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Private Or Public School? Private or Public School? Adrianna N. Pillow Professor SooHoo–Hui February 15, 2015 California Baptist University Abstract In today's society, receiving a good education has become of the utter most importance. The real choice that is being faced now is what type of schooling program kids should be sent to. Should it be private school, with smaller class sizes or public school, where the massive attendance count tends to make kids learning last on the lists of priorities? The obvious choice should be where the kids have better opportunity to thrive, and this would be at private schools. Since there is not an over whelming amount of kids in attendance there is not only greater opportunity to learn, but the children are what comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue of where to send one's child for schooling has recently become a growing problem in not only America, but around the globe. Why should parents send their children to a school they must pay extra for, when there are schools funded by the government and their taxes? Part of the answer to this question can be found inside of the question: public schools are state funded. This means that schools will be littered with thousands of other students, and not allow for enough focus on actually teaching the kids (West & Woessmann 2008). The reasoning behind this ties into the issue of over population in schools that are unable to accommodate the growing number of college–bound individuals. The high influx of students causes the student to teacher ratio to skyrocket through the roof (Chen 2011). It is shown that "proper student to teacher ratio count is about 12:1," however, in most public schools Chen (2011) states that the more common ratio averages to about 45:1. A rising query of educators is what true problem is there with having a higher ratio. Answering this questions requires a few things to be taken into consideration. In a classroom sized at forty–five students, at least two will have an attention disorder, and three more will have a more prominent learning disability, such as "dyslexia" (Chen 2011). • 8. Essay On Public Schools Vs Private Schools When raising children and sending them through a schooling system, many parents will take into consideration sending them to a private school, because the believe that it will provide their child with a better education and leave them better prepared for the future. A better education comes at a price, private schools have a high tuition and many parents do not know if it will be worth it in the end. While private schools and public schools both have the same overall goal of educating young minds, their teaching methods and curriculum differ in many ways; furthermore, the results that the schools see in their students are vastly different. One of the most prominent differences between private and public schools is the curriculum regulations that they have to follow. Public schools have state regulations set for them that they have to follow that tell teachers what subjects to teach, what books to have students read, and what tests to give their students. This includes teaching their students about the controversal theory of evolution. Sara Vitaska, a policy specialist at NCSL, talks about the importance of the Monkey Trials which put evolution into schools curriculum and how, "That historic ruling... subsequently paved the way for adopting new evolution–based science curriculum policies across the nation."( Vitaska 24). Private schools, on the other hand, do not have to follow the state standards. This allows the private schools to create their own curriculum, which can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Private School Vouchers I agree with Mark that vouchers divert public money to unaccountable private institutions, such as charter schools. Most private schools also have the ability to deny admission and still be able to accept the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry–pick students, unlike public schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in a dual parent household because they believe that those parents are more likely to be involved in school activities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public schools that are accountable and open for all people. Another reason why I dislike the voucher system is that vouchers do not actually improve opportunities for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Are Private Schools Better Than Public Schools? Andrew Bates Ms.Weikle Pre–AICE Global Perspective September 20,2017 How should we deal with the problems in our education system? Are private schools better than public schools? Private schools and public schools are very different in both education level and the way how they function and operate. Private schools are known to be better but with the cost of money while public schools are free but require lower standards to make a middle class and the poor people able to get education. Global Perspective On a global perspective America is making the learning process geared toward itself which is making some countries not able to get better scores at the test that American's administer. This has made the creation of private schools which are biased, only for the rich, and with their own agenda. Private schools are usually better than normal schools in both staff and students because of the fact that they require money to be there. Doing this makes only the higher class of people able to send their child to a good school around the world like in South Korea and the Netherlands. If countries around the world all had public schools people would have been a lot dumber because there is very limited funding going toward them. Because of the fact that private schools are better than public schools more and more rich people are going to them and funding them. If more and more public schools are destroyed, closed(due to funding),or forgotten about this may create a problem of limited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Difference Between Private And Private Schools Central Catholic school, Columbian Christian school, Jim Bridger school and David Douglas School. So many different schools. How does a parent choose? Education is undoubtedly is an issue with different opinions when deciding between private and public schools. Our country is a country of contrasts, economically, socially and geographically.Education is the action or process of impacting knowledge to another (Merriam Webster) with trained teachers, good books, updated technology and a high–quality curriculum. The public schools are institutions open to all kinds of students without monthly payments. For example, children with low income recourses, children with special needs (Handicapped, MR condition), aggressive behavior, learning disabilities and most of the times these institutions accept children whose English is not their native language. Students wear civilian cloths and they are not required to purchase any type of uniform. Most of the time parents do not have to pay for meals provided in schools or pay for any extra class given by the school. However, several of the schools ask the parents to buy school supplies with the purpose of having a productive school year. Second, private schools are institutions which are managed with the money of those parents who can afford the high cost of each month. • 12. Difference Between Private School And Private Schools There has always been a large debate between private and public schools. Even though this argument has been going on for a long time, no one can seem to figure out which is the better choice. Some of the main things people tend to focus on when comparing and contrasting the two types of schools are tuition, academic environment, curriculum, athletics, and