Performance expectations are clearly presented and appropriately defined in the job description. The
performance of the account executives should be measured using a combination of the behavior
approach and the results approach with an emphasis on the results approach. An emphasis should be
placed on the results approach because of the job description, but most employees prefer a
combination approach for performance evaluations. The results approach is most appropriate for
measuring the account executives' job performance because the employees are already skilled in the
necessary behaviors. In their positions, account executives can only achieve results if they practice
certain behavior. They know what to do to get the job done because this type of job requires
employees who already have the needed skills (Aguinis,

Students At The University Of Wisconsin Madison
Students often do not take advantage of the opportunities available to them in the wider community
because of a wide variety of engagement and extra–curricular opportunities offered on college
campuses.
Students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison can take advantage of the campus' urban location
to explore and build connections with the local community, in addition to furthering skills gained
from the classroom.
At college, students are often surrounded by others who are similar to them – mostly between ages
of 18 and 22, pursuing a college education and beyond. The homogeneity within the campus bubble
can make students forget what the real world is like.
"You're really missing something if you just come here for school and you don't step off of campus
and explore living in a brand new place on your own," Ashley Viager, Assistant Director of
Chadbourne Residential College, said.
It is also important to understand that community extends beyond campus to the entire city,
Stephanie Harrill, Badger Volunteers director, said. This is especially beneficial during a time of
growth and development at a higher education institution. This kind of awareness allows for
students to not only make the best out of their college experience but also contribute and help their
communities to better the environment around them.
Community engagement also gives students the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts into the
real world to consolidate knowledge in a way that classroom

Air Pollution In The Madison Area
Madison, the south–central, mid–sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a
beautiful rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016).
Madison spills into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the "Madison
Area." Historically speaking, Madison was home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe
(Madison: History n.d.). The surrounding lakes made the area a convenient place to settle. Around
1829, a man named James Doty bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make
Madison, named after the fourth president, the new capital city (Time, B.T n.d.).
Currently, Madison is the one of the only "two U.S cities built on an isthmus," which is a narrow

Everything from plants, animals to humans can be categorized within the biosphere. Everything
"from three meters below the ground to thirty meters above it" encompasses the biosphere
(Rosenberg 2014). The suitable environment makes it easy for plants and animals of all variety to
live in the area. The distribution of plants depends on the landscape of the area. In the depths of the
capital city, there are not many natural occurring plants. Further out into the peripheries, one would
notice more green of fields and forestry. The Madison Area is also home to many animal species
such as, moles, opossums, and raccoons that live in the wooded, outskirts of Madison. While there
are multiple species of fish, turtles and frogs that live in the surrounding wetlands, such as the lakes,
rivers and ponds. The harsh winters lead to the "biggest challenges for most wildlife" because of the
"dry conditions, reduced food sources, and cold temperatures" (Wisconsin Department n.d.).
Being in the Midwest, it is not common for major hazards, such as hurricanes or earthquakes that
need to be managed or promptly executed in the case of an emergency. There is the yearly tornado
season that rolls around near June and occasional flooding if the summer is not dry. The biggest
obstacle that will affect the physical geography, specifically the biosphere, is the rapid rate of
population growing and then having to accommodate living spaces for new

Personal Narrative: My School Spirit Of Wisconsin
My initial draw to Wisconsin was the Big 10 atmosphere and its proximity to home. The
environment in which I will spend the next four years is one of the most important aspects I look for
in a college. I could definitely see myself at home in Madison. The spirit for the school runs deep
throughout the student body, and I would feel very comfortable at a place where passion for the
school is contagious. A strong example of this school spirit is my cousin, who graduated from
Wisconsin about eight years ago. I have never seen an alum so enthusiastic about their school. From
the sports to the social scene to the new research grant, he has spent hours trying to convince me to
go to Madison. It is just one example, but after visiting last winter

The Importance Of Transitioning To College
Thinking about the future can be nerve wracking and even somewhat intimidating. Transitioning
from a school where everyone knows their peers and has an overall routine to a place that is all new
can be difficult for many, especially in the beginning. However, by taking mentally challenging
classes in high school, as well as planning for what lies ahead, it has been said to be a much easier
transition. There are countless paths one can take after senior year, allowing individuals to make one
of the most important decisions of their lives; thus preparing them for adulthood and independence.
Nonetheless, even with all of these options and the considerable amount of time I have left in my
high school career, I have decided on going to college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good writing skills are crucial for my future plans because of college applications, essays, and even
lab reports. Although UW–Madison is my top choice, I am not automatically guaranteed in. I will
need to write two essays for my application, which is probably the most important section.
Furthermore, since papers and essays are usually worth a lot of points, I will need to continue
practicing writing throughout high school so my grades won't drop both now and in the future.
Likewise, since I am going into the science field, I will need to write a lot of lab reports. However,
my reports won't be successful if they aren't thorough and clear; therefore, I must learn how to
improve my writing skills as well as be able to retain these new skills.
Ever since I started preschool, I have been preparing for graduation. I have learned many skills and
even some useless information that made me curious about the world, which is why I care so much
about school today. All these years of schooling, which has provided both academic as well as social
improvements, has helped me construct the characteristics I now possess. These qualities, as well as
continually learning by trial and error, are what will make me the successful individual I wish to be.
I am glad that I am now capable to take my overall knowledge and focus it on my true passion,
which is

