Longer School Day
Extending the school day by an hour would require students to take additional courses to fill the time. At SWHS, we go from 4 classes a day to
potentially 5 or 6 classes a day. With more classes, students will now have to prepare for multiple exams per day. In the worst case scenario, students
might have as many as 6 tests in one day! These many tests are bound to stress students to the point of exhaustion. For example, Jess Jones might have
an AP History test for first period, a geometry test for third period, and a Business Essentials test during 6th period. Jess Jones, being an honors student,
will have spent 4–6 hours studying the night before and did not get the recommended 7–8 hours of sleep. On test day, Jess Jones is moving sluggisly,
has the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the current schedule many parents make doctor's appointments right after school around 3:30 or 4:00 o'clock. However, if school were to end at
4:15 many parents would have to reschedule appointments throughout the school day which would take away from learning. For athletes, a
longer school day would be even more chaotic. Most practices start immediately after school from 3:30 and last until 5:30 and sometimes practice
runs as late as 6:00. These athletes would not get home until 6:30 and will be starving! Most importantly, students with jobs will lose hours and
money. For instance, many seniors currently work from 3:30 to 8:30 every night. They make $8 an hour which would earn them $40 a night. If
they work 5 days a week that would give that senior $200. However, if the school day were to end at 4:15, instead of working 5 hours a night it would
force them to only be able to work 4 hours a night. This would lead to a $40 pay cut in 1 week and $160 pay cut per month! How would you feel if
you had to miss school time because of doctor's appointments, have to practice later into the night, miss dinner, and lose out on job

Shorter School Days
A small portion of us that controls a whole lot is the brain. Recent research indicates that the teenage brain is not fully developed or matured until a
person is in their twenties. Therefore even if the teenage brain is not fully developed, lenghtening the school day will not better test scores. Some
people like Barack Obama argue that U.S. students are farther behind acedemically than other countries. As a solution Obama suggests to lenghten the
school day to increase test scores in America, but research indicates otherwise. The phrase quality over quantity rebutes president Obama's decision to
increase school days . In the quote "If the teaching methods used currently are not working, spending time using those same methods is not going to
change anything... plus other countries who students score higher than U.S. students actually have shorter school days than U.S. schools currently
have" (education.seattlepi.com). In short extending the school day does not always garuntee higher test results, but quality of ... Show more content on

Refer to the phrase in paragraph one, the quality is better than quantity. In the quote " a researcher in Germany found that a shorter time in school did
not affect average students' learning of material in the core academic subjects"(poynter.org). This quote further proves that extending the school day
is unnecissary because it does not affect the learning in core academics. In conclusion extending the school day will not increase test scores. Third,
expanding the school day costs a lot of money. In the quote "If the proposals were approved they would add two million dollars to a proposed
budget of 210 million dollars" (washingtonpost.com). This quote further proves that the school day should not be extended because it costs a lot more
money that people would have to pay. In conclusion the school day should not be expanded because it cost a lot of

My First Day Of School
I walked through the door on the first day of school, everybody turned and looked at me "Hey Jordyn!" everyone said. I waved. *BEEP BEEP
BEEP*In my dreams. I had always wanted to be popular I don't know why but I always had. I slammed my hand on the snooze button. I climbed out of
bed and opened my dresser. Pulled out a pair of leggings and a short floral dress. I went down stair following the smell of waffles. "Morning Jordyn!"
My mom said placing a plate on the table. "Hi Mom!" I sat down and cut my waffle into little pieces. First day of 8th grade. My brother walked
down the stair, he looked like he just got up from sleeping for about 500 years. "Morning Ryan" I say he says nothing and just starts shoving waffle
into his mouth. I walked to the bathroom. and just looked at myself in the mirror. My phone rang, It was Reagan. My best friend of all times. "Hey
Girl!" I said into the phone all I heard was little sheek. "OMG!!! Hi! I can't wait!" She screamed into the phone I walked out of the bathroom. "Bye
mom!" I said slipping on my shoes and walking out the door, "Bye sweetie have a good day at school!" I slammed the door and walked to the bus stop
still talking to Reagan. My life was going perfectly. Once I got to the bus stop I saw him. The only one I have ever loved. Hunter Mayberry. His icy
blue eyes looked at me. He smiled. "Hey Jordyn!" Oh my gosh!!! HE WAS WALKING OVER TO ME! I could barely breathe, "How was your
summer?" He asked flashing his stunning

The First Day Of School
The first day of school has the major influence on the way an individual will eventually turn out in the future. Many actions have occurred in my
life long ago, some fail to recall, and some I still clearly remember. I was going into my first school in America. I had moved from Kenya, a long
distance from the USA in order to link with my family, who had been here for almost 4 years, expecting America would help my future. My father
told me It would be better if I go to school here, so I registered in the local high school in my city. I was frightened how I would do in school as I
have never been to school in the US before. First, I met new people with different cultures, second it was a whole new experience for me in which
success depended on me, and third it was the first day that I went to school in the US. Finally, I won't forget it very easily because lots of things were
accomplished in my first day at school.
On the first day, I went to my following period after I had missed my first period because I came to school late and also I was looking for my first
period class. I was already confused because in Kenya the teachers shift according to periods although most of the students have the same periods. In
Kenya you stay in one classroom and the teacher will come to you in the class, they do not have special classrooms. With nervousness on one hand
and fear on the other, I reached for the door handle of my second class, opening it bit by bit. As I enter it the classroom

Kindergarten
It was a good day, I stood in front of the door so I could be picked up by my mom. There was a kid, James, he was much taller than me at the time,
most people were taller than me, but I didn't mind. James came down the hallway and was staring straight at me with a devilish look in his eyes
and a smirk on his face. I was holding a couple of picture books that we had to bring that day, I really enjoyed reading them. He was approaching me,
I didn't think anything of it, all I was doing was minding my own business. He stood in front of me with his back straight and he was staring into me,
like he was establishing dominance, like a lion in the jungle. In one quick motion he snatched all of my picture books straight out of my hands, I
stood there speechless, I hated confrontation. Then he held those books over me to the point where I couldn't reach them. I jumped and jumped but I
couldn't reach those books, I repeatedly said "Give them back!" and he responded with "Just take them then", he knew I couldn't.. By then a teacher
saw us and reclaimed my books from James, but I was already in tears. I spent the rest of the day sobbing and trying to understand how someone could
be so heartless.

First day of school, lunchtime rush, who do I sit with, who can I sit with, too late. The tables were full, I was already in a terrible situation and it's

My First Day Of New School
My legs started to tremble as I took my first step into the noisy classroom. The moment I walked in the entire class immediately became extremely
quiet. First day of new school is always the hardest, but for me it was a bit different; it wasn't only a new school but was also a new language a,
new country, different races and a total different environment. I couldn't even say a sentence properly in English, but the worst of it all was the
people surrounding me had made me feel like I didn't exist or as if I didn't belong among anywhere. I was good in every other subject besides English
but that hadn't mattered because everything revolved around English. As weeks passed by my worked harder days and nights trying to improve my
English, I watched movies, communicative videos, read books and even tried talking to myself in the mirror. As my English improved a bit, I got
the confident to speak to others and make friends. By my second week, I made some good friends and they had helped me a lot throughout but I
still wasn't able to speak one third as good English as them, and on the other hand my grades were getting lower, especially for English. Soon came
the report card day, I got devastated looking at my grades; right on that moment, a girl from my classroom walked up to me, stared right into my soul
and said, "I can challenge you that you will never be able to get grades better than these and neither will you be able to speak English like us, you will

School Day In High School
"Glee club to the lobby, your bus has arrived", said the lady on the loudspeaker. I was so happy to be leaving this early in the school day, and especially
to be going to sing and go to Lake Compounce. It was around 8:40 or 9:00. We walked out of the big front doors of Seymour Middle School and
off to the bus that was parked beside the sidewalk. We got on and I was with one of my best friends, Brooke. We were so excited as we pulled off our
drawstring bags from our backs and sat down next to each other. After about 15 minutes of sitting on the bus going literally nowhere and doing
headcounts of the glee members, we finally started driving out of the school entryway and off into the road. On the way there, the eighth graders at
the time were in the back of the bus, singing songs and practicing for our performance. The seventh and sixth graders, us, were in the front were all
playing some sort of game with the person next to us. It took a while to get there, to some town I never knew the name of. After lots of games of ISpy
we arrived. Maloney High School.
We just got off the bus and did yet another headcount, which I thought was weird considering no one can just get off the bus whenever they wanted,
but that was beside the point. We walked in the school, warmed up in some extra practice room with a television that showed who was performing
until they called us all in. We sat in the gigantic auditorium way in the back and watched the schools before us. There were two schools

The Worst Day In School
The first day of school was the worst day of my life, I was talking to my mother and begged her not to go to school but it didn't work she even insisted
that I go with the kid next door to make sure I attended school. Then I had noticed that the boy was wearing blue jeans with a belt along with
overalls he also looked very looked very mad. I bet his mom made him go to school too. If that want enough then, I had to walk two miles with my
fancy shoes and dress it was the most tiring day of my life! To top it all off the boy insulted me for my clothes he had said "why did you would wear
such clothes you look hideous.", From then on I knew we were rivals! Finally, he was quiet for the rest of the way. Soon after we reached school he then