how the students are disciplined. Each of these is equality important in their own ways to people when choosing what school they think is best for them. The first topic, which is very important is tuition. Tuition is a crucial part of making a decision for school because that's where the money comes in. Academics are also one of the main factors in choosing a school for a good education is the whole reason why people usually attend a certain school. Next are athletics may not be the deciding factor, but for some people they base the school they want to go to off of how well the school's athletics are doing. Lastly discipline is also sometimes considered because the possible attendee might want to know how the students are punished. Out of all of these different topics to consider when choosing a private school education comes out on top for all of these because of the smaller school environment and a more in depth attention to detail when dealing with students. Think back and compare it to your ideal public school, which one happens to pale in comparison? Public schools, which are controlled by the government, and heavily influenced, by politicians and privateers, hurt your children, not allowing them to reap the full benefits of their growing mind. "Our schools have been scientifically designed to prevent over–education from happening. The average American [should be] content with their humble role in life, because they are not tempted to think about any other role." (William T. Harris, U.S. Commissioner of Education 1889–1906) Why leave the future leaders of tomorrow in a place like this, when there is a better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally the student body as a whole is considerably smaller compared to the public sector, so the scholars have a healthier chance of getting involved in student groups or other activities that will help them in the outside world. Not to mention there are less cliques around allowing the majority of students to interact with each other with less judgment, which in turn helps administrate a better confidence level and learning environment throughout the entire student body. Private schools not only prepare the student for college course work and the corporate world, but they also give the student a choice between specialized schools. This choice is convenient for several reasons. One of which involves the cost. There are varying amounts of cost depending on the private school, but they also can work with you to allow your child to receive a better education. Another reason is that it helps the student to become more active in determining their life. "The phrase 'school choice' covers a multitude of student assignment plans that vary significantly in their...procedures. Their common denominator is that they encourage or require students and their families to become actively engaged in choosing schools" (Cookson, Jr. 14). • 14. The High End Private School Essay The high end private school segment has great potential for success. Rancho Solano Preparatory School (RSPS) has had many successes, but also many challenges on their journey to becoming one of the best private school options in Arizona. To continue success, Rancho Solano must make significant investments and a commitment to change internally and externally. This can be achieved by focusing on improving some of the subsystems of the organization as well as people involved operationally. RSPS is made up of many subsystems working together to ensure continuous viability and growth. One of the major subsystems are the teachers, who guide the students on a daily basis. Another is the curriculum of RSPS, which must be maintained at a high level to challenge and assist students with their learning. Lastly, the administration, which monitors, maintains, and makes business decisions that affect every area of the school. Subsystem in Need of a Change When the decision was made to close the Hillcrest campus in 2014, the timing of the announcement and handling of the parents involved was less than ideal. With less than one year as RSPS administrator, Dr. Menard was ill equipped to handle the closing decision and properly communicate with parents. This led to many students leaving the Meritas Family of Schools entirely and tarnishing Rancho Solano's image in the community. Her systematic faults can be summarized by Allison Stanton's article which states "by remembering that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Private Schools Vs. Public Schools Private and public intuitions have been in the industry for many of years. Many people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how students adapt and learn over years. These topics have been around for centuries. By looking back at articles and information I can find the information needed to examine how private schools and public schools differ but in addition have similarities. Private schools seem to have a reputation of having higher intelligence in certain aspects of life but for some that's not the case. In an article by the Washington post they state "We found that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more advantages associated with academic success–things like money and highly–educated parents–we find that public elementary schools are, on average, simply more effective at teaching mathematics." (Strauss) This for instance, may be because private schools are more expensive then public schools. You have to pay anywhere from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where for a public institution the costs are free. The cost is so expensive in the private institutions that after students finish off school and receive their diplomas most families will struggle financially to send their children to higher education due to all the money they were spending in previous years. "For example, private school students are more likely than their public school counterparts to sit in rows, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Public Schools vs. Private Schools Essay Public Schools vs. Private Schools A good education is an essential part of a child's development. Today, parents have a choice in their child's education and can evaluate both public and private schools. Although both public and private schools provide education and opportunities for students, parents should evaluate the differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families' needs. In this paper, I will compare and contrast five major areas that relate to public and private schools including class size, cost, curriculum, services, and teachers. The state outlines a curriculum for each subject at each grade level (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The state also mandates the assessments for each grade level (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The curriculums are similar among different states in the hope that if a students moves mid year, they will remain on track for their new school. Private schools have the ability to set their own curriculum. Private schools might advertise specialized curriculums in order to entice students (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). For example, private schools that are religiously affiliated will have religious based classes in addition to their basic curriculum. This is something that parents need to consider too. Also, private schools determine their own assessments and do not have to participate in standardized testing. Special education services are another difference between private and public schools. Private School Stereotypes Stereotypes are like a type of infectious sickness that wears down a person's true character, and they produce a sort of blindness to characteristics that are worthwhile. Stereotypes perpetuate false and unnecessary judgments, and they devalue humans. When people are placed in a group, they are