An Internship At The Aging And Disability Resource Center
Have you ever wondered how businesses can keep track of and manage many different records?
For the past semester, I have been doing an internship at the Aging and Disability Resource
Center of Door County. During my time there, I have seen the receptionist area full of records that
will need to stored. Sometimes the amount of paperwork waiting to be stored seems overwhelming.
For my final, I interviewed Wendy Schubert, the office receptionist at Door County Aging and
Disability Resource Center. Our interview consists of the following eight questions:
To get the interview started off, I first asked Wendy to identify the types of records and how they are
stored. Her response was "we have physical records and electronic records. Our physical ... Show

Moving on to question three, I ask "what filing systems are used: alphabetical, subject, geographic?"
Wendy answered, "Well, we mainly use alphabetical. As I said before, we use subject and location to
label folders, but inside those folders are arranged in alphabetical order. The Social Assistant
Management System (SAMs) account and SchedulePlus system can be set to quarry by first or last
name, phone numbers, location, birthday and even poverty levels. Our hard copies that need to be
scanned don't have an order, we just put them in a folder and scan them when we can."
I then asked "what types of records management supplies are used and why? Are the current
supplies adequate for usage?" Wendy thought for a second and then replied, "with our physical
records we use hanging folders, folders, and folder labels, paper and pens. We're transitioning to
electronic files, but for now, yes the supplies is adequate."
For question five, I asked Wendy "what types of equipment is being used? Is the current equipment
adequate for usage?" Wendy answered "we use computers, hard drives and space, a printer that can

dome stadium of this capacity of 65,000 seats, give or take, it could have an enormous economic
impact on the community. You are talking about significant visitor volume increases that would
come as a result of that, different events that they have spoke of, as it relates to a potential NLF

Uh, the idea that David Beckham brought up about bringing Mantris United here for a potential

a big economic impact and community pride impact on the community, if in fact you can make the

Well, Las Vegas has a great reputation, as far as being a tourist center, but Las Vegas has morphed

Descriptive Essay On Autographs
As I pull in the parking lot of Ray Nitschke Field seeing all the Green Bay Packer fans dressed in
their green and gold walking on the sidewalks or sitting on the shiny silver bleachers in the practice
field. (Imagery) I am thinking of where I am going to set my stuff up and stay there. I am also
thinking of the main guys that I want to get autographs from. Getting autographs isn't an easy
process, some days it is the same temperature as it is in Texas during the summer (Simile) for two
and a half hours, outside not doing anything besides waiting for the buzzer to blow, allowing the
Packer players to come out off the practice field. Since it is a great day to watch a Packers practice,

to sit for a couple hours. I hear people around me saying "Here comes someone on a bike," or
someone asking me "Hey, do you know who number 64 is?" As i'm thinking to myself who I really
want to try and get, my heart is pounding of excitement. Around 15 minutes before the practice,
everyone has their memorabilia in their hand and is waiting for the players to come out. Finally, you
can see someone come down the road very slowly on a bike with their dark green jersey and helmet.

Pros And Cons Of Banning The Daily Stormer
While banning The Daily Stormer may not prevent them from creating another outlet to spread
negativity, there are still pro's that come from it. One pro that would come out of banning The Daily
Stormer is that there would be one less outlet spreading hateful messages. Furthermore, there would
be no basis of meaning set out on how to treat others. Banning The Daily Stormer also shows that
companies are willing to step up and speak out on what they believe in. This could also defer future
hate groups by creating fear of also being shut down. Even though there are other ways to go about
getting rid of people who spread hatred towards other groups of people who are not their own, I
think that the web platforms had the right to deny access to The Daily Stormer if they feared that
any other way could lead to more chaos. I believe that by The Daily Stormer being denied on web ...

I think that the Daily Stormer should be able to freely express their opinions, whether other people
agree with them or not. People should be able to have a civilized debate about the things that they
may not agree upon. In my opinion, it is wrong and unjust to punish people for expressing their
views, however controversial they may be. As members of a society, we should accept that not
everyone is going to agree with us, and getting angry or trying to silence someone because they have
different beliefs is simply barbaric. It is important that one learns to listen to different perspectives
about the world. With that being said, I think sometimes it is very hard for humans to separate their
emotions from logic, and when that happens you can't communicate. Admittedly, the Neo–Nazis

The building itself is a large white structure with a massive rotunda and four wings coming off the