Afterwards, I woke in my room and then I drifted off to sleep. The next day my mom insisted that I stay home due to the accident. After I avoided
school for a day I had to go back and as soon as I arrived everybody began to gossip to each other the other day then I simply sat on my seat. Then I
realized that some boys were pushing Laurie around and started making fun of him and in response to this, he punched a kid in the stomach. I then
began to feel terrible about what he went through and just because he defended himself he was beaten by the teacher and the other boys were not
punished. I soon began to regret about how I will get him in trouble at the PTA meeting. The next day was the PTA meeting I can't wait till my
mom does something about Laurie although I hope it won't be too harsh. Then I realize that Laurie nor his mom are here and after the PTA
meeting both me and my mom were amazed that they weren't there. After that, I had to put up with Laurie for another week. Then it was Monday
and like always I dreaded school, then to my surprise Laurie was the teacher's helper and for once he was well behaved and the best part was he
didn't bother me that was the best day of school I have ever had! He pretty much stayed the same way the whole week. Then the worst thing
happened he had whispered in my ear this bad word, next he told me to say it to the teacher so I did, not knowing how bad it was in addition to this I
did not want to get Laurie angry

Extending School Days
Have you ever been so stressed out, and tired of everything? Well students all across America feel this way. With school years winding down teachers
are putting too much stress among the students to do well on state test and school assignments. So as a solution to the problem many districts have had
the idea of extending the school day. This is a bad idea because the districts are putting out unneeded money, and for what reason?
To begin with, schools will have to pay for extra utility use because students will be in school longer so the expenses will continue to elevate. Also if
the school days are extended then the district will have to pay the teachers more of a salary, and that will limit the amount of activities that students and
teachers love. Also (The National Education Association) estimates that the average added cost would be around $1,200 per student, per year for most
school districts. This is a problem that would happen if the school day is extended. (Sanders,2016)
People say that school districts care about the well being of students but in reality extending the school day this is hurting the students. They will be in
school longer and research shows that about 30% of the students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's a very irrelevant solution. Research shows that .2 percent of students actually learn more, and honestly I don't think that's enough. Not even close to
1% and they want to extend it, doing that is just gonna cause more problems. Also research doesn't support it. Research shows that students only pay
attention a third of the school day, and adding more hours of school will make students even more miserable. Some parents don't support this idea either
because they think that doing this will eliminate the time that students have with their parents. The students will be so caught up in school work that
they will not have time with their family for the little time they have with them at

The First Day Of School Day
Imagine a five year old preparing for her first day of school. Both parents and the future scholar are beyond excited as they pack a healthy lunch to
head out the door. Mother and child review a checklist of needed supplies. Crayons? Check. Pencils? Check. Backpack ready, they head out the door.
Besides the jittery nerves of a new experience, the day goes perfectly. The child shares the same experience as the other students, with one minor
exception: stopping by the nurse's office for a "snack" after recess. Since it's the first day of school, none of the children know what to expect in a
school day, so everything is fine.
But day after day, they start to wonder why the child has to have a separate snack everyday, and why the nurse keeps... Show more content on

"If it was legalized and if the medical community of Texas find that the medicinal benefits outweigh other potential concerns, I think that would do a lot
to decry the stigma of cannabis use," said Patsy Thomas, President of Mental Health Connection of Tarrant County. "Perhaps, then, it would become
another acceptable tool health professionals could implement into treatment plans."
Data from the 2015 (CCHAPS) Community–wide Children's Health Assessment and Planning Survey indicates that access to healthcare is an issue for
many local children and their families. Since access is an impediment to healthcare, experts say communities need to be more willing to embrace safe
medical options that date back thousands of years such as cannabis oil, rather than allow it to be locally criminalized and stigmatized.
Mental Health Connection, a coalition of agencies that work to improve the delivery of mental health services in Tarrant County, suggests citizens take
the following steps to help bring about change: Stay informed on legislation, medical studies and breakthroughs Work with local advocacy groups and
talk to local and state legislature Consult with your healthcare team If possible, participate in clinical trials and studies Be proactive by generating
awareness of medicinal cannabis success stories

Inside the building looks wider than outside, there were many prizes in the closets made of glasses, there were many lockers with the maroon
color. I followed the colors on the wall that leads to my advisor teacher's room , that was a room number 110, I walked in and saw my teacher.
Because I meet her before, so we knew each other, she's a nice person, she introduced everything in school for me, from the classrooms to the gym.
After a while of introducing, I went to my first hour class, I saw a lot of people there , I was nervous, I looked at my schedule, that was English
class. There were a lot of students, people talked to each other , except me because I didn't know anyone in there , so I just kept silence. The teacher
came in class and started teaching, honestly I didn't understand at all, because my English skills were bad. The time went through in confusion, first ,
second, third, fourth period, I felt so tired, it wasn't of difficulty of classes, it was because my English is bad. When the bell of the fourth period rang,
that was the time for lunch. There were 2 lunch A and B, because our school has a lot of student, I got B lunch, so I walked to lunch in the crowd.

School Day In High School
The school bell rings at 2:50 indicating the end of the school day. I race out of my AP Chemistry class and head straight for my car parked across
the street from the high school. Within four minutes, I'm pulling out of the parking lot and heading north on McHenry Avenue. As I drive as
"efficiently" as possible, I scan the street for any dangers. I approach the only stoplight on this relatively short journey and I pray that it's green.
Luckily, it almost always is. I continue up the street for a few more blocks and pull into the parking lot of the public library at 2:58. I put the car in
park, turn it off, open the glove department and grab my earbuds, and take the water bottle from my backpack. I sprint up the stairs, into the Youth
Department, and straight to the carts of books to be put away. Within seconds, my earbuds are in, the podcast app is open, and I'm pulling a cart of
books over to the Junior Non–Fiction section. Every Thursday, Friday, and sometimes Tuesday afternoon I work at my local public library in the
Youth Department after school. I have two primary jobs which include shelving returned books and organizing books in alphabetical order. It is a
pretty simple job, I know. What's even better about it is that I get to use headphones while doing so. After getting bored listening to the same music
playlist for a couple of hours, I realized that I could listen to anything I want. One day, I decided to open the podcast app on my iPhone. I wasn't sure

The First Day Of School
On a foggy Thursday morning, I was up earlier than normal for the first day of school. Hardly any sleep was received throughout the night as the
excitement for the next day sat in. The hallway was dark as I made my way to the kitchen. Within the next hour, my life would change drastically. The
first day of school can always be problematic. However, the first day of high school is especially hard. Youthful children are always looking up to
high school students. They seem like they are so old and mature. It is hard to imagine that you would ever be that old. On this morning, I was
going to become one of those terrifying high school students. My brother, Brandon, had already endured this process three years ago when he
was a freshman. Now, he was about to start his senior year. I watched him all through Little League, Pop Warner Football and Jerry West
basketball. When Brandon began high school, the thought of him graduating never crossed my mind. Never once did I miss any of his high
school sports games, but now we will be playing together. It is outlandish how rapidly time goes by. Once I brushed my teeth and got dressed, it
was almost time to leave. Heading out the door, I hurriedly grabbed my backpack. Brandon and I climbed into his truck and started on our way to
school. "You ready for high school?" asked Brandon. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be," I replied. It was my first day, and his last first day. It's hard to think
about coming to a new school without someone there

School Day Essay
Modern day education has been plagued by its past, and the only way to fix this issue is to find effective ways to bring education into the present.
Many decades ago the problem of school, for students, was rooted behind work. Farming families relied on their children to help on the farm and to
prepare for harvest. This instigated reform in schools nationwide, causing the school day to be shorter to allow kids to work. This narrative is becoming
non–existent in today's society, and student's educations are negatively being affected. President Barack Obama also states, "We can no longer afford
an academic calendar designed when America was a nation of farmers who needed their children at home plowing the land at the end of each day. That

The school board and administrators knew that there needed to be change with how their students were being taught. They implemented three
principals to help with their reform: enrichment and extracurricular activities, targeted academic support, and professional learning. Furthermore, they
adapted their school day to follow the new implemented principals, while extending their school day. Monday through Thursday they expanded their
school day to include nine and half hours, starting at 7:00 am and ending at 4:30 pm. The school day was also broken down to allow for academic
enrichment and extracurricular activities to help the student with their individual needs. On Friday they allowed for a half day, but offered professional
development for students who needed help in a certain subject. Edwards transformed to a school focused on student development, both academically
and socially. The three principals that Edwards Middle school added to help with their transformation are: enrichment/extracurricular activities, targeted
academic support, and professional learning, helping create an innovative school. First, looking at Edwards' enrichment/extracurricular activities

School Day Persuasive
Persuasive Essay I have been told that the state of Iowa has extended the school day by an hour since the state had changed the number of mandatory
subjects a student must take per year. Personally I disagree with the extension of the school day; I say this for many reasons some of those including
little to no time for extracurricular activities, more homework, and just generally a longer day. Even though I might seem biased because personally I
am a student, I will try to show both sides of the story. With the usualschool day lasting about eight hours adding an extra hour to that would take time
away from students participating in other skill building activities such as sports, band, student council, theater, National Honor Society, or robotics.

