Explain How Business And Business Education Was Handled...
ePortfolio Assignment
Throughout this assignments I will discuss how business and business educate was handled during
the formal Regency period. This period took place from 1811–1820. During this period there were
many gender rolls, norms, and values for both men and women to follow. The specific work that I
will be analyzing is Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austin originally wrote this work. A film was then
developed in 2005.
The main roll of men during this period was to handle business and earn money to support the
family. The men in the film are always formally dressed and ready to conduct business representing
their social class. Men during this period were well educated to conduct business and a groomed to
become the patriarch of the family, as they got older.
The women during the Regency period had far different rolls then men. In the film you often see the
women dressed trying to impress the male characters using garments such as ribbons and fancy
dresses to make them appealing to men. The norm for women at this time was for the man to
support the female. Therefore the women did not focus on business or earning money. Women's
main goal was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is a strong female matriarch in the film and plays into the female gender norms during the
period. She believes deeply that women are to master the arts to truly please their husband and be a
suitable wife. In this scene Lady Catharine is questioning Elizabeth about her and her fellow sisters.
She is asking her if they are well educated in the arts. Lady Catharine is greatly displeased when
Elizabeth informs her that they are not well educated in the arts. At this point Lady Catharine is
judging the Bennet's social class and sees them unsuitable to please a husband. She is overall
bewildered by the sister's upbringing and does not understand. This scene shows how strong the
norms of society are and how they affects social class during this

Impact of Globalization on Business and Management Education
Impact of Globalization on Business and Management Education
The business sector in India is highly promising in the present scenario. The impact of globalization
has changed the business procedure in India in terms of psychology, methodology, technology,
mindset work culture etc. Newer challenges, newer opportunities are day–by–day in front of Indian
industries, which are profitable and prospective.
The fundamental scope of doing business in India is lying with its people. The huge population of
India has created a large unsaturated market of consumers. This is one of the reasons why global
companies are very much interested in doing business in India. In the post globalization era this
scope has increased immensely for global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competitive forces are expected to take Indian industry out of inertia and place it on a dynamic
growth path. In this context, it is important to know how far economic liberalization and
globalization has succeeded in changing the market structure so as to allow more competitive free
play. Market competition is in turn expected to influence the performance of industry positively. It is
proposed to study changes in the market structure for different industries in terms of the number of
units, size structure and ownership patterns in the 1990s as compared with the 1980s, using unit
level data for the organized industry. This is to be followed up by a study of the performance of
these units / industries in terms of efficiency and productivity. A related question to be examined is
how the new economic environment has influenced the entry and exit of firms, their competitive
strategies, and their pricing behavior.
Reforms and the Corporate Sector
The corporate sector constitutes a dominant part of industry. Financial sector reforms along with the
development of the capital market are changing the structure of corporate financing. This has led to
a separation of ownership and the management and has given rise to the issue of corporate
governance, among others. Corporate governance essentially deals with the ways of governing the
corporations so as to improve their financial performance. The need for governance arises mainly

Essay On Rewind Leadership
Everyone says they are "Going into business." This is not a bad thing, all it means is that we must
nurture our skills to be competitive. I myself, wish to open the doors to my own store. I enjoy
organizing, researching and diving deep into subjects to gain the best understandings possible,
particularly in business. I never finish learning, I thrive in it. Currently, I am continuing to narrow in
on interests. Easily, I could tell a story, saying I am opening an elite athletic club in ten years called
"Rewind Revolution". However, I have not slightly begun indulging in the variety of business
emphases that Lakeland offers, similarly to those offered to graduate and business professional,
Caitlin Brotz of Olivu 426. Truly, I am enthusiastic to discover musky life. It is my mission to
achieve the following with a Lakeland education: development of existing knowledge, application
of education during internships and career, and finally sharing my business experience by
volunteering with Future Business Leaders of America. First of all, to illustrate my current business
achievements, I will explain what I have already accomplished. Previously I mentioned "Rewind