Reflection On What I Have Learned About Myself And UW-Madison
I hope all is going well back home in small–town, rural Wisconsin. I am writing to you the discuss
and reflect upon what I have learned about myself and UW–Madison and how I can utilize those
different lessons I've learned to make the most out of my Wisconsin Experience and eventually
achieve my personal and professional goals. First and foremost, I cannot begin to start with how
radically different this university and the diversity up here is compared to what I am accustomed to
back home. Walking the streets here was definitely a culture shock for me at first. The different
races and beliefs here were almost overwhelming to begin with, especially after one of our house
meetings discussing those topics. Being around only one–thousand people my whole life, who all
shared similar beliefs in many ways put a little shell around me. If someone was slightly different
than everyone else, they were judged and sometimes severely bullied for just being themselves. I am
so very thankful for the "eye–opening" that the University of Wisconsin–Madison has provided for
me. It not only will allow me to see things with a different perspective, but it will also give me a
new appreciation for all walks of life. The history of high academia and prestigious standings
throughout the country was also a bit intimidating at first. It was hard for me to think that I could
make it amongst tens of thousands of other bright individuals, but I am confident that I am slowly
finding my place, my reason for coming to this university. Being able to be amongst some of the
smartest individuals in the United States has humbled me immensely. Back home, I was considered
the smartest of the smart, earning high honors in all academics. Here, though, I am merely average.
But, I am going to be working every day to set myself aside from others by finding the thing that I
truly excel in and what makes me special. I cannot wait to begin my courses away from gen–eds,
and start specializing in the Kinesiology field. Overall, I know that these ideas will help me find my
purpose here at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and what makes me a true badger at heart.
The immense size of this campus has also taught me a great deal in self–advocacy. You know

the grade showed that my hard work had paid off. I was not only happy that I had gotten a gotten a

The Great Northwoods Essay
The Great Northwoods
As with all things, the history of an event does not begin at its conception. With this in mind, it is
my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the
Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with
the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet.
These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as
Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European
nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. In

With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the government to
purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great forests of Wisconsin.
Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the government became
determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the
years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for
many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the
government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a
National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The years immediately proceeding World War II
brought back economic security for many, and left a legacy of many industrial accomplishments as
well as non–industrial accomplishments such as the Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the
manner that I have chosen to write this paper was presented to me by my sources. Of the few
sources that I was able to garner dealing solely with the Nicolet National Forest, each followed the
same general outline. And, since importance was stressed upon these areas already by established
historians, I felt that it should not be ignored.
The first major exploration that bears particular relevance to the Nicolet National Forest begins with

Robert La Follette My name is Robert Marion La Follette and I was born in Primrose, Wisconsin, on
June 14, 1855. I worked as a farm laborer in a rural environment and entered the University of
Wisconsin in 1875. I began my political career as a county district attorney in 1880 and later I was
elected into Congress in 1884. I was defeated for reelection to Congress in 1890 after three terms so
I returned to Madison, Wisconsin and practiced law.
It was in 1891 when I began my fight against corporate powers and political corruption. United
States Senator Philetus Sawyer offered me a bribe to fix a court case and I was infuriated with his

Robert La Follette started his fight against political corruption because he was offered a bribe by
U.S. Senator Philetus Sawyer which infuriated La Follette.
To what extent was the reformer obsessed with achieving an impractical goal through fanatical or

As governor of Wisconsin, he tried to pass several Progressive reforms which were turned down and
blocked by the state legislature, so he'd threaten to publicly expose to the citizens how the legislators
voted on key issues. Threatening them usually turned out to be successful as it got many of La
Follette's reforms passed.

Personal Narrative: My Experience At University Of...
University of Wisconsin–Madison was, quite honestly, not even on my radar for post high school
education until I toured the school. Growing up in a house where instead of "family game night" we
had "family gopher night", it never seemed like a viable option for me to attend. I was taught that
the only colors that mattered were maroon and gold, and the only colors that didn't were black and
badger red. The tour in itself came as a surprise, my mom being the advocate for it and my dad
strongly disagreeing. We made the 285 mile trek, and I was immediately in love with the campus.
The tour sold the school to me even more and I knew that Madison was automatically one of my
favorites. When my dad got wind of my new–found love, he was less than disappointed.

Frank Lloyd Wright Research Paper
A man of many talents and disciplines, Frank Lloyd Wright is arguably one of the most creative
architects of the 20th century. Even before he was born, his mother, Anna Lloyd Jones claimed that
her child would build beautiful buildings. To prepare for Wright's arrival, Jones decorated his
nursery with engravings of English Cathedrals from periodicals to motivate him as an infant. On
June 8, 1867, Lloyd was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. However, after three years, the family
moved to Weymouth Massachusetts because Wright's Father, William Wright, was a baptist minister
who wanted to minster a small congregation.
While living in Weymouth, Jones bought a set of educational blocks designed by Friedrich Wilhelm
August Fröbel known as Froebel gifts. Known for the different colors and shapes, Jones hoped that
it would spark some kind of creativity in Wright. Fortunately, it did. Wright distinctly remembers
playing with the blocks and wrote in his autobiography about it. He writes, "For several years I sat
at the little Kindergarten table–top... and played... with the cube, the sphere and the triangle–these
smooth wooden maple blocks... All are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

became unhappy because of this. When Frank Wright was fourteen years old, William Wright and
Anna Jones separated. Unfortunately, William was able to sue Jones for lack of physical affection.
Once the divorce was finalized, William Wright left Wisconsin and Frank Wright never saw his
father again. It was at this point where Frank Wright changed his name from Frank Lincoln Wright