Students in high school get anywhere from 1 hour a night to 4+ hours a night of homework adding even an extra 30 minutes for that one class can
stop students from wanting to learn. After a long day at school and a meeting for a club you go home and immediately get started on all of that day's
work, and after a while you get the feeling of being "burnt out." This can stop a child or teenager from wanting to learn in the end, may even make the
student hate the subject itself, and if students are given too much homework it can make them have anxiety and horrible stress. Most high schools start
anywhere from 7:45 – 8:30 am and go until around 3:00 – 4:45 pm, and that can mean 7–8 hours in school a day. It has been proven that teenager's
brains do not start working until later on in the day. Having such a long day at school can have many disadvantages such as straining your eyes at the
end of the day trying to take notes, not having someone to pick you up on time, or even worse test scores. At the end of the day the students may be
too tired to attempt to do their

Emily's First Day of School
7:00 a.m. I wake up to the sound of my phone screaming in my ear. My mom is also yelling "Emily, turn that alarm off! Some of us are trying to
sleep!" Today is the first day of school so my friends are all texting me. As I walk to the bathroom, I grab a skirt and a top that I hung up last night. My
friends and I decided that we should all wear skirts on the first day of school. As I finish getting ready I grab my phone to look at the time. The time is
8:15, so I run downstairs and find that my family has already cleaned up breakfast, but as usual my mom has left me a waffle to grab as I run out
the door. I arrive to school just in time to find my friends are beginning to walk inside. But just as I spot them I realize that I am not wearing the
right outfit. While I was getting ready they decided to wear dresses. I search my purse for my phone and it is nowhere to be found. This is
beginning to be a bad day. My friends all walk over to my car, but I don't want to face them. This same thing happened to another girl that is in the
group last year. We had decided to wear jeans, but then switched to jeanshorts because it was really hot out. We all didn't talk to her until her mom
brought her jean shorts. I decide its best if I just drive home and grab a dress and my phone and be a little late to school. So as I pull out I yell to thaem

My Last Day Of School
Summer The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam, we did PSP. On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th
period. I didn't have to do anything. Since we didn't have to take a test we got to play games and mess around. The day went by really slow, but I
was fine with that. I was having fun messing around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring. I walked outside of the
classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited that school was over. People were chanting things such as, "FREEDOM! FREEDOM!" and
'SUMMER! SUMMER!" After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next
day was my birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning
13 and Grant was turning 14. I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where you can play a ton of different
games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good.
It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I
went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake

School Day Memo
Hi Ms. Sims and Mr. Mehta,
Tomorrow starts the first school day of the 2015–16 school–year. I am excited and hope both of you are as well. Please see a temporary OTC schedule
attached.
Breakfast
As you know you will manage the FSS system for breakfast and support breakfast setup and distribution from 7:00AM to 7:45AM. This is additional
45 minutes is compensated by extra, for 1 additional hour each day that you work breakfast. Build in travel time wisely. Students will start eating at
7:10AM this year to give more time to eat. So please have you FSS machine or tracking computer ready for a 7:10AM start. Since most students are
not in the system, especially at the Lower School, we will use a digital tracker in google apps for the first week or so. I will put this together and inform

You then need to email the QMR to Ms. Williams, CCing Mrs. Johnson, the cafeteria worker in your building and I.
Morning Circle:
Once breakfast is over, your support will be needed in either the MPR or the GYM. Ms. Sims, notice in the schedule that you are listed to monitor
staircase B then support morning circle. If someone is already monitoring staircase B, go directly to the GYM and help with setting up the media cart.
Be present in the you morning circles. Create goo habits and model what students should see by standing, monitoring and being active. Sitting on the
stage creates bag habits and send the wrong message.
Lunch
Our School Aides will not be able to start tomorrow. It is likely that both will start on 9/1– maybe sooner. Nonetheless, this means we will need you
assistance to managing the lunch machines. Similiar to last year, we will double–track. However, since most students are not in the system especially
at the Lower School, we will use a digital tracker in google apps for the first week. You will then need to manually input the

Benefits Of School Days
Have you ever thought of how many more assignments you would be able to complete and how many different activities you would be able to
participate in if your school day was shorter? Most students lack at getting the proper amount of sleep due to the fact that they are staying up late to
meet assignment deadlines, driving to and from different places to participate in their after–school activities, and spending time with friends and family
so that they are not completely rid of a social life outside of the average school day. The individuals have less energy to get up and go to school
where they should strive to get good grades, but instead slowly begin to slack off a little more each day because of how long the school day is and
how the feeling of being compelled to stay at their desks for seven hours only lowers their desire to want to complete their assignments. This act
eventually leads to the students GPA's diminishing and it being almost impossible to bring their grades back up in time. By shortening the school days,
understudies wouldn't be as troubled about going to class and their evaluations would be higher. In high school, the average school day should not be
extended because students academic achievements, after–school activities, and their social lives are already limited as it is. Lengthening the day would
lead to more misuse of resources used during the school day as well as many other negative outcomes. The length of the school day not only stresses

Longer School Days And More School Days
In order for student success to take place the students need to try and actually do their work. They also need to be paying attention to their teacher
while the teacher is teaching the lesson. The class did their research by watching a documentary on students who are in an extracurricular activity and
the class also read research based articles. The students at Anaheim schools can improve student success if the following take place: schooldays need to
be longer, students need to change their mindset, and the students need to be in an extracurricular activity.
The Steps There are students in Anaheim schools that aren't really understanding what they're being taught, therefore, they fail the class, and are prone
to being a successful student or having a great education. In order to put a stop and help students have an education and make them into successful
students, the schools in Anaheim need to have a longer school day. My argument is to have longer school days and more school days in the schools of
Anaheim. In Marita's Bargain, Gladwell points out that students are more successful when they're in school for a longer day. "I think that extended
amount of time gives you the chance as a teacher to explain things, and more time for kids to sit and digest everything that's going on – to review, to do
things at a much slower pace"(10). This teacher even says that having a longer school day is better than a regular school day. Having a longer school
day gives the opportunity to

My School Day
Buzz–buzz. My phone sounded promptly at 7:40 a.m. signaling the start of a new day. I groaned, still drowsy from the 3 hours of sleep I got. My
previous night was just an express train of college applications and studying. A question manifested in my mind: "Should I go to school or just stay
home and finish my app?" I shrugged off my drowsiness and decided the first option. Today, after all, is Halloween and I wanted to see the
plethora of costumes decorating the school halls. I was heading towards the shower, preparing for another day of school. However, what happens
latter this day will prove that it is no ordinary day, rather, one that will go down in history in infamy. The day passed by slowly and and painfully,
with nothing out of the ordinary. By 2:50, the end bell rung and my school day was over. Usually I would head downstairs to the senior bar and hang
out before leaving, but today I decided to sprint home to finish my college application. During the train ride, I was relaxing, tapping my feet along
with the beat of the hip hop music blasting through my Skullcandy earbuds. I closed my eyes, deciding to get some rest before I got home. Little do I
know that my afternoon will be spent worrying about something else bigger than my future colleges. Once the train escapes from the confinements of
underground, I decided to turn on my data to check on my Facebook Feed. Once the LTE bar appeared, my phone flooded with the text messages,

My First Day Of School
The beating heart of my anecdote is something like this: as school days come and go I reflect, on how my education began. I remember my first
day of school. I walked into Sparkman, following my older sister Hannah, I made it my mission to attach myself to her and clutch her side making
every move that she did. When she went to her class and I was forced to go into mine, I was speechless. I was terrified when I walked into my
kindergarten classroom for the first time. Thoughts danced in my mind as to what we might learn that day. That is when my teacher, Mrs. Stanford,
wrote "Reading" on the board. Although I, as well as many of my classmates, were anxious about the school day reading and writing were challenges
ahead of our young minds waiting to be discovered
First and foremost, kindergarten was the year we began sounding out words. If I did not know a word or words, I started sounding them out until I
came to the conclusion of what the word might be. This action was not always easy, especially on the days of my timed reading test. Not only was
I overwhelmed when it came to reading quickly, I panicked. I remember the first reading test; I waited anxiously for my turn and thought that when I
got up there, I would "forget how to read." My palms turned sweaty as I watched the others finish, I knew it was close to my turn. As I sat in that
chair in front of my teacher I had butterflies in my stomach. My knee moved up and down as I confused D's with B's. I knew when the timer

School Hour And The School Day
School is the first chapter of the book of life. It is a source of knowledge and skill which facilitates brain development. A school shapes the character
and attitude of a person. A discussion is ongoing in regard to the need to increasing school hours in the US. Currently in the US, the school day is
eight hours long. Unite If a person does well in school the chance that he or she will succeed in life is very high. A good school produce a
productive, creative and intellectual human beings who will be useful to their country, society and the world. Other people who don't do well in
school will mostly struggle to fulfill their own and their family basic needs. And mostly they will end up doing a hard labor and less paying jobs. One
way we can help a student to have a successful life is if the school time would be longer. The length of school influences the amount of information
taken and understood by students. There has been information suggesting that the length of the school hour does influence the amount of information
taken in. For example, in China the school hours are ten hours in a day and the country in 2014 achieved the highest score in math, science, and
language. This shows that the more time allocated to education the more that the students excel and achieve good results. In Russia and the US,
schools are only given seven hours a day. This may be one of the reasons that these two countries ranked low in testing. In 2014, the US was ranked
24th in

