Introduction
Pathophysiology
An outbreak of a respiratory disease began in Wuhan, China in December
2019 and the caustive agent was discovered in January 2020.
A novel beta coronavirus of the same subgenus as SARs - CoV and
named severe acute respiratory syndrome cronavirus - 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Corona virus is one of the major pathogen that primarily target human
respiratory system.
Epidemiology
When the virus enter the respiratory system of alveoli,CoVID-19 virus mainly
adapt type-2 pneumocytes.
The spike protein binds to ACE2 (angiotensin converting enzyme 2 ),as soon as
the virus enter the cells it release single stranded RNA.
As the virus damage the type-2 pneumocytes and release inflammatory mediators
to activate alveolar macrophage.
The macrophage release specific cytokines like IL-1,IL-6,TNF and it cause
vasodilation and increased capillary permiability.
So the consequence of plasma will spread in the interstitial space so it accumulate
and compress alveoli.
Some fluid comes into alveoli which eventually leads to alveolar collapse.
Alveolar collapse decrease gas exchange which cause Hypoxemia.
There will be capillary permiability all over the body ,the fluid will go out the
body interstitial space which leads decrease blood volume and decrease peripheral
resistance leads to Hypotension.
The final outcome multiple organ failure.
COVID-19 is caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2s.
SARS-CoV-2 spreads from person to person through close contact(6 feet).
People with COVID-19 breathe out or cough, they expel tiny droplets that contain
the virus.
These droplets can enter the mouth or nose of someone without the virus, causing
an infection to occur.
Infection with COVID-19 appears in December 2019 in china.
It seems to be February 16,2020 there have been 51,174 people who have
contracted the infection and more than 1666 people have died.
Safety Precautions
Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Conclusion
Stay home.
Wash hands often with soap or alcohol based hand rub.
Keep a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or bent elbow.
There has been a rapid surge in research in response to the outbreak of
COVID-19.During this early primarily explored the pathophysiology,
epidemiology, causes, objectives and discussion of the novel coronavirus.
Although these studies are relevant to current public emergency in both
short- and long-term.
Morphology
Corona viruses are enveloped indicating that they are lipid
soluble.
They are carrying crown like peplomer spikes.
They are +ve single stranded RNA genome.
The size of the virus is 100-160nm and helical symmetry.