Should Harvard Business School Enter The Business Of...
Years before the term MOOC – massive open online course – became a part of the academic
lexicon, Harvard was an important educational resource for learners outside the walls of the Yard.
President A. Lawrence Lowell established University Extension at Harvard more than 100 years ago
to serve Greater Boston. In recent decades, technology has enabled the Extension School to expand
its reach to all 50 states and 195 countries, bringing Harvard's world–renowned education to a
growing community of learners.
But when its dean, Nitin Nohria, faced the school's biggest strategic decision since 1924 – the year it
planned its campus and adopted the case–study method as its pedagogical cornerstone – he ran into
an issue. Those professors, and those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"A company must stay the course," Professor Porter has written, "even in times of upheaval, while
constantly improving and extending its distinctive positioning."
For Clayton Christensen, whose 1997 book, "The Innovator's Dilemma," propelled him to academic
stardom, the only way that market leaders like Harvard Business School survive "disruptive
innovation" is by disrupting their existing businesses themselves. This is arguably what rival
business schools like Stanford and the Wharton School have been doing by having professors stand
in front of cameras and teach MOOCs, or massive open online courses, free of charge to anyone,
anywhere in the world. For a modest investment by the school – about $20,000 to $30,000 a course
– a professor can reach a million students, says Karl Ulrich, vice dean for innovation at Wharton,
part of the University of Pennsylvania.
"Do it cheap and simple," Professor Christensen says. "Get it out there."
But Harvard Business School's online education program is not cheap, simple, or open. It could be
said that the school opted for the Porter theory. Called HBX, the program will make its debut on
June 11 and has its own admissions office. Instead of attacking the school's traditional M.B.A. and
executive education programs – which produced revenue of $108 million and $146 million in 2013
– it aims to create an entirely new segment of business education: the pre–M.B.A. "Instead of
having two big product lines, we may be on the verge of

Introducing week's one entry I chose the title article above, "What Drives Ethics Education in
Business Schools? Influences on Ethics in the MBA Curriculum." This article entail insight which,
immediately drew my attention how ethics plays a percentage still today in our practice of school
business education. Personally, I feel that its presence has all but disappeared in our generation and
the generation of business in the upcoming century. The author(s) of this piece was attempting to
find out what is the motivating factor behind teaching Ethics in business schools. The author(s) was
trying to find out where and when it was place most prevalent in the curriculum within the MBA
programs. The author(s) felt compelled to express the need as an outline they noticed from varying
amounts of importance placed on Ethics throughout various institutions. The measurement used for
this research was that of a survey. The author(s) used the results of the 2009 Beyond Gray Pinstripes
survey in which, a questionnaire was introduce by students enrolled as full–time, and in person

Internet Addiction : The World Of Education,...
Internet Addiction Addiction, defined by Webster dictionary as "a strong and harmful need to
regularly have something (such as a drug) or do something (such as gamble)". Everyone has one,
we're all guilty of being addicted. Certainly, as this world changes and evolves, we as people change
and evolve with it. We invent, create, and mold materials to change this world for the better. Though
sometimes, we can often become dependent on our own inventions to a point that it becomes
unhealthy, afflicting, and seriously addictive. One of these innovations includes that of the internet.
It's a wonderful source of information, used to connect the world in ways we never thought possible.
Even still, are we as a people missing the darker sides that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Well, according to the article Internet, by Unity Point Health Illinois Institute for Addiction Recover,
it states that, "Internet addiction is described as an impulse control disorder, which does not involve
use of an intoxicating drug and is very similar to pathological gambling. Some Internet users may
develop an emotional attachment to on–line friends and activities they create on their computer
screens." Regardless of the blunt statement, this doesn't mean because you have over 200 friends on
your Facebook page that you're addicted. So before you go deleting all your partners Ex's (yes, we
know you're online stalking), take a look at the symptoms and examine for yourself whether you
believe you are truly, addicted. "Feeling preoccupied with the internet. (thinking about your

Like his grandfather and father before him, Edward B. Rust Jr. became the chairman and chief
executive officer of State Farm Insurance Companies. Having been associated with the company his
entire life, Rust was well rounded in the mutual insurer 's corporate culture, which placed a great
deal of emphasis on serving policyholders, who were the legal owners of the company, and avoiding
spending money unnecessarily. However, despite a lifelong association with State Farm, Rust

and adviser to Illinois Wesleyan University, the University of Illinois, and Stanford University as
well as serving as the cochairman of the Business Coalition for Excellence in Education and on
President Bush 's transition team covering educational issues.
A message from Mr. Rust, "Every day each of us makes choices where integrity, honesty, and
trustworthiness come into play. These are hard–to–measure qualities, but they 're priceless when it
comes to customer confidence in what we do and how we do it.
It 's important that we know this about each other and that our customers know this about us: At
State Farm, we do not just do what 's legal, but also right."
Mr. Rust has been Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of State Farm Insurance
Companies since 1987. State Farm Insurance is the largest insurer of automobiles and homes in the
United States. Along with being the largest insurance agency they are an extremely philanthropic
company. Even with all of Mr. Rust's success, he takes time to help others succeed. He is obviously
a great and caring leader.