In any case, this body (the precursor of the U.W. driving assortment of authorities) never truly
refined anything Wisconsin was joined as a state in 1848. The Wisconsin Constitution obliged "the
establishment of a state school, at or near the seat of state government..." and guided by the state
lawmaking body to be spoken to by a main assemblage of authorities and coordinated by a
Chancellor. On July 26, 1846, Nelson Dewey, Wisconsin's first representative, denoted the
exhibition that formally made the University of Wisconsin. John H. Lathrop transformed into the
school's first chancellor, in the fall of 1849. With John W. Sterling as the school's first educator

A conversation ingrained in my memory involved two adolescent boys from San Antonio
Independent School District (SAISD). When asked about their future ambitions, one student
casually responded that he would "go to prison like his father." The other expressed a desire to rise
above his inner city milieu, but had little sense his abilities or of his options. In stark contrast,
students from Alamo Heights, an affluent neighboring district, held ambitions to become doctors,
lawyers, and politicians, and demonstrated an understanding of the prerequisites for their desired
career path. The graduation rate of Alamo Heights stood at 98% while SAISD's graduation rate
lingered around 60%. The contrast between these two districts grows more disturbing when
considered through the lens of racial equality. While SAISD's population is 98% minority, the Anglo
population in Alamo Heights totals slightly over 55%. Yet, 74% of Alamo Heights graduates achieve
a four–year college diploma, while only 4% percent of SAISD alumni attain a bachelor's degree. An
opportunity gap results from this discrepancy, ultimately proving detrimental to social mobility.

am not sure how I persevered at such a young age. At the beginning of that week, my mother

many bags of goldfish that I could carry, and some clothes and shoved it all in my backpack. While
quickly walking to the car, I asked my mother in an out–of–breath tone, where we were going and
she replied "to the stadium, hun." I couldn't believe it, I was so excited to be going to the
Superdome. I remember always wanting to go to a game there with my father to watch our favorite

Environmental Dangers Of Mining
Mining has shaped much of the world today and remains a vital part of history. Without mining,
many technologies would either be in scarce supply or not exist at all. With mining, humans have
been able to collect a plethora of minerals and substances that still have many uses today. Despite
the great things that mining has done for humankind, there are many people that see mining as a
danger to the environment and the economy. Waste products and other pollutants caused or created
from mining can have harmful effects on the surrounding environment. The economy is also an
issue as mining is not as profitable as it once was. Despite these views, many mining companies still
believe that mining can bring profitable results while still keeping the environment safe. With the
recent undertaking of the Back Forty Project, concerns have been raised over the issues of the
possible environmental dangers of mining near water sources and the impact (or lack thereof) on the
economy. One of the biggest issues many people have with mining are the environmental dangers
that it can bring. One such group, the Mining Action Group, claims that the Back Forty Project is
hazardous to the nearby Menominee River. The Back Forty Project is a polymetallic sulfide mine, a
type of mine composed of reactive ore and rocks that when exposed to air or water can form sulfuric
acid. This can then "...generate low–quality water containing elevated concentrations of SO (sub 4),

The Classical Utilitarianism Line Combined With Rational...
There are some questions in this life we will ask and never receive an answer to. Not because the
questioned simply does not want to answer but perhaps because they cannot answer. This theory
falls into the classical utilitarianism line combined with rational choice theory (Barkan p. 93). In
researching Edward Theodore Gein, I discovered this is one of those cases where "Why" never came
to pass and he took to his own grave those unanswered questions. Did these acts of crime and
necrophilia arise from the clear dysfunctional home life and upbringing or was Ed Gein simply a
psychopath?
How he came to be. Born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to George Philip and

One must ask how much hereditary influence from his mother was a factor in Geins' rational choice
theory. Nature versus the lack of nurture in the upbringing of Ed Gein and his brother. "Nonetheless,
offenders still make decisions that appear rational to them at the time they make them (Barkan, p.
96)."
Theory Analysis
Ed Gein deeply desired to please his mother above all else. Augusta Gein an archaic Lutheran
controlled her sons to the extreme. Ed did attend public school however he was an outcast and often
bullied by other students. Despite the mistreatment, he managed to do well in and enjoyed school.
When Ed tried to socialize at school this did not please his mother and anytime Ed tried to make
friends, his mother scolded him. The isolation from any other outside influences could not have been
healthy and added to his insecurities in an everyday social lifestyle. Gein was often described as a
loner, awkward and aloof. Augusta read to both her sons daily from the Old Testament Bible from
scripture usually graphic in nature with versus dealing with death, murder and divine retribution.
Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with harsh criticism and she
was rarely pleased with her sons. She often scolded them and verbally abused them by telling them
they were going to end up disappointments like their father (Woods, 1995).

