Extreme poverty is something that has been happening in this world for decades, if not for centuries.
It is the scarcity of materials such as money, food and water, and other necessities that people need
to live; in other words, it is the condition of being poor. It is heart retching to know that there are so
many poor people in this world. Extreme poverty has been happening mainly in African, Asian,
China, and Indian countries. Over a billion people live on under a dollar a day. People in extreme
poverty have to drink dirty water to survive because of the lack of money to have fresh water.
Approximately 11 million children die due to the lack of food and fresh water. It is supposed to be
the job of the wealthier to do what they can do to help. I have seen the less wealthy people helping
the poor than I have seen the poor helping the poor. I have also seen that people tend to only help
specific types of people and ignore the other types, which leads me to my main points. I believe that
there are several subjects that we have read in our literature and discussed on the discussion board
are lead causes of extreme poverty. The causes are things that the authors of the literature from this
semester would not approve, including discrimination, violence, and low education (Roser and