APRIL 2016 INTRODUCTION What can we as teachers do to influence our learners to become
entrepreneurs? The government of Botswana has been over the years working tirelessly in trying to
curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well as motivating them to venture into
different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the
country's economy which is highly reliant on diamond exports. This includes among other things,
coming up with initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth
businesses to help fight unemployment and poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic
Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up–skilling and up–scaling unemployed youth among one of
its many mandates. Again, there is the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA)
which aims at providing financial and technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses
(CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to
already existing ones. What is more, it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new
entrepreneurs as well as those that have been in the industry for a while. It is however worrisome

The Business Manager/Director of Education Wears Many Hats
Education has many faces, one of them being that of the business manager/director. This particular
job is a diverse one with various responsibilities. It is the duty and responsibility of a manger or
director to ensure that the district run both effectively and efficiently. In doing so, they create a
foundation that supports a solid financial operation. I would define this role as being one that
maintains strategic financial plans that allows them to manage the administration of personnel
functions in the school. They are also responsible for budget modelling, drawing up base budgets,
provisional budges as well as final budgets. They monitor salaries and expenditure and advise the
district Superintendent. It is also their roles to ensure that all records of expenditures are up to date
are keep the Superintendent and principals informed about under and over spending of budgets.
Another aspect of their job is making sure that accurate records of personnel files are kept, including
absences are maintained and information passed on for payroll services as necessary. They are
required to produce job description, person specification and advertisements for vacancies. As a
business manager/director one must ensure that all staff are paid on the correct scale and spine point
in consultation with the superintendent and to provide appropriate information on pay to staff, the
Governing Body and to be the first point of contact for all staff at the school on pay and contract

interest in business sparked. I enrolled in a Business Internship Regional Occupation Program where

many internship options, but a law center particularly caught my eye as I did not know much about
law and I wanted to change that. While at Financial Relief Law Center, I quickly became interested
in the type of cases the attorneys handled, from divorces to bankruptcies of all sorts. Although a
majority of my given tasks was to transfer documents to computer programs, I practiced my
communication skills with attorneys and clients alike. I was also the only intern to have a part–time
summer job at this business. Even though I am now no longer working, I learned many vital skills
for a business career. Also during senior year I enrolled in Accounting. I was surprised by how much

My Statement of Purpose for Undergraduate Education at the...
One of the great mysteries of life is what the future holds. Knowledge of the present and past is
clear but no one, no matter how intelligent or wise, is capable of predicting what the future might
bring. Many try and, in some marginal way, are correct in their predictions but for most the future is
the great unknown. With the future unknown the best that one can do is prepare for as many
eventualities as possible. As unpredictable as life is the one certainty is that the need for a quality
education is an essential part of it. Toward this end, I certainly anticipate within the next ten years to
have completed my formal education and to have established roots in my business career. As I
intend to pursue a masters degree in business, I will have only been in the working environment for,
at most, four years but should have been able to formulate many of the contacts necessary for me to
succeed. Networking is an essential element of any good business career and I am determined to
make myself as accessible to as many interesting and accomplished individuals as I can. Success
breeds success and it is my sincerest hope that I will be able to surround myself with such
individuals as I pursue my career. The future is uncertain but I am confident that by providing
myself with a quality education, procuring a good job, and making myself available to establish
good contacts I can handle any eventualities in a proper and prepared manner. Preparedness is the

Business Strategy Towards Global Education

At the time, higher education had technology divisions scattered across the United States, India and

Technology Has A Growing Influence On Home Life, The...
Technology has been a growing influence in home life, the business world, and now education.
Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought
technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers,
projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student
achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus.
Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the
student's understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator's
lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather it
should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further
understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming readily
available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. Honey (2005)
sites the National Center of Education Statistics, in saying that public schools have made consistent
progress in expanding Internet access in classrooms. Having these technological tools and access
available allow it easy for teachers to put into practice student–centered learning. Researchers, Neo
and Kian study has proved that the use of technology had greatly effected the student's learning
process and widen the depth of learning skills and knowledge.

A Research Study On Business Education
Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS
EDUCATION 1
Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education
Luke Maass
Northwest Missouri State University
Authors note
This paper was prepared for
Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to
graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research
opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment.
Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today's world.
This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a
classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of
identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also
explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One
goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research
is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as "research has, historically, been
regarded as the primary determinant of a school 's prestige" (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example,
Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools.
If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking.