The Last Day Of School
It was the last day of school, Kaylee rode the bus home just as she does every other day. When she got home, the key to her house fell out of her
hand and into a ditch. She couldn't find it, her brother helped search for the key but it was nowhere to be seen. Their mom wouldn't get off work for
another two hours, so they had to sit outside in the hot sun waiting for her. She reached into her backpack to get her phone so she could call her
mom. After she realised her phone wasn't in her backpack she decided to go sit under a tree for shade. After sitting under the tree for a while, the sun
started to set. Their mom finally got home and they went inside. She told her mom that she had left her phone at school. Since it was summer break she
couldn't go back and get it. Her mom told her that she wasn't getting another phone since she left it at school. Kaylee snuck out of the house to go get
her friends. Kaylee, Destiny, Alyssa, and Lexi all walked to pinkston.
When they got there all the lights were off except for one, the main office still had a dim light on. Destiny seen something move inside the room.
Kaylee figured one of the teachers left something at school. But then as they got closer to the doors they realised that it is 3:03 AM. They never
thought a teacher would still be at school at this time. For some reason none of them thought about how they would get inside of the school, the doors
were locked, Kaylee threw a rock at the door and the glass broke. They all went

No Longer School Days
I am currently researching the length of the average school day for children in the United States. The age groups that I am focusing on are
kindergarten to twelfth grade. Originally I had narrowed this research down to kids in first grade to twelfth, but after doing more research on the issue
I found that many of the sources that I've read so far speak to the length of kindergarten school days as well as the length of older students attending
grade school, middle school and high school.
In my research of this topic, so far I have seen two major viewpoints from professionals in the field of education and other stakeholders in this
discussion. Some educators argue that longer school days are beneficial to the overall learning experience of the ... Show more content on

A study by the American Journal of Family Therapy speaks to this issue. In the study, it was found that children in first to sixth grade are assigned three
times as much homework as recommended by the National Education Association. According to another study, an overabundance of homework has
been found to not only be unnecessary, but also correlate with negative non–academic effects in students attending high school. These effects can range
anywhere from psychiatric issues such as depression to physical health issues such as ulcers, migraines, sleep deprivation and weight loss (Galloway
et al.). Stephanie Donald Pressman, psychiatrist and clinical director of the New England Center for Pediatric Psychology claims that "The data shows
that homework over this level is not only not beneficial to children's grades or GPA, but there's really a plethora of evidence that it's detrimental to their
attitude about school, their grades, their self–confidence, their social skills and their quality of

Kids running, bells (and phones) ringing, teachers yelling names off their attendance lists. The only thing I felt was tension as I was in the middle of a
hurricane of rushing students. It was absolute chaos as the first bell rang on the first day of middle school, signaling that classes were about to start.
. . .
Earlier that morning, I was so excited for school that I couldn't sleep that much. However, I did sleep for a few hours, but I woke up at 4:30 in the
morning. Then, I stayed awake until my alarm went off at 6:00, still half–asleep. After I had woken up completely, I went out of my bedroom to wake
up my dad.
Then I said, "Wake up!"
"What time is it?" my dad asked sleepily.
"It's 6:00! I need to get ready for school!" I replied back.
After I had taken a shower and changed, I went downstairs to eat breakfast. My mom was making pancakes, so I sat down and checked to make sure
I had everything I needed for my first day of school. "Pencils, check. Notebooks, check. Binder, check. Index cards, check. Paper, check. Planner,
check." I made a very long mental checklist to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything. Then, I noticed a plate of pancakes with maple syrup sitting in
front of me, so I started eating. The pancakes were delicious and they nearly melted in my mouth and the maple syrup made them even softer and
tastier. I loved it.
. . .
Once I had finished breakfast, I started getting some other things that I would need for school, such as my phone.

Longer School Days In School
Students attending the KIPP academy are most likely going to turn out successful. KIPP Academy is a very helpful especially to students who
have a more complicated life. Now, what are Anaheim schools doing that differs from what KIPP Academy is doing. Most students in Anaheim
schools arrive late to school. A possibility can be that students do not get to sleep on time and wake up late for school. In order to increase student
success at Anaheim schools, students must have longer school days and be able to have enough time to get all the sleep they need to be well
rested for school days. To be wide awake in class ready to learn. Students shouldn't get so much break during the summer because they happen to
forget what they learned throughout the school year, "The school year in the United States is, on average, 180 days long. The South Korean school
year is 220 days long" (9). Having longer and more school days can result in students having what they learned in their minds. They should make a
more short amount of summer break so they won't forget everything they learned. Longer school days means that students might not get enough rest
but they really should to be able to stay awake in class. If students get longer school days, they shouldn't be given so much homework to do at home
so they can get the rest they need from long hours at school, "Sometimes I don't go to sleep when I'm supposed to," Marita continued. I go to sleep at
like, twelve o'clock, and the next afternoon, it

Last Day Of School
The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam we did PSP. On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th period. I didn't
have to do anything. Since we didn't have to take a test we got to play games and mess around. The day went by really slow, but I was fine with that. I
was having fun messing around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring.
I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my
friends. I had a blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays
around the same time, so we decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14. I had my birthday party at a place
called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I
was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started
to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go
to a place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the
lake. This trip felt like it went

Essay On School Days In School
Anaheim Schools have about 180 days in a school year. That is less than what other schools around the country have. This could be the problem
resulting in less student success. In high schools, there are about six periods. Each period is about forty minutes long. This is a short amount of time
for teachers to teach a lesson and help students out. It is also difficult when there are a few days of school left and students are trying to raise their
grades up. In order to increase student success at Anaheim Schools, there should be more school days and fewer vacation days. Having more
school days means that teachers can teach a lesson within two or three days without feeling pressured. It also means that students get to learn more
and ask for help. In the essay Marita's Bargain, by Malcolm Gladwell, states, "The only problem with school, for kids who aren't achieving, is that
there isn't enough of it" (8). It says how there aren't enough school days for students to be successful. He is pointing out that the school year should
have more than 180 days. In Japan, there are 243 days in a school year. Mostly everyone knows that Asians are really smart, so having a longer school
year could result in smarter students and better success. This essay talks about a school called KIPP Academy. The administration strongly believes
that KIPP Academy helps every one of their students become successful. Students have to sacrifice many things to dedicate all their time to this school.

Last Day Of High School
The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will never forget. On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad's
truck; I remember telling myself I can't wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes
ready to get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we had clubs. Since my club was not
allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care
Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more.
At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint
park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece's first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined.
For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it
wasn't. During the time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and
everyone winded up loving their gifts. Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn't go anywhere; which meant no chores, no being told to get out the
house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught on my Netflix shows and my sleep.

Importance Of School Day In American School
Length of day in American Schools
The American Educational system, which many of us students have become familiar with, did not come about instantaneously. What we have now is
the result of many decades of development and policy–making in legislation. Though Parochial schools were used in the U.S. as early as 1750, and
Government–funded public schools began cropping up after the Revolutionary war, our educational system's pace of development was relatively slow
up until around the mid–19th century when the first states began passing laws that made schooling compulsory to all those who had the opportunity to
attend. By the early 1900s, twelve years of education became the standard across the nation, a standard that has withstood the test of time and is still in
place today. The average school day in the U.S. is 6.5 hours, and students are expected to attend 180 total days of school per grade term. To supplement
this, on average the U.S. spends more per capita on education than any other country in the world. Though we spend much, the results don't directly
translate to nation–wide success in schools. In 2014, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in education. Many attribute this to the average length of the
school day in America, and others propose an overall increase in total instructional hours within American schools.
As stated earlier, the average school day in America is 6.5 hours long, beginning at around 7:30am and ending between 2 to 3pm. Within this time,

School Day
I've told this story many times before and to this day, I have not run out of questions. It was a regular school day, nothing was out of the ordinary. I
woke up at five in the morning, showered, brushed my teeth, got dressed and waited for my mom to finish getting ready while I played video games,
as I do every day. The drive to school was just like every other drive to school. Mom was asking questions, trying to get some intel on my life, just like
any other mother of a 16 year old teen. When we drove past school I felt weird. There was a pit in my stomach; I felt nervous. It was the same feeling
that you'd get on the first day of school. I walked in and I saw Elizabeth. Elizabeth has been my crush since the sixth grade. ... Show more content on

