Employers were in complete control. Consequently, it is said that employees that are members of a

increased production and simplified task. The internet, telephones and fax machines have
completely revamped communication. These internal capabilities were unheard of 30 years ago.

the company products over time.

Informative Essay On Bed Bugs
Does My Bed Have Bed Bugs?
Bed bugs are small insects that take up residence in soft furnishings, particularly mattresses. Bed
bugs feed on the blood of warm–blooded animals, and human hosts can suffer an allergic reaction. If
you suspect that you have bed bugs in your home, it is crucial that you find and eradicate them
before they reproduce and spread.
What are bed bugs
Bed bugs are small, non–flying insects that feed exclusively on the blood of warm–blooded animals
– making humans the perfect hosts. Most bed bugs will feed while their host is asleep. While
feeding, the bed bug will inject a small amount of saliva into the host's skin. Hosts can develop a
sensitivity to bed bug saliva over time, and this can eventually result in an intense allergic reaction.
Bed bugs feed every five to ten days, and a well–fed bug can live for six to nine months. However,
bed bugs can survive in a dormant state for over a year without food. ... Show more content on

However, bed bugs can also move between apartments through holes in walls and through pipes or
tubes that are shared.
Signs of bed bugs
The first sign of bed bugs is usually a bite. A bed bug bite can take between a couple of hours and
two weeks to appear. Unlike flea bites, these bites do not have a red centre, and will usually appear
in a row of two or three. Bites can become red and swollen, and may be itchy. Although bites do not
require medical treatment, steroid creams and oral anti–histamines can alleviate symptoms.
Adult bed bugs, hatchlings and eggs are all visible to the naked eye. Adult bed bugs are about 5mm
to 7mm long, range in colour from white to orangey–brown, and are oval and flat in shape. A female
lays about five eggs a day. These milky–white eggs take about two weeks to hatch, and the
newborns, called hatchlings, are about the size of a poppy

West Lake Home Furnishings Ltd
Executive Summary The CEO at West Lake Home Furnishings LTD, Charles Bowman, came across
with a proposal of reducing the retail price of a signature line of decorative lamps from $69.99 to
$29.99 for a period of one year. This customer has a large U.S. based retail chain accounted for one–
third of West Lake's wholesale business in 2006. The company had to adjust by holding higher
inventory levels in warehouses. West Lake Home Furnishings LTD is intending to stay at top of its

The Importance Of Blockhouse Furniture
Just a few minutes ago, I was reading an article about healthcare furniture. It mentioned, that as
more of the population continues to age, hospital traffic flow has been greatly increasing, causing
hospital furniture to wear out much more quickly which increases healthcare furniture costs for
healthcare facilities. Out of curiosity, have you been seeing a higher traffic flow of patients? If so,
do you see your couches and patient beds, staff rooms and patient room furnishings needing
replaced more often? What about your vinyl fabrics, do you see any issues with vinyl's cracking?
Then, there's bed bugs.....That is a whole different concern that healthcare facilities are facing...Can

The Board Of A Nurse Practitioner
The Board of Nursing in California provides specific guidelines by which a registered nurse can
become a nurse practitioner (NP) by means of acquiring advanced practice education. The additional
preparation will help the NP in assessing and managing the healthcare needs of their patient
population. In 2008 there were an estimated 145,000 NPs nationwide and 13,649 in California
(Christian, S., & Dower, J.D., 2008). Although there are federal mandates for the NP role in primary
care, the majority of the educational guidelines and scope of practice rules fall to individual states.
This creates disparities between states that are evident by the differences in the outlined scope of
practice for an NP. It is very important for the NP to understand their scope of practice and the rules
they must follow to legally furnish drugs and devices in California. Different states also have
different rules for furnishing drugs and devices, a function of primary care that an NP needs to
perform to be successful in the patient aspect of their work. NPs in California need to address not
only the Board of Registered Nursing's (BRN) requirements, in addition to the Drug Enforcement
Agency's (DEA) requirements for writing prescriptions. Over time new rules and regulations are
being presented for legislative action, so it is important to stay up to date with information that may
affect the NP profession. NPs use their advanced practice nursing skills to assume the responsibility