The Great Debate Liberal arts education, with relation to the business field, has brought about much
attention in the last thirty years. The scope of the liberal arts field with relation to the business
environment, while discussed in length for over a century, has just recently established itself as a
larger debate than otherwise thought. The theory behind the liberal arts philosophy is the betterment
of ones self through the ability to critically think and reason with logic so that there can be a greater
connection into social participation (Cohen, 2009). The purpose of using this theory and applying it
to the field of business education is to provide students with the ability to use the business
knowledge they possess and conform it to the situations that they may face in the present (King and
Baxter–Magolda, 1991). Pinsker (2009) states that the growth of a liberal arts mentality in a person
helps to develop the "intellectual scaffolding" that holds them to deal with the challenges presented
to them in everyday situations. The ultimate goal in joining the personal development concept with
the role that person plays in a business role is that the business leader will be better equipped to
participate in the cultural and intellectual arenas found the the practice of business (Fogarty, 2010).
The form that Weisbuch (2007) presents this idea is that the study of liberal arts is a mere

The article is about education business in Canada. There are two main things that article mentioned.
First of all, more and more Canadian students go to other countries for study instead of stay in
Canada. In this, government will lose huge revenue from education industry. Fortunately, Canada is
a popular destination for international student to have better education. The article said international
students contribute $8 billion tuition every year in Canada. Moreover, it increased 10 billion to
economy and creates more than 86,000 jobs. International students usually pay at least more than
triple tuition fee in colleges or universities. For example, my friend who studies commerce in

Business Education: The Business Philosophy And Philosophy...
The philosophy of business by definition considers the fundamental principles that underlie the
formation and operation of a business enterprise; the nature and purpose of a business, and the
moral obligations that pertain to it. The subject is important to business and management, and is
therefore closely related to business ethics and political economy. It is influenced significantly by
philosophy, ethics, and economic theory.
The "philosophy of business" is different from 'business philosophy.' Business philosophy denotes a
way of doing business or a business outlook, instead of the more academic philosophical meaning of
philosophy of business."

Career Education And Business Management
As technology continues to advance, it is becoming more important for organizations to frequently
train their employees. This study will combine adult and career education and business management
disciplines to define and answer this research question, "What is the most effective way to train
newly employed or employed adult learners new job skills or tasks within an organization?"
Combining my two disciplines, adult and career education and business management, creates a job
for people who are professional trainers for businesses or organizations. These professional trainers
are specialized in teaching newly employed or employed people or groups new skills and tasks
within a specific department in an organization. Organizations normally hire specialized trainers,
but for smaller training, they will use a manager or supervisor as trainers, which save them time and
money. For trainers to determine the most effective methods, they first need to understand how
adults learn and why they learn differently than younger students. When trainers understand how
adults learn, they will be able to determine what learning styles should be used for each individual
trainee, allowing them to learn new information and skills efficiently. Once the trainer knows how
adults learn and they different learning styles, he or she will be able to determine the most effective
method to use for training an employee or employees for each specific department within an
organization.

The Importance Of Liberal Arts In Business Education
Over the years, schools of business education had not seen the need to incorporate liberal arts into
their programs. In the past, employment rates for liberal arts majors had been generally low, which
caused the school of business to turn away from the major and not want anything to do with it.
According to a study conducted at Georgetown University, liberal arts majors were found to have
one of the top unemployment rates at 8.4% (Dumbauld, 2016). They have not provided great job
opportunities and have left their students paying off large amounts of debt with not a lot of money
coming in to pay them. Business once viewed liberal arts as a waste of time, since only certain
subjects were being taught. During the 1970s and 1980s, many colleges began to shift from liberal
arts to professional education in order to meet students' demands and maintain enrollment
(Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). With this new restructuring of more business majors being added to the
undergraduate curriculum, a demand–driven response had risen to changed student interests
(Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). Business has become such a popular major because it is needed in so
many fields and assures graduates with a stable career path. Liberal arts colleges cannot guarantee
this same promise due to claims of not having a distinctive educational identity and a clear social
and political class. Only certain institutions have been able to support specific liberal arts graduates
with high–standing positions in the

They were able to embed liberal arts educational experience into their business curriculum and were
successful in doing so. By getting an education in liberal arts and sciences students are then able to
make a transition to positions of leadership in American for –profit and non–profit organizations
(Paris, 2017, p. 9). Non–profits are very similar to small businesses and having a business
background as well would strength a student's ability to successful fill the position within a
nonprofit. As stated previously, Washington and Lee University is one of the top liberal arts schools.
It is a small, highly selective private institution and it is also the only top–tier national liberal arts
college with an Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AAACSB)–accredited
school of business. Through this school it shows that liberal arts schools are able to get accreditation
in the business world and that it is not impossible to be diverse as a school. This school sets the
mark of with what it has already done with making the connection with both liberal arts and
business. The school itself, was founded back in 1749 and has a long history of providing business
education at the undergraduate level. As of 1927, the University was accredited but the AAACSB

