*Use irregular verbs in speech and writing. *Explore ways to stay healthy and strong.

Use of has and have, Irregular verbs, A Nasreddin story, Listening: Our Amazing body

  • 1. Class: Grade 3 Date: April 2 – April 6, 2017 LB Page: 96-105 AB Page: 82-88 Period: Duration: 40 mins/day Objectives: At the lessons students should be able to… *Learn and use the vocabulary words in a sentence. *Read the Nasreddin story. Understand meaning from context. *Complete sentences using has or have. *Listen and speak about the story. *Answer questions using has or have. *Listen to facts about the human body. *Define regular verb and irregular verb. *Learn about the parts of the human body. *Use irregular verbs in speech and writing. *Explore ways to stay healthy and strong. Anticipated Problem: Unwanted misbehavior in the class Difficulty in understanding the text Difficulty in writing Difficulty in answering the activity Possible Solutions: Proper classroom management Explain and simplify it for better understanding Give more time to students Give struggling students one-on-one assistant during independent working time Aids/Materials Board, board markers, notebook, Language book, practice book, weekly plan with spelling words, computer and overhead projector, speaker, worksheets. New Vocabulary: demand - refused – judge – yell – wise – clever – jingle – coins – delicious – expensive - tired Stage Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity Timings Checking Questions. Etc.
  • 2. Day 1 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application / Assessment Unlock the difficulties. Discuss the meaning of each word and show pictures related to the vocabulary words and give example sentences. Present the pictures and meaning of each word. Show pictures of people climbing mountains, doing extreme sports, sailing, etc. Write sentences on the board. Explain the learners how has and have can be used. Review the use of singular and plural forms of the verb. Tell learners they are going to listen to a person speaking about things he and his friends have done. Give class activity Listening attentively in the discussion. Constructing sentence/s using the vocabulary words. Identifying the use of has and have. Watching the video clip: Understanding the use of has and have. Listening to the audio track 49. Listening and looking at the information in the chart. (LB page 96) Completing the sentences in the worksheet: has or have 5 mins 10 mins 10 mins 15 mins What can you see in the pictures? Have you ever played a basketball? Have you ever travelled to Egypt? Can you give example sentences using the words clever, wise, expensive and tired. Who has long hair? Who has a sister? The dog (has, have) brown patches on its body. Ali and Saif (has, have) new toys.
  • 3. Day 2 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application / Assessment Day 3 Warm up Presentation Review the meaning of verb. Write an irregular verb on the board. Ask the students to use the verb in the past sentence. Play the “What did you do yesterday song?” Read the section irregular verbs with students. Give class activity Ask the class if they have ever been to a shop that has a delicious smell. Ask them about the shop, what they sold. Pre-teach the concepts problem and solution. Ask learners if they Pronouncing the given words and make sentences from the words. Listening to the song while writing the irregular verbs in their notebook. Determining the places of irregular verbs in the sentence. L B page 97, A B page 82, worksheet Answering the worksheet (irregular verbs) Participating in the class the discussion. Listening in the discussion attentively. 5 mins 10 mins 10 mins. 15 mins 5 mins 10 mins What do you notice about all the past tense verbs? Do all past tense verbs end in “ed”? Have you ever been to a shop that has a delicious smell? What was the shop? What was the smell? What can you see in the picture? Where is Nasreddin?
  • 4. Discussion Application/ Assessment Day 4 Warm up Presentation Discussion have read a story about a problem. Tell learners they are going to listen to and read a story. Ask them to look at the pictures and predict what the story is going to be about. Play the audio at least twice. Give class activity Ask the class if they do exercise, what sports they do, what food they eat. Ask the class what they think we have inside our bodies. Check understanding of breathe and breath, and fist. Tell the class to listen, read and follow the instructions from the audio. Listening while reading the story: A Nasreddin story (LB page98-101) Answering AB page 84-85 Participating in the class discussion. Finding the parts of the body on LB page 104-105 Listening to track: 52. Writing the facts they have learned about heart and the lungs in their notebook. 10 mins 15 mins 5 mins 10 mins 15 mins What did the poor man do while he ate his dry bread? How did the poor man feel when Nassreddin said “Give me your money.” Why? What is your favorite sport? Do you exercise? What is inside our body, under our skin? What are the facts have you learned about our heart?