Lorraine Hansberry describes the rooms of the younger's apartment and its furnishings to provide a
lifetime's worth of back story. It is a true lifetime's worth if looked at from the perspective of Mr.
younger senior, who first rented the apartment with his young wife and raised his family there and
who has recently passed away. In so vividly describing the furnishings of the apartment Hansberry is
at the same time describing the condition of the younger family members. The furnishings are tired
and worn, just as the younger family, exhausted and worn from years of having to accommodate the
use by too many others. The description of the apartment and its furnishings tells the reader a lot
about the younger family. The fact that the furnishings

Social Class Starts at Home Essay
People judge others and their success based on the location of his or her house, size of the house,
and the interior furnishings of the house, and this is important to know when purchasing a house.
Covert actions always seem to bring in more attention than something that is announced.
Consequently, secluded home locations will make someone more valuable or important. This
stipulation relies on the value of the house, but for the most part it is true. There is something about
being tough to visit that makes a secluded home the perfect selection for the wealthy. Even when
asking out that girl, the one that makes her hard to get, always exalts herself above all other choices.
Then there are the choices that reside amongst the multitude. In ... Show more content on

For the rest of the human population with common sense and relatively empty pockets there is the
choice of an adequately sized home. A home in which every room serves a useful purpose, is the
home for the middle class. A home in which every room serves more than four necessary purposes is
the home for the unfortunate class. These types of homes are usually in suburban areas, but many
cities also have houses in the downtown area. Apartment type structures where the price is cheaper
than a small house are shelter of choice to the low class. Ironically, that same type of structure is
also home to the invaluably rich. This is attributed to the location and interior furnishing, rendering
this option the only one that breaks the pattern thus far. Based purely on the elite city ambience and
high quality furnishing this home disregards how rich people prefer secluded areas and large homes.
Although many of these lofts are large, they are nowhere near the size of the initial home we
touched on. Everyone likes stuff, and among basically everything else talked about in this essay,
stuff takes hard cash to purchase. The market that is open to the poor is open to the rich, but just
because the rich can stockpile on certain items doesn't make them more valuable. It is items like lion
fur carpets and diamond plated coffee tables that make the rich, "rich." Exotic items not available to
others definitely show a high level of uniqueness. Just how home seclusion is a sign of

Why Do Decorations That Bespeak Of Art Deco?
Decorations that bespeak of Art Deco are colorful. The bolder the colors, the better for the theme.
Sure, earth tones and neutral shades also abound, but these hues are more utilized for the walls. For
a more artsy finish, use metallic paints or accent the wall corners on the ceiling side with a stencil.
Designs can vary from ziggurats, surreys to lotus and scarab. Wallpapers are also acceptable with
these designs if you don't want to do a painting job. Botanical patterns or floral together with
geometrical patterns are also popular Art Deco designs.
Speaking of bright and bold colors, Art Deco is rich in shades of red, black, pink, silver and green.
As for the neutrals, beige and cream are top choices. Furnishings can also be in orange, yellow

Global Home-Furnishing Retailers: IKEA
Introduction Known as one the largest global home–furnishing retailers, IKEA currently has over
139,000 employees located in 53 countries and generates roughly 39.3 billion US dollars in annual
sales (IKEA, 2014). Ingvar Kamprad began selling different types of items and founded the
company in Agunnaryd, Sweden in 1943. Kamprad found that his greatest entrepreneurial
opportunity was in furniture. Many households at that time were changing from receiving furniture
that was handed down to desiring new, inexpensive, and stylish furniture. Kamprad was able to find
a business opportunity to change the current social situation since a lot of the furniture was priced
high at the time. He wanted to be able to offer his customers a wide ... Show more content on

seemed to be the largest furniture market in the world. In 1987, IKEA began opening stores in the

the management processes for IKEA. He felt IKEA's spirit contained enthusiasm, simplicity in
behavior, cost consciousness, constant will to renew and humbleness before the task. A clear
management style and organization culture was shaped for all stores around the world. The overall
environment was open, informal and relaxed. This type of environment put employees at ease but
also placed more stress on the management team to perform their best. It was stressed that the
processes for management be simple yet detailed. Managers were to work in warehouses, stores and
showrooms to have a full understanding of the companies operations. Cost consciousness was
another process to be followed by management. They were not to waste resources and they were to

