* Research Tool – is a specific mechanism or strategy the researcher uses to collect, manipulate, or
interpret data. * Research Methodology – is the general approach the researcher takes in carrying
out the research project, to some extent, this approach dictates the particular tools that the researcher
selects.

mean, standard deviation, and product moment correlation. * Ratio Scale – enables one also to
determine the geometric mean and percentage variation.
* VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF MEASUREMENT
Validity – the validity of a measurement instrument is the extent to which the instrument measures
what it is supposed to measure.
Reliability – is the consistency with which a measuring instrument yields a certain result when the
entity being measured hasn't changed. To apply these concepts to social research, we want to use
measurement tools that are both reliable and valid. We want questions that yield consistent
responses when asked multiple times – this is reliability. Similarly, we want questions that get
accurate responses from respondents – this is validity.

Literature Review
Libraries have a long history towards the ancient world as places used to keep important records
such as clay tablets, transcripts and many texts. Many records were destroyed in the course of wars
or purposely by some rulers with the changes in government. As a result, writing of literature as well
as record keeping was encouraged where classification schemes were initiated to preserve those
records of all times. The first formal classification was categorizing the writings into four types, the
classics, history, philosophy and miscellaneous works. (Library, 2016). However, these broad
categories didn't help much in guiding to access the increasing collection. The result was,
introducing Dewey Decimal Classification as a scheme for the classification of the documents/
materials. (Library, 2016).
Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC)
DDC was an invention of Melvil Dewey in 1876. He was an Assistant Librarian at Amherst College
when he published DDC as "A Classification and subject index for cataloging and arranging the
books pamphlets of a library". (Yoon, J. 2014). The system was formulated to organize the contents
of the library based on the subject areas divided into 10 main groups where each group is given 100

under classifications of history as well as music. For example, the provided Library of Congress
Classification number shows it categorized with folk music from the American Indians and the
Dewey Decimal Classification makes no reference to the musical aspect instead emphasizing the
ties to the Creek Indians. This is problematic because if someone is not aware of the full topic or
title and is seeking the book, they may disregard the music and be unable to locate the book in their
search. Retrieval requires solid metadata, especially in these instances where one subject or
classification is not enough to adequately describe the "aboutness" of the work. This is one argument

sovereignty for its citizens (Britannica, 3). It is evident to note that as societies became increasingly
heterogeneous, a cross–class alliance forms, thus disempowering actors who stood external from the
public sphere such as women and people of colour. Nonetheless, economic power silences the
marginalized (Guidry and Sawyer, 274). Participating in political ventures appeared to only validate
those who belonged to the elite. That is to say, public spheres tend to benefit dominant groups while
denying the subordinate groups from debating their needs, objectives and strategies, thus depriving
them of fulfilling their zoon politikon. An example of the exclusion of subordinate groups is
exhibited in Hannah Arendt's novel, The Human Condition (1958). Arendt identifies 3 fundamental
sectors which she believes defines the human nature of being. The categories of labor, work and
action exist as the main focus of her perceptions of scopes that directs human nature. Positioning
action as the leading step to reaching plurality, expanding the public sphere and acquiring eternal
freedom, she trivializes labor and work as classifications of "sub–humans" arguing that people who

The Afrikaners created the National Party and this ethnic group of dominantly white politicians
became fearful of the South Africans as numerically they were out– numbered. In order to remain
the dominant group and continue to hold political power, the Dutch Afrikaners created 317
government laws which were related to ethnic segregation and restrictions based upon race. The
purpose for creating the discriminating laws were to maintain the white domination of the society
and laws were designed to acknowledge the rights of the white people but at the same time deny the

In fiscal year 2014 it is very clear that there needs to be a better reporting of all of the materials that
are owned and are held by the Air Force. It is important to make sure that there is a complete
accounting of all of the materials such as parts, ammunition, and other items that belong to the air
force so that it will be possible to ensure that in any location there is no issue that the materials will
be in the hands of anyone else. The allocation is supposed to serve through departmental roles, with
the chiefs of each department consenting to any requested sub–budgetary allocation requested by the
service men and women in their departments. The offices include the operations office, the general
counsel's office, the information and communication office and the human resource office. All
actions that will be recommended for this case might not show specific dates, since the military
requires a series of approval steps for any implementation, and delays might occur. In addition, the
air force is sometimes caught up in emergency situation that lead to freezing operations for security
purposes. It also leads to delays and rechanneling of allocated budgets to the emergency situation.