1. "In light of the entire transaction as it was outlined to them by Wisconsin, did First Midwestern

First Midwestern was a well–known bank and has a good relationship with Wisconsin for several
years. In my opinion the bank did not provide the correct advice to Wisconsin in structuring and
financing the transaction. One of the main reason was, because Wisconsin did not advised their bank
with all the details and negotiations happened between them and Vietnamese buyers. The

Also as mentioned above they were not fully aware of the side agreement of buying back the
finished polished gems by Wisconsin. Also they accepted the drafts and made full payment to the
applicant, which I suggest they shouldn't do. Because the price of the gems went down and also the
issuing bank who bought the drafts from Midwestern are unable to collect the money from the
buyers. As Wisconsin denied the side agreement with the Vietnamese buyers and there was no
clause present for that in the drafts, Midwestern cannot claim the money.

Letter of guarantee is a type of commitment from the bank on behalf of its customers (buyer) to the
third party (suppliers) and Promises to meet any financial obligations in case the customers fails to
fulfill the requirement of the contract. The risks that Wisconsin faced when they agree to accept the
letter of guarantee and ship the goods under it includes currency risk, commercial risk, risk of
nonpayment.
One of the commercial risk involved the quality of goods delivered. When the Wisconsin made its
first delivery to Saigon jewels, they indicated that not all of the jade gems received are of good
quality. So, the delivered goods did not match the expectations of buyers. The other commercial risk
Wisconsin faced was nonpayment and non–delivery or delay in

Restaurant Snarf: A Short Story
I've just received notice of an emergency mission that we're assigned to. There's a girl on the loose,

information we're missing in order to crack the case. The most recent report states she was last

weeks ago, so I'm certain she's traveled much farther by now. It's also been disclosed that she loves

she's faced plenty of struggles being only fourteen, but apparently she's had experience overcoming

Senator Joseph R. McCarthy Even though he had humble beginnings, Joseph Raymond McCarthy, a
single man, made a profound effect on the entire United States during his career. By following his
life and what shaped McCarthy as an individual, a broader picture is brought into the scope of the
cause of his false accusations. In the year 1908, in the northeast region of Wisconsin on a struggling
farm, a devout Roman Catholic couple brought a their son, Joseph Raymond, into the world. The
McCarthy's, an Irish–American family, were hard working and industrious on their farm in a rural
area of Wisconsin. Joseph attended a one–room schoolhouse as a boy. He was noted to be a very
intelligent child, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the next three years McCarthy worked in Appleton, Wisconsin at a private practice. At this
office, McCarthy made constant efforts to gain publicity for himself. Even though the town was
composed of a mere 3,000 people, McCarthy had more ambitions than just getting by in a one–horse
town. McCarthy studied his fellow lawyers' strategies in the court room and "kept his office open
evenings to attract clients." (19, The Life and Times of Joe McCarthy) McCarthy was sure to be at
local events and join up with charities. McCarthy wanted attention and wanted to be noticed. In
1936, McCarthy made his first venture into politics in a race for district attorney. He came in second
in this attempt; however, McCarthy ran for judge of the 10th circuit court in 1938. The second time
around, McCarthy threw himself into his campaign with a seemingly endless amount of energy. In a
state–wide effort to boost his public appeal, McCarthy made speeches touting his slogan "Justice is
Truth in Action." McCarthy won the election. However, once McCarthy attained his position, he
totally disregarded his responsibilities. He set a frantic pace that he maintained the whole term,
racing through cases and ignoring traditional procedures. Joseph was known to later use the slogan
"Justice delayed is justice denied" to support his fast pace. (35, The Life and Times of Joe
McCarthy) Finally, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard about McCarthy