Chandeliers are very adaptable thanks to the wide range of design and materials, and are in perfect

IKEA has also done the opportunity to innovate where it can. For example, the retailer recently
opened its first New York outlet, a 7,400 square food scaled down version of its usual 200,000
square foot stores. The "boutique–style" outlet is essentially a marketing vehicle for the company.
Known as the Marketing Outpost, the shop aims to concentrate on only one product at a time. Every
eight to 12 weeks IKEA will close the store for a complete refit and transformation. Consumer
interest in IKEA has revived the flagging fortunes of furniture retailers. In areas where new IKEA
stores have opened, the company's lively approach has led to an increase in the time spent shopping
for home related products. Research also suggests that the proportion of their income that consumers
are prepared to spend on those products is increasing. IKEA therefore believes it is competing with
purchases of new cars and holidays – anything that claims the disposable income in the consumers'
pocket – not just with other furniture retailers. Although the company does not deliberately use
demographic and psychographic variables to segment its customer base, IKEA products seem to
appeal particularly to people in their twenties and thirties. In order to expand the product line further
into other life cycle stages, the company is trying to grow with its customers by adopting a policy of
offering products that cater for families with teenage

Types Of Business Organizations The Cardigans
There are three main types of business organizations the Cardigans can file their home decor

the simplest form of business organization. Usually in sole proprietorship one person has complete
control of their business;however, one assumes all liabilities. According to Miller (2013), "The sole
proprietor is free to make any decision she or he wishes concerning the business–including whom to
hire, when to take a vacation, and what kind of business to pursue" (Miller, 2013, p. 445). A major

Analysis And Strategy Recommendation Plan For Ikea Brand...
Analysis and Strategy recommendation plan for the IKEA brand: A strategy is said to be a plan that
is made for the long term success of a product or brand. It is extremely important to have a strategy
in order to figure out a direction towards which any company is able to focus all its resources
efficiently and achieve desired outcomes. Formulating effective strategies is a considerably long
process in itself that combines analysing several factors, situations and issues that are already
present in a company and looking to improve on them alongside trying to implement various
innovations and ideas to collectively create a direction towards which they can move and direct the
resources available to them. IKEA is a manufacturer of home and business furnishings who offer
interior furnishing products to consumers in several countries across the globe. Before IKEA plans
on expanding and entering any new market, they are required to obtain a clear understanding of
what consumer behaviour and requirements are in that particular market. There are basically two
types of Markets which include Consumer Market and Business Market. IKEA can establish their
business by targeting both markets as their product range of interior furnishings are required by both
households and business establishments. However, in either case, customers are the target for any

Using The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale
A Pre–Kindergarten classroom was observed using the Early Childhood Environment Rating scale
scoresheet. The purpose of this paper will discuss one section, space and furnishings. The score
sheet was used to observe the children and the classroom. Eight areas where observed, which
included indoor space, furnishing, and outdoor gross motor. Each area had a different score,
although certain areas scored an excellent seven. Overall the classroom had a great score. On Friday,
February 5, 2016 I observed Ms. L pre–k classroom. I arrived in her classroom at 8:45 am and
stayed until 9:45am. Ms. L was the only teacher present in her classroom, at the moment she doesn't
have an assistant teacher. At the beginning of the observation ten students were present. By 9:30am
Ms. L had all twelve of her students present. The state ratio for a pre–k classroom is one to twelve,
meaning one teacher can be with twelve students. However, if another teacher was present in the
classroom they could have up to twenty–four students. This ratio includes four and five year olds.
All the children in Ms. L class are four years old, currently none of her students will turn five until
the month of April. Three out of twelve students in the classroom have either a food allergy or
family food preference. I entered the classroom during breakfast time the students were having
wheat pancakes, but due to one child allergies he had to eat cornflakes. This was the perfect time to