I quickly rushed to the window, when I did everyone started yelling at me telling me not to, but I needed to. My sister was on her lunch break and
I had no idea where she was and what I saw, when I looked out the window worried me even more. Everyone out there looked terrified there were
flashes everywhere, bodies falling, people crying, others rushing to find a spot to hide and there was nothing anyone could've done to help out. Our
teacher locked us in the room and told us to hide. I was crying hysterically, but I needed to pull myself together. Elizabeth was next to me, panicking
and I needed to help her. We were hiding under the teacher's desk, when we heard all the shooting stop all together.
Afterwards we hear loud knocking, it was a girl begging to be let in. We didn't understand why she was being so loud, if she was trying to get away
from those psychotic murders. Maybe it was just the paranoia in me, but I got that same sense that something terrible was about to happen. I began
to question, if she was trying to get us caught or something. Why did she choose our class out of all the others? Our class was all the way at the end
of the hallway, at the very front of the hallway, there was an intersection to the other hallway. The bathrooms were in that other hallway, if she was in
the bathroom when this went down, why didn't she go to one of those other classes in that hallway or the first

Day School Week
Have you heard about many schools going to a four day school week and why they would, so by changing the school week to four days it can save
money, help teachers, and give students and teachers better morale. When the teachers are at school planning they get that extra day to do so, therefore
they are more confident in the way they are teaching their classes. Colby Public Schools should adopt the four day school system because the cost for
transportation and meals will be cheaper, the shorter week will give both the students and teachers more time to do studies or do other things in their
social life, and while the students are off doing other things the teachers can plan for the week.
To begin, Colby Public Schools should go to a four day school week because it will help the teachers with their planning times. According to Sage
International School in Boise Idaho the four day school week has helped with teachers and they are using it for extensive professional development.
Zach Parker is a history teacher at that school and he said "they share new teaching strategies that reflect on which ones have worked well in their
classrooms. That time allows us to steer the boat in the direction we see fit, and feel more respected as educators." Having the four day school week
also helps the retention of teacher recruitment because more teachers would rather work four days with students than five and they use that extra day
for either a day of rest or day of planning/grading. The

Mrs. Roig then stopped the test and rushed to the door to lock it, cover the door window, and shut off the lights since the first grade hall was the

One day I was sitting on the couch playing games and texting my friends on my phone, and then my dad came home and was knocking on the door. I

knocking on my room door. "can you open up, please".My dad said. I said why out of all the jobs you pick this one. I heard "beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep

Benefits Of School Day
The average school day is 7–8 hours and I think it's just the right amount of time we need for school. But the school board wants to add one and half
hours to our school day, and I don't think it's necessary. We shouldn't add time to our school day, it will have so much negative effect on our student
that I don't think it's worth it. After all, we already have a negative impact on how long our school days are. For example; most of the time we are
sitting and research has shown our generation is 125% more likely to get diabetes, heart disease and other heart attacks just from us sitting down,
and adding an hour and thirty minutes will only make it worse because we're sitting most for most of the day. But this is not the only negative effect
of having longer school days. It will not only take us longer to get home, but it will be more difficult because of the program some people are in, they
couldn't ride regular school buses because they would have already dropped off the high school students and would have been on their way home, and
the people who go to these programs (Academy 360) will have to make their bus drive longer to get home because they will probably have to catch
different buses, and the student will be more tired and not be able to work to their absolute best abilities, because they are usually out of school at this
time and their brains are out of learning mode and into relaxing mode.
The first problem with longer school days is you couldn't

Day School Week
Having a day off of school or work is something many people wish for. However, that wish is coming true for many across the U.S! Four–day school
weeks are a growing trend that has become increasingly popular in recent times. We should have four–day school weeks because it brings higher
student and teacher morale, it allows students to have an extra day away from school, and it helps decrease budget spending. Although there are
skeptics of the four–day school week, there are no known negative effects of this four–day schedule. One of the best reasons to cut the school week to
four days in the increase in morale among both students and teachers. A study on the district of Peach County, Georgia showed that disciplinary issues
were down by a whopping 40%, which is believed to be caused by the reduced stress brought by four–day school weeks. Also, a study in the Melstone
District of Montana showed that absences decreased by about 20%, which means that students have do not have to be nearly as stressed about make–up
work as often. Another way a four–day schedule can increase morale is teachers will not have to be as stressed about grading work and preparing
lessons due to the extra day off they obtain to fit those parts of their job into their own time. Lastly, surveys on both teachers and students show
overwhelming support in favor of the four–day school week with about 90% of teachers favoring it and about 80% of students favoring the schedule
change. Another good reason