Performance expectations are clearly presented and appropriately defined in the job description. The performance of the account executives should be measured using a combination of the behavior approach and the results approach with an emphasis on the results approach. An emphasis should be placed on the results approach because of the job description, but most employees prefer a combination approach for performance evaluations. The results approach is most appropriate for measuring the account executives' job performance because the employees are already skilled in the necessary behaviors. • 3. Students At The University Of Wisconsin Madison Students often do not take advantage of the opportunities available to them in the wider community because of a wide variety of engagement and extra–curricular opportunities offered on college campuses. Students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison can take advantage of the campus' urban location to explore and build connections with the local community, in addition to furthering skills gained from the classroom. At college, students are often surrounded by others who are similar to them – mostly between ages of 18 and 22, pursuing a college education and beyond. The homogeneity within the campus bubble can make students forget what the real world is like. "You're really missing something if you just come here for school and you don't step off of campus and explore living in a brand new place on your own," Ashley Viager, Assistant Director of Chadbourne Residential College, said. It is also important to understand that community extends beyond campus to the entire city, Stephanie Harrill, Badger Volunteers director, said. This is especially beneficial during a time of growth and development at a higher education institution. This kind of awareness allows for students to not only make the best out of their college experience but also contribute and help their communities to better the environment around them. Community engagement also gives students the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts into the real world to consolidate knowledge in a way that classroom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Air Pollution In The Madison Area Madison, the south–central, mid–sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a beautiful rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016). Madison spills into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the "Madison Area." Historically speaking, Madison was home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe (Madison: History n.d.). The surrounding lakes made the area a convenient place to settle. Around 1829, a man named James Doty bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make Madison, named after the fourth president, the new capital city (Time, B.T n.d.). Currently, Madison is the one of the only "two U.S cities built on an isthmus," which is a narrow section ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything from plants, animals to humans can be categorized within the biosphere. Everything "from three meters below the ground to thirty meters above it" encompasses the biosphere (Rosenberg 2014). The suitable environment makes it easy for plants and animals of all variety to live in the area. The distribution of plants depends on the landscape of the area. In the depths of the capital city, there are not many natural occurring plants. Further out into the peripheries, one would notice more green of fields and forestry. The Madison Area is also home to many animal species such as, moles, opossums, and raccoons that live in the wooded, outskirts of Madison. While there are multiple species of fish, turtles and frogs that live in the surrounding wetlands, such as the lakes, rivers and ponds. The harsh winters lead to the "biggest challenges for most wildlife" because of the "dry conditions, reduced food sources, and cold temperatures" (Wisconsin Department n.d.). Being in the Midwest, it is not common for major hazards, such as hurricanes or earthquakes that need to be managed or promptly executed in the case of an emergency. There is the yearly tornado season that rolls around near June and occasional flooding if the summer is not dry. The environment in which I will spend the next four years is one of the most important aspects I look for in a college. I could definitely see myself at home in Madison. The spirit for the school runs deep throughout the student body, and I would feel very comfortable at a place where passion for the school is contagious. A strong example of this school spirit is my cousin, who graduated from Wisconsin about eight years ago. I have never seen an alum so enthusiastic about their school. From the sports to the social scene to the new research grant, he has spent hours trying to convince me to go to Madison. It is just one example, but after visiting last winter ... Transitioning from a school where everyone knows their peers and has an overall routine to a place that is all new can be difficult for many, especially in the beginning. However, by taking mentally challenging classes in high school, as well as planning for what lies ahead, it has been said to be a much easier transition. There are countless paths one can take after senior year, allowing individuals to make one of the most important decisions of their lives; thus preparing them for adulthood and independence. Nonetheless, even with all of these options and the considerable amount of time I have left in my high school career, I have decided on going to college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Good writing skills are crucial for my future plans because of college applications, essays, and even lab reports. Although UW–Madison is my top choice, I am not automatically guaranteed in. I will need to write two essays for my application, which is probably the most important section. Furthermore, since papers and essays are usually worth a lot of points, I will need to continue practicing writing throughout high school so my grades won't drop both now and in the future. Likewise, since I am going into the science field, I will need to write a lot of lab reports. However, my reports won't be successful if they aren't thorough and clear; therefore, I must learn how to improve my writing skills as well as be able to retain these new skills. Ever since I started preschool, I have been preparing for graduation. I have learned many skills and even some useless information that made me curious about the world, which is why I care so much about school today. All these years of schooling, which has provided both academic as well as social improvements, has helped me construct the characteristics I now possess. These qualities, as well as continually learning by trial and error, are what will make me the successful individual I wish to be. For the past semester, I have been doing an internship at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Door County. During my time there, I have seen the receptionist area full of records that will need to stored. Sometimes the amount of paperwork waiting to be stored seems overwhelming. For my final, I interviewed Wendy Schubert, the office receptionist at Door County Aging and Disability Resource Center. Her response was "we have physical records and electronic records. Our physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moving on to question three, I ask "what