Perhaps twenty years it may have been, but new dangers are lurking in every scenario and may have

The change to engineered lumber also means less wood to burn resulting structure collapse much
sooner, risking the lives of unaware firefighters. In addition to building techniques, improved
technologies have also given rise to many engineered materials that replace traditional materials
found in home furnishings such as cotton and wool. Today, homes are constructed and filled with
furnishings that have a petroleum base such as plastics and polycarbonates. These engineered
materials burn many times hotter and faster than traditional building materials or what is considered
legacy furnishings. In an experiment conducted at the NIST laboratory, two same size rooms, filled
with matching furnishings. One room was filled with modern home furnishings while the second
room was filled with furnishings made of cotton, wool, and solid lumber. Both rooms were ignited
simultaneously, the modern room burned rapidly and flashed over in approximately eight minutes
whereas the legacy room took twenty minutes to reach flashover. When we consider the length of
time to call 911, take the call, dispatch units, drive to the scene, tag a hydrant and pull a line most
likely takes longer than eight minutes, the timing until flashover is critical for victims and
firefighters. Additionally, there is a significant difference in temperatures generated between the
modern and legacy rooms. The legacy room high temperature reached approximately four hundred

the price of signature product to $29.99 for a year. This report is a summary and analysis of current
situation on West Lake Home Furnishings Ltd. (WLHFL) The analysis is based upon the basic

2. Reject the offer to reduce the retail price t $29.99. 1. Profit maximization of WLHFL By rejecting
the offer, at present production level of WLHFL is not at the profit maximisation level. That is still
there is a possibility of selling more products and maximising profit. There are two new entrants in
2006 which are specifically focusing on this opportunity. Rather than, they grab the opportunity,
WLHFL should grab the opportunity. 1. Effect on Large chain Retailer's relationship Retailer who
made the proposal will be reluctant to provide better shelf space and so do the other retailers, as the
volumes provided by WLHFL are not high. Due to this, there is less possibility of reaching to the
consumer's mind. Hence, there is not anticipation of growth in sale in long term. Even there is a
possibility that the retailer can purchase directly from Chinese manufacturer which can be availed at
cheaper price. Opportunity cost is high, and hence rejection to offer is not recommended. 3. Effect
on cash flow of WLHFL for the year 2007 If the WLHFL grows at average 10%, then there is
positive cash flow. As retailers will not offer the better shelf space, it is difficult to attain. Also, due
to new entrants and/or retailers themselves purchases directly from Chinese manufacturer will force
to reduce the price. At this production level, reduction in price means negative cash flow.

A major opportunity for Pier 1 is their expansion online through social media and e–commerce
sales. The introduction of a mobile site in late 2012 was a starting point which Pier 1 could build
upon and create an online virtual store where customers can play a simulation which helps them
design a room. The simulation can help the consumers visualize the products in their home which
takes the shopping experience a step further. And finally, a potential threat to Pier 1 is the increasing
popularity of mobile sites like Pinterest which promote do–it–yourself home decoration ideas and
instructions. While this threat is extremely low, it could impact sales of furnishings and decorations.

Furnishings. This new program will go in effect on November 1, 2016. This four week program will
allow all employees to have the same experience and knowledge when selling the products for the

Due to the lack of training with new hires, this has caused a decline in sales due to lack of
knowledge and experience. The following four week program will prepare all new sales employees
to be able to be confident and efficient on the sales floor. Week one will include an overall
introduction to the program. Week two will teach the new hires all products (living room, bedroom,
mattress, dining room, office, accessories, and etc.) the company offers. Week three will breakdown
all of the financing programs and how to run the PLH system to create cash sales and contracts.
Week four will allow the new hires to put what they learn and work the sales floor with guidance of
their superior.
In order to get this new training and development program started by November 1, please respond

Location, Location, Location – This is one of the key factors in successfully marketing the growth
of your business. IKEA has only placed its stores in metropolitan areas that are heavily populated
and have the availability of space to accommodate an IKEA store2. By placing them in popular
cities, it hinders their target market from gaining access to the physical store. The geographical
location of the stores overlooks the majority of the target market for IKEA in surrounding smaller