Electronic Commerce is the process of exchanging products and services or information with the
help of computer networks, which includes the Internet (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, &
Viehland, 2008). We can classify e–commerce by their relationship among different participants in
the following types (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008).
Business–to–Business (B2B): All the participants in this model are business organizations. For
example, Dell applications include B2B with their suppliers (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, &

(Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). The failure was mainly because the e–
commerce field was going through consolidations and organizations were trying different models
and structures (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). The other reason was giants
like Amazon were working on expanding their operations and generating increased sales. However,
the future looks bright for e–commerce and the usefulness is starting to materialize. As e–commerce
expands, these benefits will increase significantly. E–Commerce offers benefits to business
organizations, individuals and the society (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008).
Benefits to Organization
EC helps in locating customers and suppliers around the globe at a reasonable cost. Processing
information, storage and distribution at lower costs. It helps to reduce delays, cost and inventories

Joseph R. Desjardins Views On Sustainability And Ethics
Joseph R. Desjardins is a brilliant writer that holds business and society accountable for the way the
conduct themselves. Desjardins believes that being sustainable allows you to reach your potential,
and the potential you are supposed to reach allows you to picture a prosperous future and this makes
you ethical. Desjardins views on sustainability and ethics give me no choice but to not agree with
his views; due to the fact I feel like his view on society will increase knowledge. Our society doesn't

Who wouldn't like to see a society that promoted ethics and sustainability? This just simply can't
happen because of the culture business had since the beginning of time. Business has always been
about find new ways to increase profits, there are very few business that actually care about the
consumer. The things we hate about successful business owners are the things that have made them
successful. Business owners have been so use to do with they know so what makes Desjardins
believe they will change the habits that has always worked for them. The change to having business
more sustainable is a dream that I would like to come true, but unfortunately that will never happen
because of the greed and cut throat attitudes that business owners have. If businesses continue to
make money the way they are accustom to; what will make them change? I believe if more business
become sustainable and gather a strong following from the consumer; then the envy that greedy
business owners have will kick in and then they will convert over to sustainable changes in order to
make profit. Hopefully one day we the people will be able to see this sustainable and ethical dream

Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and...
Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e–business unit on the bricks and mortar
university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning
has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the
customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend
international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and
must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In
contrast, the e–business element allows for marketing all around the world. The school can develop
curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the
centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in
the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care
practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a
shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that its
degrees are widely recognized. There will also need to be policies in place that facilitate the learning
of students from all over the world, so that the environment is healthy and supportive for all.
On a practical level, the school can facilitate real–time learning by developing features and

Obligation Of Business Towards Society According to "Organization for Economic Co–operation
and Development". (2001), the main goal of many businesses in the current society is to make
profits. The key measurement of the success of different businesses is based on the amount of profit
they make using a given amount of output. However, some of the researchers and economist feel
that there is need to measure the success of the society based on the impact they have on the society.
All businesses are set up within a given society, and thus there is the need for all businesses to work

The other obligation of the business to the society is providing employment to the members of the
society (Werther & Chandler, 2011). All societies in the world can either provide skilled or unskilled
form of labor to various businesses. The businesses should, therefore, put measures in places to
ensure that they identify resourceful individuals from the society and provide employment to the
persons. One of the major ways to achieve provision of employment is for the business to set aside
some percentage of its vacancies to the members of the society. The business may also go a step
further and train some members of the society with the necessary skills so that they can be
competent towards the development of the society. Some of the businesses have the norm of
importing workers from other regions and leaving out the members of the society where the
company is set up. Due to the development of policies governing business activities, it is the
mandate of the business to ensure that it provides employment opportunities to the members of the
society failure to which they may face the consequences of the law. Providing employment would
empower the society, and thus the members of the society would provide a good environment that
the business can undertake its activities and reduction in cases of rebellion from the society. Due to

Explain How Business And Business Education Was Handled...

