To me, Charles Halloway and Jim Nightshade are the closest characters to people in reality and I
enjoyed them the most. The one thing I have to say I enjoyed the most about the book was one of
the themes of the book, acceptance. I liked this theme because majority of people can relate to the
theme easily. All characters in the novel went through an adventure once the carnival arrived. In the
beginning Charles Halloway did not see himself as the a good father to his son, William. Mr.
Halloway was in his mid 50's and by being that old he could not connect with his son like a younger

ironies of various kinds. The narrator commences by informing the audience about the hurt and
insult he received from Fortunato. Besides, every sentence adds to the unity that the author wanted

Thank you for always being a great friend of mine. We always hangout, do fun things, and make
great, unforgettable memories. You almost always come to concerts with me, show me new music,
and inspire me to love music even more. This is why I want to share you my three–day experience at
a music festival called Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), which is the second biggest music festival in
the world. I wore my EDC bracelet, which is my admission ticket, grabbed my ID and some cash to
buy food, drinks, and merchandise, and left my friend 's car with excitement. I was walking towards
my first EDC ever. My dream of going to EDC was about to come true. I was waiting in line for
security check and I couldn 't stop thinking and imagining about what I would be experiencing soon.

held. From top the bleacher, I was able to see the entire carnival. On the left side, I was able to see

The term 'workrate' was introduced to me during the earlier stages of my wrestling fandom when I
stumbled upon online communities who would throw the word around quite readily. Even with the
term still in common usage, I have never seen it given a widely–agreed upon and concrete
definition. In my view workrate is somewhat distinct from "good work", and refers to the athletic
and mechanical aspects of a match, in addition to the fluidity of its execution, bumping, and the like.
It says very little for the emotional components of a match or wrestler, for facials, and more
complex elements of selling. Whilst this does mean that many, if not most good workrate matches
are well worked, and many high workrate wrestlers are great workers, the contrapositive does not
hold –– those who do not have the mechanical and athletic prowess of a high workrate performer

addicted to wine and less of an expert in it. As Montresor informs Fortunato of the bottle of wine he

The Cask Casket Poe's use of verbal and dramatic irony in "The Cask of Amontillado" foreshadows
the both the crime and the death of the characters in the story. Even before the story begins the use
of irony is seen. In the title "The Cask of Amontillado" the word cask has a similar phonetic to the
word casket, which is synonymous to the word coffin which leads one to believe that there will be a
death in the story. One of the most ironic aspects of the story is the name that Poe gives the victim
"Fortunato." The irony sets in that he is very unfortunate to be fooled into such an obvious trap
leading to his death, even with the name he was given and set intelligence he was supposed to have,
but is blurred by the effects of alcohol.
Another use of irony and foreshadowing is that the death was planned during a carnival. A carnival
is usually a time of celebration, in this case it was the carnival before Lent, allowing themselves to
indulge in pagan activities before the self–denying 40 days celebrated by certain religions. It is
ironic that this a religious filled activity filled with drunks who have no perception of reality or self–
awareness. At the time Fortunato ran into Montresor, Fortunato was involved with the excess of
alcohol which made him become easily fooled and unaware of the reality of his situation exposing
himself to Montresor almost effortlessly. When they are met Montresor is masked, he seems to be
doing in what is in the best interest for Fortunato, wanting to show him the fine wine, disguising his
real intentions under the mask, and Fortunato, of course, was dressed as a jester. The irony stands in
that Fortunato is more willing to follow Montresor once he removes his mask, once he shows his
face and is smiling and leading him down the catacombs. This is the irony that Montresor is a "two–
faced" character. Behind the mask and his words, he hides his true intentions of revenge and yet
when he takes the mask off he is still deceiving Fortunato, even though one would think that once
one is unmasked their true self reveals. Fortunato on the other hand is portraying himself as a fool in

to the story. The selection of time and place also plays an important role in the story. The carnival
gives Montresor a perfect opportunity to appear in disguise, to locate his intoxicated companion and
lure him into his vindictive trap. Carnival is a time of happiness and celebration for everyone, but in

The grotesque can also symbolize social issues that affect students' lives and schoolwork–poverty,

The carnival classroom allows for students and teachers to collectively construct meaning and
learning through the dialogue between peers, teachers, and texts in a literature discussion (Delgatto
19). The carnival opens a space for these issues to be explored in a shared platform–a platform
which Bakhtin theorized would "engage a 'larger cultural conversations about interpretations and
possible meanings" This can even open a discussion among students to analyze how socially they
are being told to "choose another tale". Open discussion about social issues and identities as a part
of the carnival can expose students to "new social languages and meaning–making strategies' while
improving students' self–conscious reflection" (Delgatto

Mardi Gras Research Paper
Mardi Gras in Mobile, also known as Carnival, starts in November and officially kicks off on
twelfth night, which occured on January 6th. Though there are lots of private associations, such as
Krewes that hold their own masquerade balls and king cake parties, there are many free public
events to attend this season.
During the upcoming weeks, there will be at least one major parade that takes place in the city of
Mobile, the largest parades will take place on the last few days of Carnival, or Mardi Gras, season.

The Takers And The Leavers By Daniel Quinn
The story begins with Daniel Quinn writing about a day in his life, until he comes upon an absurd
advertisement in the personals section of the newspaper: TEACHER seeks pupil. Must have an
earnest desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement
with intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished
office building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn
stumbled towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other's eyes, and much to his
disgruntlement, the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael
quietly said, "I am the teacher." Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him
being taught certain stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These
explanations will be made clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are
misleading. Ishmael's goal will show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the
Takers and the Leavers. These groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the
world, and the Gods. Takers are the humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still
dominate on Earth today. The Leavers, in contradiction, are those who don't adopt agricultural
practices and disregard the benefits of civilization.
In lessons, Ishmael asks Quinn to explain other stories that the Takers imagine. The pupil