Longer School Day

  • 1. Longer School Day Extending the school day by an hour would require students to take additional courses to fill the time. At SWHS, we go from 4 classes a day to potentially 5 or 6 classes a day. With more classes, students will now have to prepare for multiple exams per day. In the worst case scenario, students might have as many as 6 tests in one day! These many tests are bound to stress students to the point of exhaustion. For example, Jess Jones might have an AP History test for first period, a geometry test for third period, and a Business Essentials test during 6th period. Jess Jones, being an honors student, will have spent 4–6 hours studying the night before and did not get the recommended 7–8 hours of sleep. On test day, Jess Jones is moving sluggisly, has the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the current schedule many parents make doctor's appointments right after school around 3:30 or 4:00 o'clock. However, if school were to end at 4:15 many parents would have to reschedule appointments throughout the school day which would take away from learning. For athletes, a longer school day would be even more chaotic. Most practices start immediately after school from 3:30 and last until 5:30 and sometimes practice runs as late as 6:00. These athletes would not get home until 6:30 and will be starving! Most importantly, students with jobs will lose hours and money. For instance, many seniors currently work from 3:30 to 8:30 every night. They make $8 an hour which would earn them $40 a night. If they work 5 days a week that would give that senior $200. However, if the school day were to end at 4:15, instead of working 5 hours a night it would force them to only be able to work 4 hours a night. This would lead to a $40 pay cut in 1 week and $160 pay cut per month! How would you feel if you had to miss school time because of doctor's appointments, have to practice later into the night, miss dinner, and lose out on job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Shorter School Days A small portion of us that controls a whole lot is the brain. Recent research indicates that the teenage brain is not fully developed or matured until a person is in their twenties. Therefore even if the teenage brain is not fully developed, lenghtening the school day will not better test scores. Some people like Barack Obama argue that U.S. students are farther behind acedemically than other countries. As a solution Obama suggests to lenghten the school day to increase test scores in America, but research indicates otherwise. The phrase quality over quantity rebutes president Obama's decision to increase school days . In the quote "If the teaching methods used currently are not working, spending time using those same methods is not going to change anything... plus other countries who students score higher than U.S. students actually have shorter school days than U.S. schools currently have" (education.seattlepi.com). In short extending the school day does not always garuntee higher test results, but quality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Refer to the phrase in paragraph one, the quality is better than quantity. In the quote " a researcher in Germany found that a shorter time in school did not affect average students' learning of material in the core academic subjects"(poynter.org). This quote further proves that extending the school day is unnecissary because it does not affect the learning in core academics. In conclusion extending the school day will not increase test scores. Third, expanding the school day costs a lot of money. In the quote "If the proposals were approved they would add two million dollars to a proposed budget of 210 million dollars" (washingtonpost.com). This quote further proves that the school day should not be extended because it costs a lot more money that people would have to pay. In conclusion the school day should not be expanded because it cost a lot of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My First Day Of School I walked through the door on the first day of school, everybody turned and looked at me "Hey Jordyn!" everyone said. I waved. *BEEP BEEP BEEP*In my dreams. I had always wanted to be popular I don't know why but I always had. I slammed my hand on the snooze button. I climbed out of bed and opened my dresser. Pulled out a pair of leggings and a short floral dress. I went down stair following the smell of waffles. "Morning Jordyn!" My mom said placing a plate on the table. "Hi Mom!" I sat down and cut my waffle into little pieces. First day of 8th grade. My brother walked down the stair, he looked like he just got up from sleeping for about 500 years. "Morning Ryan" I say he says nothing and just starts shoving waffle into his mouth. I walked to the bathroom. and just looked at myself in the mirror. My phone rang, It was Reagan. My best friend of all times. "Hey Girl!" I said into the phone all I heard was little sheek. "OMG!!! Hi! I can't wait!" She screamed into the phone I walked out of the bathroom. "Bye mom!" I said slipping on my shoes and walking out the door, "Bye sweetie have a good day at school!" I slammed the door and walked to the bus stop still talking to Reagan. My life was going perfectly. Once I got to the bus stop I saw him. The only one I have ever loved. Hunter Mayberry. His icy blue eyes looked at me. He smiled. "Hey Jordyn!" Oh my gosh!!! HE WAS WALKING OVER TO ME! I could barely breathe, "How was your summer?" He asked flashing his stunning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The First Day Of School The first day of school has the major influence on the way an individual will eventually turn out in the future. Many actions have occurred in my life long ago, some fail to recall, and some I still clearly remember. I was going into my first school in America. I had moved from Kenya, a long distance from the USA in order to link with my family, who had been here for almost 4 years, expecting America would help my future. My father told me It would be better if I go to school here, so I registered in the local high school in my city. I was frightened how I would do in school as I have never been to school in the US before. First, I met new people with different cultures, second it was a whole new experience for me in which success depended on me, and third it was the first day that I went to school in the US. Finally, I won't forget it very easily because lots of things were accomplished in my first day at school. On the first day, I went to my following period after I had missed my first period because I came to school late and also I was looking for my first period class. I was already confused because in Kenya the teachers shift according to periods although most of the students have the same periods. In Kenya you stay in one classroom and the teacher will come to you in the class, they do not have special classrooms. With nervousness on one hand and fear on the other, I reached for the door handle of my second class, opening it bit by bit. As I enter it the classroom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My First Day Of School Kindergarten It was a good day, I stood in front of the door so I could be picked up by my mom. There was a kid, James, he was much taller than me at the time, most people were taller than me, but I didn't mind. James came down the hallway and was staring straight at me with a devilish look in his eyes and a smirk on his face. I was holding a couple of picture books that we had to bring that day, I really enjoyed reading them. He was approaching me, I didn't think anything of it, all I was doing was minding my own business. He stood in front of me with his back straight and he was staring into me, like he was establishing dominance, like a lion in the jungle. In one quick motion he snatched all of my picture books straight out of my hands, I stood there speechless, I hated confrontation. Then he held those books over me to the point where I couldn't reach them. I jumped and jumped but I couldn't reach those books, I repeatedly said "Give them back!" and he responded with "Just take them then", he knew I couldn't.. By then a teacher saw us and reclaimed my books from James, but I was already in tears. I spent the rest of the day sobbing and trying to understand how someone could be so heartless. 7th Grade First day of school, lunchtime rush, who do I sit with, who can I sit with, too late. The tables were full, I was already in a terrible situation and it's only 3 hours into the school year. I search all around the lunchroom, I don't know them, they don't know me. This was ... • 6. My First Day Of New School My legs started to tremble as I took my first step into the noisy classroom. The moment I walked in the entire class immediately became extremely quiet. First day of new school is always the hardest, but for me it was a bit different; it wasn't only a new school but was also a new language a, new country, different races and a total different environment. I couldn't even say a sentence properly in English, but the worst of it all was the people surrounding me had made me feel like I didn't exist or as if I didn't belong among anywhere. I was good in every other subject besides English but that hadn't mattered because everything revolved around English. As weeks passed by my worked harder days and nights trying to improve my English, I watched movies, communicative videos, read books and even tried talking to myself in the mirror. As my English improved a bit, I got the confident to speak to others and make friends. By my second week, I made some good friends and they had helped me a lot throughout but I still wasn't able to speak one third as good English as them, and on the other hand my grades were getting lower, especially for English. Soon came the report card day, I got devastated looking at my grades; right on that moment, a girl from my classroom walked up to me, stared right into my soul and said, "I can challenge you that you will never be able to get grades better than these and neither will you be able to speak English like us, you will ... • 7. School Day In High School "Glee club to the lobby, your bus has arrived", said the lady on the loudspeaker. I was so happy to be leaving this early in the school day, and especially to be going to sing and go to Lake Compounce. It was around 8:40 or 9:00. We walked out of the big front doors of Seymour Middle School and off to the bus that was parked beside the sidewalk. We got on and I was with one of my best friends, Brooke. We were so excited as we pulled off our drawstring bags from our backs and sat down next to each other. After about 15 minutes of sitting on the bus going literally nowhere and doing headcounts of the glee members, we finally started driving out of the school entryway and off into the road. On the way there, the eighth graders at the time were in the back of the bus, singing songs and practicing for our performance. The seventh and sixth graders, us, were in the front were all playing some sort of game with the person next to us. It took a while to get there, to some town I never knew the name of. After lots of games of ISpy we arrived. Maloney High School. We just got off the bus and did yet another headcount, which I thought was weird considering no one can just get off the bus whenever they wanted, but that was beside the point. We walked in the school, warmed up in some extra practice room with a television that showed who was performing until they called us all in. We sat in the gigantic auditorium way in the back and watched the schools before us. There were two schools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Worst Day In School The first day of school was the worst day of my life, I was talking to my mother and begged her not to go to school but it didn't work she even insisted that I go with the kid next door to make sure I attended school. Then I had noticed that the boy was wearing blue jeans with a belt along with overalls he also looked very looked very mad. I bet his mom made him go to school too. If that want enough then, I had to walk two miles with my fancy shoes and dress it was the most tiring day of my life! To top it all off the boy insulted me for my clothes he had said "why did you would wear such clothes you look hideous.", From then on I knew we were rivals! Finally, he was quiet for the rest of the way. Soon after we reached school he then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Afterwards, I woke in my room and then I drifted off to sleep. The next day my mom insisted that I stay home due to the accident. After I avoided school for a day I had to go back and as soon as I arrived everybody began to gossip to each other the other day then I simply sat on my seat. Then I realized that some boys were pushing Laurie around and started making fun of him and in response to this, he punched a kid in the stomach. I then began to feel terrible about what he went through and just because he defended himself he was beaten by the teacher and the other boys were not punished. I soon began to regret about how I will get him in trouble at the PTA meeting. The next day was the PTA meeting I can't wait till my mom does something about Laurie although I hope it won't be too harsh. Then I realize that Laurie nor his mom are here and after the PTA meeting both me and my mom were amazed that they weren't there. After that, I had to put up with Laurie for another week. Then it was Monday and like always I dreaded school, then to my surprise Laurie was the teacher's helper and for once he was well behaved and the best part was he didn't bother me that was the best day of school I have ever had! He pretty much stayed the same way the whole week. Then the worst thing happened he had whispered in my ear this bad word, next he told me to say it to the teacher so I did, not knowing how bad it was in addition to this I did not want to get Laurie angry ... • 9. Extending School Days Have you ever been so stressed out, and tired of everything? Well students all across America feel this way. With school years winding down teachers are putting too much stress among the students to do well on state test and school assignments. So as a solution to the problem many districts have had the idea of extending the school day. This is a bad idea because the districts are putting out unneeded money, and for what reason? To begin with, schools will have to pay for extra utility use because students will be in school longer so the expenses will continue to elevate. Also if the school days are extended then the district will have to pay the teachers more of a salary, and that will limit the amount of activities that students and teachers love. Also (The National Education Association) estimates that the average added cost would be around $1,200 per student, per year for most school districts. This is a problem that would happen if the school day is extended. (Sanders,2016) People say that school districts care about the well being of students but in reality extending the school day this is hurting the students. They will be in school longer and research shows that about 30% of the students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It's a very irrelevant solution. Research shows that .2 percent of students actually learn more, and honestly I don't think that's enough. Not even close to 1% and they want to extend it, doing that is just gonna cause more problems. Also research doesn't support it. Research shows that students only pay attention a third of the school day, and adding more hours of school will make students even more miserable. Some parents don't support this idea either because they think that doing this will eliminate the time that students have with their parents. The students will be so caught up in school work that they will not have time with their family for the little time they have with them at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The First Day Of School Day Imagine a five year old preparing for her first day of school. Both parents and the future scholar are beyond excited as they pack a healthy lunch to head out the door. Mother and child review a checklist of needed supplies. Crayons? Check. Pencils? Check. Backpack ready, they head out the door. Besides the jittery nerves of a new experience, the day goes perfectly. The child shares the same experience as the other students, with one minor exception: stopping by the nurse's office for a "snack" after recess. Since it's the first day of school, none of the children know what to expect in a school day, so everything is fine. But day after day, they start to wonder why the child has to have a separate snack everyday, and why the nurse keeps... "Perhaps, then, it would become another acceptable tool health professionals could implement into treatment plans." Data from the 2015 (CCHAPS) Community–wide Children's Health Assessment and Planning Survey indicates that access to healthcare is an issue for many local children and their families. Since access is an impediment to healthcare, experts say communities need to be more willing to embrace safe medical options that date back thousands of years such as cannabis oil, rather than allow it to be locally criminalized and stigmatized. Mental Health Connection, a coalition of agencies that work to improve the delivery of mental health services in Tarrant County, suggests citizens take the following steps to help bring about change: Stay informed on legislation, medical studies and breakthroughs Work with local advocacy groups and talk to local and state legislature Consult with your healthcare team If possible, participate in clinical trials and studies Be proactive by generating awareness of medicinal cannabis success stories Cannabis Legalization Stigma – Pg 2 Cannabis Legalization Stigma – Pg 2"People don't understand that ongoing, chronic illness effects the whole family and