  • 1. Explain How Business And Business Education Was Handled... ePortfolio Assignment Throughout this assignments I will discuss how business and business educate was handled during the formal Regency period. This period took place from 1811–1820. During this period there were many gender rolls, norms, and values for both men and women to follow. The specific work that I will be analyzing is Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austin originally wrote this work. A film was then developed in 2005. The main roll of men during this period was to handle business and earn money to support the family. The men in the film are always formally dressed and ready to conduct business representing their social class. Men during this period were well educated to conduct business and a groomed to become the patriarch of the family, as they got older. The women during the Regency period had far different rolls then men. In the film you often see the women dressed trying to impress the male characters using garments such as ribbons and fancy dresses to make them appealing to men. The norm for women at this time was for the man to support the female. Therefore the women did not focus on business or earning money. Women's main goal was to ... She believes deeply that women are to master the arts to truly please their husband and be a suitable wife. In this scene Lady Catharine is questioning Elizabeth about her and her fellow sisters. She is asking her if they are well educated in the arts. Lady Catharine is greatly displeased when Elizabeth informs her that they are not well educated in the arts. At this point Lady Catharine is judging the Bennet's social class and sees them unsuitable to please a husband. She is overall bewildered by the sister's upbringing and does not understand. This scene shows how strong the norms of society are and how they affects social class during this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Impact of Globalization on Business and Management Education Impact of Globalization on Business and Management Education The business sector in India is highly promising in the present scenario. The impact of globalization has changed the business procedure in India in terms of psychology, methodology, technology, mindset work culture etc. Newer challenges, newer opportunities are day–by–day in front of Indian industries, which are profitable and prospective. The fundamental scope of doing business in India is lying with its people. The huge population of India has created a large unsaturated market of consumers. This is one of the reasons why global companies are very much interested in doing business in India. In the post globalization era this scope has increased immensely for global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Competitive forces are expected to take Indian industry out of inertia and place it on a dynamic growth path. In this context, it is important to know how far economic liberalization and globalization has succeeded in changing the market structure so as to allow more competitive free play. Market competition is in turn expected to influence the performance of industry positively. It is proposed to study changes in the market structure for different industries in terms of the number of units, size structure and ownership patterns in the 1990s as compared with the 1980s, using unit level data for the organized industry. This is to be followed up by a study of the performance of these units / industries in terms of efficiency and productivity. A related question to be examined is how the new economic environment has influenced the entry and exit of firms, their competitive strategies, and their pricing behavior. Reforms and the Corporate Sector The corporate sector constitutes a dominant part of industry. Financial sector reforms along with the development of the capital market are changing the structure of corporate financing. This has led to a separation of ownership and the management and has given rise to the issue of corporate governance, among others. Corporate governance essentially deals with the ways of governing the corporations so as to improve their financial performance. The need for governance arises mainly due ... • 3. Essay On Rewind Leadership Everyone says they are "Going into business." This is not a bad thing, all it means is that we must nurture our skills to be competitive. I myself, wish to open the doors to my own store. I enjoy organizing, researching and diving deep into subjects to gain the best understandings possible, particularly in business. I never finish learning, I thrive in it. Currently, I am continuing to narrow in on interests. Easily, I could tell a story, saying I am opening an elite athletic club in ten years called "Rewind Revolution". However, I have not slightly begun indulging in the variety of business emphases that Lakeland offers, similarly to those offered to graduate and business professional, Caitlin Brotz of Olivu 426. Truly, I am enthusiastic to discover musky life. It is my mission to achieve the following with a Lakeland education: development of existing knowledge, application of education during internships and career, and finally sharing my business experience by volunteering with Future Business Leaders of America. First of all, to illustrate my current business achievements, I will explain what I have already accomplished. Previously I mentioned "Rewind Revolution". Recently, as my FBLA competition, I entirely planned a conservative financial plan for this make–believe business. As a result of the experience, I have since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recognize that during various courses explored at Lakeland, I may turn to a different business path, quite possibly with emphases in international business. No matter what it may be, I know that Lakeland will prepare me for success. As a business professional, I see myself networking with area professionals and finding my own place in the industry. In my spare time, I plan on collaborating with local high schools' FBLA chapters to offer their members mentoring and give back at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Should Harvard Business School Enter The Business Of... Years before the term MOOC – massive open online course – became a part of the academic lexicon, Harvard was an important educational resource for learners outside the walls of the Yard. President A. Lawrence Lowell established University Extension at Harvard more than 100 years ago to serve Greater Boston. In recent decades, technology has enabled the Extension School to expand its reach to all 50 states and 195 countries, bringing Harvard's world–renowned education to a growing community of learners. But when its dean, Nitin Nohria, faced the school's biggest strategic decision since 1924 – the year it planned its campus and adopted the case–study method as its pedagogical cornerstone – he ran into an issue. Those professors, and those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "A company must stay the course," Professor Porter has written, "even in times of upheaval, while constantly improving and extending its distinctive positioning." For Clayton Christensen, whose 1997 book, "The Innovator's Dilemma," propelled him to academic stardom, the only way that market leaders like Harvard Business School survive "disruptive innovation" is by disrupting their existing businesses themselves. This is arguably what rival business schools like Stanford and the Wharton School have been doing by having professors stand in front of cameras and teach MOOCs, or massive open online courses, free of charge to anyone, anywhere in the world. For a modest investment by the school – about $20,000 to $30,000 a course – a professor can reach a million students, says Karl Ulrich, vice dean for innovation at Wharton, part of the University of Pennsylvania. "Do it cheap and simple," Professor Christensen says. "Get it out there." But Harvard Business School's online education program is not cheap, simple, or open. It could be said that the school opted for the Porter theory. Called HBX, the program will make its debut on June 11 and has its own admissions office. Instead of attacking the school's traditional M.B.A. and executive education programs – which produced revenue of $108 million and $146 million in 2013 – it aims to create an entirely new segment of business education: the pre–M.B.A. "Instead of having two big product lines, we may be on the verge of ... Internet Addiction Addiction, defined by Webster dictionary as "a strong and harmful need to regularly have something (such as a drug) or do something (such as gamble)". Everyone has one, we're all guilty of being addicted. Certainly, as this world changes and evolves, we as people change and evolve with it. We invent, create, and mold materials to change this world for the better. Though sometimes, we can often become dependent on our own inventions to a point that it becomes unhealthy, afflicting, and seriously addictive. The government of Botswana has been over the years working tirelessly in trying to curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well as motivating them to venture into different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the country's economy which is highly reliant on diamond exports. This includes among other things, coming up with initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth businesses to help fight unemployment and poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up–skilling and up–scaling unemployed youth among one of its many mandates. Again, there is the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) which aims at providing financial and technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses (CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to already existing ones. What is more, it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new entrepreneurs as well as those that have been in the industry for a while. However, it was only during my senior year of high school that my interest in business sparked. I enrolled in a Business Internship Regional Occupation Program where I learned important soft skills and implemented them as an intern at a local business. There were many internship options, but a law center particularly caught my eye as I did not know much about law and I wanted to change that. While at Financial Relief Law Center, I quickly became interested in the type of cases the attorneys handled, from divorces to bankruptcies of all sorts. Although a majority of my given tasks was to transfer documents to computer programs, I practiced my communication skills with attorneys and clients alike. I was also the only intern to have a part–time summer job at this business. Even though I am now no longer working, I learned many vital skills for a business career. Knowledge of the present and past is clear but no one, no matter how intelligent or wise, is capable of predicting what the future might bring. Many try and, in some marginal way, are correct in their predictions but for most the future is the great unknown. With the future unknown the best that one can do is prepare for as many eventualities as possible. As unpredictable as life is the one certainty is that the need for a quality education is an essential part of it. Toward this end, I certainly anticipate within the next ten years to have completed my formal education and to have established roots in my business career. As I intend to pursue a masters degree in business, I will have only been in the working environment for, at most, four years but should have been able to formulate many of the contacts necessary for me to succeed. Networking is an essential element of any good business career and I am determined to make myself as accessible to as many interesting and accomplished individuals as I can. Success breeds success and it is my sincerest hope that I will be able to surround myself with such individuals as I pursue my career. • 19. Technology Has A Growing Influence On Home Life, The... Technology has been a growing influence in home life, the business world, and now education. Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers, projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus. Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the student's understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator's lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather it should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming readily available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. Honey (2005) sites the National Center of Education Statistics, in saying that public schools have made consistent progress in expanding Internet access in classrooms. A Research Study On Business Education Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION 1 Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education Luke Maass Northwest Missouri State University Authors note This paper was prepared for Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today's world. This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as "research has, historically, been regarded as the primary determinant of a school 's prestige" (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking. ... The Great Debate Liberal arts education, with relation to the business field, has brought about much attention in the last thirty years. The scope of the liberal arts field with relation to the business environment, while discussed in length for over a century, has just recently established itself as a larger debate than otherwise thought. The theory behind the liberal arts philosophy is the betterment of ones self through the ability to critically think and reason with logic so that there can be a greater connection into social participation (Cohen, 2009). The purpose of using this theory and applying it to the field of business education is to provide students with the ability to use the business knowledge they possess and conform it to the situations that they may face in the present (King and Baxter–Magolda, 1991). Pinsker (2009) states that the growth of a liberal arts mentality in a person helps to develop the "intellectual scaffolding" that holds them to deal with the challenges presented to them in everyday situations. The ultimate goal in joining the personal development concept with the role that person plays in a business role is that the business leader will be better equipped to participate in the cultural and intellectual arenas found the the practice of business (Fogarty, 2010). The form that Weisbuch (2007) presents this idea is that the study of liberal arts is a mere

