Listening: Song, Describing Dinosaurs, Writing: My Pet Dinosaur, Dinosaur discoveries

  • 1. Class: Grade 3 Date: March 5 – March 9, 2017 LB Page: 80-83 AB Page: 68-69 Period: Duration: 40 mins/day Objectives: At the lessons students should be able to… *Listen and complete the lyrics of the song. *Listen and read a poem. *Learn and use the vocabulary words in a sentence. *Speak about dinosaur. *Comparing objects using as long as. *Compare measurements to actual objects. *Write comparison that describe the dinosaur. *Listen about the shape of a poem. *Write about the pet dinosaur. *Read about dinosaur discoveries. *Listen to timelines. Anticipated Problem: Unwanted misbehavior in the class Difficulty in understanding the text Difficulty in writing Difficulty in answering the activity Possible Solutions: Proper classroom management Explain and simplify it for better understanding Give more time to students Give struggling students one-on-one assistant during independent working time Aids/Materials Board, board markers, notebook, Language book, practice book, weekly plan with spelling words, computer and overhead projector, speaker, worksheets. New Vocabulary: meat-eater – unfortunately – cold-blooded – warm-blooded – feathers – poisonous – bite – scaly – poison – claws

(LB page 80) Discuss the use of as in comparing objects. Ask the learners to imagine a dinosaur and write three comparisons that describe their dinosaur. Give class activity Show pictures of dinosaur in the jungle with children playing with them. Ask learners how they describe the dinosaurs. Listening attentively and making mental images and decide what is easier to imagine. Writing comparisons about their dinosaur. Sharing their ideas in the class.   • 4. Discussion Application/ Assessment Day 4 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application/ Let learners read the poem. Ask learners to imagine that they have a pet dinosaur. Make up a name of it. Use their own name and add “osaurus” at the end. Give class activity. Draw and write 3-5 sentences about their pet dinosaur. Review of the past lesson regarding the discovery of the smallest and biggest dinosaurs. Let learners listen to a timeline about dinosaur discoveries. Give more information about each dinosaur discovery on the timeline. Give class activity. Reading the poem Unfortunately. (LB page 81) Writing: My Pet Dinosaur in their notebook Reviewing the discovery of the smallest and biggest dinosaurs. Participating in the class discussion. Listening: Dinosaur Discoveries (Track 45) Reading and match the paragraph and the discovery. (LB page 83) Answering AB page 69-71 10 mins 15 mins 5 mins 10 mins 10 mins 15mins What do we mean by the word unfortunately? What does it look like? What can it do? How long ago was South African dinosaur discovered? Where did scientist found the huge dinosaur that was 35-40 metres long? How many years ago did each dinosaur discovery take place?