Possible Solutions These are the solutions: implement more customer services, the IKEA lite store,

successful over the years in other countries, but growth has been slow in the U.S. IKEA can
continue to operate under the status quo and hope Americans adapt to their way of business. If IKEA

I chose this museum because it is located in one the city's oldest parks on the southeastern edge of
downtown and allows us to visually experience what life was like in North Texas during the 19th

In 1876,this piece of land became the first city park in Dallas. At that time it was simply called "City
park". The city's first zoo was situated here and there were concerts held weekly. Browder springs

carried the water to the city. The Cedars, a sophisticated neighborhood that was home to many
businesses grew up around here in the 1880s and the 1890's.After the World War II, many people
moved to the suburbs near Dallas and highways were built nearby to get them into the city for work.
The museum was first called Old city park. Then, in 2005 the museum's name was changed to

In 2008 there were an estimated 145,000 NPs nationwide and 13,649 in California (Christian, S., & Dower, J.D., 2008). Although there are federal mandates for the NP role in primary care, the majority of the educational guidelines and scope of practice rules fall to individual states. This creates disparities between states that are evident by the differences in the outlined scope of practice for an NP. It is very important for the NP to understand their scope of practice and the rules they must follow to legally furnish drugs and devices in California. Different states also have different rules for furnishing drugs and devices, a function of primary care that an NP needs to perform to be successful in the patient aspect of their work. NPs in California need to address not only the Board of Registered Nursing's (BRN) requirements, in addition to the Drug Enforcement Agency's (DEA) requirements for writing prescriptions. This stipulation relies on the value of the house, but for the most part it is true. There is something about being tough to visit that makes a secluded home the perfect selection for the wealthy. These engineered materials burn many times hotter and faster than traditional building materials or what is considered legacy furnishings. In an experiment conducted at the NIST laboratory, two same size rooms, filled with matching furnishings. One room was filled with modern home furnishings while the second room was filled with furnishings made of cotton, wool, and solid lumber. Both rooms were ignited simultaneously, the modern room burned rapidly and flashed over in approximately eight minutes whereas the legacy room took twenty minutes to reach flashover. When we consider the length of time to call 911, take the call, dispatch units, drive to the scene, tag a hydrant and pull a line most likely takes longer than eight minutes, the timing until flashover is critical for victims and firefighters. From Subject: Advice on whether to accept the offer of reducing the price of signature product to $29.99 for a year. This report is a summary and analysis of current situation on West Lake Home Furnishings Ltd. (WLHFL) The analysis is based upon the basic objective of economics that is profit maximization. Based upon the present trend of consumer income and preference it is recommended that WLHFL should accept the offer to reduce the unit retail price to $29.99. Profit maximization of WLHFL By rejecting the offer, at present production level of WLHFL is not at the profit maximisation level. That is still there is a possibility of selling more products and maximising profit. There are two new entrants in 2006 which are specifically focusing on this opportunity. Rather than, they grab the opportunity, WLHFL should grab the opportunity. 1. Effect on Large chain Retailer's relationship Retailer who made the proposal will be reluctant to provide better shelf space and so do the other retailers, as the volumes provided by WLHFL are not high. Due to this, there is less possibility of reaching to the consumer's mind. Hence, there is not anticipation of growth in sale in long term. Even there is a possibility that the retailer can purchase directly from Chinese manufacturer which can be availed at cheaper price. Opportunity cost is high, and hence rejection to offer is not recommended. 3. Effect on cash flow of WLHFL for the year 2007 If the WLHFL grows at average 10%, then there is positive cash flow. As retailers will not offer the better shelf space, it is difficult to attain. Also, due to new entrants and/or retailers themselves purchases directly from Chinese manufacturer will force to reduce the price. At this production level, reduction in price means negative cash flow. Recommendation Evaluating the options suggests accepting the proposal of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The simulation can help the consumers visualize the products in their home which takes the shopping experience a step further.