My family came to the U.S in my freshmen year, the first day of school on the land of free left me a lot of memories about school, the feelings , people and classes. The first day of school for me was messed up between the feelings, it's because everything was new to me, there were many things that surprised and challenged me in the first day of school. The night before school was so excited, in my wind was all about tomorrow I will go to a new school in a new country, I will have the new friends ,I will learn the new things in a new education system with a new language , thinking ... • 13. School Day In High School The school bell rings at 2:50 indicating the end of the school day. I race out of my AP Chemistry class and head straight for my car parked across the street from the high school. Within four minutes, I'm pulling out of the parking lot and heading north on McHenry Avenue. As I drive as "efficiently" as possible, I scan the street for any dangers. I approach the only stoplight on this relatively short journey and I pray that it's green. Luckily, it almost always is. I continue up the street for a few more blocks and pull into the parking lot of the public library at 2:58. I put the car in park, turn it off, open the glove department and grab my earbuds, and take the water bottle from my backpack. I sprint up the stairs, into the Youth Department, and straight to the carts of books to be put away. Within seconds, my earbuds are in, the podcast app is open, and I'm pulling a cart of books over to the Junior Non–Fiction section. Every Thursday, Friday, and sometimes Tuesday afternoon I work at my local public library in the Youth Department after school. I have two primary jobs which include shelving returned books and organizing books in alphabetical order. It is a pretty simple job, I know. What's even better about it is that I get to use headphones while doing so. After getting bored listening to the same music playlist for a couple of hours, I realized that I could listen to anything I want. One day, I decided to open the podcast app on my iPhone. • 14. The First Day Of School On a foggy Thursday morning, I was up earlier than normal for the first day of school. Hardly any sleep was received throughout the night as the excitement for the next day sat in. The hallway was dark as I made my way to the kitchen. Within the next hour, my life would change drastically. The first day of school can always be problematic. However, the first day of high school is especially hard. Youthful children are always looking up to high school students. They seem like they are so old and mature. It is hard to imagine that you would ever be that old. On this morning, I was going to become one of those terrifying high school students. My brother, Brandon, had already endured this process three years ago when he was a freshman. Now, he was about to start his senior year. I watched him all through Little League, Pop Warner Football and Jerry West basketball. When Brandon began high school, the thought of him graduating never crossed my mind. Never once did I miss any of his high school sports games, but now we will be playing together. It is outlandish how rapidly time goes by. Once I brushed my teeth and got dressed, it was almost time to leave. Heading out the door, I hurriedly grabbed my backpack. Brandon and I climbed into his truck and started on our way to school. "You ready for high school?" asked Brandon. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be," I replied. It was my first day, and his last first day. It's hard to think about coming to a new school without someone there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. School Day Essay Modern day education has been plagued by its past, and the only way to fix this issue is to find effective ways to bring education into the present. Many decades ago the problem of school, for students, was rooted behind work. Farming families relied on their children to help on the farm and to prepare for harvest. This instigated reform in schools nationwide, causing the school day to be shorter to allow kids to work. This narrative is becoming non–existent in today's society, and student's educations are negatively being affected. President Barack Obama also states, "We can no longer afford an academic calendar designed when America was a nation of farmers who needed their children at home plowing the land at the end of each day. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The school board and administrators knew that there needed to be change with how their students were being taught. They implemented three principals to help with their reform: enrichment and extracurricular activities, targeted academic support, and professional learning. Furthermore, they adapted their school day to follow the new implemented principals, while extending their school day. Monday through Thursday they expanded their school day to include nine and half hours, starting at 7:00 am and ending at 4:30 pm. The school day was also broken down to allow for academic enrichment and extracurricular activities to help the student with their individual needs. On Friday they allowed for a half day, but offered professional development for students who needed help in a certain subject. Edwards transformed to a school focused on student development, both academically and socially. The three principals that Edwards Middle school added to help with their transformation are: enrichment/extracurricular activities, targeted academic support, and professional learning, helping create an innovative school. School Day Persuasive Persuasive Essay I have been told that the state of Iowa has extended the school day by an hour since the state had changed the number of mandatory subjects a student must take per year. Personally I disagree with the extension of the school day; I say this for many reasons some of those including little to no time for extracurricular activities, more homework, and just generally a longer day. Even though I might seem biased because personally I am a student, I will try to show both sides of the story. With the usualschool day lasting about eight hours adding an extra hour to that would take time away from students participating in other skill building activities such as sports, band, student council, theater, National Honor Society, or robotics. Students in high school get anywhere from 1 hour a night to 4+ hours a night of homework adding even an extra 30 minutes for that one class can stop students from wanting to learn. After a long day at school and a meeting for a club you go home and immediately get started on all of that day's work, and after a while you get the feeling of being "burnt out." This can stop a child or teenager from wanting to learn in the end, may even make the student hate the subject itself, and if students are given too much homework it can make them have anxiety and horrible stress. Most high schools start anywhere from 7:45 – 8:30 am and go until around 3:00 – 4:45 pm, and that can mean 7–8 hours in school a day. It has been proven that teenager's brains do not start working until later on in the day. Many actions have occurred in my life long ago; some fail to recall, and some I still clearly remember. I was going into my first school in America. I had moved from Kenya a long distance from the USA in order to link with my family, who had been here for almost 4 years, expecting America would help my future. My father told me It would be better if I go to school here, so I registered in the local high school in my city. I was frightened how I would do in school as I have never been to school in the US before. First, I met new people with different cultures; second it was a whole new experience for me in which success depended on me, and third it was the first day that I went to school in the US. The time is 8:15, so I run downstairs and find that my family has already cleaned up breakfast, but as usual my mom has left me a waffle to grab as I run out the door. • 22. Benefits Of School Days Have you ever thought of how many more assignments you would be able to complete and how many different activities you would be able to participate in if your school day was shorter? Most students lack at getting the proper amount of sleep due to the fact that they are staying up late to meet assignment deadlines, driving to and from different places to participate in their after–school activities, and spending time with friends and family so that they are not completely rid of a social life outside of the average school day. The individuals have less energy to get up and go to school where they should strive to get good grades, but instead slowly begin to slack off a little more each day because of how long the school day is and how the feeling of being compelled to stay at their desks for seven hours only lowers their desire to want to complete their assignments. This act eventually leads to the students GPA's diminishing and it being almost impossible to bring their grades back up in time. By shortening the school days, understudies wouldn't be as troubled about going to class and their evaluations would be higher. In high school, the average school day should not be extended because students academic achievements, after–school activities, and their social lives are already limited as it is. Lengthening the day would lead to more misuse of resources used during the school day as well as many other negative outcomes. The length of the school day not only stresses out the ... • 23. Longer School Days And More School Days In order for student success to take place the students need to try and actually do their work. They also need to be paying attention to their teacher while the teacher is teaching the lesson. The class did their research by watching a documentary on students who are in an extracurricular activity and the class also read research based articles. The students at Anaheim schools can improve student success if the following take place: schooldays need to be longer, students need to change their mindset, and the students need to be in an extracurricular activity. The Steps There are students in Anaheim schools that aren't really understanding what they're being taught, therefore, they fail the class, and are prone to being a successful student or having a great education. In order to put a stop and help students have an education and make them into successful students, the schools in Anaheim need to have a longer school day. My argument is to have longer school days and more school days in the schools of Anaheim. In Marita's Bargain, Gladwell points out that students are more successful when they're in school for a longer day. "I think that extended amount of time gives you the chance as a teacher to explain things, and more time for kids to sit and digest everything that's going on – to review, to do things at a much slower pace"(10). I walked into Sparkman, following my older sister Hannah, I made it my mission to attach myself to her and clutch her side making every move that she did. When she went to her class and I was forced to go into mine, I was speechless. I was terrified when I walked into my kindergarten classroom for the first time. Thoughts danced in my mind as to what we might learn that day. That is when my teacher, Mrs. Stanford, wrote "Reading" on the board. Although I, as well as many of my classmates, were anxious about the school day reading and writing were challenges ahead of our young minds waiting to be discovered First and foremost, kindergarten was the year we began sounding out words. If I did not know a word or words, I started sounding them out until I came to the conclusion of what the word might be. This action was not always easy, especially on the days of my timed reading test. Not only was I overwhelmed when it came to reading quickly, I panicked. I remember the first reading test; I waited anxiously for my turn and thought that when I got up there, I would "forget how to read." A school shapes the character and attitude of a person. A discussion is ongoing in regard to the need to increasing school hours in the US. Currently in the US, the school day is eight hours long. Unite If a person does well in school the chance that he or she will succeed in life is very high. A good school produce a productive, creative and intellectual human beings who will be useful to their country, society and the world. Other people who don't do well in school will mostly struggle to fulfill their own and their family basic needs. And mostly they will end up doing a hard labor and less paying jobs. One way we can help a student to have a successful life is if the school time would be longer. The length of school influences the amount of information taken and understood by students. There has been information suggesting that the length of the school hour does influence the amount of information taken in. For example, in China the school hours are ten hours in a day and the country in 2014 achieved the highest score in math, science, and language. This shows that the more time allocated to education the more that the students excel and achieve good results. In Russia and the US, schools are only given seven hours a day. • 30. Longer School Days In School Students attending the KIPP academy are most likely going to turn out successful. KIPP Academy is a very helpful especially to students who have a more complicated life. Now, what are Anaheim schools doing that differs from what KIPP Academy is doing. Most students in Anaheim schools arrive late to school. A possibility can be that students do not get to sleep on time and wake up late for school. In order to increase student success at Anaheim schools, students must have longer school days and be able to have enough time to get all the sleep they need to be well rested for school days. To be wide awake in class ready to learn. Students shouldn't get so much break during the summer because they happen to forget what they learned throughout the school year, "The school year in the United States is, on average, 180 days long. The