  • 32. The Importance Of Liberal Arts In Business Education Over the years, schools of business education had not seen the need to incorporate liberal arts into their programs. In the past, employment rates for liberal arts majors had been generally low, which caused the school of business to turn away from the major and not want anything to do with it. According to a study conducted at Georgetown University, liberal arts majors were found to have one of the top unemployment rates at 8.4% (Dumbauld, 2016). They have not provided great job opportunities and have left their students paying off large amounts of debt with not a lot of money coming in to pay them. Business once viewed liberal arts as a waste of time, since only certain subjects were being taught. During the 1970s and 1980s, many colleges began to shift from liberal arts to professional education in order to meet students' demands and maintain enrollment (Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). With this new restructuring of more business majors being added to the undergraduate curriculum, a demand–driven response had risen to changed student interests (Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). Business has become such a popular major because it is needed in so many fields and assures graduates with a stable career path. Business Case Study : Electronic Commerce Electronic Commerce is the process of exchanging products and services or information with the help of computer networks, which includes the Internet (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). We can classify e–commerce by their relationship among different participants in the following types (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). Business–to–Business (B2B): All the participants in this model are business organizations. For example, Dell applications include B2B with their suppliers (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). Business–to–Consumer (B2C): This is an e–commerce model where the business organizations sell products and services to individual shoppers. For example, Amazon.com. E tailing is the other ... In 1990s, the World Wide Web came into existence and that is when e– commerce was coined. From then until today, e–commerce has seen both success as well as failures (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). The failure was mainly because the e– commerce field was going through consolidations and organizations were trying different models and structures (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). The other reason was giants like Amazon were working on expanding their operations and generating increased sales. However, the future looks bright for e–commerce and the usefulness is starting to materialize. As e–commerce expands, these benefits will increase significantly. E–Commerce offers benefits to business organizations, individuals and the society (Turban, King, McKay, Marshall, & Viehland, 2008). Benefits to Organization EC helps in locating customers and suppliers around the globe at a reasonable cost. Processing information, storage and distribution at lower costs. • 38. Joseph R. Desjardins Views On Sustainability And Ethics Joseph R. Desjardins is a brilliant writer that holds business and society accountable for the way the conduct themselves. Desjardins believes that being sustainable allows you to reach your potential, and the potential you are supposed to reach allows you to picture a prosperous future and this makes you ethical. Desjardins views on sustainability and ethics give me no choice but to not agree with his views; due to the fact I feel like his view on society will increase knowledge. Our society doesn't promote education like other societies, so many countries promote education a lot more than we do; these countries have a lot more educational advancements that our society also has the power to get access too, but we choose to put or work efforts ... This just simply can't happen because of the culture business had since the beginning of time. Business has always been about find new ways to increase profits, there are very few business that actually care about the consumer. The things we hate about successful business owners are the things that have made them successful. Business owners have been so use to do with they know so what makes Desjardins believe they will change the habits that has always worked for them. The change to having business more sustainable is a dream that I would like to come true, but unfortunately that will never happen because of the greed and cut throat attitudes that business owners have. If businesses continue to make money the way they are accustom to; what will make them change? I believe if more business become sustainable and gather a strong following from the consumer; then the envy that greedy business owners have will kick in and then they will convert over to sustainable changes in order to make profit. Hopefully one day we the people will be able to see this sustainable and ethical dream seen in too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and... Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e–business unit on the bricks and mortar university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In contrast, the e–business element allows for marketing all around the world. The school can develop curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that its degrees are widely recognized. There will also need to be policies in place that facilitate the learning of students from all over the world, so that the environment is healthy and supportive for all. On a practical level, the school can facilitate real–time learning by developing features and mechanisms that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obligation Of Business Towards Society Brandon Barnes WR122, 1:30 – 3:30 PM Daniel Couch Research Paper March 4, 2017 Obligation Of Business Towards Society According to "Organization for Economic Co–operation and Development". (2001), the main goal of many businesses in the current society is to make profits. The key measurement of the success of different businesses is based on the amount of profit they make using a given amount of output. However, some of the researchers and economist feel that there is need to measure the success of the society based on the impact they have on the society. All businesses are set up within a given society, and thus there is the need for all businesses to work together with the society to realize its full potential. According to the Chief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other obligation of the business to the society is providing employment to the members of the society (Werther & Chandler, 2011). All societies in the world can either provide skilled or unskilled form of labor to various businesses. The businesses should, therefore, put measures in places to ensure that they identify resourceful individuals from the society and provide employment to the persons. One of the major ways to achieve provision of employment is for the business to set aside some percentage of its vacancies to the members of the society. The business may also go a step further and train some members of the society with the necessary skills so that they can be competent towards the development of the society. Some of the businesses have the norm of importing workers from other regions and leaving out the members of the society where the company is set up. Due to the development of policies governing business activities, it is the mandate of the business to ensure that it provides employment opportunities to the members of the society failure to which they may face the consequences of the law. Providing employment would empower the society, and thus the members of the society would provide a good environment that the business can undertake its activities and reduction in cases of rebellion from the society.