filing systems are used: alphabetical, subject, geographic?" Wendy answered, "Well, we mainly use alphabetical. As I said before, we use subject and location to label folders, but inside those folders are arranged in alphabetical order. The Social Assistant Management System (SAMs) account and SchedulePlus system can be set to quarry by first or last name, phone numbers, location, birthday and even poverty levels. Our hard copies that need to be scanned don't have an order, we just put them in a folder and scan them when we can." I then asked "what types of records management supplies are used and why? Are the current supplies adequate for usage?" Wendy thought for a second and then replied, "with our physical records we use hanging folders, folders, and folder labels, paper and pens. We're transitioning to electronic files, but for now, yes the supplies is adequate." For question five, I asked Wendy "what types of equipment is being used? Is the current equipment adequate for usage?" Wendy answered "we use computers, hard drives and space, a printer that can print, copy, fax, and scan, we also use filing ... You are talking about significant visitor volume increases that would come as a result of that, different events that they have spoke of, as it relates to a potential NLF football, major league soccer, different concerts and that sort of thing. • 17. Descriptive Essay On Autographs As I pull in the parking lot of Ray Nitschke Field seeing all the Green Bay Packer fans dressed in their green and gold walking on the sidewalks or sitting on the shiny silver bleachers in the practice field. (Imagery) I am thinking of where I am going to set my stuff up and stay there. I am also thinking of the main guys that I want to get autographs from. Getting autographs isn't an easy process, some days it is the same temperature as it is in Texas during the summer (Simile) for two and a half hours, outside not doing anything besides waiting for the buzzer to blow, allowing the Packer players to come out off the practice field. Since it is a great day to watch a Packers practice, (Prepositional phrase) I get my stuff ready for autographs. I rush out of the car and get set in a spot to sit for a couple hours. I hear people around me saying "Here comes someone on a bike," or someone asking me "Hey, do you know who number 64 is?" As i'm thinking to myself who I really want to try and get, my heart is pounding of excitement. Around 15 minutes before the practice, everyone has their memorabilia in their hand and is waiting for the players to come out. Finally, you can see someone come down the road very slowly on a bike with their dark green jersey and helmet. All of the kids screaming "here, here." (Imagery) The first bike goes straight through the gates and off the practice, and everyone gets disappointed because they wouldn't stop for their kids. Then the next few come ... • 19. Pros And Cons Of Banning The Daily Stormer While banning The Daily Stormer may not prevent them from creating another outlet to spread negativity, there are still pro's that come from it. One pro that would come out of banning The Daily Stormer is that there would be one less outlet spreading hateful messages. Furthermore, there would be no basis of meaning set out on how to treat others. Banning The Daily Stormer also shows that companies are willing to step up and speak out on what they believe in. This could also defer future hate groups by creating fear of also being shut down. Even though there are other ways to go about getting rid of people who spread hatred towards other groups of people who are not their own, I think that the web platforms had the right to deny access to The Daily Stormer if they feared that any other way could lead to more chaos. I think that the Daily Stormer should be able to freely express their opinions, whether other people agree with them or not. People should be able to have a civilized debate about the things that they may not agree upon. In my opinion, it is wrong and unjust to punish people for expressing their views, however controversial they may be. As members of a society, we should accept that not everyone is going to agree with us, and getting angry or trying to silence someone because they have different beliefs is simply barbaric. It is important that one learns to listen to different perspectives about the world. With that being said, I think sometimes it is very hard for humans to separate their emotions from logic, and when that happens you can't communicate. Admittedly, the Neo–Nazis have a ... • 23. Reflection On What I Have Learned About Myself And UW-Madison I hope all is going well back home in small–town, rural Wisconsin. I am writing to you the discuss and reflect upon what I have learned about myself and UW–Madison and how I can utilize those different lessons I've learned to make the most out of my Wisconsin Experience and eventually achieve my personal and professional goals. First and foremost, I cannot begin to start with how radically different this university and the diversity up here is compared to what I am accustomed to back home. Walking the streets here was definitely a culture shock for me at first. The different races and beliefs here were almost overwhelming to begin with, especially after one of our house meetings discussing those topics. Being around only one–thousand people my whole life, who all shared similar beliefs in many ways put a little shell around me. If someone was slightly different than everyone else, they were judged and sometimes severely bullied for just being themselves. I am so very thankful for the "eye–opening" that the University of Wisconsin–Madison has provided for me. It not only will allow me to see things with a different perspective, but it will also give me a new appreciation for all walks of life. The history of high academia and prestigious standings throughout the country was also a bit intimidating at first. It was hard for me to think that I could make it amongst tens of thousands of other bright individuals, but I am confident that I am slowly finding my place, my reason for coming to this university. Being able to be amongst some of the smartest individuals in the United States has humbled me immensely. Back home, I was considered the smartest of the smart, earning high honors in all academics. Here, though, I am merely average. But, I am going to be working every day to set myself aside from others by finding the thing that I truly excel in and what makes me special. I cannot wait to begin my courses away from gen–eds, and start specializing in the Kinesiology field. Overall, I know that these ideas will help me find my purpose here at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and what makes me a true badger at heart. With this in mind, it is my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet. These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the government to purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great forests of Wisconsin. Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the government became determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The years immediately proceeding World War II brought back economic security for many, and left a legacy of many industrial accomplishments as well as non–industrial accomplishments such as the Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the manner that I have chosen to write this paper was presented to me by my sources. Luther Burbank was born March 7, 1849 in Lancaster, Massachusetts. After his father's death, Burbank moved with his family to a small farm in Groton. At the age of twenty–one he purchased seventeen acres of land near Lunenburg and began a 55–year plant–breeding career. • 57. I Am Proud At The University Of Wisconsin- Madison Essay As I stand before you today, I am honored to not only be your Senator, but a proud alumnus of this University. It was nearly 20 years ago from today that I was in your shoes as a freshman starting his journey at the University of Wisconsin– Madison. Before coming to Madison, I had lived my entire life in southern Louisiana. My early formative years were passed in New Orleans, where I was born, before a move upstate Louisiana at the age of seven. It was a month before my turning of this age that proved to be one of the most arduous weeks of my life. I remember the pain quite vividly and am not sure how I persevered at such a young age. At the beginning of that week, my mother stormed into the house sweating and with a frantic look on her face. In a startled tone that I was not used to, she alerted that we had to go because there was a storm coming. I grabbed my blanket, as many bags of goldfish that I could carry, and some clothes and shoved it all in my backpack. While quickly walking to the car, I asked my mother in an out–of–breath tone, where we were going and she replied "to the stadium, hun." I couldn't believe it, I was so excited to be going to the Superdome. I remember always wanting to go to a game there with my father to watch our favorite team, the New Orleans Saints. When rushing out of the house and being buckled into my booster seat, I did not realize that I was leaving my house for last time. I remember arriving at the Superdome that Sunday morning and ... • 61. Environmental Dangers Of Mining Mining has shaped much of the world today and remains a vital part of history. Without mining, many technologies would either be in scarce supply or not exist at all. With mining, humans have been able to collect a plethora of minerals and substances that still have many uses today. Despite the great things that mining has done for humankind, there are many people that see mining as a danger to the environment and the economy. Waste products and other pollutants caused or created from mining can have harmful effects on the surrounding environment. The economy is also an issue as mining is not as profitable as it once was. Despite these views, many mining companies still believe that mining can bring profitable results while still keeping the environment safe. With the recent undertaking of the Back Forty Project, concerns have been raised over the issues of the possible environmental dangers of mining near water sources and the impact (or lack thereof) on the economy. One of the biggest issues many people have with mining are the environmental dangers that it can bring. One such group, the Mining Action Group, claims that the Back Forty Project is hazardous to the nearby Menominee River. The Back Forty Project is a polymetallic sulfide mine, a type of mine composed of reactive ore and rocks that when exposed to air or water can form sulfuric acid. This can then "...generate low–quality water containing elevated concentrations of SO (sub 4), Fe, and associated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. The Classical Utilitarianism Line Combined With Rational... There are some questions in this life we will ask and never receive an answer to. Not because the questioned simply does not want to answer but perhaps because they cannot answer. This theory falls into the classical utilitarianism line combined with rational choice theory (Barkan p. 93). In researching Edward Theodore Gein, I discovered this is one of those cases where "Why" never came to pass and he took to his own grave those unanswered questions. Did these acts of crime and necrophilia arise from the clear dysfunctional home life and upbringing or was Ed Gein simply a psychopath? How he came to be. Born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to George Philip and Augusta Gein; Ed was the second of two sons. Gein was raised in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One must ask how much hereditary influence from his mother was a factor in Geins' rational choice theory. Nature versus the lack of nurture in the upbringing of Ed Gein and his brother. "Nonetheless, offenders still make decisions that appear rational to them at the time they make them (Barkan, p. 96)." Theory Analysis Ed Gein deeply desired to please his mother above all else. Augusta Gein an archaic Lutheran controlled her sons to the extreme. Ed did attend public school however he was an outcast and often bullied by other students. Despite the mistreatment, he managed to do well in and enjoyed school. When Ed tried to socialize at school this did not please his mother and anytime Ed tried to make friends, his mother scolded him. The isolation from any other outside influences could not have been healthy and added to his insecurities in an everyday social lifestyle. Gein was often described as a loner, awkward and aloof. Augusta read to both her sons daily from the Old Testament Bible from scripture usually graphic in nature with versus dealing with death, murder and divine retribution. Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with harsh criticism and she was rarely pleased with her sons. She often scolded them and verbally abused them by telling them they were going to end up disappointments like their father (Woods, 1995). "In light of the entire transaction as it was outlined to them by Wisconsin, did First Midwestern provide the correct advice to their customer on how to structure the transactions? Did they appear to be fully diligent?" First Midwestern was a well–known bank and has a good relationship with Wisconsin for several years. In my opinion the bank did not provide the correct advice to Wisconsin in structuring and financing the transaction. One of the main reason was, because Wisconsin did not advised their bank with all the details and negotiations happened between them and Vietnamese buyers. Also as mentioned above they were not fully aware of the side agreement of buying back the finished polished gems by Wisconsin. Also they accepted the drafts and made full payment to the applicant, which I suggest they shouldn't do. Because the price of the gems went down and also the issuing bank who bought the drafts from Midwestern are unable to collect the money from the buyers. As Wisconsin denied the side agreement with the Vietnamese buyers and there was no clause present for that in the drafts, Midwestern cannot claim the money. 2. Letter of guarantee is a type of commitment from the bank on behalf of its customers (buyer) to the third party (suppliers) and Promises to meet any financial obligations in case the customers fails to fulfill the requirement of the contract. The risks that Wisconsin faced when they agree to accept the letter of guarantee and ship the goods under it includes currency risk, commercial risk, risk of nonpayment. One of the commercial risk involved the quality of goods delivered. When the Wisconsin made its first delivery to Saigon jewels, they indicated that not all of the jade gems received are of good quality. McCarthy studied his fellow lawyers' strategies in the court room and "kept his office open evenings to attract clients."