limited and marginalized by those making judgments. Any factors such as race, religion, gender, and personality can be the source of astereotype, so anyone can become a victim. • 18. The Differences Of A Private School Vs. Private Schools Public school is a school that is maintained at public expense for the education of the children of a community that constitutes a part of a system of free public education commonly including primary and secondary schools. On the other hand private school is a school founded, conducted, and maintained by a private group rather than by the government, usually charging tuition and often following a particular philosophy, viewpoint, etc. There are many differences between a Public School and a Private School, one difference is that in public schools teachers need to be certified but in private schools they do not need it. Many public schools do a good job of preparing students for college, but some others do not prepare their students. Private schools don't have to follow state laws about what to teach. • 20. Discipline In Private Schools Essay I am choosing to focus on a problem from within my work setting. The problem that I am focusing on is the lack of discipline in private schools. My study was completed in the private school St. Peter's. I visited here for four hours. St. Peter's was founded by Mother Katharine Drexel in 1913 and the school provides quality education to students of all faiths in a culturally, diverse Christian environment. I had a conversation with the employees there and they shared with me things about both the school and church. The educational program encourages the growth and development of Catholic faith and values, academic excellence and civic responsibility. The staff and students also ensured to express to me that they commit themselves to assist families in fostering the spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical growth of the students. Teachers informed me that through a curriculum rooted in gospel values, they strive to educate the students to take their places in the church and the society of the 21st century. The school service grades Pre–K though Eighth and has 18 teachers that service 212 co–ed students. The question to be researched is: How is disciplined handled with students that are enrolled in private schools. Literature Review Private schools are not like public schools in this very important regard: students have rights in a public school; but they do not have rights in a private school. They are governed by what is known as contract law. That contract which you signed with the school spells out all the obligations of the parties to that contract. Somewhere buried in the fine print will be a statement to the effect that one of your child's obligations is to abide by the rules and regulations of the school and its community as set forth in the school's handbook and elsewhere. According to the staff; the school discipline policy reflects the ideals of the gospel, and helps the individual student be responsible and accountable for his/her actions. Approved methods of correction include reminders, conferences with parents, withholding privileges, reparation for damages, detention, suspension, or expulsion. They made sure to mention that corporal punishment is never permitted. Discipline ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Becoming A Teacher At A Private School . Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process which has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one includes, learning about the education system. Step two is to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for someone who does not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and teaching contracts. Finally step ten, the first year of teaching. The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local, federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a tuition. On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. • 22. Private Schools Vs Public Schools An Introduction of the Topic Private schools differ from public schools for many different reasons. The major difference is that the government, unlike private schools that are privately funded, funds public schools. Another difference would be that the private schools have more flexibility on what they can teach because the government does not fund them. One other difference that is very prevalent is the social goals of schooling. This topic is a very important issue that many parents struggle with when trying to figure out which school is best for their children, and to the teachers who are trying to decide which school to apply to. Because it is affecting the parents and the teachers, this influences everyone as a whole. Many of the differences between the school systems are religion, sex education courses, nutrition, pay rates, and crime within a school system. These are a few of the topics that will be discussed throughout this paper. Historical Overview Private schools first became known about in the United States in the sixteenth century when catholic missionaries came to the New England colonies. Later public schools were created around the early 1800's. People hoped to instill in their children moral and political values, and discipline. They hoped by doing this that there was a possibility for a nation to be crime free. Horace Mann, an educational reformer, made multiple statements involving social control and issues. (Coleman, 2013) In the United States, a debate continues about how to address the issues of the education system. Some conservatives think that it is beneficial to take money away from public schools and provide students with private school vouchers so they can "choose" between private and public schools. However, when a public school loses a student to a voucher program, it loses thousands of dollars that help pay for teachers and classroom costs. In this way, school vouchers take money away from public schools in order to help students compensate for the immense cost of private schools. Consequently, public schools suffer and are not able to provide quality services for their students. Furthermore, school vouchers usually only cover the amount that a typical public school would receive per student. This comes out to around $10,000 to $12,000 per student. However, this amount is not enough to cover the tuition of most private schools. Many families feel stuck between paying for the rest of the private school tuition and sending their children to a struggling public school that is now even worse off because funding is being syphoned off for vouchers. For this reason, the "choice" that school vouchers give low–income families is only putting them at a disadvantage. Due to the high cost of private schooling, one would think that student achievement would increase in this setting, however, this is not the case. An article from Brookings.edu states claims ... Public schools are better than private schools because of the diversity, funding and extracurricular activities available. Eileen Gale Kugler, a national advocate for diverse schools, wrote an article about how the diversity in schools makes academic and social improvements. She recalls a memory about a meeting she had. "Parents of fourth and fifth graders were already putting up moving signs on their front yards rather than risk sending their children to a high school that was not majority white. In an effort to debunk the myths, parent leaders from the high school organized meetings in the local elementary and middle schools, bringing students, parents, and faculty from the high school to give testimony to the positive academic and social environment. As the meeting opened to questions, a longtime real estate agent from the neighborhood stood up. His own children had attended Annandale High 15 years earlier, when it was virtually all white.