South Korean school year is 220 days long" (9). Having longer and more school days can result in students having what they learned in their minds. They should make a more short amount of summer break so they won't forget everything they learned. Longer school days means that students might not get enough rest but they really should to be able to stay awake in class. If students get longer school days, they shouldn't be given so much homework to do at home so they can get the rest they need from long hours at school, "Sometimes I don't go to sleep when I'm supposed to," Marita continued. I had a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went ... • 32. Essay On School Days In School Anaheim Schools have about 180 days in a school year. That is less than what other schools around the country have. This could be the problem resulting in less student success. In high schools, there are about six periods. Each period is about forty minutes long. This is a short amount of time for teachers to teach a lesson and help students out. It is also difficult when there are a few days of school left and students are trying to raise their grades up. In order to increase student success at Anaheim Schools, there should be more school days and fewer vacation days. Having more school days means that teachers can teach a lesson within two or three days without feeling pressured. It also means that students get to learn more and ask for help. In the essay Marita's Bargain, by Malcolm Gladwell, states, "The only problem with school, for kids who aren't achieving, is that there isn't enough of it" (8). It says how there aren't enough school days for students to be successful. He is pointing out that the school year should have more than 180 days. In Japan, there are 243 days in a school year. Mostly everyone knows that Asians are really smart, so having a longer school year could result in smarter students and better success. This essay talks about a school called KIPP Academy. The administration strongly believes that KIPP Academy helps every one of their students become successful. Students have to sacrifice many things to dedicate all their time to this school. • 33. Last Day Of High School The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will never forget. On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad's truck; I remember telling myself I can't wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more. At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece's first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined. For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn't. During the time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone winded up loving their gifts. Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn't go anywhere; which meant no chores, no being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught on my Netflix shows and my sleep. The week before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Importance Of School Day In American School Length of day in American Schools The American Educational system, which many of us students have become familiar with, did not come about instantaneously. What we have now is the result of many decades of development and policy–making in legislation. Though Parochial schools were used in the U.S. as early as 1750, and Government–funded public schools began cropping up after the Revolutionary war, our educational system's pace of development was relatively slow up until around the mid–19th century when the first states began passing laws that made schooling compulsory to all those who had the opportunity to attend. By the early 1900s, twelve years of education became the standard across the nation, a standard that has withstood the test of time and is still in place today. The average school day in the U.S. is 6.5 hours, and students are expected to attend 180 total days of school per grade term. To supplement this, on average the U.S. spends more per capita on education than any other country in the world. Though we spend much, the results don't directly translate to nation–wide success in schools. In 2014, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in education. Many attribute this to the average length of the school day in America, and others propose an overall increase in total instructional hours within American schools. As stated earlier, the average school day in America is 6.5 hours long, beginning at around 7:30am and ending between 2 to 3pm. Within this time, students are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Descriptive School Day School Day I've told this story many times before and to this day, I have not run out of questions. It was a regular school day, nothing was out of the ordinary. I woke up at five in the morning, showered, brushed my teeth, got dressed and waited for my mom to finish getting ready while I played video games, as I do every day. The drive to school was just like every other drive to school. Mom was asking questions, trying to get some intel on my life, just like any other mother of a 16 year old teen. When we drove past school I felt weird. There was a pit in my stomach; I felt nervous. It was the same feeling that you'd get on the first day of school. I walked in and I saw Elizabeth. Elizabeth has been my crush since the sixth grade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I quickly rushed to the window, when I did everyone started yelling at me telling me not to, but I needed to. My sister was on her lunch break and I had no idea where she was and what I saw, when I looked out the window worried me even more. Everyone out there looked terrified there were flashes everywhere, bodies falling, people crying, others rushing to find a spot to hide and there was nothing anyone could've done to help out. Our teacher locked us in the room and told us to hide. I was crying hysterically, but I needed to pull myself together. Elizabeth was next to me, panicking and I needed to help her. We were hiding under the teacher's desk, when we heard all the shooting stop all together. Afterwards we hear loud knocking, it was a girl begging to be let in. We didn't understand why she was being so loud, if she was trying to get away from those psychotic murders. Maybe it was just the paranoia in me, but I got that same sense that something terrible was about to happen. I began to question, if she was trying to get us caught or something. Why did she choose our class out of all the others? Our class was all the way at the end of the hallway, at the very front of the hallway, there was an intersection to the other hallway. The bathrooms were in that other hallway, if she was in the bathroom when this went down, why didn't she go to one of those other classes in that hallway or the first ... • 36. Day School Week Have you heard about many schools going to a four day school week and why they would, so by changing the school week to four days it can save money, help teachers, and give students and teachers better morale. When the teachers are at school planning they get that extra day to do so, therefore they are more confident in the way they are teaching their classes. Colby Public Schools should adopt the four day school system because the cost for transportation and meals will be cheaper, the shorter week will give both the students and teachers more time to do studies or do other things in their social life, and while the students are off doing other things the teachers can plan for the week. To begin, Colby Public Schools should go to a four day school week because it will help the teachers with their planning times. According to Sage International School in Boise Idaho the four day school week has helped with teachers and they are using it for extensive professional development. Zach Parker is a history teacher at that school and he said "they share new teaching strategies that reflect on which ones have worked well in their classrooms. That time allows us to steer the boat in the direction we see fit, and feel more respected as educators." Having the four day school week also helps the retention of teacher recruitment because more teachers would rather work four days with students than five and they use that extra day for either a day of rest or day of planning/grading. • 37. My School Day It was a Friday morning, Mom just pulled into the parking lot to walk me into school. I was so ready to get the day over with because I had a spelling test that I did not wanna take. As my mom was walking with me into school, she told me after school she would pick me up and we would go to the mall to finish our Christmas shopping for my Dad and brother. I just loved going to the mall because they had built this brand new toy store in the mall that was jam–packed with toys like Legos, Batman action figures, and the newest video games for my Nintendo DS. I walked into the cafeteria where I was supposed to meet my class in the mornings at and saw my best friend Jack. Jack was my best friend since birth because our moms were best friends. ... Mrs. Roig then stopped the test and rushed to the door to lock it, cover the door window, and shut off the lights since the first grade hall was the hall closest to the main office. Mrs. Roig then asked all of us to quietly move into the bathroom in the class. There was 16 of us in my class so for all of us to be in her tiny bathroom was very uncomfortable. I was very scared. I thought that the crazy man could break into the room and kill all of us at any second. I could hear everyone in the bathroom wanting to cry but having to hold it back so he wouldn't hear us if he was nearby. Suddenly I hear footsteps coming towards our door but then passes it. I had a suspicion that it was the man then I heard more gunshots from classrooms down the hallway and knew it was him. About 3 minutes later was when I heard the last gunshot, it sounded like it was in the empty conference room at the very end of the hall. We stayed in the bathroom for about another 15 minutes then a big police man enters our room and walked us out of the school. We all ran to the firehouse near the school as fast as we can because we didn't know if the shooting was still happening or not. When I got to the fire station I started looking for my mom or dad with tears filling in my eyes. I saw a lot of my friends and classmates on the couches watching Spongebob on the TV that one of the adults turned on as a way to calm us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Personal Narrative Essay : A Day In My School One day I was sitting on the couch playing games and texting my friends on my phone, and then my dad came home and was knocking on the door. I was thinking in my head he will die, he will leave for 1 or more year, and he will never come back. My dad started knocking on my room door. "can you open up, please".My dad said. I said why out of all the jobs you pick this one. I heard "beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep" I opened my door and ran to my mom and she asked me what happened. I told her dad joined in the army. • 39. Benefits Of School Day The average school day is 7–8 hours and I think it's just the right amount of time we need for school. But the school board wants to add one and half hours to our school day, and I don't think it's necessary. We shouldn't add time to our school day, it will have so much negative effect on our student that I don't think it's worth it. After all, we already have a negative impact on how long our school days are. For example; most of the time we are sitting and research has shown our generation is 125% more likely to get diabetes, heart disease and other heart attacks just from us sitting down, and adding an hour and thirty minutes will only make it worse because we're sitting most for most of the day. But this is not the only negative effect of having longer school days. It will not only take us longer to get home, but it will be more difficult because of the program some people are in, they couldn't ride regular school buses because they would have already dropped off the high school students and would have been on their way home, and the people who go to these programs (Academy 360) will have to make their bus drive longer to get home because they will probably have to catch different buses, and the student will be more tired and not be able to work to their absolute best abilities, because they are usually out of school at this time and their brains are out of learning mode and into relaxing mode. The first problem with longer school days is you couldn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Day School Week Having a day off of school or work is something many people wish for. However, that wish is coming true for many across the U.S! Four–day school weeks are a growing trend that has become increasingly popular in recent times. We should have four–day school weeks because it brings higher student and teacher morale, it allows students to have an extra day away from school, and it helps decrease budget spending. Although there are skeptics of the four–day school week, there are no known negative effects of this four–day schedule. One of the best reasons to cut the school week to four days in the increase in morale among both students and teachers. A study on the district of Peach County, Georgia showed that disciplinary issues were down by a whopping 40%, which is believed to be caused by the reduced stress brought by four–day school weeks. Also, a study in the Melstone District of Montana showed that absences decreased by about 20%, which means that students have do not have to be nearly as stressed about make–up work as often. Another way a four–day schedule can increase morale is teachers will not have to be as stressed about grading work and preparing lessons due to the extra day off they obtain to fit those parts of their job into their own time. Lastly, surveys on both teachers and students show overwhelming support in favor of the four–day school week with about 90% of teachers favoring it and about 80% of students favoring the schedule change.
